Deliciously fresh yogurt parfait with granola made in house.
    Kim W.

Doug and Roxy recently bought this B&B in March of 2012 and having spent time with them on our trip, we can tell that they truly love their job. When we pulled up to the house it was a cute little place, our welcome was warm, and the room was clean with a hint of lavender scent. After arriving we took a quick walk back to the harbor to catch a whale watching tour (only took about 7-8 minutest to walk to the harbor). The room had beautiful stained glass windows, a fresh pitcher of lemon water, a super comfy bed, flat screen tv with dvd player. Since we had to run so quickly, there was even a precious note left on our door for us. There are movies in the sitting room to use, games to play, and an afternoon snack (snicker doodles and raspberry lemonade...yum!). My husband and I are night owls and sat up playing cards and finished off the snicker doodles which were sooo good! The morning brought a basket of coffee for the room outside our door (always helpful to get my husband out of bed) and when we roused from our room, we were greeted with a tasty breakfast. First we had fresh juices and coffee with a yogurt parfait (granola is made in house). This was followed by banana hazelnut waffles with fresh fruit on top and breakfast ham. Everything was delicious and I am a picky eater! I would completely recommend this place when traveling to Friday Harbor. Perfect location to be close to downtown...but not too close!

I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and we loved our stay here. Doug and Roxy are so sweet and made it feel like a home for the night. I had requested champagne in the room which was a nice surprise for my boyfriend and a nice option for them to provide. There were delicious treats when we arrived and they were able to accommodate us arriving a little early. We stayed in the veranda room which is so cozy and has the great shower with two shower heads. The bed was amazing and the access to the patio is great. The breakfast was delicious (granola parfait, individual egg casseroles and delicious muffins you can take in a to-go bag for later - and mimosas!) We spent some time just relaxing on the hammock out back and overall had a wonderful stay.

This place is fantastic! The owners Doug and Roxie have thought of everything you will need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious and huge! Fresh coffee is left in a basket outside your door at 7am. Picnic lunches can be ordered ahead for day adventures. And each afternoon a snack is served. Also they provide cold filtered water and a fridge with bottled water. All the comforts you can ask for are here! We stayed in the Veranda room and it was amazing. The fireplace is such a great touch. Huge shower with local lavender toiletries. The innkeepers provide a wealth of information on things to do and places to eat. Best of all it's a short walk to shops and dinning and a spa! We will be back!

Kirk House was my first Bed and Breakfast experience. The location is great. We parked our car at the Anacortes Ferry terminal and hopped on the ferry to Friday Harbor. Kirk House was located within walking distance to the Ferry terminal. The rooms are very cozy. We had a French door in our room that's open to the garden. The craftsman style stain glass windows were beautiful. On the down side the bathroom was very small in our room and the walls are very thin. We happened to have neighbors that snored very loud all night. We had to leave the TV on to drawn out the snore. On the website it stated full breakfast, but we were only served fruit and yogurt parfait. They didn't serve any hot breakfast (maybe because we went during off season?) The granola in the yougourt parfait and the coffee was very good. The owners designed their own coffee and had it roosted in Arizona. Over all it was a disappointing experience.

There are so many positives I am sure I missed some. Location: Close to town (5min), also centrally located to head to any part of the island! County Setting (5 acres) with livestock you can feed! Our room had an en-suite bathroom that was clean and had modern fixtures. Wonderful hosts! Claudia, Tyrone & Sveva. Claudia made an amazing breakfast each morning. She even baked chocolate chip cookies daily, there was also coffee, tea, & hot coco available at any time for us to have from the kitchen. We really enjoyed feeding the Alpacas and Pygmy Goats. The animals were so adorable and friendly. My only con was our initial impression of the room as it did not have a TV. But as our stay went on, we thoroughly enjoyed not having a TV in the room, it allowed us to disconnect more and take in the beauty of the island and surroundings. They do have a family/tv room, but we never felt the need to turn it on. If you are looking for a little peace & quiet, with a great breakfast each morning that is included in your stay, you have to come and stay at the Trumpeter Inn Bed & Breakfast!!

To start, the bed and breakfast feels like you stepped out of reality and into the movie "The Holiday." It is cozy, quaint, and quiet in the best way. From staying in other BnB's we expected danishes, coffee, etc. They far exceeded those expectations making easily the best quiche I've ever had, apple crumb cake, homemade rhubarb jam and butter and homemade focaccia. I woke up not hungry and ended up eating everything it was so delicious. My only regret of the weekend was booking an early ferry and not being able to enjoy breakfast the second morning. I hope to return one day!

Check-in was done at the lobby. At the lobby one will also find a store and a coffee shop. Complimentary movies and games can also be checked out at the lobby to enjoy back at your lodging. The store offers a little bit of everything, from clothing to snacks. Complimentary ice machines are available. Bagged ice can be purchased though. Lower-level parking is limited and was completely full in the evenings. We were lucky enough to get a parking spot every time we returned from playing. Wheel barrel type carts located at the gate make transporting luggage effortless to rooms. Adirondack chairs are scattered about the edge of the property to enjoy sipping a beverage, reading or admiring the view. A fire-pit, community BBQ, picnic area and kids play area help pass the time while on-site. The paly area is at the lobby end for those who do not wish to have quarters near noise. The cabin we were given was number 10, a handicap unit. The very first cabin upon entrance and the furthest from the lobby and play area. Our cabin was clean and well equipped. Snug Harbor provided us the peace that we were seeking at the time. My one suggestion would be to offer fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the lobby to establish a more personal touch.

The location is great - close to everything in Friday Harbor but not on a street with as much traffic as some others. The customer service is great - just send them a text and you get a response in seconds. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room interior was good - everything looked clean with plenty of toiletries, cozy robes, and a heated bathroom floor. The bathroom in general was dated. We had a non operational jetted tub that had been converted into a duel faucet rain shower. It was rather weird, but it worked. I also really liked the keyless entry, so no worries about losing your key! Now, my one negative. Our room, and I'm assuming all rooms on this side of the building, abut a loading dock and parking lot for an adjacent grocery store. Every morning at 5am, a semi truck, fork lift, and workers unload the truck. In addition to back up safety alarms, truck engines idling, and workers talking, you also hear the constant rumbling of goods being unloaded. This goes on for HOURS.....starting at 5am. The hotel gives you ear plugs and notes that there is no noise ordinance on the island and notes that neighbors can be noisy and the hotel can't do anything about that. I get it...you can't control noisy patrons or neighbors, but the description given doesn't really convey what is actually going on with this side of the building. Constant, very loud noise and alarms for over two hours starting at 5am. All that said, I would stay here again, but I would make sure any room I book has views of the harbor, and not the back side of the hotel.

We did not find the hotel loud, but they offer earplugs just in case. The mattress was great, seriously- firn enough but with a soft topper or something, we both slept so well.

They even created a few very informative and cleaver videos to convey this process. We booked Sweet 1 (example of play on words). It was just perfect for us and had harbor front views. They do have several different room types. They have "Euro" rooms that share a common living area and kitchen, with a number of individual rooms connected that have its own sitting space and bathrooms. This would be good for a group of people that want to connect in the shared common space and then go off to your own rooms. Sweet 1 was full of interesting design elements. The bed linens...OMG awesome! I usually NEVER ever like hotel sheets even if it's the Four Seasons. I love my bamboo sheets which are like sleeping on uber soft 1000 thread count. It's literally all I have in my house. But these bed linens are so nice I found out what they were and purchased two sets on line before even checking out of the hotel.
