A couple of us like to come to Friendly Confines after we get off work or to meet up for a couple of drinks. I've yet to try any of the food, but customer service has been great every time I've come in. Especially with all the changes they're going through right now with covid. Huge place, lots of TV's will sports coverage, food is just mediocre I used to come here quite a bit, but went last weekend for the first time in over a year. The inside is very large with TV's everywhere. There is a large bar, casual seating and booth seating. There's also some dart boards and pool tables. We ordered wings and they were greasy and disappointing. One in our group said his burger was just OK. I had the Italian beef sandwich and it was pretty good. They have a full liquor bar, but their beer selection is somewhat limited compared to many others around town. Our server disappeared several times leaving us looking to track her down. However they were able to put two sports games on designated TV's for us which was nice. The prices are reasonable but the quality of food seems to have gone downhill a bit. Grew up in Chicago. Nice to come to a place that has Chicago flavor. This time I came in and sat next to a framed Marian Hossa Jersey and they were playing the blues brothers. About as Chicago as you can get. Goose Island 312 on Tap and an Italian Beef sandwich. Not quite like back there but pretty damn good. Prices are inexpensive. Food is always good. Service is always on point. Even open until 2 during the week. Place is always crowded and always loud, but I am never disappointed. read more

I don't know what it is about this place - I've been here 3 times because friends invited me to come. The first time was okay. I split some fries with a friend and they were okay. They were over-salted. The second time I got bbq clubby claws and I felt sick almost immediately afterwards. I ran to the bathroom to vomit. I didn't know if it was the food or if I was sick so I didn't blame it on Friendly Confines. This was seven months ago. However, I came here for the third time and got sweet potato fries. I figured the last time was just a fluke and I should be fine. Nope. The fries were very oily and greasy and left a weird taste in my mouth. As soon as I got home, I ran to the bathroom to throw up. I wasn't sick before I went here and felt miserable after I left. Sorry but I'm never coming back here. I wish I could give 0 stars for making me sick twice. read more

A solid sports bar with good food, good prices, and lots to see and do. I decided to head over to the Winter Park Friendly Confines the other night to grab some food. I used to go to the Friendly Confines on South Orange Avenue when I lived downtown, so I knew that I would be able to get a burger and beer for 5 bucks. The Winter Park venue is located at the intersection of Aloma and Semoran. While in a shopping plaza, the restaurant is in a standalone building in the back area. Once I arrived, I went inside and was asked if I wanted a table or to just eat at the bar. I decided to go up to the bar and place my order. However, when I turned the corner, I noticed two things: 1) this location has a TON of stuff to do, ranging from a wall of dart board machines to several pool tables, 2) they were playing poker! I'm a big poker guy, so it was fun to see that they had a league right down the street from my house. After seeing the wide range of options, I decided to sit down at the poker table for a few minutes while the waitress put in my order for the burger/beer combo and some cubbie claws. While not as "Chicago'ish" as the downtown FC, all of the people there were friendly and happy to talk about poker and Winter Park. Despite being pretty packed, my burger and claws came out fairly quickly. While it isn't on the level of fancy restaurant food, my burger was pretty solid, the claws were rather tasty, and the entire meal cost me less than $10. Overall, the Winter Park Friendly Confines is a great place to go to have some fun and eat some quality bar food. I'll definitely be coming back to watch some games and play some poker on days where I don't feel like driving downtown. read more

Friendly Confines has been around just off Aloma Ave. for a very long time, but I have never been there since they bought out the other restaurant located there. We were looking for some cold beer and wings and the place I had a Groupon for was permanently closed. Very disappointed, we headed down Aloma towards Outback, then I thought... wait a minute...Friendly Confines let's check it out. Saved some time as well getting there. Well, first of all, their food was delicious!! Why have I waited so long?? We selected our booth in a section where other customers were eating since it's a sports bar with TVs everywhere and a very happy bar area which I love...but not on this trip. Our very polite server came immediately to greet us and take our beer orders. (Coors Lite and Shock Top ) We decided on splitting an appetizer of nachos which came shortly after with very crisp chips filled on top with beef, tomatoes, onions, black olives, jalapenos, lettuce and cheese. It was accompanied with salsa and sour cream. Wow...it was just like going back in time when nachos first hit the restaurant scene!! Loved them!! Now, to make the evening even better our wings came. We split 20 wings, half hot/medium. They were so well cooked to the exact temperature and were crispy on the outside which I love, and so tender inside. Perfect!! They came with celery and carrots....who does that anymore??Needless to say most of them came home. All of this, beers, nachos and wings just over 45 dollars. Such a wonderful change to have food prepared exactly how it should be. My only suggestion would be spruce up the outside and upgrade the interior seating areas. It's showing its age, but the food is absolutely wonderful. I will be back...soon and try more of their extensive menu. Happy night!! The cubbie claws were like mini, thin, chicken fingers coated in your favorite sauce. What's great about $0.50 wing Monday is that you can mix and match whatever sauces you want. You can mix multiple together to create your own sauce or you can get 2 of one flavor, 3 of another, etc. So if you're not sure what sauce is you're favorite, this is a great way to find out. I don't know if it was part of the evening's entertainment but my friends and I enjoyed watching two guys at the bar puff themselves up to at least consider the idea of getting into a fight. This Friendly Confines is usually hit or miss. I go here once in a while to grab a drink or three with some friends. The food is decent bar food and the atmosphere isn't bad. The restaurant is sports themed, and has football jerseys (still in the plastic) that are hanging out everywhere. They are actually autographed, and are for sale as well which I thought was pretty neat. The service isn't really consistent. Sometimes I will have a server who is really attentive at first, slows down, and then barely checking up on us at all. Not a bad place to go watch a football game, grab some grub or a drink. read more

There was a friendly confines Near the house where I grew up that my brother used to love to go to. They had a wings and fries basket but I always got for under $10 so I was excited to go to this location I've never been to before. I probably should've done a little research before going because I didn't realize it was the first Bears game of the season so the place was packed. I'm not a Chicago fan but I'm not not a Chicago fan so it didn't bother me other than there was people everywhere. I'm sure it's nice for Chicago fans to have somewhere to go to that's completely Chicago themed. We got there early enough before the game so it's easy to get a table as it is all set yourself. We started out with the Buffalo chicken dip which was delicious the parts of it came out cold. I ordered some wings and the people I was there with ordered the special burger and a beer for something like six dollars. The food took a while to come out but I'm assuming it's because they were so packed. The service was still great although at times we didn't see our server for a while but it's to be expected on a busy football night. My wings were OK and there was no option for a basket so I ordered fries on the side and they were a little bit cold and soggy. Again, this might be because of how busy they were due to the game but I was not impressed and I did not hold up to the memories I had of the one I used to go to before. I don't think I've ever had a bad time and I much prefer this location to the UCF location. I really enjoy the wings. Spicy Garlic Teriyaki is what's up! Other things I love: Sweet Potato Fries, Loaded Cheese Fries, and the side salad. This place has really good ranch dressing-some ranches are better than others. :) I've often gone over on Wednesdays for the $9.99 Wing Basket deal- saves you about two bucks. There's a different deal every week day-sometimes 50 cent wings. They have trivia on Wednesdays and that's fun sometimes too, depending on your mood of course. The table service isn't bad. Lucy B. was our server tonight and the only reason I know that is because it was printed on our receipt. This place is loud on a game night and filled with lots of people. Lucy was an awful server. We sat at a high top table in the bar area. Lucy acknowledged us immediately. When we started asking about beers and any specials she immediately lost interest in us. Tonight it was honey, his friend, and me. We asked if ordering the "two dips" option for the dip and chips appetizer would give you more or less chips vs. if you were to order two separate orders of chips and dip and she didn't have an answer, she literally just shrugged her shoulders. Honey's friend ended up ordering a bottled corona and an order of chips and salsa as his dip choice and honey and I ordered a pitcher of Bud and an order of the chips and queso for the dip option. When our drinks were delivered a man brought them over and while pouring my beer the glass almost slid off the table and I had to ask him to bring us cocktail napkins. A girl in camo pants delivered our food and seemed less than pleased with doing so. We did not see our server for a while. Meanwhile we never saw our server. While snacking on our chips we had to flag down another server to bring us napkins. The queso was absolutely incredible. Literally it is so delicious! And the salsa, just as fine. The salsa has chopped herbs and vegetables and you can taste them in every bite. Definitely a bang for your buck! 5.99$ gets your chips and one dip. Your choices of dip are salsa, queso, buffalo chicken, or spinach & artichoke. When we finished eating it took forever for Lucy to show back up. Then it took forever to get our bills. Then it took forever for her to bring our credit cards back. We had considered eating an actual meal but the whole experience we had made that less appealing.
