Last evening, I decided to sit down with my daughter after our walk and have dinner. Their burgers are addicting so I literally ordered a burger and fries for her and a burger and salad for me with a cold beer ( for me of course) . Came here on a Friday night and it was slower than I thought it'd be! We tried the lamb sliders, seared tuna, and margherita flatbread. I enjoyed the lamb sliders with the cheese aioli and plentiful caramlized onions, however I felt the meat to bread ratio was a bit off. If the patty itself were either larger or more flattened out to fit the width of the bun it would've been better. As for the flatbread, I wouldn't really call it margherita as it doesn't have a nice tomato sauce as the star; it's more of a cheese flatbread with some tomatoes and basil sprinkled. My friend wasn't a fan of the seared tuna but I thought it was nice with the acidic sauce and sesame seeds coating the outside. We visited blue jackets on a Friday night after an escape room for dinner. I think this place has a great location, but their menu was extremely boring. We started with an order of loaded fries which were really good, definitely enough for 4 people. The cheese pull was really impressive. For mains, I got the western burger. It was just kind of okay. I feel like burgers are a pretty easy thing to make good, but it was overcooked (I ordered medium rare and it was medium well) and the bacon was really sad. I did sub out the fries for street corn, and the street corn did not disappoint. The drink menu here was a little lackluster as well. I was also surprised that they didn't have a beer list. When I asked for one, our server listed what was on tap and said "and we also have some bottles and cans" which I would've wanted to see a list for. I was pretty thoroughly unimpressed by this place I think mainly because the food wasn't anything special. When I hear gastropub, I'm imagining something creative or at least high quality and this place was . . . Fine. I wouldn't go back there. read more

And the service was really good, I had brought my own water for the dog, but our server asked if you could bring some. Blue Jackets is a pleasant experience set in the scenic neighborhood of Baldwin Park. I've dined for brunch and find it on par with its price point. It's not the most elaborate array of offerings that you'd find downtown or on park avenue but it works! During my last visit, my entire table tried the short rib omelette and had some rounds of mimosas. I like that several different juice options are available for the mimosas. I prefer pineapple to OJ and was happy it was an option. As for the omelettes? Nothing exceptional but still pleasant. I will say that I really enjoy their breakfast potatoes though. They are so well seasoned and always crispy. Blue jackets offer friendly and attentive service and the setting is lovely! He ordered the garlic Parm and quickly realized that he must have ordered the buffalo. The first time is here as the garlic Parm sauce was just a little too oily for his liking. He ate all of the wings though , but definitely like the buffalo. I wanted something that was a little late and chose the chicken wrap. The chicken wrap does come in either Caesar and or buffalo. I chose the Caesar. The wrap is a decent size and it does come with fries. I did request some additional Caesar sauce.(an additional .50 charge) As I could barely taste any of the dressing on the wrap as it was. Good local bar food is mid to me but the locals love it. I order the chicken tenders and it had no seasoning whatsoever the drinks were good and customer service was on point truly felt like a little family in there the way everyone knows everyone. Very inclusive area. This location has a pretty good happy hour apparently the one dish everyone was ordering were the lamb burgers which were on the happy hour menu I'll have to give them a try next time as they were legit flying out the kitchen. This spot has been through a few different iterations and menu changes in the past few years, and I think they've finally hit the mark! The newer branding is nice and the menu has a nice variety and price point, especially for Baldwin Park. Makes it easy to pop in for a quick meal! I enjoyed a glass of happy hour wine and the Buffalo chicken wrap - the happy hour specials are great and they had some apps as well! The atmosphere is nice enough, but it needs some brightness. The colors are all very dark - black tablecloths, brown and black walls. It could use a refresh. My server was very attentive, which was why I gave three stars and not two. My biggest disappointment was with the food. I came in on a Saturday morning and ordered the breakfast burrito, which, according to the menu was supposed to have scrambled eggs and refried beans, but it had neither. They graciously closed the curtains for us so we weren't blinded by the sunset :) Drinks took a minute but there were 7 of us at HH and I can't blame them - it wasn't too bad of a wait. We ordered a few small plates and DEVOURED them -- the stuffed mushrooms were the #1 hit. Margherita flatbread was super tasty (balsamic, yum) and the wings came out hot and crispy like we wanted. My only qualm was I ordered my salad with the dressing on the side and we had a miscommunication so it came with the dressing on it (a LOT). Otherwise, everyone's dishes came out perfectly fine and I heard zero complaints from the table. Reasonably priced - especially with the HH goodies we ordered - and tasty. Blue Jackets Gastropub is located right on main street in Baldwin Park (great for people watching), once we checked out the menu, we knew we wanted to eat here. We were seated outside and greeted by our server Ally. She was very friendly and checked on us often. I ordered their grilled cheese and tomato basil soup while my husband ordered the cajun chicken alfredo. My grilled cheese had pesto and prosciutto on thick sour dough!!! It was such a good grilled cheese paired with homemade tomato soup with fresh basil. Husband's cajun chicken alfredo was really creamy with the right amount of spice and lots of fresh chicken! We popped in to Blue Jacket Gastropub for a drink after a long walk-through Baldwin Park. We have eaten here in the past and have had very good food. I love the black and blue salad. This visit we just had some boneless wings which were tasty, unfortunately they were not hot. The Bartender was on point with her drinks and she was very knowledgeable. You can sit inside or outside. I had the Margherita flat bread. It was so-so. Decent bar food but not much to go out of your way for. If you're hungry and in front of its doors.....However there are a number of other eateries nearby to try out. The disappointing thing was that at the end of the meal, I usually ask if there is a military discount offered. Unfortunately, the answer was no. For a place that takes its name from the US Navy, sitting on property that used to be the Orlando Naval Base, as well as having a large picture of the USS Blue Jacket on the wall. The USS Blue Jacket being a mock destroyer that the men and women going through the boot camp there would use for training. I was rather unpleasantly surprised that the establishment would not honor the veterans and current service members that have protected and currently protect this nation. read more

I'm not a blue cheese fan, but this was good. Blue Point draft beer at $9 a glass is a bit over the top for a price point for this brew. Short rib dish was good. Tuna did not taste fresh that they tried to hide in a sauce. Cocktails were just okay. We asked for our espresso martini to have a little more coffee. Went to this place for lunch. Ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. Wasn't sure about the portion, because of the price. But it was sliced in 2 half's and it was a perfect portion for lunch. I would say the wrap was a little too salty, for my taste, and slightly too heavy on the sauce (I will ask to put it on the side next time). But the flavor was pretty good. The server was nice. Disappointed first impression. We were very hopeful to love this new restaurant. Seating was quick and easy but our service was not great. Understand that the restaurant is still very new but our server would forget or just not bring out things we asked for. The menu itself is relatively small and we were told there were no plans of adding to it. Most of the food seemed VERY expensive as well. We ordered the fish sandwich (it was mahi), skirt steak and the grilled cheese with tomato soup. The weirdest part was that all of our food seemed to be missing several things that were mentioned on the menu. For example, the skirt steak did not have chimichurri on it and we had to ask for a side of it. The grilled cheese sandwich was delicious but also had no pesto as described. The tomato soup tasted more like a marinara as it was very chunky but paired ok with the sandwich. The fish sandwich was just alright. Fries tasted and looked like they were across the street from Five Guys (not necessarily a bad thing). The creme brûlée was very odd. It looked more like a whipped cream dessert with how much was on the top of it. It tasted fine but the whipped cream overpowered the whole thing. The drink menu (forgot to take a picture) was probably the most impressive part about this place. There were a lot of drink options that looked interesting. Food menu and the service definitely needs some work before we consider coming back. read more

The food is good. We get the burger or lamb sliders. Fish and chips are good. Glad they switched back to the good fries. The beer is way over priced so we just go next door to Tactical or drink less.
