We loved this little place in Willits. The service was excellent and the bread was refilled and served hot I love warm bread! The dips were delicious they were Basil pesto, Extra Virgin olive oil, their house made red sauce Sugo Sauce and balsamic vinegar. We were half way through the bread and dips before I took those pictures. We were getting into the second round of bread when our entrees came. My husband enjoyed the Spaghetti with Creamy Pesto! My mother-in-law loved the Penne with Creamy Pesto! The creamy pesto was different from others I've had more of a buttery pesto not a white sauce pesto it was very fresh and light not heavy!! I had the amazing Rosa Sauce, which is the Sugo sauce mixed with Alfredo loved love loved it on my fluffy creamy cheese ravioli which tasted homemade!! All Pasta was topped with Fresh Romano Cheese it was perfect and I didn't need to add anything more very balanced and flavorful!! Love that they also serve Frey Wine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is basic; plastic red and white checked tablecloths and giant tv. Could be upgraded for sure but go for the food!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Gluten Free options available like Gluten Free Gnocchi and Chickpea Pasta. Plenty for the meat eaters too. We made a point of getting the pasta selections this time because we don't have a sit down Italian restaurant in our town anymore. But tons of Pizza options. I'm a huge fan of sauces and pasta as you can see from other reviews. We're definitely going back for more soon!! It's a small restaurant so if you have a large party you might want to make a reservation.

We've been looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in our area for quite some time and this restaurant is really a little hidden gem . The owner/chef came out and talked with us and asked how we liked our dinners and my Sicilian husband raved about his delicious raviolis topped with freshly made Alfredo sauce. And I really enjoyed the cannoli dessert topped with savory cherry sauce. The waitress was so friendly and very attentive. We enjoyed the whole experience very much! We will definitely be back soon!!

We arrived on a Saturday night and the place was fairly busy. The host was very kind and respectful. I ordered a Caprese salad, which was ok. The tomatoes were fresh and the cheese tasked ok. I was a bit disappointed, but it wasn't a fancy dish to begin with The pene also tasted a bit unflavored. The bread that comes with Pene was good. Overall, it is an ok food and a good place to eat. Nothing to complain.

I was invited to try this place by a friend who heard great things, looking at it from the outside I was skeptical. This is a prime example of 'Don't judge a book by its cover'. There was ample seating with some interesting pictures and art. Our hostess Terri greeted us with her Long Island accent and I was instantly transported back to my youth. She was forthcoming, open, honest and knowledgeable about the menu. The meatballs were giant and hearty, full of flavor. The bread was perfect and came with great dipping sauces. The Sugo with extra artichoke heats was a big hit. I chose penne Puttanesca extra spicy and I cannot rave enough about it. The only thing I missed was the cannoli, which I will break my no sweets diet. I'll be back to try the pizza too, Terri said it was the closest to a New York pie you could get. Give this place a try.

This place was AMAZING! We went for pasta dinner before a half marathon at Avenue of the Giants. They brought us great free bread while we waited and the plates of pasta were huge and all delicious. We got puttanesca with meatballs, arrabbiata with sausage, and shrimp scampi. The puttanesca was especially good. Everything was made to order. Our waitress was phenomenal and very attentive and funny. After the meal the chef actually came out to talk to us and asked who had ordered what and if we had enjoyed it. We weren't going to get dessert but ended up splitting a slice of cheesecake which was also so delicious. So glad we stopped here! We had an awesome time! FYI there's a credit card surcharge so pay cash if you can!

The last slice 3 were taken home, 1 made it back...good stuff.

What a pleasant way to approach a culinary experience. The restaurant has lots of charm. As you approach the front door there's a window into the kitchen where they are making the home made pasta. This definitely sets the tone. The dining area is cozy and has a 'woodsy' ambiance with nice decorative touches, an upstairs mezzanine and a beautiful garden deck/patio out back for dining too. The staff are super friendly and one feels as though you're eating in someone's friends home. The menu has many excellent dishes, primarily pastas. This is northern Italian cuisine so don't expect a lot of red sauces. The soup, a pasta fagioli, seemed interesting so I had a bowl and selected the Penne alla Boscaiola with onion, mushrooms, sausage and a cream sauce. I found the soup a bit underwhelming compared to some hearty types I've had in the past. It seemed to lack the strong richness and the beans were somewhat mushy. It wasn't bad, just different for me. The Penne, however, was a knockout. I haven't had that good a pasta dish in years. All the flavors were spot on and the ingredients perfectly proportioned and melded together. The sauce didn't overwhelm the dish and coated the pasta perfectly. I couldn't have been happier. The pasta here is obviously top notch and I'd love to try many more dishes. I doubt you can go wrong.

There is so much to look at inside this restaurant, and the outside grounds has twists and turns to other garden areas--A mystic backyard for sure! For dinner, We had pasta and salad. The pasta was perfectly cooked--Upgraded to egg fettuccine noodles. The sauce was fresh and wonderfully flavored and covered the noodles with just the right amount of sauce. Not too much and not too little. The hearty smoked salmon salad was great too. I didn't realize it was smoked (missed that on the menu! Haha) I wanted salmon, but it was good with a nice fresh dressing. The bread served is focaccia pieces, rosemary and tomato blends which went well with my salad. Wine list offers a lot of wines. Of course Italian. Enjoy Mendocino!

I wouldn't be surprised if the 5-star reviews for this place are family & friends of the owners & employees. steer clear of this place, friends, there are MUCH better options in Willits go to Karkar's or JD Redhouse for sammiches go to Scoops or JD Redhouse for milkshakes or ice cream go to Mariposa for smoothies

The look is very much a country cafe vibe, yet somewhat upscale too. The lunch outside was so enjoyable. The space and garden is delightful. Seating is far enough apart so you don't feel cramped. I liked that they didn't automatically fall apart when you picked it up. Plus the flavor and tenderness of the fish was spot on perfect. For dinner during a subsequent visit sitting inside at a cozy table was equally enjoyable. Four of us had a tough time choosing entrees as everything on the menu looked appealing. We started and shared the cheese board which was fabulous. Local cheeses were the highlight and ever so good. For my entree I chose the Gnochi with vegetagles. I very much enjoyed the overall dish but the gnochi were somewhat sparse and not that good in texture. Surprisingly that didn't impact the overall impression as everything else in the dish was satisfyingly delicious. It was an adequate portion and the price point good for the quality. We went through two bottles of wine, one suggested by the server. It was spot on. This is a delightful restaurant and if you're in the area definitely make it a stop for either lunch, when available, or especially dinner.

For a couple who ordered 2 appetizers , two main entrees, one bottle of red wine , and two cannolis to share, we spent about 200 which was a little bit pricier than we usual experience at a typical Italian restaurant so just a heads up.
