What really makes it a 5-star operation, though, is the helpfulness of the staff. I recently brought in my regular glasses and sunglasses both for missing screws and popped-out lenses. Both are a couple years old and have lately seemed to come apart on the order of once a month. The woman who works in the front of the store replaced the screws. And then she told me that if this is a regular problem, she could apply some kind of light adhesive to the inside of the frames that helps prevent them from popping apart, if I could leave my glasses there for a few hours. I did, and returned the next day, and am quite pleased with the result. All free of charge. This wasn't the first time I've taken my glasses in there with a problem like this. A year or two back, my regular glasses had lost a screw and come apart and she told me that since they still stocked that frame, she could just replace it entirely. And when I first got these frames, she spent quite a while with me over several days trying to find the right adjustment when I was having issues. This isn't just a get-your-glasses-and-go place. They genuinely care about your long-term satisfaction as a customer.

It's too bad because I liked them and the doctor a lot, even though they were 15 miles from home in the center of Tucson. I chose Sunburst for ONE REASON ONLY. They were very close to where I reside. Factor in gas prices these days, yea I'm retired and frugal. So, I go there for my initial eye checkup appt. (Nice right? A close and short commute) and I am quickly re-scheduled for an additional eye appt IN "GREEN VALLEY"?!?! over 30 miles away (one way). "Vista Eye Care". What's odd is every appt. rescheduled now from here on out is at "Green Valley" (60 miles round trip with gas at $4.50 a gal.) Opposed to "SUNBURST OPTICAL" 7 miles away. Is this conjob to lasso customers away from Tucson and make them drive way down there? Appears so. So every appt here on out they expect me to drive 60 miles rather rather than 14 miles to Sunburst? Right down the road? Hmmm. Apparantly my time and gas costs are no concern to Sunburst/Vista eyecare. Why the different names? Something isn't right here. And as well, a month after my "last" appt in Green Valley, after paying them my $35 copay at "Vista Eye Care", I received an additional bill for something that isn't clear about what the charge is pertaining to, just some abbreviated garble. And trust me, it WAS my last appt. with Sunburst/Vista or whatever they want to call themselves. I'm not driving 60 miles to get my eyes checked when there are hundreds of eye specialists just around the corner from Sunburst optical. Why don't they consider distance and the fact I reached out to Sunburst at Rita Ranch initially NOT Vista in "Green Valley". Are they even concerned one bit about how they are detouring customers down to Green Valley. Tax loophole or whatever they are really trying to do, I'm out! Apparantly it doesn't matter to them, but it matters to me. And they seem more concerned about some vote to be the best optical firm in Tucson when they are really in Green Valley? Man! There is nothing above and beyond what any other optical place/optometrist does for you except running your gas tank empty. Crazy and as backwards as the world today.

My wife picked the frame, I tried them on, and ordered them. My cost was $297. When they were ready to pick up, I tried them on and immediately discovered how flimsy the frame was. This was not apparent without lenses, otherwise I would have never picked them. ANY tilt in the glasses in relation to my eyes resulted in double vision. Dr. Tami tried, in vain, to correct this for over 30 minutes. Obviously, no one can "fix" a flimsy frame. Nevertheless, I took them home on their advise to try them first thing every morning. I did this for almost two weeks, but realized within days this this pair was not going to work for me. I requested a refund but was denied and told this is the store policy. I argued that this pair was unusable and I would not compromise my safety. Imagine while driving, you need to turn your head quickly and double vision is the result. I told them I would not risk this. So I have a pair of unwearable new glasses. I did call a few other optometrists and no other office has such a policy. Not only have they lost me as a patient, but also my wife and my mother. Oh, and I should also mention that when I was discussing this with office staff, she said something very inappropriate. I shrugged it off but Dr Tami needs to know about this to prevent other patients from being castigated for trying to get a refund. Final word: I filed a request with Visa and they sided with me and credited my account the full price. Don't put yourself through this. Sorry Dr. Tami. Maybe you should rethink your policy.
