What really makes it a 5-star operation, though, is the helpfulness of the staff. I recently brought in my regular glasses and sunglasses both for missing screws and popped-out lenses. Both are a couple years old and have lately seemed to come apart on the order of once a month. The woman who works in the front of the store replaced the screws. And then she told me that if this is a regular problem, she could apply some kind of light adhesive to the inside of the frames that helps prevent them from popping apart, if I could leave my glasses there for a few hours. I did, and returned the next day, and am quite pleased with the result. All free of charge. This wasn't the first time I've taken my glasses in there with a problem like this. A year or two back, my regular glasses had lost a screw and come apart and she told me that since they still stocked that frame, she could just replace it entirely. And when I first got these frames, she spent quite a while with me over several days trying to find the right adjustment when I was having issues. This isn't just a get-your-glasses-and-go place. They genuinely care about your long-term satisfaction as a customer.

My wife picked the frame, I tried them on, and ordered them. My cost was $297. When they were ready to pick up, I tried them on and immediately discovered how flimsy the frame was. This was not apparent without lenses, otherwise I would have never picked them. ANY tilt in the glasses in relation to my eyes resulted in double vision. Dr. Tami tried, in vain, to correct this for over 30 minutes. Obviously, no one can "fix" a flimsy frame. Nevertheless, I took them home on their advise to try them first thing every morning. I did this for almost two weeks, but realized within days this this pair was not going to work for me. I requested a refund but was denied and told this is the store policy. I argued that this pair was unusable and I would not compromise my safety. Imagine while driving, you need to turn your head quickly and double vision is the result. I told them I would not risk this. So I have a pair of unwearable new glasses. I did call a few other optometrists and no other office has such a policy. Not only have they lost me as a patient, but also my wife and my mother. Oh, and I should also mention that when I was discussing this with office staff, she said something very inappropriate. I shrugged it off but Dr Tami needs to know about this to prevent other patients from being castigated for trying to get a refund. Final word: I filed a request with Visa and they sided with me and credited my account the full price. Don't put yourself through this. Sorry Dr. Tami. Maybe you should rethink your policy.

I had to stop and ask people for directions just to find the office. What makes this even more outrageous is that the receptionist acknowledged that I was within their stated 10-minute grace period, yet he still refused to see me and told me I needed to reschedule. Since I was experiencing pain in my eye and it took more than a month to get this appointment, I asked - no, begged them -- to reconsider. I explained that I had just driven 3.5 hours to get there. The receptionist took her sweet time going to ask Dr. Bakewell, then came back several minutes later and told me that he refused to see me because I was 10 minutes late. Another receptionist explained that Dr. Bakewell would have had to spend more than 2 hours with me for my appointment. My question is: If that is true, what exactly was Bakewell doing with the next 2.5 hours of his time? Apparently, whatever it was, it was more important than seeing a patient who had driven 3.5 hours to be there. I explained that I was experiencing pain in my eye. They didn't care. There was no attempt to understand the circumstances, no effort to accommodate me, and no regard whatsoever for the fact that I had driven 3.5 hours ONE WAY for this appointment. The lack of compassion and regard for a patient is astounding! Asking me to drive another 7 hours ROUND TRIP was completely unreasonable and, frankly, impossible. At this point, I have to look at what happened as a blessing in disguise. There is no way I will ever let this man touch my eyes. I am still experiencing pain. Now I need to drive to L.A., where a more compassionate doctor has agreed to see me right away Shame on you! I'm going to share this experience with all my friends in Tucson to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else!

Although his staff said he was familiar with the neurological issues I was asking about, he did little to discuss them with me. He also did not ask if I wanted a more natural or allopathic approach. He sent me out the door with an allopathic prescription for something he could have easily addressed with a natural approach. When I called to cancel my follow up appointment, his staff was curt and dismissive and attempted to make me feel badly about cancelling. He is not someone I would seek out if I was looking for a kind, respectful medical practitioner.

Dr Hothi was calm, understanding and very reasonably gave me the prescription I needed to be able to see without agonizing eye fatigue when your brain is too busy trying to bridge the gap between two images that do not match. I read the Fiercely S review and wondered if we saw the same man. I was able to get glasses done at a lense facility in a few hours (only one in Tucson) and climb on a plane at 5:))am the next morning. Thank you Dr. Houti.
