Fritangas is working hard for your business with reduced prices for breakfast specials (their pancakes weren't so great, but the bacon, eggs, and potatoes are tasty and a steal for $2.99), lunch deals, and new menu items like -- sandwiches? Yes, gringo sandwiches, and boy, are they good. The club sandwich is excellent, but today I spotted the turkey sandwich topped with bacon, avocado, cheese, lettuce, and tomato all on huge slices of lightly buttered, toasty grilled bread. Wow. It was enough for two people. I barely made a dent in the heap of fries with it, and I took half the sandwich home. All this for $6.50. Give 'em a try. It's not usually crowded, yet they do have some really good stuff. Huaraches, tortas, cocktel de camarones, lots of authentic stuff, and also Americanized Mexican food for those who like crispy tacos, ground beef, and so on. Wow! How have I not heard of this place before our good fortune (and Yelp) led us in?! The most authentic Mexico City style Mexican food we have found. The only other comparable is Chili Verde (spellingis correct...unfortunately), with their authentic Puebla influenced Mexican food. Fritangas is better! After the first bites I had to ask where the owners originated from, and as expected was told Mexico City. I appreciated a number of things about Fritangas including great a la carte soft chile relleño for $2, awesome chips and salsa, decent carne asada tacos, and the fact they serve breakfast all day. My son was beside himself when he learned he could have pancakes, bacon, eggs, and hash browns for dinner. The restaurant is really clean and the service was great. We will be back! It's a month later and we have visited eleven times total. We now love the fajitas, flautas, beef tacos (Gringo style- but they fry their own taco shells), smothered breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros, and their aguas naturales. Tried this little gem today!! Those that know us know we go an little food adventures every now again today was one of those days. We wanted some yummy tongue street tacos, yes that's right beef tongue...this place served just that, along with tender and juice asada, and pastor tacos fresh lime and onion and cilantro on the side as asked because my hubby dislikes onions and cilantro and the kiddo hates cilantro, but I love it all. The salsa was so good and flavorful we had 3, 1 came with a basket of chip so yummy, and 2 types that came with the tacos. They were so delicious not over powering the perfect match for the meats we ordered also not too spicy. We also ordered drink, the mangocolada and limón fresca. everything we tried was AMAZING! The food is incredible...at least the Huevos Rancheros was that I ordered. There was a ton of food and I could not finish it all. The staff was incredibly gracious acting as a team to help everyone in the restaurant, not just their section. I was there last weekend with a group of friends and the food and service were exceptional. There are very few good Mexican restaurants around Denver and this is one of them. The food at this pace is amazing,customer service it's great,the only thing that I've being noticing it's the tip. They put the tip on your check, even if you are a party of 2. After I confronted them they denying it, they were saying it was the taxes but come on ! I know what gratuity means !!! after the lady kept it denied it, i added everything up right in front of her and it didn't make sense. I was gonna leave tip on cash but I guess it was not an option. I've been to Fritangas twice, for breakfast both times. Others in my family have had dinner there as well and report equally positive experiences. It really doesn't catch your attention from the outside, but If you like bright colors (I love bright colors), as you step through the door it immediately engages your senses with a brilliant yellow, red and white decor. I don't know but I'm assuming that Fritangas is family-owned and operated, and pride of ownership and a commitment to quality is apparent throughout. The paint is fresh and the restaurant is clean and well-maintained. Staff are sharp in black slacks and white shirts and blouses, and are very polite, gracious and professional. The menu itself is laminated - nice touch because they can keep them clean and sharp like the restaurant. Is anyone else grossed out by a menu that's sticky with salsa and who knows what else from previous diners, or is it just me? The menu is large in terms of options, mainly, but not exclusively, Mexican food. We've had Mexican breakfasts both times and my peeps who have had dinner at Fritangas have had Mexican food as well and it has all been excellent. If you're curious about their menu, they have a decent website (except for annoying music that comes on as soon as the page loads). Be aware that the site was last updated in 2008, but the menu looks pretty much the same except for prices understandably being a dollar or two higher in 2013. Still, it's very inexpensive and a great value. I like the food at Fritangas a lot - the food quality coupled with the value received is as good as you're going to get in a neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Still, we have lots of good Mexican food in Denver to choose from. Even more than the food at Fritangas, I appreciate the obvious hard work of the owners and staff to create and sustain a first-class small business in a very competitive market. This is what most sets Fritangas apart from much of its competition, and I really like encouraging and supporting the professionalism and quality that they're bringing to their part of the Westwood neighborhood. read more

Tried this place yesterday for lunch. I was a little confused when I walked in as to weather or not to seat myself and wait for a waitress to come by, or to go to the counter and order. I ended up going to the counter to get a menu and the guy at the counter said to pick a table and he would come by and take care of me. So I'm still not sure how it works. After all that confusion I was able to order. The food was very good, not what I'm used to, coming from Texas, but some of the best since I have been in Colorado. Cute little Mexican restaurant that has wonderful food. My favorite part, is the menu has a lot of the authentic foods I grew up eating, i.e, the enfrijoladas (you won't find anywhere else) and other unique Mexican dishes that we love. This is the some of the best Mexican food in Denver. The breakfast is great and affordable, but they also have a lighter fare for children and people not craving burritos. My favorites are the veggie(non-meat) menu items, most places in Denver don't cater to people that either don't eat meat, or are vegetarians.
