The Hermosa location is amazing. I have been coming here for many years and the food is fantastic each and every time without the crazy prices. It's very unassuming but don't let that fool you. We love the gluten free rigatoni with pink sauce, the regular rigatoni with pink sauce and sausage, the alfredo, the spinach linguini with basil cream, the misto salad, and the lemon bar for desert. Pretty much every dish is really good quality and it just depends what you are in the mood for...you can't go wrong as you can even create your own pasta dishes. Many of the staff "Gabby and Manny" have been there for as long as i have been going and they are so personable and truly the best people. Went to eat here for a birthday dinner with some friends! I thought the pastas were super unique and cool, and the portions are definitely food coma worthy. My one comment is the pillows is one of their signature dishes- I did feel it was slightly dry (which is why you need to dip it into the sauce), and while it was good I don't think I preferred the texture. I am so sorry. There was one server who was an absolute sweet heart, but she couldn't save what came out to our tables. My pasta literally smelled like I would get food poisoning, and tasted like everything was canned.. pasta included. I had to douse it in chili flakes and salt to get some flavor but to no success. Went to Fritto Misto with my family for lunch and had the most delicious pasta! I got the Pillows Checca and it was divine. It was a little on the lighter side, considering it's pasta, but tasted delicious. I do wish there were more tomatoes to make up for the sauceless dish. Nonetheless, the flavors were there! They give you complimentary bread with olive oil and basalmic vinegar. I got the chicken Parmesan Hermosa which was huge, and made for great leftovers the following day for lunch. The shrimp gnocchi is also a good call if you like creamy white sauces. For those who are pickier, you can opt to customize your own pasta. I went here last night with my girlfriend and 2 friends for dinner. I love Italian food and I've tried different Italian restaurants in LA. I ordered the shrimp Alfredo and I can honestly say it was the best Alfredo sauce I've ever had. I asked others on my table to try it and they also agreed. I don't think I can ever order Alfredo anywhere else. The Caesar salad was also very delicious. The staff were great. We were promptly seated on a Thursday evening and they were kind enough to oblige when my friend's kid asked for the largest booth in the front of the restaurant for just the 3 of us as it was pretty empty inside. Our server was pleasant but he did bring us the check without us asking when we still wanted dessert, and the salads took quite a while to come out with mine coming out 5 minutes before my friend's. The menu is large and you can do everything from creating your own pasta to ordering one of their specialty pastas and they have a section with plenty of vegetarian specialties. I started with the Caesar Salad. I'm not a fan of grated parmesan on my Caesar and especially at an Italian restaurant I would expect some nice shaved parm, but the lettuce was crisp and the dressing was good. I ordered the Spicy Shrimp Ravioli which comes in a garlic cream sauce with cajun seared chicken. We had the fried pillow appetizer. The flavor was good, but the texture was a bit odd. Not really crispy, not really chewy, kinda tough. Hubby had one of the specials, a pork tenderloin with garlic fettuccine. He said the pork was good, but the pasta was on the bland side. I ordered the Atomic Pasta- blackened chicken with roasted peppers over pasta with chipotle cream sauce. It was labeled "spicy" but wasn't. Again it wasn't BAD, just not great. Hermosa Beach is dazzling with beach activities and this area is known for its vibrant local cuisine. We ordered a new appetizer for us. The Fried Pillows are a must! The chipotle dipping sauce makes it an excellent pairing. I'd go there just for that. Just saying. The bread and butter are tasty. Stopped by for late lunch on Saturday and everything was great. Service was quick and friendly, food was delicious, and dessert was the perfect sweet treat after. We ordered jumbo ravioli and short rib ravioli and it was all amazing. The short rib ravioli is super savory with a nice kick of heat, nothing overbearing. The jumbo ravioli had tons of prosciutto and a fair amount of sun dried tomatoes which balanced out the flavors really well. When we were finished with our ravioli I had to take our bread to sop up the leftover sauce cuz it was that delicious. It lacked flavor...it was not what I expect from Fritto Misto, because it is one of my favorite restaurants. Maybe it was an off day or just this location. This place seems hum drum upon walking in, but it's shockingly good. We like to come here when we just want a cozy bar to belly up to and just relax. There is no pretense. This place is not fancy. The food is solid. The prices are fair. The bartenders are great. Seriously. They are super honest about what is good and what isn't. (That being said, don't get the soup unless they tell you it's good that day. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't) We learned recently that they get lots of crazy deals of wines and liquor. You can find some amazing wines here that should be triple the price. But, they buy in large lots with the goal to share good wines at a great price for their customers.
