The Little Oliva is a chain restaurant. The decor at this location is similar to the one on the hill, and it's very inviting. I really like the ambiance. It wasn't until I went to use the restroom that I realized just how much seating they have, both indoors and outdoors. They open the doors wide open so you can enjoy the wonderful beach air while sitting indoors, too. I was advised I could sit anywhere, so I chose a table outdoors in the corner. The majority of the tables in the outdoor front area are shaded and comfortable. I could feel the ocean air blowing through. I ordered a latte with oat milk and the Greek Omelette which comes with a side of potatoes, side salad, and bread. No design in my latte this time. This is the thing, the food looks way better than it tastes. It's all a little bland. From the latte to the food. The roasted potatoes were most likely the best tasting item on my plate. The service was friendly and efficient. She noticed a gnat was in my glass of ice water when she was pouring and replaced it immediately, before placing it on my table.

I had previously booked a table for 6pm on February 6th to celebrate my husband's birthday and specifically requested to be seated near the live performer, having had a positive experience at this restaurant previously for a friend's birthday dinner with a party of 8. I dropped off the birthday cake in the afternoon. However, upon arrival, the waiter Gregory informed us that there was no record of our reservation, despite my showing him the confirmation text and the cake. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were offered a table far from the performer, which was not what we wanted, so we left without dining.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This resulted in a disappointing conclusion to what was supposed to be a special evening. Photos attached were proofs!

My friend and I were craving Mediterranean and after a little Yelp search we found The Little Olivia! Whether grabbing dinner with a friend, having a date night, or a large gathering, this place can accommodate all avenues. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating flowing into each other without being/feeling too cramped. We were greeted shortly after arriving around 6pm on a Monday night. We were given the option to sit wherever we would like since it wasn't too crowded, but slowly got more busy into the night. Our server was very friendly, although I can't remember if he introduced himself or not, so I'm not sure what his name is. He answered any questions we had about to menu and gave us time to decide. He checked in on us throughout the meal and made sure our waters were filled. They brought out pita and olives, which was lovely (although we aren't olive people). The pita was simple on its own but nice as a complementary starter. We were able to split our meal as both were generous in size with leftovers. The fish was flavorful and very moist, but there were many bones so beware! Plenty of side salad and yummy seasoned veggies, as well as several tasty roasted potatoes! The pizza was good, nothing out of this world, but I did like the delicious truffle oil flavor. Perfect thin crust for me! Overall, had a very enjoyable first experience at this restaurant in the Rivera Village. They do have a bathroom and parking on the street with paid meters until 9pm. Prices are decent for upscale Mediterranean cuisine. I will definitely come again!

The menu also features traditional Pakistani, Persian, and Arabic dishes, such as Beef Nihari and Haleem. After several visits, here are my thoughts on some of their grilled meats and desserts. Beef Kofta - 3/5. The kofta was a bit dry and tough. I wish it had more fat and seasoning to make it juicier and more flavorful. The grilling is also somewhat inconsistent--sometimes the kofta comes out beautifully browned, while other times it's over-charred. Grilled Fish - 4/5. This is easily my favorite item on the menu and, in my opinion, their best dish. The fish is seasoned just enough to enhance its natural flavor without overpowering it. It's grilled very well, developing a beautiful golden-brown crust while remaining moist and tender inside. Beef Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. The quality of the beef is decent, especially considering the price. Given the cut of meat they use, they've done a commendable job with the grilling. The beef has a solid seasoning base and a nice sear with just enough char to add flavor without becoming overly smoky. It's reasonably tender, though I wish it retained a bit more juiciness. Chicken Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. Very similar to the beef shish kebab. It has good flavor and is grilled well, but it could benefit from being a little juicier. Gyro - 2/5. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The gyro meat on the vertical spit often appears to be rotating without enough heat to properly caramelize and crisp the exterior. As a result, the meat comes across as dry, rubbery, and lacking the rich roasted flavor that makes a great gyro. Kunafa (Knafeh) - 3/5. This dessert has both strengths and weaknesses. The cheese filling has a pleasant, slightly salty flavor and a creamy texture, and I appreciate that it isn't overly sweet. However, the syrup is underwhelming. A good kunafa should be generously coated with a fragrant sugar syrup - ideally infused with rose water or orange blossom water - to provide sweetness and aroma. I also wish the kataifi, the shredded pastry dough, were crispier and lighter to create a better contrast with the gooey cheese filling. Overall, Al Hamra Kabob Grill is one of the better places to enjoy Middle Eastern-style grilled dishes in the South Bay. While a few menu items could be improved, the grilled fish stands out as excellent, and the shish kebabs are solid choices. The owner is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm, neighborhood atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. It's not perfect, but it's a restaurant I enjoy visiting from time to time and one I'd recommend if you're craving grilled Middle Eastern flavors.

Plus this particular evening they had a BOGO special so I didn't have to cook the next day! The balance of lettuce to chicken to rice is fantastic. Sometimes I stuffed it in a pita with a smear of the white garlic sauce. Sometimes I dipped my fork in the garlic sauce then filled my fork with a mouthful of salad. Originally I was going to say that I wish the dressing stood out more, but it would probably feel like too much with the white garlic sauce. I also got the small chicken soup which I saved for another night - but because my throat had a tickle. It was the perfect portion and I loved the seasoning and crispy pita chip strips!

Despite my…read morelove for this style of cuisine, it's rare (if ever) that I feel *surprised* by a dish anymore. I can usually guess exactly what the dish will taste like when I see it. It was our first time eating here at lunch today, and Atta Girl threw me and my husband for a loop on everything. First, I'm giving an A+ for their seat-yourself arrangement that they've mastered with a combination of numerous attentive servers AND a QR code ordering option. This staff works as a true team, which I find really cool. Everyone who works here maintained a very relaxed and pleasant attitude despite the big lunch rush. A+ for their menu as well. I could've closed my eyes and picked anything at random, and I would've been happy with it. They've got lots to choose from without being overwhelming. We chose to share the Loaded Streetcart Fries, the Spicy Whipped Feta, the Hen of the Woods Mushroom Skewer Platter, and some NA beers to drink. Every dish was a generous portion of perfectly balanced ingredients and flavors--tangy, bright, spicy, zesty, sweet, savory, salty, fatty, comfort, refreshing. Nothing fell flat. Every bite hit, and damn did we eat every bite. For dessert we had the Basque Cheesecake, the Chocolate Torte, and the Donuts. No notes. None. The chefs at Atta Girl know how to throw down. Coriander in coffee ice cream on a brown butter carameled chocolate torte?! GTFO I was already in love with you guys but then you had to go extra. That orange marmalade moat surrounding your cheesecake? Call me Paddington. The lemon drizzled donuts with peach glaze served in a cute lil pink box? Stahhhp. Usually a big meal with lots of items leaves us with a clear winner, or at least a standout, but neither of us could even begin to rank what we ordered. Everything was unique and high quality and delightful to eat. This cute little beachy vibe spot just went ahead and made itself my favorite restaurant in Hermosa. If Atta Girl handed me a yearbook to sign, I'd scrawl "DON'T EVER CHANGE" in permanent marker. Atta Girl is a gem and we are lucky to have her. I've already made a long list in my head of all the people I can't wait to bring here when they come to visit us.
