Well, this was an anticipated opening for me. I think I first went to Mickey's Hermosa 20 years ago. Well, the great parts is that the dude (young Asian dude) working was really nice, and good at his job. They were really really busy! He's a good employee, and the type of person who brings back business. Well, I can't say this was as memorable as Hermosa. I'm not sure why. I mean, it's gotta be the same recipes and ingredients. The bread didn't seem as fresh as Hermosa. That could also be from the humidity, but who knows. In any case, I'm glad it's here, and it's still probably the best sandwich spot in beach cities. So, I have a new rating system......I will be write what I feel honestly about an establishment. My husband has been wanting to try Mickey's Italian ever since he saw this new location on Artesia Blvd. I didn't feel like going out so he picked up a large pastrami sandwich for us to share at home. He said that they were very busy when he stopped in. Parking was in the gas station adjacent to the deli. The sandwich was ok, little pricey, but fed both of us. I found the pastrami a bit salty and probably wouldn't order it again. I've heard their pizzas are good and would try that sometime. read more

First of all to the man behind the counter telling me to try the ricotta cake its his favorite I applaud you . I was a bit apprehensive about ricotta being in my cake but 10/10 on flavor profile. Also picked up a French dip and a slice of Paulie spicy vodka pizza. The French dip is very good, my only issue was that dip was well seasoned and so was the sandwhich causing it to be a bit much when you doused it in the sauce. Sam and Genesis provided excellent ***** five star service when we visited and we tried the Lunch Special for $10, featuring 2 slices and a soda... it's a good meal portion for one hungry person or adequate for a "Father and Son" or 2 person meal with each having a slice. The slice is a thin crust, not the dried cracker thin type, but has enough dough for a sturdy crisp supportive bottom and dough cushion to be moist and fresh tasting while mot excessive with heavy carbs that inevitably can create an unbalanced ratio of sauce to crust/dough to sauce to cheese to toppings ratio.. Mickey's has the perfect balance So, within one week, I tried their Sandwich (Pastrami), their Pasta (Meat Sauce) and their Pizza (pepperoni slice). The food is fresh, service is fast and friendly. Parking has been easy. My timing might be impeccable because I've not (yet) had to wait in any long lines. The place is clean. My only comment for subjective improvements would be adding indoor seating to eat/dine-in casually, as it can be windy and weather contingent seating outdoors... However, logistically there is no room inside to accommodate tables, a counter ledge nor seating. I did find out paying with cash will save you the 3% charged for credit card use because businesses are charges by their merchant bank that (or sometimes a greater %) fee, which is pretty normal in today's world of retail businesses and restaurants to offset overhead. I heard about this place from my old job. We used to order catering from the location in Hermosa Beach a few times. Its sad to say that I forgot what I used to order, but I remember the food being so good. I'm glad they opened this new location that is closer to my new job. It's located right next to the Mobil gas station and it has a fairly small parking lot. I came here at the top of the hour for lunch and it wasn't packed so that was good. I don't remember ever trying the pasta so I ordered the Bowtie Chicken Alfredo Pasta. I got a regular bowl and a regular fountain drink. It also comes with garlic bread on the side and it was good! It tasted like there was enough flavor so that was satisfying to me. I'm glad I have had the opportunity to come back here and try this place again after not having it in a very long time. I was so excited to find out you were coming closer!! I was bummed you don't serve breakfast all day but I happened to walk up and the owners son ,Mickey spoke to my husband and I and explained the grill gets really messy from the eggs. He was really nice and really seemed to love and have pride for what he does. My husband and I both ordered the beef steak and cheese and it was really good. The bread tasted fresh also which is a plus! There are some long tables on the out side /side area which is nice to have an option to seat and eat it hot! The pizza sauce had a little bit of tartness. The cheese was gooey. My only criticism would be that the sandwich bread was a little too chewy for my taste. MI shares a lot with a Mobil gas station. Was looking forward to a pastrami deluxe and it was very poorly executed. The pastrami was scraps, dry, oily, and overcooked and looked like the stuff that was sitting on the flattop for awhile. Stuff should have been thrown out or may be the cooks need to be better trained. Definitely they didn't hook me up The sandwich was more of a lettuce sandwich as that was the primary star and the amount of pastrami was lacking I will try again and go during lunchtime maybe the pastrami will be fresher and more generous or the cook will have more pride in making the food. I went there today for the first time, excited to try the food. Unfortunately, the Hermosa chicken sandwich was one of the most tasteless sandwiches I've ever had. Despite being listed as grilled, the chicken was not grilled, it was overcooked and had an unpleasant smell. Additionally, the bread was far too thick, and there was barely any avocado. We stopped by Mickey's Deli for the grand opening of their second location. We were so excited to go because we had seen the signage and had been waiting for the new location to open. We arrived about an hour early, and there was already a line. It was so nice to see everyone coming out to support them. Before we arrived, we were not sure if there would be parking or an eating area, but there was plenty of parking in the lot, and they have a very nice outdoor eating area with shade. The line moved quickly, and everyone working there was warm and welcoming. The pizza was amazing, as always. We got a cheese pizza and two pepperoni pizzas. The Redondo Chicken Cutlet Sandwich, with breaded chicken, mozzarella, arugula, tomatoes, pesto aioli, and balsamic, had such a thoughtful blend of flavors and textures.
