We had a reservation for 7 PM. They sent us immediately. The table was clean and everything was placed perfect. We were greeted and brought waters immediately. Our drinks came out delicious. We wanted something that was more of a mocktail so they made us something with honey and ginger. Beer was really good. The food came out hot and the noodles pasta were cook perfectly. It was a very romantic setting for many and a great place for those to celebrate. It creates a great place for community to come together.

This is a small Italian restaurant in Manhattan Beach with a cozy, relaxed vibe. We went there around 5 PM for happy hour, and the prices were really good. We ordered a few appetizers to share, and honestly every dish was delicious. Maybe because we were enjoying wine and good company, everything tasted even better. For the entrees, the portions were bigger than typical Italian restaurants. Or maybe we were already a bit full from the appetizers -- not sure. But we still finished everything, so that says a lot about the quality and taste. The regular prices are on the higher side, as expected for Italian food, but the happy hour makes it very worth it. They have a nice wine list with many options to choose from. The menu is not too big, which I actually like -- it makes it easy to decide. Service is standard and professional. The atmosphere is friendly, casual, and comfortable. Definitely a nice spot to enjoy good food and wine with friends.

Came here for a special occasion with my family, and we loved it! We made a reservation for a Saturday evening, and it wasn't crowded. Service was courteous and attentive. For appetizers, we got the Fried Calamari. It was tender, crispy, and served with a trio of dipping sauces (marinara, tartar, and horseradish cocktail). I appreciated they variety of sauces, since not everyone likes a cocktail sauce. We also got two of their special appetizers. One was ricotta stuffed figs wrapped in prosciutto, and the other was ricotta stuffed squash blossoms with a side of marinara. Both were very good! For my entree, I got the Crab Crusted Sea Bass. They gave a decent sized piece of sea bass topped with grilled snow crab. The linguine had Orvieto white wine, lemon shrimp, and julienned zucchini and squash. I really enjoyed this dish! I also tried some of the King Salmon with asparagus risotto. They use a lot of peppercorn in this dish, but it wasn't too overpowering. The salmon was moist and tender! I tried some of the short rib special, as well as one of the pasta dishes, and both were great as well! Everyone in my party was happy with their meals! Parking is metered street parking or one of the nearby metered lots.

4 stars mainly for service and tasty cocktails. Our server Victoria was a highlight -attentive and friendly. Came here for a birthday with a party of 7. This spot is cozy and cute with dim lighting in the main dining area which could probably benefit from more candles or other mood lighting. Food was just ok for me, but maybe it was the choices I made that were disappointing. I love myself a good heirloom burrata salad but the one I tried was lacking in flavor, the texture was fine but flavor was mehhh. I also enjoy gnocchi but again it was lack luster. I'm very glad I got the smaller appetizer portion instead of the entree portion. Plating and presentation of the dishes was well done, but again flavors were missing for me.

super yummy and amazing service. Giovanni (I feel terrible- I think that was his name) was our server and he was absolutely outstanding and knew the menu inside and out as I have a couple food allergies (gluten is the main one). I ordered the potato crusted halibut over mashed potatoes and it was so good! Hubby ordered the pasta bolognese and he said it was one of the best he's ever had. Drinks were also great. All around awesome experience and we would definitely come back.

You go and find new places, some good, some not that good, but you'll be back for the places you love. I been visiting Mangiamo Ristorante for at least 15 years and I always come back, like yesterday. Normita and me were debating about where to go, to any of the new places in the South Bay and we decided to go back to our beloved Mangiamo. Why? Because of everything that Mangiamo is... excellent food like the delicious creme of potato and the old but new spaghetti Cacio e Pepe and of course my two ice naked Martinis. Everything under an old fashion mirror dinning room lightly lighted. Service, no doubt friendly, immediate and making you feel welcome and part of the family!!! I think I'll be coming back many times as my life goes on... it's worth it...

    Bread pudding was mouth watering.

Food was excellent! It was my first time there and I'm definitely going back. I ordered the chicken Parm. Chicken was tender and juicy and the fettuccine Alfredo was creamy but not overpowering. Perfect balance. Our server was outstanding, very attentive and welcoming. The place is a little small but cozy and romantic if you want to go on a date. Overall, we had a great experience.

I'll say that the tartare is pretty good and the presentation of all of the dishes were nice. I've been a couple times seated at the bar and the bartender is always attentive and knowledgeable when we have questions. He always has a good wine to pair with our dish. Last to mention, the place is not big but is perfectly located steps from the sand.

Probably the best carbonara I've ever had !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a little dark in there. Service was good!

Great Italian place, it's been here awhile and always have a great service and food. The only complaint is that they don't make their own pasta here, wish they did. I love fresh homemade pasta. I think the only homemade pasta is the bolognese with Papadelle. Ambiance is very cozy and never knew they had more seatings in the waaay back of restaurant. Almost felt like a restaurant you would find somewhere in Italian. Much bigger space than I thought when you first walk in. They do have pretty good gluten free pasta which tasted like regular pasta. Appetizer: * Dinner rolls (these are just average tasting rolls, nothing special) * grilled tiger prawns - tasty * meatballs - good but too much cheese on it... Dinner: * crab crusted sea bass- delicious, light in taste and well balanced with good chunk of crab meat with gluten free pasta * Osso Buco- very rich in flavor (husband loved it) * classic bolognese - the only fresh pasta dish. Very good, thick sauce Desserts: * tiramisu * butter cake (had better ones, can't beat Mastros). I think for being an Italian restaurant in South Bay, it's pretty good. I will say for the price and what's out there, there are much better Italian restaurants in general.

My husband and I ate here for the first time on Valentine's Day. There was a fixed menu with a few selections for each course offered. I had the chopped salad which had these unique fried Brie croutons and linguine with tiger prawns and a tomato sauce. It was supposed to be spicy but wasn't at all so that was disappointing but the ingredients seemed fresh and clean. My husband had a Greek inspired salad and the chilean sea bass with a soy or teriyaki type glaze. It was just ok and for the price it was also disappointing. However the service was excellent and the bartender made me a good mocktail with lemon and ginger. I would give the food a 3 and the service a 5.

The calamari was solid. I really enjoyed the three sauces they give you, that definitely took it up a notch. The special appetizer was stuffed zucchini with cheese and sour cream I believe. It paired so well with the tomato bisque type sauce/soup. Really good I would order again! The blackened chicken pasta was great! Lots of flavor and good amount of chicken well seasoned. The sauce is a lot lighter in consistency but flavor was there! Service was good. Inside is small so recommend a reservation. Parking can also be a challenge since it's in Downtown so prepare for that.

We had reservations for Saturday at 7. The traffic and parking was expected but delayed our entrance. A phone call helped hold our table- nice. Walking in from the Manhattan Beach Pier the place is classy with the grace of the old school Italian restaurant. The acoustics were a little loud but the vibes were blissful. We ordered a house salad to share and it was good for the three of us. *had to order bread. That was a problem with me being Italian, bread is seen to be given freely. Non the less the server, Fidel, was courteous and on the ball. I ordered a Malbec and it was cheers! My girl ordered the Chicken Marsala. The chicken was tender and Marsala reduction was light and subtle with just enough sweetness. Mushrooms were cooked just right. The dish comes with a side of fettuccine Alfredo, in the dish. I know some might like this but for me they clash. Perhaps remember to tell your server fettuccine with simple olive oil or butter. I chose the Osso Buco. Cooked perfect in a Sherry wine sauce with root vegetables over creamy polenta. A generous portion, wonderful taste, and Barely stopped short of being salty. Excellent. My daughter decided on the Crab Crusted Sea Bass. A nice portion of fish with crab stuffing on top sitting on a julienne zucchini linguine in a tasty Orvieto white wine with shrimp. A very tasty dish. (Sadly the fish and crust were slightly over cooked and a bit dry). Not bad enough to waste and send back she utilized the wine sauce and still enjoyed. I asked for something special to pair with my second glass of Malbec and they arrived with a chocolate bread pudding with strawberries grapes and cream. Drenched in hot fudge. deliziosa! It cannot get much better than Mangiamo's. Traditional Italian cuisine in a hip town where many others slide into tourist traps. This is a place to visit. Cin cin!

We started with cocktails. I had the Mary Sue ("Pornstar Martini") with vodka, vanilla, passionfruit, salted lime, fino sherry, and champagne foam. YUM. Dangerously good. My husband had the Rob Gentile, an elevated Old Fashioned, and was thoroughly impressed. Service was great, and the food was top-notch. Let's dive in! Meatballs with beef, pork, ricotta, potato purée, tomato sauce, Grana Padano, and arugula--WOW. Cheesy, saucy perfection. Beef Tartare with tonnato, shallot, marjoram, crispy potato, and toast. Delicious and a generous portion. I ordered Coop's Pork Shank with Lambrusco-mustard glaze, aromatic jus, and potato purée. Tender, flavorful, and that broth was incredible. It paired perfectly with the broccolini... ...which we didn't order. We spotted the table next to us enjoying it with burrata and immediately added it to our "next time" list. My son ordered the Chicken Parm with capellini. He loved the huge chicken parm portion, which successfully fed his bottomless teenage appetite, but declared the pasta "too eggy." Teenagers are basically unpaid Michelin critics. My husband ordered the Scarpinocc with braised beef cheek, brown butter, sage, and saba. He loved it, but our resident food critic chimed in with, "I don't really taste the beef." Dessert was the cinnamon bread pudding with ice cream and caramel drizzle--absolutely worth saving room for. Everything was delicious, portions were generous, and we left happy (and full enough to feed a small submarine crew). Definitely coming back!

I'm guessing since they're coming to a permanent closure, it only makes sense that the quality of the experience (food and service) had began to going down. We were seated immediately, so we were off to a good start. It took a bit of time for Daniel (yep! We got the same server from the last time) to come around and get our orders. It wasn't too bad since the wait gave us the opp to decide on apps and mains, so we got to put all our orders in at once. CALAMARI: Battered thin and crispy. Dash of lemon juice made it better. Quality? Yes. Quantity? Not so much. I thought it was pricey for the amount we got. PEPPERCORN POLPETTINE: Meatballs in cream sauce. Even with the whole peppercorns, the sauce was good. The meatballs, however, didn't taste or look homemade at all. (I recently made frozen meatball soup at home and the meatball's flavor was pretty much similar.) So.. meh... BRUSCHETTA ALLA CHECCA: This was the best app out of the three. Crostini was perfect and the toppings were all perfectly balanced. SPAGHETTI AI NERO DI SEPPIA: Looked great, but lacked flavor. Asked for fresh grated cheese and added black pepper which helped a little, but still missing something... Hubbers got the linguine pesca mare which he loved (he emptied his plate!) So I guess that says a lot. And I'm really glad he liked it, being his birthday and all. He also chose crème brûlée to finish off his birthday treat. (No, they didn't comp it - which is fine, and I don't expect them - or any business - to, even more since they are shutting down. I understand they need all the profit they can get.)
