We loved the bright and airy sunroom with Parisien flair, friendly service and most of all the delicious French inspired lunch entrées! The lunch menu offered a nice variety of healthy, savory selections. It was refreshing to have creative seafood options, as with the salmon Wellington. I would definitely recommend giving Froggy's a try, lunch prices were reasonable and the quality was excellent! Finally tried it and definitely do not recommend! The specials list is a mile long. I'm nearly certain that I rolled my eyes. He kept talking. Same thing with dessert menu. I did not want to order dessert. He asked not once or twice but like 8 times in a row. I was not smiling. No giggles. If that was any other situation, I would walk out claiming that he made me uncomfortable. Need better waitstaff. Oysters rockefeller served warm with bacon? Beef bourguignon with couscous? Lamb chops with couscous? Menu and execution will benefit when they find a head chef or owner/operator with a palate. Service was great though when we walked in no one was there to direct us to the correct space for eating. The waitress and waiter were super kind and friendly. Now, the food was a bit of a disappointment. We were served the Caesar salad which tasted artificial and leaving our palettes unsatisfied. The plates were burning hot but how come the potatoes on the plate were cold? Not to mention some of the vegetables having inconsistent cook times, a carrot being raw and then the broccoli almost overcooked. The shrimp was super tasty, but I was questioning why the pasta was dry. The desserts were not the best part. I was served the poached pear that was ice cold, and it confused me, why was there ice cream and no pear mousse? The ice cream was horrible because I could tell it was frost bitten. The food was average, the price was outrageous and the portions were small. The escargot was with a pastry type item that was meh. The lamb chops were rough, the salad was tasteless and the espresso martini was an attempt to be trendy that fell short. The only reason I am giving two stars because the waiter was on it,m. My partner (musicians) and I were playing for Nashwood, last night and looking for a place to grab a bite before our show. We took a walk around and found ourselves in this absolutely adorable French restaurant where, despite not being dressed for an elegant meal (flannel/jeans/boots), we were greeted as if we were friends and welcomed into the restaurant without hesitation. I saw escargot and knew that I wanted that! And my partner ordered the special seabass which had the BEST potatoes accompanying it with a delicious sauce. The gentleman who sat us noticed that I had eaten my escargot and brought a 2nd plate AND a DELICIOUS bowl of mushroom soup, so I wasn't left watching my friend eat. Service was quick, and delightful and everything was so inviting! It was also a sweet moment to look up during our show, and the kind gentleman who took care of us was supporting us in the crowd! So disappointed with the food here. First I'll say I made a reservation for a table for 6 to celebrate my husbands birthday. The ambience was nice and we were seated right away but there were so many flies. It was annoying constantly trying to keep them from our food and table. The service was 5 star, our servers were lovely and made my husbands birthday special with a candle in his creme brûlée... now the food... Sadly everyone in our party was disappointed and we ordered a huge mix of menu items. We spent over $650 not including tip. The French onion soup was atrocious, we ordered 2, my friend was disgusted, tasted like sour lemon soup. Both of us didn't finish them and it's our absolute favorite soup to order but definitely NOT here. Awful. I regret not asking the waiter to it off the bill. My husband ordered veal and it was the strangest dish, literally looked like a goulash, couldn't tell what the meat was, awful again. The cheese plate was literally a pear cut into small slices with 5 tiny slices of cheese on it, more pear then cheese. Sadly all our guests were disappointed with the cuisine. Made me feel bad because I made the reservation. Would not come back here. It's a pity because the location and ambiance is great just the food isn't worth it. read more

This experience was downhill with the first plate served. Description of food and what you get misleading....ordered salad w/beets and got shaved dried beets with no flavor. Our friend ordered the sea bass which was quite pricey and received the thinnest fillet of fish I've ever seen. Truffle fries were dry, overcooked, and had little flavor. Asked for ketchup. This place has certainly set my expectations high for fine dining. It is the most delicious french cuisine I've ever had. The location is beautiful and i highly recommend sitting outside if possible to enjoy the city vibe. The manager there is so nice and welcoming. The food is absolutely amazing. The prices are high but that's why it's labeled as fine dining. It is well worth the price and experience. The escargots were buttery and smooth. The shrimp had an exotic flavor. The special of the day which was a white fish with their specialty sauce was divine. It also came with a salad that had the most delicate in-house vinaigrette. The wine we ordered was a perfect middle of sweet and dry. Our waiter was kind and we were constantly being checked up on and given bread refills when needed. My parents used to come here all the time. Are used to think it was too froufrou for me, but it's not at all had some great cocktails, followed by the pate platter. one has two expectations upon going to a french restaurant: exuberant prices and great food. Sadly, only the first applied here. The place looks good: appropriately cozy and inviting, Our waiter, however, was anything but. Never bothering to introduce our dishes, or himself, he matteroffactly agreed that our choices were the best, leaving no doubt that his reaction would have been the same bo matter what we chose. For appetizers, we ordered artichoke and escargot. Artichoke came in an attractive array of flowers and leaves, all of them inedible of course. The only edible part easily fit one table spoon and was more eggplant than artichoke. Escargot did have wonderful sauce, but actual meat was already pulled out of the shelf and saturated in sauce, good as it was, making me forget what I actually ordered' The piece de resistance was duck, usually a proved commodity in french places. Alas, I should have had more resistance to this dish. Ten thin slices of duck (was it duck?) were inexcusably drowned in molasses like thick sauce which criminally overwhelmed the dish to the point those slices could easily be tongue (and certainly had chewy and elastic property of the latter). The maitre d (maybe the owner?) looked and acted beautifully french, and that was the only french attribute there, My girlfriend and my wallet were in equal measure emptied and disappointed, fully justifying the cliche: we just had dinner in a french restaurant, where should we go for a bite?! read more

We hosted a baby shower at Froggy's, and it was a first-class event from start to finish! The staff, especially Rodrigo, were extremely accomodating and professional. The Froggy's chef prepared special dishes for our guests with dietary restrictions. The delicious French dishes are five star quality. We felt like we were in a Parisian bistro. Being a culinary graduate and having worked in kitchens before, the plating seems very messy and in-cohesive. The garnishes are sprawled out and carelessly placed. My partner and I both got pasta dishes and somehow I got more pasta on my plate than he did? The portions seem to not be controlled or fair considering the price. If we both get a pasta dish I expect it to be the same amount of pasta and plated well. Comparing the plating now to how it was when the place first opened, it seems to be going downhill/careless. read more

Ambiance - quite pleasant and host was friendly. Service, inattentive to be polite. No one greeted our table for at least 10-15 minutes to even ask for a drink. Things moved at a slow pace from then on and the only thing that arrived quickly was the bill. The food was average at best. The characteristic flavors of French food were nearly absent. Escargots sauce was bland and unimaginative. My sweetbreads were overcooked to the texture of chicken gizzards and the sauce was not complimentary. Other dishes at the table - charcuterie - was fine but again the pate Maison was rather flavorless and the crab cake special was just OK. The barramundi was nice but again, these folks seem to feel bland is better. Did I complain? Here's what you need to know: Froggy's is a landmark and i applaud their success and ability to stay strong through 4 decades of change and a pandemic, but ultimately it's now a dated restaurant. The owners and staff are very pleasant, but ultimately the food is lacking energy, allure, and excitement. If you're a foodie, you'll likely be a bit dissatisfied. If you're simply looking for a rich, comfort meal, then Froggy's can be a good place to visit. Ultimately, because I am the former kind of diner, I can only offer 3 stars. The positives: The best foods of the evening - to me - were the escargot in cream sauce with the puff pastry (they should leave out the limp and warm snap peas from this dish though) and the dark chocolate cake, which I would order again. The wine list is respectable, with some good Burgundian reds. On the needs improvement side - not to say it was bad: the other appetizers like the crab cake and the shrimp were just meh. Edible but instantly forgotten and lacked complexity or intensity. It was too mild in what I suspect was an attempt by the kitchen to be overly safe in its execution. The lamb was too gamey, and one of the 3 filet beef entrees was chewy. The basic salad was too "basic", and ultimately felt like a filler. The veal was tender and seasoned well, but although described as a Roquefort stuffed option, it had only a very creamy stroganoff like sauce to lend it any flavor - which was one note. The desperately needs improvement: The bread is way, way too tough of a crust and just needs an upgrade (which should be simple enough to do). So in summary, while it has a place in a local diner's rotation, I wonder why the chefs don't brighten up their menu as bit and allow for more fresh ingredients to shine through. And most importantly, the meats have got to be cooked right every time. I certainly wish the restaurant well and am hoping for their success, but I feel They need some changes to modernize their menu, just a bit. read more

The lone flatscreen TV is a complete, yet welcome for me, anachronism to this trapped in time, old school home run for more than delectable AND authentic French cuisine. I ordered a combination platter of chicken florentine and veal. No kidding - the veal with mushroom gravy was a religious experience. My plate was lost between the kitchen and my seat at the bar (it was a popular special entree), so the chef/owner came out to check on my experience. I consider myself privileged to have conversed with such a culinary master. I know Yelp encourages photos, but I felt like a picture would have cheapened the experience and could never fully represent the quality of the food. For desert - the mixed berry tart in folded, scratch pastry dough is a can't miss. This establishment with with the bowtied front of the house manager, it's vintage feel and winter night hygge charm, topped off with a full service, soul moving French meal is a must experience. Not just underwhelming, but downright disappointing. The décor was dated and dingy (I can't imagine that it was ever in style). The actual dishes the food was served on is a confused mixture of serving ware from the 80's. Serving ware should showcase the food, not detract from it. The bathroom was not clean, smelled bad, and looked like it hadn't been refreshed since the 80s. The food was not good. I ordered a gazpacho soup, which for $10, was seriously lacking. I normally love gazpacho, but this was no better than a cup of spicy bloody mary mix with a few slices of yellow pepper, scallions(?) and parsley. Very salty. I also ordered the Mediterranée Salad and added grilled salmon. The salad was ok, but the vinaigrette was outstanding. The mozzarella balls on the salad were hard, not soft. I did notice that everyone's cold dishes were garnished with sliced beetroot "swirls," reminding me of how restaurants used to garnish plates with parsley - feels like a lazy way to plate a meal. In fact, everything could have easily been sourced from Restaurant Depot. Feels like very little thought or effort went into the food. My friend's barramundi with some kind of cream sauce wasn't good. She only took a few bites. When the host (owner?) stopped by and noticed she had barely touched her meal he inquired. While he explained about the Barramundi, at no time did he suggest/offer an alternative. She left hungry. Sometimes restaurants get it right, sometimes they have an off night for various reasons. The waitstaff was good and mostly attentive, so I'll give them props for their staff. But the whole experience was off due to bad food and unpalatable décor. I will not return. read more

I have eaten at Froggy's many times over the years, including recently, and I love the restaurant. I disagree with many of the criticisms. The dishes are excellent and imaginative. Some of my favorites are lobster, veal, and salmon. The sauces are exquisite. The prices are less than those of most French restaurants. The atmosphere (as indicated by the informal name: Froggy's) is comfortable and not stuffy or overformal. No one seems to be mentioning the desserts, which are fabulous, especially the slices of cake and the tarts. read more

Maybe it's because I live in the city, but I can't say I was impressed by the food at Froggy's. Because I came with a group, I was able to try multiple items, but nothing really blew me away, which was disappointing considering the price point on the menu. Here are my thoughts on the individual menu items: 1. Mushroom truffle ravioli: this was probably the best thing I ate all night. It was exactly as described. 2. Goat cheese, prosciutto and tomato appetizer: while it didn't taste bad, there was nothing beyond the ingredients. It was presented nicely but bland overall. 3. Lamb chops: most disappointing of all. They were supposed to be prepared medium rare but they were actually medium well. Lamb is one of those finicky meats that if not cooked right, can be gamey. 4. Fries: they were decent, nothing special. I asked for truffle fries but they missed the truffle part. I did find it odd that to compensate, they brought out the oil? I don't think it was understood you can't dip your fries in truffle oil like it's a sauce. They have to be tossed in a light amount. 5. Bread pudding: also underwhelming and had a funny texture. Despite the underwhelming food, the servers were awesome. However, that probably wouldn't be enough to want to come back unless I came here with a group. read more

Perfect case of don't always trust the Yelp reviews. Had a great dinner last night here. Food was on point, service was excellent and I left extremely pleased and dumbfounded by what others have said on Yelp. We started with the escargot (my 7 year olds choice!) and a baked eggplant stuffed with crab. The escargot was rich and flavorful, not chewy or gummy. Really good. Appreciated the puff pastry to dip into the garlicky sauce. The eggplant was soft and unctuous with a generous portion of crab. Really tasty! For mains we ordered the shrimp and pasta, the salmon with roasted red pepper sauce and the seafood bouillabaisse (on special). Everything was cooked really well. The salmon was the standout, but I found the bouillabaisse and shrimp dish both delicious too. Generous amount of fish in all the dishes and we were certainly full. For dessert we brought in a cake from Deerfield Bakery to celebrate our birthdays. They not only sliced the cake, they plated each piece with a surprise raspberry coulee that took the raspberry chocolate cake over the edge. They didn't have to do that, but we were beyond impressed and it really elevated the cake even more. To celebrate our birthdays they even brought us all flutes of champagne and a flute of sprite for my kid. Such a nice and warm gesture. We will definitely be back. I honestly can't wait. And I'm so disappointed that it took me 7 years of living less than a mile from the restaurant to finally work up the nerve to try it. Very disappointing. Based on menu we were expecting an exemplary French meal. At best, overall, it was C+. Not worth the money. The escargot appetizer was lukewarm warm. I was warned to not touch plate but there was no threat. It was warm to the touch not hot. Same with the actual snails. Not cold, but not properly hot. My bouillabaisse special was some weird version of the dish. It was not a soup as there was hardly any broth, sauce, or liquid. It too was not properly heated. The mussels were minuscule. Maybe that's all the market offers this time of year, but why make a dish featuring an inferior ingredient? The lobster tail was small and needed to be extracted from its half shell without proper tools. Other dishes at our table were likewise meh. A pasta dish with sauce in a separate ramekin was dry and almost unpalatable. The three game meat entree was the lone good dish at the table. Saucy but tasty. Service was okay but nothing to write home about. Had to wait for extra bread, wine, etc... No reaction to my less than enthusiastic response to the lone query about the food. Ambience was fine in the bar area our reservation found us seated. Very eclectic style that felt French. I could not recommend nor is it likely I would eat here again.
