My husband and I chose to venture in the frontier diner for the first time today. The atmosphere was very welcoming. Several tables were clean and ready for us to pick from. Our server Leah was attentive, friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. We saw several things we would be coming back to try for both breakfast and lunch. This is an old fashion family style breakfast diner. Great service old-school vibe and lots of regulars frequent this place. I notice that the servers knew many of the diners my name. I was greeted and treated with southern love by a pleasant lady, Michelle. She made sure that a sip wasn't missing in my coffee cup. She suggested the Sunrise. I got that and was pretty good. I've never had bacon like that. It was so good with a smoky flavor. Wish I would've taken a picture but soon as I saw my food I went to town!! Thank you all for the Southern hospitality. The breakfast was delicious. I got the French toast meal which comes weigh eggs, hash browns and sausage or bacon. The food was good and the service was good. My only concern is that I was the only African American person there. I am unsure if other black people frequent the restaurant. Review My two best friends came down from New York for my wedding and I wanted to show them good southern food. After a quick look at yelp for places open for breakfast and brunch, I chose this one. What a terrible decision. We arrived at 11:06. The first thing they said as we stepped in was that breakfast was no longer served. That ended at 11. Okay. Big disappointment. No attempt to cook breakfast anyway. Oh well. It went downhill from there. I got what I think was supposed to be a grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken was so thin, so flavorless, and so chewy that I had to rearrange my sandwich several times to even get a small bite of chicken in each bite. The fries are bagged and frozen. When I asked if I could substitute for macaroni and cheese without prompting she said "it's Stoaffers and not any good." Honesty. That's sweet, but for the love of God! No one was impressed by their meal. Coffee was bland and normal; I've had better at Waffle House. When we got our checks it said "cash" and indicated it was already paid. We almost left, assuming someone saw me who knew me, knew I had been married the day before, and paid. False. "It's just how our system works. It's dumb," the waitress told us 20 minutes later. The only other visitors I saw were men with a median age of around 62 who became deathly quiet and stared daggers at my group of docile friends after I laughed a little. Me, my Latina wife, and my Korean and Puerto Rican friends stood out like sore thumbs. Speaking of sore thumbs, please, for the love of God, look at the pictures of their bathroom. I ordered, for takeout, the hamburger steak with grilled onions and peppers, mashed potatoes and turnip greens. They were out of rolls and cornbread again. They cooked a chicken fried steak so had to cook a hamburger steak when I got there since they got the order wrong. The waitress that took the order was very apologetic. I only get 30 min. for lunch so I was pushed for time to eat. The steak had good flavor but the onions were raw and crunchy and there were no peppers with the onions let alone being grilled. The turnip greens and mashed potatoes were cold when I drove a couple blocks to work. Normally, they are still very warm when I get to work to eat. This was a bad experience so I called the restaurant and again all I got was I'm sorry. I heard that phrase way too many times in one visit. The manager did not offer to make it right - just I'm sorry - yeah this was a sorry visit. read more

This is definitely not a fancy diner...but the food is well made, the coffee is great (and refilled often) and service is friendly enough. It's more of a local place than a tourist spot, but you seat yourself and a waitress appeared damn near immediately. Mine was friendly enough, though I did get some stares from the old guys who seemed to be regulars - being an unaccompanied girl is apparently an oddity here. My whole breakfast (with generous portions) came in around $12 and paying up front was effortless. If I came through town in the future I'd gladly stop in again. read more

Stayed a a major hotel near the airport that didn't serve breakfast. I went on Yelp hoping to find a place that was close to freeway on our way to Dallas. WOW, this place is awesome. The food is so great and it is "true Little Rock". The customers that were there when we were there all knew each other and were all "locals". It was kind of like Cheers Bar, the waitresses and everyone there was so friendly. I just wish that I could have tried some other items on the menu. It is NOT fancy and from the outside, I wondered what we were in for. But it lived up to its high rating here. A great place, highly recommended!! read more

The food was pretty solid and they have several dry erase boards posted around the restaurant with the daily offerings. Items listed on these boards are of limited availability and things can run out, but it is encouraging that the food is fresh and they aren't wasteful in food preparation. This restaurant boils down to good home cooking, and the food is relatively cheap. The restaurant got very busy at lunch time (noon-ish), I am assuming it is a popular lunch spot for the locals. Service was good, and the restroom was clean. The food was good, but not outstanding. The restaurant itself was a bit dated, but it perfectly fit my expectations of a diner. I am happy I stopped here; I would much rather eat at a local establishment than give money to a big chain restaurant. Also, it is located conveniently off of I-30 westbound, so getting on and off of the interstate was a breeze. read more

What a gem. Traveling from NE Ohio to Houston we had been on the road for hours and came across this diner. At 8:30am they made us the best cheeseburgers! Service was great. When I'm on road trips I like to eat at the local eateries, I googled breakfast and frontier diner was down the road from where I was staying. When you first approach the building its not really inviting. But no worries because as soon as you open the door and step in everyone is so friendly. I ate there 3 times during my trip, kids had a cheeseburger which they loved, I ate there chicken fried streak which was also very good. This is the quintessential small town diner! We stopped in for breakfast because we wanted something more than the big chain restaurants offer, so glad we did. Our group all got something different, and needless to say there was little conversation once the food arrived. Everything we ordered was great, even the coffee! The food is a little greasy, have had much worse, but nothing a few napkins can't fix. As already mentioned in other reviews, don't be turned away by the exterior appearance. Delicious little breakfast joint. They also serve lunch. The menu made us want to come back for lunch. It had a homey feeling and I love that. We were greeted at the door and was told to sit anywhere. I had western omelette and it was delicious. I wasn't a fan of the grits. Need salt and butter for me. The sausage was yummy. Had a very nice breakfast this morning with a group of 10 people. They put us in the back room all by ourselves which worked out great. Service could have been a little better but this was a solid 4* breakfast experience. We noticed they bake their own cornbread and dinner rolls. I stopped in with my wife, daughter and two grandchildren yesterday for lunch. I am the type that yelps for places on road trips rather than doing "chain restaurants" because I support proprietary small business. This restaurant is small town wonderful. Food was good, nothing special, but just simple cooking for a trip. The Arkansas patrons not so much. We had driven from San Antonio, Dallas, Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville, and to Louisville KY for my brothers funeral and were on our way back. Needless to say we were tired. My oldest granddaughter (3 - youngest 1 1/2) through a fit (tired, long days, etc.) and when she would not behave my daughter took her to the car. We boxed things up, paid and left. Staff was helpful in our leave, but had to hang out when I came back asking if we could have cutlery to finish our meal on the drive. The looks of judgement in this small town middle class establishment befuddles me still. Comments from the locals "She seems like a lot of fun" etc. were hurtful. I had been told that Arkansas meant you can come see an arsenal of asses, but thought that was a joke. You never know the journey others are on. You do you Arkansas, but I'll be more cautious next time. read more
