Nearly 20 years ago, I was one of Verizon's first FiOS installs in SoCal. As a lifelong tech geek, I loved every minute of it -- the network was rock solid and the speeds were insanely great. To top it off, the price was very reasonable, especially considering the speeds and Verizon's up-front installation cost. I was very skeptical when Frontier took over Verizon's SoCal FiOS network. But to my delight, the network has continued to remain top-notch (knock on wood). Speeds are always as promised and my round-trip pings to the backbone in downtown LA are consistently ~2ms. That is strong evidence of a clean, well-managed network. My only complaints are mild: the semi-annual price increases are annoying, but I have always been able to solve them with a quick phone call. The chatbot on their website is terrible. And, perhaps a bit more significantly, I am disappointed that they have been kicking the IPv6 can down the road for years. Finally, on the extremely rare times I've needed a tech visit (just once or twice for ONT upgrades) or a support call (once that I recall due to a very weird issue with my - not their - router), I've found them to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. read more

No stars are warranted for so called service to Redondo Beach. CA. Worst ISP, worst customer service and worst tech support ever!!! Gross incompetence at every encounter and at every level. *Set up with new internet service today, and 30 minutes after the tech left, it went down. Next, we spent 4 1/2 hours on the phone, bounced around from person to person and no one could help us. The last call was disconnected. And the person did not have the brains or decency to call us back. Their chat feature is worthless. 4 chats and no help. I suspect there are several FCC violations here. We finally got through to someone and were told someone could come 3 days from now, outrageous! Poorly staffed, supervisor won't come on the line, no one takes responsibility for their shoddy work. We took the today off of work today for this internet set up; and now they cannot come back to fix their poor quality work and mistakes. Buyer beware. Stay away from Frontier. They don't deserve your business and certainly don't deserve mine! read more

Worst customer service of any company. I sold my house and moved out on March 21st, 2025. Put a cancellation order in and the new owner got an new Frontier account. Now Frontier is sending me to collections when my account was canceled moths ago. I think I should sue them. read more

I had frontier Internet, but I moved to an area that it wasn't available. The day I moved I tried to cancel the service and they would not allow me to because I didn't have a PIN (they never provided me with one and had no problem accepting my payments without one). So they continue to charge me for a whole month after I didn't even live there. When I contacted them again, I was told that those charges would be waived. Instead, it was sent to collections! So now I'm stuck with the bill for service when I wasn't there AND my credit was affected. Just HORRIBLE. read more

I have had to set up two appointments to try and get service and am working on a third, after the second was unexpectedly canceled with no notice to me. ALL customer service including sales are based in the Philippines. Absolutely no ability to speak to America. Mom's home analog service continues to have problems being called. Service deleted and rebuilt the software associated with the line, when the whole time it was a network issue with other networks (AT&T, Verizon, etc.) being unable to call the Frontier network. If you have cable internet go with Ooma or your cable provider if you really need an analog line. Horrible. read more

Five months since I have switched from Comcast to Frontier internet provider and it seems like enough time passed to write a measured review. Good things first. I have subscribed for a 2Gbit plan and Frontier delivers! Connection is as fast as they promise at all times and the dramatic increase in an upload speed (from 40Mbit to 2Gbit in comparison with Comcast) is extremely important to me for my work. Another important benefit that Frontier has no caps unlike Comcast which caps your monthly traffic to 1.2TB. This together with great upload speed finally makes it possible for me to backup the data to the cloud. Finally I feel that my data is completely safe and won't be lost even in worst scenarios. So in terms of speed and quality of service Frontier does deliver what it promises! Frontier has some problems as well. The most important one is the service reliability. I used to be a Comcast customer and not by choice. I did not like the company and their policies, but I can only say good things about their reliability. While being their customer for many years I recall only three farily short service outages. With Frontier I had already four in 5 moths. One of them fairly lengthy (entire day). I hope it is just a coincidence and I am not going to have an outage every month on average. Second thing is the knowledge of their sales/customer service. For instance, before ordering the service I was curious if they support IPv6 (desirable for the work I do), and at first I was getting a surprised "IP what?" from sales rep and then after a period of consultation away from the phone was given a wrong answer anyway. They are networking company and their sales reps definitely should know what they are selling! The third is the service enrollment. The process is not well designed and their work with third party vendors leaves a lot to be desired. Here is my story. I have ordered the service over Internet and scheduled a visit of an installer on a particular date. The installers are a third party vendor to Frontier. The installer came over and discovered that the fiber cable does not go all the way to my house, but stops a few houses before. We live on the side of a hill and the cable is not easy to pull without a bucket truck. He did not have enough cable with him, so he was not able to do the job anyway. He promised to bring the truck in a day or two, left his number to call about the status and left. I tried to call and test him periodically a few days, but got no response and his answering machine was full anyway. Then I tried to solve this through the Frontier and was surprised that you must be an existing customer just to talk to them! If you do not give your account number to the automated answering system, it won't get you through to the customer service and you won't get an account number until you already have your service installed. You have to fail a lot of questions when the system tries to identify your account and then finally it gives up and connects you to a human being. In the course of a few days I had to do that a lot. Customer service acknowledged this problem and said that pending installations are in a sort of limbo in their system. Then there were three times I tried to reschedule the visit on a specific range of dates over the phone, but every time after I hung up and check their ticket system online in a few hours, it turned out the date was wrong. I could not schedule the visit online because of this bucket truck requirement I mentioned above. In these calls I was getting confident, but contradictory information about how this would work. In the last call they confidently said that the vendor would come out in advance and pull the cable to my house and then another installer without a truck will come out on the scheduled day and path my house to it. Of course, this was not what actually happened. On the scheduled date another installer without a bucket truck showed up and noted that the cable was never pulled to my house. Fortunately the guy was great and had enough cable with him. He managed to do all the work just using a ladder and got my house connected. I hope Frontier improves their enrollment procedure, trains their staff better and establishes more tight relationships with their vendors. It seems like do have to do some work on reliability improvements as well. Nevertheless, for me the benefits of the Frontier service outweigh all the problems described above and I would recommend it to those who use the internet for more than browsing and email. Since enrollment is a one-time affair, I did not drop a point in my overall rating of the service, but I did drop one for the reliability. read more

I thought Monopolies were against the law. In parts of Elk Grove, CA you are forced to have Frontier. If you live on a certain side of Big Horn Blvd you can have AT&T otherwise you are stuck with Frontier. Believe me they are the worse as far as phone service. I have been trying to get back money from them since June of 2024. I was told yesterday I have to wait THREE BILLING CYCLES. I am not longer a customer, so why do I have to wait 3 billing cycles to receive my credit. of $26.16 There rules are absolutely ridiculous read more

This might be one of the most evil companies I have ever worked with. I ordered the 5 gig service which supposedly came with a tp-link archer axe300 6e router. They instead installed a modem that could only handle 2 gig speeds. I called and they said they would send out a new modem. A few days later I received a sagecom model that also could only handle 2 gig speeds. I called again and they said the tp-link modem wasn't compatible with the system. At this point I cancelled my account because they couldn't actually provide 5 gig speed. Over $200 and an hour on the phone later, I thought I was finally done with this company. I sent back both modems. Two months later they charged me $150 for unreturned equipment. Luckily I had documentation of the return of both modems but it took another 30 minutes on the phone to get this settled. This was one of the worst company experiences I've ever had. read more
