Filet and a Lobster Tail with a side Caesar and a loaded baked potato. I also opted for a chocolate mousse pie for dessert. It was tender, tasty, and cooked to my liking. Exceptional service was provided by my server Tanya. I ordered a cheeseburger to go and I loved the way they packed it so nothing got soggy. It also was very good. Had a fantastic meal at Frontier Steakhouse! I ordered the cowgirl with baked potato and salad. My husband ordered the ribeye with a potato and a Caesar salad. We dined here last night and things were just so-so. Just seemed like there was no attention to detail and it wasn't busy at all. They charged us for a bone-in ribeye but brought out the less expensive version. That was offputting and cost us $10+ extra. . The rolls were hard and cold. One of the wines we ordered, specifically because it was listed on the menu as a California wine, turned out to be French. You want to go to a restaurant and enjoy a meal, not complain about every single thing, and this experience left us in the latter category, sadly. Lastly, a couple of guys seated next to us were loud, drunk and gross and management ignored them. They cursed and belched loudly throughout their meal as the employees turned a blind eye. I haven't been back to Frontier Steakhouse in quite sometime. I came here on a Friday night at about 6:30, was seated immediately, and offered a menu and a beverage. My order consisted of: An 8oz filet, medium A water A salad with oil and vinegar A loaded baked potato. A glass of Malbec. My server was super attentive -- she brought out my salad and roll right away. The roll was not fresh, but the salad was very fresh. About 3 minutes later my steak came out with my potato. The steak was COLD and the fat had started to congeal. When my server brought me my glass of wine, I told her about my terrible steak, and she apologized and sent it back. The flavors were there, but how can you serve a COLD STEAK and charge $31.00? At my server's suggestion, I kept my potato and it was nice and hot, and I ate that and drank my wine while waiting for my steak. The second steak was excellent -- Juicy, flavorful, correct temp, and hot! They nailed it! I have been wanting to visit this steakhouse for a long time and one of my friends chose this place as the spot for her birthday gathering. We got there early (between 4-5pm) and there wasn't a soul around. We were the only people there so we were seated easily. The waitress didn't seem in the best of moods and the drink menu didn't cover most of the options they had available (there's a full bar but no menu for liquor selections). Wine prices are great which is a reason I'd come back for sure! Food prices are also very reasonable, but the steaks were really mediocre at best. I ordered medium rare and it was more medium well. You get a baked potato and salad with your steak so it's a good deal overall. Prices are low so if you're looking for an affordable night out, this is a good option. Family friendly for sure! Wow. I am absolutely shocked on how repulsive this place is. This is a very honest review, for a family owned steak house. My father chose to eat here for Father's Day and I was optimistic but this place needs some serious help. Let's start off with the food, the steaks were very cold not overcooked but cold when handed to all of us ( party of 7 ) and there was absolutely NO flavor. To also add that the inside of the restaurant looked like a ran down cafeteria. The employees all looked like they were running around with their heads cut off. I didn't even see one manager going around asking people how their meal was. Where is the HOSPITALITY of a general steak house!!!???!!! I also ordered a lobster tail to go with my steak, which was completely UNDERCOOKED!!! The lobster tail wasn't even cooked partially. Not even an apology was given, I told the server and she just took it back. Didn't even have the kitchen prepare me a new lobster tail. All they did was cook it a bit longer and give it to me on a new plate. COMPLETELY against food safety regulations and they ended up overcooking it. I told the server and she just said still don't like it? Didn't even offer to comp the lobster tail until I had to actually say that you're comping this. This place is holding on to whatever effort that they have left and they just have loyal customers saying their food is delicious! Love Frontier! We decided to have my husbands 50th birthday dinner there (it is one of his favorites) with 25 or so of our closest friends. The staff was fantastic! Food was quick and delicious. Everyobe really knocked it our of the park. One the plus plus side some of our friends had never been and said as they were leaving the party that they would definitely be back. The wait staff kept drinks full & flowing and were so friendly. The food was delivered to the table in a very timey manner for such a latge gang of us. There are bad restaurant experiences and then there is Frontier Steakhouse. It reaches a level of terrible that becomes almost great. It's "Attack of the Tomato's" bad. It's William Hung singing bad. We are talking the NY Jets of restaurants. The waitress started by asking us for our order before we she handed us the menus. It only went downhill from there. The food was laughably bad. Cheese sticks with ice cold marinara, the saddest salad I've ever seen and a steak that was a grisly piece of meat that I'm desperately telling myself came from a cow. God, I hope I'm right. The taste was so weird - 50 years of eating steak at places good and bad and I've never had anything taste quite like it - and not in a good way. Seriously, if you are considering eating here, come up with a different plan. Any plan. Deciding to start a fast is a better solution. Wendy's is a better plan. On the positive side, we have a story that will last for a long time. In 10 years, we will still be saying "Remember the Frontier Steakhouse?" and laughing about it. We came by to celebrate a birthday. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated we could tell they were understaffed. We waited a bit to order drinks and cheese dip appetizer ($7.95) When the cheese dip came it was about half basket of chips and had to pay $2.50 for a refill of which we did not. We ordered Rancha Ka Bob ($18.95), Shrimp Dinner of 8 shrimp up charge 2$ for shrimp scampi and $1.75 for Caesar salad ($19.70), 8 oz. Sirloin with up charge of $2.60 for loaded bake potato ($20.95), Ribeye with up charge $1 for sweet potato ($32.95), Salmon with bake potato butter sour cream ($19.95). We waited about 25 minutes for our dinners. It was very loud and our drinks were not refilled. The steaks were good but the shrimp and salmon were very salty. We also had two pieces of key lime pie (5$ each) which for the price were very small. Unfortunately we had been here years ago and were very let down by our experience this time. So I got to town about 7 and check Yelp for some grub and it sent me to several places with good reviews but they were places with no parking and you had to walk to them. I rolled in there about 8 and I was literally the only person here, the only car in the lot but the open sign was on and the sign said it didn't close until 10 so I cowboy'd up and went in. Yes I was the only non worker in the place. Anyway the waitress was delightful and got me a seat and menu and my drink order and such and quickly returned with my drink and took my order. I ordered the bone in rib eye medium with a salad and veggies. The music was stellar and on point imo, real country. She reappeared with my salad and it was a salad. Then in fairly short order she brought my steak and I'm here to tell you it was on point. It was as good as any $50 steak I've ever eaten and wasn't nearly that expensive. Very good. Veggies were on point as well. I left about 50 minutes later and the only human I saw the entire time was my waitress. I will start this out with we had a party of 20 on a Saturday for my brother's 40th birthday... you need 25 for the 'bigger hall'. I will say my group was a bit annoying we had 8 screaming kids that just wanted to play and made the place into a bit of a jungle gym.. =( One of my biggest pet peeves is kids that don't sit down and listen.. but it is what it is. I know this GREATLY annoyed the waitresses that were working on our group and thus making them not really pay attention to us as much or bother to check up on us. So this review will be a mixed emotion - I see both sides. I've worked in the restaurant and had big tables so I tried to mediate as much as I could. On to the food. Prices are reasonable for the steak cuts and you get a a bang for your buck. We ordered the porterhouse Medium Rare...but it seem to have come out RARE... after the waitresses dropped all the food off (our steak being the last) they were never to be seen again until about 30 minutes later giving us to go containers as if to say 'OK you can LEAVE NOW' --NO WE did NOT say we were done eating... so in essence we were not able to tell them that it was rare because 1 they never came back to ask and 2 they were pushing us out...and thus making me a hangry customer. Why 3 stars? Because there is no half star option to accurately give a 3 and a half. --- --- --- This was definitely a "good" 3-star restaurant. I can always appreciate a good steakhouse, especially an old-fashioned one like Frontier. The interior was very unique and made you feel like you were out in the old west. I'm from Texas, and I would imagine that Frontier is exactly the type of place people inaccurately imagine the entire state of Texas is like. Midland? Maybe. Houston, not so much. I found it pretty amazing that I had never even heard of Frontier, until I got a tip from a friend of a friend. It is truly the definition of a "hidden gem." Now...you may be asking yourself (because I know my reviews set your inner-dialogue in motion) "Is it really a gem if you only gave them 3-stars?" I think it has "gem" potential. Again, my review is more of a 3.5 star, with plenty of room to go up in the future. I enjoyed my steak very much, I just wasn't overwhelmed with joy while eating it. This review isn't about the food but about them as a business and a neighbor. I live on the street adjacent to their restaurant. Someone dumped a couch in their parking lot and they decided the best thing to do was to do their own illegal dumping and move it to our street(in the bushes against the barbwire fence). And on top of that they claimed that the county told them to put in there for pick up(why throw it in the bushes then?) This was our first time going to Frontier Steakhouse! It definitely was a one and done! I had a reservation for 6:30, they open at 4:00, I arrived right at 6:00 and there wasn't a soul to be found inside besides the lady behind the front counter (with a very heavy and nasty cough) and one waitress. I was waiting on the rest of my party to get there, but they sat me right away. I ordered the Big Bang Shrimp appetizer while waiting, and I have to say that when it came out it looked horrible. But I decided to try it anyway. I tried to pick one up with my fork, but the fork was having a hard time penetrating the breading on the shrimp as it was very hard. The temp of it could have been a lot warmer, but I ate as much of it as I could. When I brought this to her attention, she just stood there and looked at me like I was stupid! I ordered a sweet tea, and I am from the south, so I like my sweet tea to be pretty sweet. But this one was over the top sweet. I just diluted it with some of my daughter's water. When we ordered our entrees, the waitress was rushing us like there were a million people in there when in reality there were only 3 tables seated. She acted as if she didn't want to be there the entire time! Kind of like she had the personality of a gnat! My daughter had a hair on the edge of her steak, and my friend had a hair on the tail of one of her shrimps. When we told the waitress, she just looked at them with disgust (like she wondered why they were even saying anything about it) and turned and walked away without even saying anything! She never mentioned anything about it again! The steak.......I had the Cowgirl, and it was almost paper thin! That steak costs $32.95, so I would expect a much larger steak for that price! My baked potato wasn't even cooked all the way, very hard and really not even very hot either! It wouldn't even melt my butter all the way when I put it on. The salad was ok. The tomatoes on it looked as if they had been sitting around for a while! Overall, a horrible experience! SERVICE: No stars at all! She should find a different line of work! A friend told me the steaks here are cooked similar with citrus oak wood. So I decided to check It out. The menu has something for everyone. (Chicken, steak, pork chops, lobster) First I will say that the prices are extremely reasonable. I got a decent bottle of red wine for 17 bucks when most places would up-charge that to at least 20. The steaks range from 5 cents to 3 dollars less than Texas Cattle. You get a lot for your money here. The steak dinners come with salad and bread and your choice of sweet potato, baked potato, vegetable medley or these amazing potato wedges (buck skins.) The appetizer sampler was good. The jalapeño poppers were my favorite. Very well done, not frozen (or if they were you couldn't tell) the only thing that could have been better were the mozzarella sticks. The salad was very basic- nothing to write home about. As for the steak, It was cooked perfectly. I asked for medium and got exactly that. Perfectly pink center and juicy. The only thing I would say is that the flavor of the citrus wood could have been a bit stronger. But I ate the whole T-bone. So It was definitely good! I just prefer the other place. The atmosphere is very casual. The place is large too so It can accommodate groups. The server was amazing and friendly and offered advice on sides. She even brought out cinnamon and sugar for my sweet potato (which made It even better!) I will definitely be back here.
