We had such an incredible experience during our first visit to Frontier. I'm so grateful to our neighbors for the recommendation. First of all, it's so easy to make an appointment. I initially called the hospital but there was no answer. And shortly after I hung up I received a text message stating that I could text to schedule an appointment and I'd get a response within 72 hours. So I replied to the text message and was able to get an appointment confirmed later that evening. The hospital's hours and doctor availability works well for my schedule and the location is conveniently close to my home/work. When we arrived for our Friday evening appointment we were greeted by the nicest staff member and directed to sit in the waiting area which is fully stocked with snacks and beverages for both humans and pets. After a few minutes we got set up in the exam room and met the technician and the vet who were both personable and kind and our dog loved them, along with everyone else in the office. We had a really good first appointment for our new puppy. The staff seemed knowledgeable, addressed all of our concerns and let us know what to expect. I had an 8:00 AM appointment as a new client for my cat, scheduled two days in advance with Dr. Stack. While driving to the clinic, I received a voicemail shortly before the appointment time stating that Dr. Stack would not be coming in and that the appointment needed to be rescheduled. By that point, I had already driven approximately 20 minutes to the clinic. Upon arrival, I informed the front desk that I was a first-time client and had just received the voicemail. I was told they could not see my pet and that the only option was to return at 2:00 PM the same day. No alternative scheduling options or accommodations were offered at that time. I understand that unexpected situations can occur. However, for clients with limited availability, being notified at the last minute and asked to return several hours later may not be feasible. As a caregiver for a family member with dementia, my schedule requires careful planning. I decided to cancel the appointment and will not be returning. I am sharing this experience so others are aware that last-minute cancellations may occur and that same-day accommodations may be limited. read more

Absolutely we recommend Frontier Veterinary Hospital! On March 6th my son & I had to make an extremely quick decision as our dear, sweet, deeply-loved Westie was having a major seizure. We were driving by & just decided to turn in. I ran in in a bit of a panic & said tearfully that our dog was seizing. Two folks dashed to the car & another one very kindly lead me through the immediate paperwork needed to authorize treatment. Sadly this was our pet's final day with us. However, from the moment we walked into the hospital to the moment we left, we were ever so patiently & professionally guided through this final stage of loving an animal who taught us so much about unconditional love & simple joy in life. Albeit we had never been a client before the vet took the time about 10 days later to personally call to express her condolences & inquire whether we needed any support. They are very nice but completely unorganized. While I appreciate being able to reach out via email/text, the care and coordination is subpar at best. Just trying to get records or prescriptions is cumbersome. I've had to reach out multiple times for the same issue because they'd keep sending out the wrong information, it's just become too much of a pain. The fact they will not send prescriptions electronically to pharmacies anymore, is the final nail in the coffin. I'm tired of having to go through the physical prescription process, especially when they give you the wrong scripts and you keep having to reach out and go back. It's a painful enough process but when they're frequently getting it wrong, it's no longer feasible to do business here. They should never have changed this policy, all it does is hurt the pets they claim to love so much. read more

I recommend you do not go here if you're having any sort of emergency or time sensitive issue with your pet. They may be fine with normal checkup, I have no idea. I went there when my dog had an issue that needed immediate diagnosis and treatment, and they came up as an urgent vet clinic. I got a same day appointment, paid over $1,000 for an "urgent" appointment and "urgent" test readings where they would send out the tests instead of waiting for them to be read in-house. Turns out we have very different definitions of urgent. I came in the next day with updates and a sample, still nothing. All day, no results. By 10pm the night after my dog seemed to really be in distress. I took him to Tanasbourne Veterinary Emergency, the nearby 24 hour place. I had to pay for all the exact same tests again, because we still hadn't heard from Frontier. Luckily they don't charge as much, and actually look at them right away. They diagnosed, operated on, and saved my dog, all before I finally got a call from Frontier the next day at noon, now 40 hours after that "urgent" appointment, saying my dog, who almost died the night before from fluid around his heart and lungs, was fine. Great news Frontier, thanks so much. It was and is a crazy time with my dog being on the precipice multiple times since, heart tumors, bladder surgery, but he's survived, thanks to the many vets and specialists who have seen him since, all despite Frontier fumbling the ball so badly that first day. I contacted them about a refund almost a year after, I don't enjoy how sad and angry I get thinking about how I almost lost my little guy. They didn't think the 40 hour wait for results, or questionable results were the problem, just the desk workers not passing on the update about his worsening condition. But they agreed to a less than half refund if I gave them all my bank info. I waited almost a year to get back to them, again, they wanted all my bank details for the refund instead of putting it on the card I used or just cutting a check. So that delay and distrust is on me, unlike them I can take responsibility when I mess up, but then they denied it because of an unstated deadline they decided after the fact. Also, Jessie D the "Client Services Team Lead" seems horrible at client services. I cannot believe the unprofessionalism of being strung along by nice receptionists just doing their job promising me a call back for more than a month, and then she finally emails instead of calls, I respond same day and she spends another two weeks and multiple prompts before responding to my email again. She seems allergic to the phone and returning calls. It's insane to me when your job is customer service to not even acknowledge receipt or respond in any way for that long even if you need to discuss details with your bosses. I may have waited a long time, but I'm not the professional in this situation, I'm the distressed pet owner. It's crazy that they think urgency and timeliness matters FROM their customers dealing with them but not them dealing with their customers- pets and humans alike. At least my delay only cost me that less-than-we-deserved refund of about $400, their delay very nearly cost my dog his life. So again, they might be fine with annual checkups or that sort, but my experience is they are horrible in an actual emergency or urgent situation, and somehow just as bad with the customer service after: go anywhere else. This place is only out to make money. The only vet clinic I've ever heard of that makes you pay an exam fee for every single booster vaccine on a new kitten or puppy. So every 3-4 weeks for booster shots until the kitten is 16 weeks old you have to pay an exam fee of $96. Horrible! read more

Decided to leave the vet factory that is B******d. Brought our boy in for allergies. Turned out it was his food. Skin spray & oral medicine (cytopoint didn't work for him). Amazing care & concern. And these treatments worked! My boy just loves Dr Beedle! A few months later we brought our girl in for an abnormal growth on her abdomen. Dr Rejba was companionate for my concern of cancer. A sample was sent out for testing. If you're concerned about pricing over treatment when it comes to taking care of your sick pet, then you don't deserve a pet! Any kind of healthcare & treatment cost! And it may be $30 more than the factory down the street, but to find staff as caring and attentive as this veterinary office, it's worth every penny! Honestly, it's taken me almost a year to write this review but I feel like they deserve it. I started bringing my pets to Frontier back in 2018. My main reason for choosing this clinic was that my cat had severe car anxiety and we lived right across the street. This clinic is on the pricier side but I feel it's worth it. The care has been consistently good, they have night/weekend hours, they were open during the pandemic and they helped me manage my panic prone feline. That alone is worth a good review however, there is more. In October of 2022, my 13 year old cat became very sick with diabetes. He was diagnosed in a wellness visit and within three weeks he became so ill we had to put him down. Dr K. worked with us nearly daily, trying to stabilize him and offering us options for his care. She was compassionate and thoughtful, something that frequently is lacking in healthcare for both pets and humans. I will never forget her kindness or her efforts. read more

The doctor said that we should run some tests and blood samples but that was the extent of it. They said he was totally fine and that it was normal. It's been awhile since I've posted a review...BUT, I wanted to give Frontier Pet hospital a moment of my time...as they SO deserve it. Long story short - we have a small zoo at our home, due to us being animals lovers that can't get enough of all that love in little packages. We have our tiny sweet hamster "Avril Lavigne", a teddy bear hamster, with her silky soft fluffy cream and brown coat, her love of green bell pepper and rolling happily around in her neon green ball were her favorite activities. We saved her from Petco about 2 years ago (yes I know...all please try to not support the franchise pet industry...that's a whole nother sad story...) and she was immediately a little part of our life that true it is innocent and happy, she was just a light that sprinkled our tiring days. Well, she was getting older, as we think she was already about a year when we got her, so she was about 3 yrs old now, (hamsters lives are only about 2-4 yrs). She started to act strange and slower, not enjoying her treats or when in her ball...not traveling so fast. We kept an eye on her, held her softly, but right when we thought she was getting more alert and better, she started bleeding. A lot. We still didn't know where it came from, as it was all over her bedding and on her body, matting up her little locks. Vet time. Stat. (Her alertness was probably from pain). In comes this pet hospital. We called to get a appointment, and they made one available (on a Saturday!) immediately to see the vet that was most knowledgeable with small animals. Real quick let me just say that most vet's don't see small animals, only "exotic" pet vets usually do, and when we spoke to the lovely receptionist here, she told me first and foremost that though they do not treat small animals in surgical needs, they can check to see if her symptoms are severe enough to go to the exotic specialist (mind you who are 3 times more expensive and none were open on the weekend), or if they could treat with say meds for a infection or if worst came to worst...put her down gently. We could feel their empathy through the phone, I wanted Avril to have the best care and this place felt right. Reception put me on hold a couple times to ask questions to the vet and to make sure they could provide care. As sadly..,.I guess small animals such as hamsters don't get as much attention from a lot vets. I get it...but I don't, Avril was as important to us as our cats and dogs. No joke. We brought her in, the building is directly across from Costco. Easy access. And I LOVE how in the waiting area they have closed off sitting half-rooms do that you are separated from other animals so as to let your dog walk on the floor and it won't get out. Very private. The girls inside were so understanding. Avril, had her entourage with her...myself, hubby, daughter and daughters BFF. We were all emotional. And they briskly brought us to a comfy little room, but big enough for all of us, with enough chairs too. The vet came in, was so understanding and listened to us patiently. Her and my daughter took her out of her box and after a thorough but quick exam...she knew that there wasn't much they were able to do. She was losing too much blood, it was worse then earlier. We decided it was time to ease her pain, and let her go. :( The vet technician came in and gently asked us how we would like to proceed with the process and the after choices regarding it. She then asked us if we wanted to walk with Avril to the other room to be there with her either during or after etc. It was just all so thorough with one thing in their mind...to empathize with us and to give us the most comforting experience possible in such a sad time. We left in tears of course, but knowing we made the right decision for little Avs. She wasn't well. About a week passed, and in the mail they sent us her sweet memory certificate with her name and her little hand prints on it too. Love love love. We got it framed, and keep on our mantel. We also got a letter regarding a tree being planted for the animals lost. The thought of the time that they took in every step of the way in the life of little Avril and also in our sadness, was extraordinary and we could tell they treated every animal big or small with the same love and respect. We are now in the process of changing vets for all our animals here. This place is now owned by a private equity group called Mission Valley Partners which owns over 330 locations across the US. When you look into job opportunities under Hillsboro, OR it will point you right to Frontier Vet. The level of care has gone downhill from when we took our first dog here. Yes, it was on the pricier side but we always saw the same vet unless there was some emergency. The service from start to finish was excellent. Now fast forward to our current pup, the service has been lack luster. All the vets that used to be there are gone, including the original owner which makes sense given the ownership. Diagnostics and tableside manner don't hold a flame to what it was like before. Having to go back to resolve an ear infection 3 times to the tune of over $1k is crazy. After consulting with a vet friend who lives in Portland he laughed at it taking 3 visits which could have been easily diagnosed in a single visit. This place is no longer your locally owned vet clinic like they want you to believe looking at the website. Luckily we have found our next vet and are done with this place. read more

My experience with Frontier Veterinary Hospital yesterday was as good as it gets! Customer service was stellar and all personnel involved including the veterinarian, office staff and techs were professional and empathetic. My senior cat needed to be seen urgently and the initial contact person, Kali was able to work her in within the hour even though she was a new patient! Kali also explained office procedures and informed me about the forms to complete online. Curbside service at the clinic insures social distancing and left me with peace of mind regarding COVID exposure. After our arrival we only waited 5 minutes before I was instructed via text to deliver my cat just inside the clinic door. Dr. Tolson called me after her exam about 20 minutes later with her diagnosis and treatment plan. After my cat received some fluids to hydrate her we were on our way with instructions for an over the counter generic medication and recommendations for lab work at a later date. I'm very grateful for the kind, thorough and timely care that my girl received. read more

I have been going to frontier for the last ten years. It is my preferred place to board my dog. They seem excited when she visits and give me doggy report cards. The clinic is very clean and the 2 doctors my dog has seen over the years were friendly and able to treat her successfully. I take her to a different clinic for routine care, but i think both are equally as good. In terms of cost, vet care in general is expensive. I think prices here are comparable to other vets and they have specials sometimes here such as dental month or senior bloodwork. read more

I have been bringing my oldest cat here for 13 years and have brought in my other two cats in the last 5 years. The staff all around is very nice and accommodating. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! By far the worst vet experience. They are shady, dishonest and will swindle you for every dime. They said our dog had an yeast infection in her ear. They charged us $175.00 to put one drop of medication in her ear. They guaranteed that it would fix her ear. They then proceeded to try to charge us for IV's that we declined. She was not dehydrated and no reason for her to need fluids. If we didn't ask for the itemized receipt before paying, they were ready to charge us another $200 for a service they didn't even provide. A month later and the problem still persists. After talking to them, they said we were sent an email recommending a follow up. An email we never received. They charged us for the entire tube of medicine although they only used one drop. Now they want to charge us for another visit and more medication. read more

**** This review is for pet boarding only **** I recently boarded my little miniature pinscher here and he enjoyed his time here! Located along Cornell Road across the street from Costco - Hillsboro and McDonald's lies Frontier Vet Hospital, which is in the same plaza as a storage center, a thai restaurant and kindergarten/pre-school day-care center. A couple weeks before I left for my vacay, I called Frontier and asked about their rates ($26/night) which was pretty much cheaper than PetSmart on 185th ($28/day). This is great for a student on a budget! Rates are different for cats ($18) and other animals. I believe it's an additional $21 for a second dog to be boarded as well. Furthermore, if you'd like to add other items to your boarding care, it ranges from $4.50 (for extra TLC play time, brushing) to $7 (for extended play time, tooth brushing, pampering - per session). There are extra charges if your pet requires to be given meds or needs to be watched extra closely if they have a medical condition. Frontier Vet Hospital was available to give me a tour that day which was a clean facility and they showed me a little area where they play with the dogs outside (and where they do their business). I like that they are open early so you can drop your pet off and late enough so you can pick them up if you get back a bit later (Hours = M-F: 7AM-8PM, SAT: 8AM-5PM, SUN: 9AM-1PM). You pretty much fill out paperwork and give instructions about how you would care for your pet. You are more than welcome to bring your own pet items (bed, blankets, toys and food) as long as you put your pets name on the items. Service was great! The associates and staff members were delighted to take care of my little one. In addition, when I called over my vacay, they were able to inform me of my dog's status! When I came back from my vacation and picked up my dog, he was happy to see me, jumping for joy! He did look like he was a bit skinnier, but he's a picky eater anyways. Nonetheless, I wouldn't mine boarding him here again! read more

I wouldn't even take a stray rat to this place! All they want is your money and to play your heart strings to get it! Don't go here! STOP ~ find a vet via referral only. I took my 3 pound yorkiepoo here due to an absessed tooth. They took her temperature, nothing, ran her stats, nothing, she got a clean bill of health, aside from the tooth which required antibiotics. (Exactly what we brought her in there for) Not let's see what happens next: wait for it .... So, they performed preventative "necessary" blood work additionally for another $180.00. Prescriptions for antibiotics and pain for another $115.00 BUT now don't forget the office visit fee of $80 :) THE NEXT DAY: I get a call from a different vet at the clinic telling me her blood work came back showing other issues and that I needed to bring her in to be hospitalized immediately - furthermore that I needed to stop the medication they gave her the day before as it was prescribed wrong - yep, you read that right, they prescribed her the wrong medicine!! She proceeded to tell me that because my dog was not eating and dehydrated that she must come in. (But wait, how did she know this? My dog was with me all day and night ... hmmmm) my dog had been eating soft foods just fine and drinking water. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I was not falling for this, I informed the vet that I was on to her scam and that at this point I'd prefer to visit used car lots all day long hearing their sales pitches than hear her sales scam. I also told her I was offended that she tried to make me feel as though I didn't care about my dog!!! I demanded she email me the blood work to review. I KNOW YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DOG, RIGHT? well, I took her to my regular vet from over 3 years ago in Seattle, (I moved to PDX just recently) I emailed the blood work to my former vet and guess what? Ha ha ha ha ha - he informed me to run fast! Stay away and that I was being scammed. And NOW ....... cricket is 100% fine - and she never had to receive any treatment at all - IMAGINE THAT!! so, stay away, just as I was advised. But nothing special for the price. After paying well over 578 dollars for ONE dog for a wound cleaning, they wanted her to come back for a recheck. The recheck just make sure she is doing well costs MORE MONEY. And if I hadn't asked how much it would cost they wouldn't have even told me they would charge me on that day. I have been behind-the-scenes at many veterinary offices, and worked closely with Vets in multiple offices (in Nevada), and I am very surprised by the quality of care offered at Frontier. It is not cheap, but it is also not super outrageous. You get what you pay for, I suppose. They are definitely more high-tech than most places, and the communication has been great on their end. I received two phone calls post-visit: one from the receptionist asking if Lily was doing better, and another from Dr. Wikander explaining the results from her test and asking how she was responding to the treatments given. They are very thorough and don't act like your questions are an inconvenience. They will be completely honest and provide you with the best solutions possible. I was told by a Banfield Veterinarian to use an OTC product for her ears (a cleanser and ear mite treatment), which ultimately made her ears worse and resulted in a bad infection in both ears. I brought the product in and was told exactly why it was NO GOOD and could hurt my poor baby! The meds they gave me worked super fast and very well. She is feeling much, much better. And the shot she received for inflammation also seemed to clear up her eye allergies (she also has dry eye). read more

Friendly staff and definitely 100% improvement on all communication. Not quiet happy with them not having my dogs prescription food in stock and they should order more of it to avoid this issue with me and anyone else. However, overall it is great care for my dog and cat when all communication is in place. I like how there's someone at the desk everytime I walk in. There was a female there I'd never seen there before who was kind and chatted with me while the other female was checking the status of the dog food. read more
