Really wanted frozen yogurt so I went to this little joint! Overall the experience was great! What I like about it is that all their yogurt is organic. So the quality of it is a lot better. Their yogurt flavors were awesome and their were a lot of toppings to choose from. The only down side is that it's a little watery so their not checking their temperature and stirring it well to make it more thick. Also the plain tart wasn't tarty as other places but they did have unique flavors that made up for it such as samoas cookies and melona. The area is really clean and it felt cozy inside. The decor is fun and visually stimulating and the seating areas are inviting. Lots of frozen yogurt flavors to choose from and a whole array of toppings and add-ins. I can't tell you how good the frozen yogurt is because I didn't get a chance to try it. This review is more about the people that works there and how they behave without the average customer knowing, and this is how they really feel about their customers since mistakes brings out our faults. It's easy to act nice when it's business time but if it's not, you're nobody as they treated me. So I left. I walked in not checking the time since I felt they were open since people was in there talking story. I opened the door and walked in. The employees were talking storying and joking around which in most places they do that but I was standing there for about 3 minutes about 12 feet away in plain site and then I felt maybe I will check this place out and see what I have to do since I seen all the machines and they were yakking too much. So I walked around and still in the view of the employees and after checking out the machines, I figured I would still have to check if they had the Dole Whip that I seen online that they suppose to have. Really just a single Dole Whip Cone and I waited for some time in there. Well finally one lady finally turned around and seen me and looks surprised? Then she told me they weren't open, so I asked when do they open and she told me at 11am and it was already 10:44 am. Ok I get that but why leave the front door unlock and not notice me walking around checking out everything before I finally waited again right by them? I went outside and told my 20 year old son what happened and he couldn't believe it also, so we left with a very bad view point in how the Kailua Businesses are really running their businesses now from the days I worked in Kailua myself. This Frost place is directly across the street from the Kailua Zippy's which back in the 70's was a Big Armor Oil Gas and Dunlop Tire dealership. I was the manager at that station and knew the original owner of Tomasa's school bus, the bike shop which is across the street also and on their side I also knew the florist shop and the bakery shop next to them but further inside back in the days. We all never treated our customers like how I was treated today. I don't think the lady knew the words, "I'm sorry but we're closed but maybe I can help you" as I done many times for my customers at Armor Oil especially during the gas shortage days where I had to handle the long gas lines round the block, the bakery donated donuts and coffee for our hard workers at 5am, McDonald's donated meals, Pizza Pete's free pizzas since the lines were endless and all day and night never sat down eat as you pump gas for the customers. The free food these local Kailua businesses gave the boys gave them the incentive and morale to keep working and I would always mount tires from Tomasa even if we were busy. That was the Kailua way but it's all a front these days as I say it to people I know, Kailua is just another tourist trap. Maybe if I was a tourist at FROST, they would had done something because I wasn't the undependable person that leaves a place of business front door unlock during non business hours, what do you think people will think? Yes that's right, they're Open as you push the door open and see the employees yakking and to wait so long inside and then make me feel not wanted and no sorry? I never seen this type of behavior from a Kailua business. Maybe because I'm a senior citizen now, did that make the difference? Guess what, my money is as good as the tourist's money it's all the same. Remember, I didn't break the door open neither was I hiding as I was only 12 feet away without no obstruction of view from the employees to me and then waiting for sometime after that. Kailua businesses used to help each other but also go out on a limb for their customers but today I see that's not true anymore. I could fill this whole box with the good businesses that aren't there anymore that wouldn't turn down a customer without a really good reason. Leaving your door open and standing there doing nothing tells your customer that you are OPEN! Think about it. Over a little Dole Whip Cone... You really made me feel low so I had to come home and put out a review about how I was treated, so think about how they really think about you behind the fake smiles? But we decided to try it out to treat our three-year-old. Surprisingly, he cared little for frozen yogurt, but had a blast in the barefoot artificial turf play area. To each his own. I might try their milk teas on a different occasion (set prices FTW), although I'd be hard-pressed to go out of my way here again. The only qualm I have about this place is that they don't change up their flavors majority of the time and some of the soft serve is way too soft causing it to melt quickly. I never thought a Froyo place could be so child friendly. The first time we were there we sat down and watched Disney movies we actually stayed until closing twice. My kids and I were in love. We grabbed our cups and filled them up with different flavors. I like going for the sweet creamy chocolate flavors like cookies and cream, red velvet and original chocolate while my hubby goes for the classic tart and bright fruit flavors like Lilikoi, strawberry, pineapple. Most all of the frozen yogurt options are organic, many of them gluten free and lactose free. The syrups are organic and homemade in a true rainbow of colors. There are tons of sweet, crunchy and nutty toppings to finish off your creation. The staff goes out of their way to make the outing fun, even during Covid. But here in laid back Kailua, you can cool off hot tempers or temperatures, not with "Yo Mama", but with Yogurt Mama. This place is quite large and is on one of the main drags for Kailua town, Oneawa street. It has the obligatory Froyo place's bright colors. I came to Yogurt Mama on the 4th of July but didn't see any fireworks here. Since I spend time in Kailua, having some frozen yogurt would be the ultimate pleasure. They offered 12 different flavors with little sample cups by the serving cups. I sampled many of the flavors which were flat, inconsistent, lacked true flavor and flat out gross. There was a non-dairy watermelon flavor which was terrible. Everything else was mediocre at $0.42 per ounce. I ended up selecting the original vanilla which I could have ordered at the McDonalds for a fraction of the cost. The one thing that was going for this place was their flavored mochi balls and dried toppings! You can select coconut, strawberry, melon, blueberry and regular mochi balls. They also had 28 dry toppings (cereal, chocolate, etc) and 15 mochi & fruit toppings. You might be better off getting a little bit of the fro-yo and go heavy on the toppings! Inside is bright and colorful with several flat screen tvs. Outside; the parking can be challenging. You can try it out but don't expect too many explosions happening in your mouth! read more

Located in the heart of Kailua across from Zippys. Recently they knocked down the building next door and expanded the parking lot. That is great! That was what this place was lacking. Parking! I finally made a trip to Yogurt Mama on a hot afternoon with my son. After constantly hearing my two younger children rave about this place lol. They come here every week with their grandparents. The shop is clean neat and organized. You have a wide variety of flavors to choose from. They even have a few Greek yogurt flavors as well. I got chocolate and strawberry and my son got the lychee flavor. We moved onto the toppings. Oh my goodness there is a lot to choose from. Cookies, candies, cereals, nuts, cakes, mochi, popping balls, cookie dough and more! The yogurt was refreshing and surprisingly very cold. Lol the popping balls are very interesting. They do exactly as it is titled. A little "pop" with a surprise. I will leave it at that. At $0.42 an ounce you can't go wrong. They also have smoothies and bubble drinks from the quick glance at the menu. I will be returning here more often as I prefer it over the other place I have tried. More flavors and more toppings! Truly terrible bubble drinks. I ordered a lychee smoothie with boba and it was awful. First, it took like 10-15 minutes to make it and there were no other customers. Second, there was barely any lychee flavor and too sweet, big chunks of ice in it, and the boba were hard. Third, there was this friend of the cashier there (kids were basically running this place on a Friday night) and making all sorts of irritating, loud noises while running around the yogurt area. The cashier kept telling him to stop but he just kept going. On the edge of passing out because of walking around Kailua Town on a hot, still day, I crawled into Yogurt Mama. I instantly felt better when I was hit with a wave of cool AC air and the army of steel yogurt machines staring right at me as if to say "eaaaat me!" And that I did. I was hungry for my second breakfast that day, so I decided to order an acai bowl. I've become addicted to the flavor of the acai berry, especially since it is a great anti-oxidant (which means it keeps you looking young & healthy, woo!) You order the acai bowl at the counter and the employee goes and makes the acai mix in the back. She brought it out and I topped it with more than what comes with the typical acai bow....I was hungry, okay?! Besides granola, strawberries and bananas, I also put on mangos (which were so fresh and delicious!), cranberries, kiwi and yogurt chips. My acai bowl came to about $6 and some change, which is a great price since some acai bowls alone cost around that price but without the mangos/yogurt chips/kiwi/cranberries, so I felt like it was a very fair price. I always feel so healthy & refreshed coming out of these yogurt places. The service was a little slow considering I was the only one in there when I ordered, but they only had one person on staff, so it was okay. Mostly all of their toppings here looked fresh...the bananas were looking a little sad and depleted in the container though. Yo Mama! I heart Yogurt Mama! Come on down to Kailua to this sweet, happy little piece of fro-yo heaven. The decor puts a smile on your face instantly with its brightly colored glass tiles lining the wall and the loads of drawers filled with sugary treats like gummy worms, snow caps, oreos, brownie bits...ooh I am getting onos for it just writing this review. They've got the most awesome oreo flavor and when cake batter flavor is in the dispenser I pile that bad boy up in my bowl! The last time we went they also had a red velvet flavor which was BOMB! The staff are friendly. There's always seating and the place in exceptionally clean. There's also a public bathroom (spic-and-span as well) that can accomodate a stroller or wheel chair if you need. So glad to come back again!! Well they are technically essentials but I didn't start coming out till June because of COVID. I've been here a bunch of times and even before they changed the name to Frosty, which I don't remember the name previously. If you haven't already noticed, they had many similar spots like this in town, but a bunch of those stores been closing. I live in town area and I would literally catch the bus from town to Kailua just to eat here! Yes you read that correctly! The selections they have are GREAT!! I don't even know how much it cost per ounce or lbs, however they do it, but I don't pay attention to that because I felt that the price I always pay for is worth it so I'm happy with it! Because of COVID, they provide hand sanitizer and disposable gloves! You can still eat in there. The TV that's in there is outside of the store which is a great idea!
