Over the years, Rick's remained a Sacramento staple, and when they opened up their new location in Midtown, the dessert community welcomed them back and embraced their sweet offerings, bigger space, and late night hours. I never went til just a couple weeks ago. Around 9pm on a Friday night I was craving banana cream pie and the husband wanted cherry pie. On Yelp search, Rick's came up as the top choice that was open. So we went and stood in the long line. The place was crowded and loud. Lively and busy vibe. Line moved at a good pace and the staff helping were nice but hurried. So we took our lil pies to go. We both liked our chosen pies. Now I know what to order if I go back to Rick's. Pies over cakes. Every time.

They have a great selection of Gunther's ice cream so you really can't go wrong with a flavor. The warm donut paired perfectly with the cold, creamy ice cream, and the coffee flavor worked so well with it all together. Definitely something I'll save for an occasional treat, but it's also something I have already been thinking about often now. The staff was also super sweet and welcoming. I'll definitely be back!

Like most other ice cream places, you can choose your flavors and toppings and eat it in a cup or cone. Customer service was great. The person serving us was really friendly and was great with my niece and nephew. The owner rung us up and was really friendly as well. I did not eat the ice cream, but the service and the way they looked makes me think it is decent ice cream. Great place overall and I may come back to try this if I go to Me's kitchen again.

Waiting to be seated, I stood for about 5 minutes watching about 6 workers talk amongst themselves up front, no one saying to anyone "hey, there's someone waiting to be seated". I stopped someone in mid "haha" convo with another coworker to say "is it the type of seating I should seat myself?" He said: "oh um, you can grab a menu and I can seat you if you want" If I want? Yeah I guess I want (?????) I was checked on once. Mind you, only two seated tables besides me. I took a photo and blurred out faces, so it shows how empty it is and how many people are in the back having convos and neglecting customers. Close to closing time, they are probably cleaning up, but they are totally 100000% distracted by going home that it's like customers don't even exist inside anymore. They also forgot to include the marshmallow in my ice cream, but at least brought it on the side without me asking for it. But the ice cream and carmel syrup especially is good!
