Let me start off by saying I hate fast food burgers. Well everywhere but Frugals. They have the freshest ingredients and every burger is cooked to order. Every time I stop by they are always so nice. Ok so to everyone who says it's the best burger in Tacoma it's a lie unless you remember it from back in the day when I was a kid this place was amazing so packed on any given night and some of the best food every!! This was my last trip to Frugals. Although they have good food, it isn't worth the headache and extra gas that comes with them forgetting orders. For the second time in 2 weeks, I ordered 4 burgers and ended up with only 3. Rarely, if ever, do they give a receipt, so when I returned to get the forgotten burger, they wanted me to produce one. When I told them they didn't give me one, they wanted to know which window I went to, how long ago I was there, etc. When I told the dude this was the second time in as many weeks and I didn't think I would be back, he said "that's fine." No apology, no offer to refund the cost of the burger, no responsibility whatsoever. Apparently, they have enough customers already, so I'm done. read more

I used to like Frugals: cheap and tasty. But I went by today and after a 20 min. wait they got my order wrong, I ordered a Bacon Cheesburger and got American cheese. This may not seem like a big deal but I HATE American cheese, it makes me want to vomit. I went back through the long line and asked for a re-fill for my soda for my trouble and long wait, they refused. Then I got the new burger and they did put cheddar cheese on it but it wasn't even melted they just slapped it on and there was no bacon. It was just a frustrating and disappointing experience considering how much I used to like them. Probably won't be going again. Also there seemed to be a flooding situation going on in the middle of the floor, the employees were walking around in it. It looked unsanitary to say the least. read more

2nd time there; first time was ok, this time was horrible. Not only did they get the order wrong, they refused to give us the drinks that were part of the combo we paid for. They argued with us about the upgrade to the shake and then just refused to complete the order. Doubt our complaint to the manager or corporate will garner an apology or refund but hough I'd like to be proven wrong. Closest place to new home for a quick bite, doubt we'll be back. read more

Came to this very fast food place with high expectations but ended up with the runs. This place is apparently the staple for the local populous. At first glance it seems like an ok place. They don't have an inside so expect to grab your food and hit the gas. The employees look like they are the living dead. No personality but you could give them that they are probably reading a script verbatim. The food was extra greasy and the frys had no salt. On top of that I was hitting the bathroom within a few minutes of finishing with a code brown emergency. read more

I love Frugals. It's in my neighborhood and I've been going there on and off for 15 years. My favorite is the BLT, but there are lots of good choices. The wait time is typical and the food hot when you get it. The prices are competitive and typical. Don't forget to order tarter sauce or fry sauce. It's extra, but good! read more

Had Dbl cheese burger combo meal and Mushroom/Swiss with Peach shake. The burgers, although good, it was not In & Out. It was little wet. The ground beef was good quality. The burgers were assembled with heavy hand as buns were semi flattened. The frys were better than In&Out as it was crunchy and had good potato flavor. The 30 cent dipping sauce tasted like mayo/catchup mix, would be better off with plain catchup. My reason for the 3 stars was the shake. The peach flavor was weak and had a off taste, also the soft ice cream base was weak in cream flavor. The deal breaker on the shake was it wasn't thick and had lot of air in it. The full cup felt very light. I would go back again and give the shake another chance with traditional flavors. The price was fair. Oh, the drive through service was fast and friendly. read more

Have been going to Frugals ever since it opened and love the burgers, the only thing I wished they had to offer is onion rings otherwise I think it's the best burger for the money in Tacoma and second to Miners in Yakima for best burger in the state. read more

I love this place!!! Frugal's has the best burgers in the 253. Usually, I keep it classic with the cheeseburger. Fries and shakes are great as well. I always recommend this place to people passing through. Quick, delicious service. Oh, and don't forget the tarter, YUM!! read more

Coming home from a camping trip, we had to pass through Tacoma the other night. We wanted burgers and decided to see what Yelp had. The reviews pointed to Frugals so we decided to give it a shot. At first, we were a little saddened because we wanted some place to go in and sit down, but we gave it a shot anyway. For $14, we got 2 combo meals that were very good and filling enough to keep us going the rest of the way home. I had the Mushroom Swiss burger and I enjoyed every last bite of it. It was cooked just right, the burger patty wasn't too thick or thin, the swiss cheese was melted just right and the burger even looked amazing. I will be going back to Frugals next time I'm in Tacoma. read more

My husband and stepson love this place. I was not sure what to try on the menu. The "boys" had to have their big burgers. I was not feeling it. I saw that they had a BLT on the menu. I tried it and must say it is one of the best BLT's I have ever had even if it is on a hamburger bun. The lettuce and tomato are piled on and there is about a 1/4 of bacon on it as well. If you like BLTs... I would suggest you try this one. read more

I'm super disappointed! This was one of my fav spots for a good old burger but my visit today wasn't great. The people are always friendly and nice but my food wasn't great as usual. I am the patient person who is more than happy to "wait" for a fresh off the grill burger and right out of the fryer fries. Today my food came out faster than nasty McD...heat lamp food to say it best...it wasn't a busy time at all! I'm extremely sad about this. the food is 5 star as far as burgers joints go and normally the people that work there are layed back and oft times as they are busy there matter of fact yet pleasant but my last trip thru as busy as they were some old lady that works there sure had time to be a real beech and get all snotty with me about having a lit ciggy in my car, self appointed cig police I suppose but no problem, I know smokers are a dieing breed and im very considerate to others,even though the wind was blowing, the smoke was getting no where near her and it should have been a 30 sec transaction I folled her forceful command [ shes so tuff ] and put out my smoke so I could get my burger and go, but she still had to continue to be snotty to me and act lie she couldn't reach out the window to get my money and hand me my order, totally bigged dealed it, what a position of power to be slinging burgers out a drive thru window, the food shes handing out all day probable kill as many people as the smokes, anyway that's my gipe I don't need some snotty condescending attitude for a ok burger and fries, and I don't deal with companys that allow or condone that crappy attitude with customers, the burgs & fries are good but not that good theres plenty others to be had elsewhere read more

Have been there 2 times in a week to give it a chance, Had the fair burger and the bacon burger. Fair burger very good, Bacon burger to much sauce and bacon way under cooked had to take it off, and the fries the nasty thing I have ever had cold and very greasy. I would have gone back but since both times I had to wait over 5 minutes for this nasty food. will not be back. read more
