We were staying at the McMenamin's in Tacoma for the Thanksgiving weekend and our server recommended Spanky Burger. I'm so glad they did. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the food was just amazing. All three of us had the sourdough and mushroom burger, and it was sooooo good. It was juicy, flavorful, cheese-y, just everything you could want. I got a side salad instead of fries, I couldn't believe how huge it was, very fresh and had lots of veggies, even black olives, and also crispy onions. My friend ordered onion rings and fries for the table. The onion rings were very crispy and delicious, the fries were standard, but good. Service here was so great. Always a favorite for us. We usually uber eats so this is based on delivery. Sourdough cheeseburger is my go to. Fries are crisp and seasoned well. My husband likes the cheese burgers and they make those with extra work. I usually crave their fries and onion rings, really recommend those. Food is fine, nothing special. Staff is sweet and helpful. However, every time I've been inside the last few months, it's very cold. I guess they like their AC. It is in a prime location on 6th.. super fun to try different brewers/ cideries in the area and then pick up a burger of your choice! They have lots to choose from and even have veggie options! I recommend getting the spicy burger with a beyond patty. Unfortunately, they never opened fully after COVID, but I would still recommend stopping by, or ordering ahead of time and picking up. My small company just moved down from Seattle. An employee that had previously lived in Tacoma recommended Spanky Burger for our weekly staff lunch meeting. We were extremely shocked when we got there and discovered that they still have not opened their indoor seating after the 2020 mess that shut down indoor seating has all ended everywhere else. WTH? We have tried Spanky's multiple times... a few reasons why I give it three stars. 1: They still have their entryway blocked from Covid-19 days. Must be more convenient for them, but it's not very convenient for customers when it's cold outside. My suggestion would be to keep the restaurant "to-go only" but allow people to stand or sit inside while the wait, especially during winter. 2: They have left out side sauces and given nearly cold fries multiple times but we don't find out until we get home since it's to-go only. Pretty frustrating since the prices are the same as sit down restaurants in the area. 3: Burger patty / burger as a whole just feels small for the price. I like their salads and creative menu options but with so many burger options in North Tacoma - this one just isn't going to be top of list for me. read more

Burger is great every time! Their buns are really good but I prefer mine lettuce wrapped, you can really taste the burger that way. Sidewinder potatoes are the best version of a fry that I've had in a long time! So crunchy on the outside and oh so good! I discovered Spanky Burgers years ago when they were mentioned by the Evening show. Since that one discovery, everytime im in the area, no matter who i'm with, I always let them try Spankys. Friends and family have raved and sometimes ask to see if we can just take a trip to visit. Except my fiance but thats because he is a little picky when it comes to burgers and patties. To me, their burgers are spectacular. Patties well cooked and a bit juicy. Each bite always oozes with sauce. The only thing that i have to down star on is their onion rings. We ordered it on the side and each bite into it, you cant find a piece of onion. Its basically a battered up circle. Overall, i will still continue to visit. Now that i live closer to the area, Spanky's will expect to see my face more often. My recommendation for a first burger is their Chipotle Bacon Burger. A kicking taste that makes me crave more. No indoor seating, so had to eat in my car. Ordered the spanky cheese burger, good burger, fresh veggies but not a fan of the bun or the spanky sauce ( too much sweet relish for me). It's been a while since I go to Tacoma, so everything looks new and flashy to me. They have so many options to choose from on their menu. Took me like 10 minutes to decide what I want. At the end, I got their "Fried Chicken Burger." The chicken was fried but not crispy enough, but it still tasted great though. Their fries are freshly made because it was busy so they just have to keep making new batches of fries. Service is friendly and their price for their food is decent as well. My friend and I were looking for some good fries, and this place had some nice fries pics so thanks Yelpers! Plus the name was so interesting, my friend and I wanted to come in to scope it out. They have a pretty big menu so we took our time to look over the menu. The cashier saw us and asked if we had any questions and did answer our questions as well as how their sides work. We got our food a little later than I thought we would but it was so worth. First of all, they toast their buns, thank you! Their burger patties are also delicious! On the fence about this place. Everyone raves about the potato nachos, I don't think they are they great. All though good it's too over the top for me and makes me sleep (all those carbs). Spanky burger is good but nothing spectacular. Service is always kind and inviting. They don't allow dine in services and no where to sit and wait for your to go order so the restaurant set up it's self it not customer friendly.
