Solid neighborhood burger spot attached to a butcher shop/fresh veggie market. I had the triple onion crunch burger and I liked the sweetness of the charred/caramelized onions, crunch from the fried onion strings, and the soft onion bun. The gouda was lost in the sweetness, a saltier cheese may be a better option. As for the burger patty, it was cooked perfectly and was clearly freshly ground. However, today it was missing salt and it really needed it with all of the onions. I'd definitely go back and try their bacon cheeseburger and the pies/desserts. read more

Had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a cookie. The cookie was great and all the baked goods looked delicious (plenty of options). The burger tasted great and can easy get a bite with perfectly cooked bacon opposed to when a bacon slice doesn't bite well causing the whole thing to pull out messing up the burger. Surprisingly little grease and juice residue falling out the back meanwhile the burger itself was still juicy and the last bite wasn't just a soggy greased bun end. Speaking of buns, the cheese bun is a great touch. Only thing that wasn't doing it for me personally were the fries and some of them were greening. It's a walkup stand serving up a selection of burgers, as well as coffee and other treats and some savory sides. A lot of the burgers sounded really great, but I decided to go with a classic cheeseburger. The cheeseburgers come with a cheddar kaiser roll as the bun which was delicious. Handcut steak fries perfectly seasoned. The jalapeno burger cones on an onion roll and it's piled high with spring mix and burger with onions. The creamy blue has a top coating of crumbled blue cheese and excellent amount of lettuce and onions. Very filling. Spent time talking to the owner although we didn't exchange names. Cute out of the way place with some absolutely amazing burgers that are handmade and grilled outside about 5 feet away from where you sit. The fries are hand cut with skins on. Super tasty! Amazing!!! I was so eager to take a bite out of my burger, I failed to snatch a photo of it. The triple onion crunch burger is so savory and tangy, with the perfect sweetness from the onions. I love that my patty was handmade not coming out of a freezer bag. Soooo delish, and the hand cut fries were perfect. The hospitality was heart warming, I felt like I was hanging out with an old friend. I highly recommend this joint. The deserts are baked daily and looked amazing. It's not often that I run into an exceptional place to eat. It requires cleanliness, great service, expediency, value, and of course, delicious eats. Ooh Lala Burgers knocked it out of the park. They were accommodating to my daughter's dietary restrictions and made a jalapeño burger for real - fresh jalapeños, none of that canned or jarred garbage most places serve, and cooked just right. A burger should be represented by the meat and it was. Perfectly cooked, seasoned, portioned, and hand pressed lightly like it is supposed to be. Neither offering was sloppy with sauce, greasy or too rich as often happens when people pretend to make a gourmet burger. Yes, I call these gourmet burgers at fast food prices. While the food was spectacular, Tish (owner) and Earnest (brother and burger cook extraordinaire) both came out and spent a ton of time talking life with us. The onion burger, the beer brat, the chili bowl, the fries and the jalepeno burger. It was shared by my partner and I and the only regret was not having enough room in my stomach. Ooh lala burgers is a walk up window next to Dave's Meats - yelpers have graciously provided pics of the menu if you're interested or you can come by and take a look. Parking is on the side, back, and street. 21st street can be a bit busy but not impossible to maneuver. Orders taken at the window and food prepared and served promptly. I ordered the creamy bleu burger, fries, strawberry lemonade and strawberry rhubarb crumble. Hiked this morning and the burger and fries really hit the spot. My brother wouldn't stop raving about this place. He's brought my mom and aunt, he's brought my cousin, and now he's brought me and his wife. And I'm so thankful. This place is phenomenal. I got the regular cheeseburger and my brother and his wife got the triple onion crunch. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, we found out it's ground in-house, and it goes great with the cheesy cheddar Kaiser bun. Oh and did I mention the amazing banana bread cake? I'm sure that's not what it was called but it should've been called heavenly. And the lavender lemonade made a perfect drink for it all. We talked to Trish, the owner, about how delicious it all was- turns out she's the baker as well. Is there anything she can't do? Only complaint was the amount of sauce on the burger was a little overwhelming and I wanted to taste the juiciness of the burger and cheese but the bbq sauce dominated. I was looking for a good burger joint in North Tacoma and happened across a small locally owned business called Ooh Lala Burgers. What a great discovery! We walked up to the order window, ordered a bacon cheeseburger, a "Hot Lips Jalapeño Jack" burger, and a single side of french fries. The burgers are BBQ'd to order on an outside grill and the aroma of grilled meats greets you when you arrive. The buns they use hold together really well and are the perfect delivery system for these amazing and tasty meat bombs! Both were fantastic and we will definitely be ordering again. The french fries are a large portion of hand-cut freshly cooked potatoes and also REALLY tasty. I should also mention that the customer service was well above the standards for which we have become accustomed. It's clear these guys are passionate about their burgers, and kind in the way they treat their customers. This is a home-run burger and home-run business. They also have Brats and a host of other products. Not sure of Ooh Lala's affiliation (if any) with Dave's Meats, but they are co-located in a building on the corner of North I Street and N Steele Street.
