I like that Ranch 99 has their own boba place INSIDE the grocery! That's awesome, however...with 85 Degrees bakery in the same plaza, I would go there for boba instead. The prices for their "specialty bobas" are a bit high for my boba price tag. I think one of the ones that I would normally get like the regular milk tea with boba, egg pudding and some sort of extra chewy goodness was over $6!! Usually bobas that are that special are $5. Also, considering that I'm a big boba snob, I wish the milk tea was not super sweet. I always ask for 0% sweet for the sweetness grading and even then it was still more than what other Austin boba spots like Kung Fu and Gong Cha use. They do have more Americanized flavors like horchata based milk tea and other things like smoothies with oreo. So I can appreciate the creative mixes, but it's not my thing. My friend had the mangonada and that definitely looked good. I'd probably go with that, but not sure how that stacks up compared to other mangonadas in the area. I still have yet to try a place known for their mangonadas! If I'm in the area and am dying for a boba, but don't want to wait for the 85 boba line...then Fruitealicious is an option. Unfortunately for my IG followers, I always get the same brown milk tea with 1/2 sugar & boba, and the medium here cost me $3.95 total. But it did quench that Asian need. I am mildly curious what the Purple Taro Oreo thing costs. Boba places are kind of like ramen venues - whichever one you like, I won't argue with you. Nope but it is good for what it is. My normal order is almond milk tea less sugar less ice but today I opted for taro milk tea since well...I was in the taro mood. They crank the order out pretty quick and the drink was fine, perfectly sweet as requested though a bit grainy at the bottom that takes away from the smooth boba experience. The pearls are perfectly chewy, sweet and bouncy though so that aspect of texture they nailed. But it certainly hits the spot and having a boba drink in hand might make it less tempting to buy many of the other assorted Asian sweets nearby. read more

This new boba place opened up inside Ranch 99 - YAY I'M SO HAPPY. The drinks are honestly pretty good! The tea is strong and it's well made. It's not 5 stars-worthy yet because the staff is new - can be a bit inefficient since the person working the register calls out every order one by one. It can probably be improved if there's a 10+ people line.. Another small thing is the menu...hard to follow. The prices are everywhere, spread across the screen. I didn't realize there were different upcharges for different toppings (I'm used to it being one price for every topping i.e. 50cents for boba, or grass jelly, etc). Not sure if it's a marketing strategy but it makes customers unaware of how much money you're racking up by making it hard to add 75cents here, $1 here...OH $6 DRINK? They do have a rewards program so I am thrilled about that! read more

I went to visit the new shopping center on Lamar and Airport. If you are from California, then you know about 99 Ranch Market. It's an Asian market that has a lot of different items you will not see in a traditional supermarket. Inside they had a bakery and stumbled across this delicious hidden gem. Fruitealicious!!!! The owner was training the cashier when they were taking our order but you can tell she was great. She took her time to explain everything but also had great customer service. I look forward to visiting again to see the customer service when everyone is fully trained. I've gone to many bubble tea & smoothie locations and even though they had delicious drinks. Their customer service was lacking. Now to the drinks. I ordered a Taro Oreo shake. It was delicious and just the right balance of sweetness. Everything was well blended and you can taste the taro and the oreo at the end of every sip. They had many options to choose from. They had tea, smoothies, and boba. They had all the other toppings that people like in their drinks. I'm not a fan of boba in general but I'm sure it is good. I probably would've enjoyed the lemonades more if I had ordered a different (sweeter) flavor. Mango passionfruit slush: Probably one of the top ten best drinks I've ever had. It's sweet, fruity, refreshing, and even a hint of savory due to the passionfruit. I actually wasn't the one that ordered this drink but I really wish I was because it was so good I wanted to drink it all myself. This drink alone made me give this place five stars. 1. Grab and go only. There were hardly tables and it's between a deli and bakery that was so cluttered. Random sushi shelf pushed against the front window. 2. Unorganized- there's a line to order but nowhere to wait. Workers were too busy talking to each other so I had to repeat my order twice! Orders were not given in order even though everyone had drinks that were just poured from pitchers. 3. Milk tea had zero flavor. It was super watered down and when I complained and asked for another, it tasted like the same batch but more tea added. Black tea also tasted watered down. I took a good 20 minutes staring at the menu because the variety in flavors is immaculate. I ended up with the strawberry peach and loved it! I ordered the black sugar milk tea and guava green tea. Both are very good, especially the black sugar milk tea. The black sugar makes the milk tea very distinguish from other milk tea sold in different bubble tea places. I am a big fan of milk tea. It is very creamy, sweet and a light bitter taste from tea and black sugar combined. Perfect combined taste of a real milk tea to me. I ordered 75% sweet level for my black sugar milk tea. But for the guava green tea, I did not adjust for the sweet level. Because I know the guava syrup makes the tea sweet, they would cut down the syrup level to make it less sweet. That means your tea will have less guava flavor as well. For syrup flavor tea, I recommend ordering as it is, no adjustment on sweet level. read more
