I am still giving 5 stars because I love the food (I've had the pizza, quesedilla, wraps and the kale yeah salad) and I want to support a plant based business, but the customer service I had yesterday was so poor. The young, blonde girl looked like she just rolled out of bed and didn't speak one word or look at me the entire time. It sounds silly but it made me feel unwelcome and like I didn't want to go back. If I am going to spend $18 on a salad, I would think at least a "hello" or "thank you" or smile would be nice. Maybe she was having a bad day- but if she can't even look at her customers- maybe she should call out. I've been searching for healthier meal choices and I'm so glad I finally tried Fruitive. It's pretty small inside but I love the hipster vibe and decor. The bookshelf and ladder remind me of my dream of having my own home library. A few of my favorite songs came on while I was waiting for my food too, so that's always a plus. Service here was surprisingly wonderful! The girl who took my order was incredibly friendly and upbeat. She suggested several menu items and was brutally honest about the flavors of some of the fancy cold-pressed juices. She helped me decide on a wrap and commended my juice choice after I grabbed it from the fridge up front. As far as the food, I was happy with my Tuscan kale wrap. It was very filling and all ingredients were fresh and tasty. I love anything with quinoa. The hints of cayenne were a nice touch as well. The food and juice was yummy, but the service was outstanding and is definitely going to bring my back to Fruitive. Honestly I wish I could hire that girl to work at the restaurant I manage but she seems like she's happy here. She wasn't wearing a nametag but she had glasses, a black hat and two nose rings. I have to say I was very excited to eat here but very dissapointed to see the prices were extremely expensive my food came to $19 I got a smoothie and a drink I expected great food for that because you can feed 2 people at tropical smoothie for that and give them a smoothie. The food at Fruitive is well done and I've enjoyed it every time. I'd be inclined to go there more often, however, if the service and prices were better. I tend to grab breakfast there before work and would prefer to call ahead as you're likely to wait quite some time for your food once you order. Unfortunately, they only answer their phone maybe 20% of the time, making ordering nearly impossible. As far as prices, I paid $29 for one juice, avocado toast, and a 10% tip (I took my food to go). While I understand that the food is high quality, this seems a bit steep. All in all, if you have time to kill and don't care about the bill, it has good food! read more

The staff is always friendly. It's a nice, laid back spot to chat or hang out with a friend or 2. Their servings are plentiful. A wrap could easily serve 2 or 3 people. There's an alkaline water cooler, which you can get your own water while you wait. The prices aren't too bad and the food is really good. Also, their fresh juices are EVERYTHING! I'm so happy to say that they've worked out the allergy kinks. No longer using canola, soy is still on their menu, but you can now get food other than smoothies and juices and not run into it. Staff today was very friendly and caring about allergies to the point of looking it up in their book. It would make it easier if you could do a little annotation on the menu for products containing soy. Love the menu changes, was here back in the spring and they hadn't made the new changes that they now have. Ended up getting sick when the employee who took my order and went over allergies with guaranteed there was no soy in my taco. So mid eating started feeling sick and could tell there was soy and brought it up to the food window and they were alarmed and said, yes there's soy in that. They were nice about it and made me a different taco but I paid for that mistake for a few days. I can now say, that I had a meal here and felt great afterwards!! If an employee wasn't sure she checked with someone who was. It's just so great and a place I'll keep coming back to when in Va beach. Came into Fruitive close to closing and the employee who took my order, "Legacy" was extremely accommodating. I didn't feel rushed eating although they were preparing to close. Customer service is top notch and highly recommend visiting if you enjoy a plant based, organic meal served with a genuine smile. I ordered the Southwest wrap and it was fully packed and delicious. I've been to the Va Beach location before and loved it. The sandwiches are delicious and I loved the wheatgrass shots. I'm putting 4 stars because I had an amazing time here. I did want to mention though that the Norfolk location is (intermittently?) closed. The sign on the door still has the normal operating hours but there was no one there. I don't know if the Norfolk location is affiliated with the Va Beach location, but there was no signage or online info to indicate it was closed until I walked inside the Hilton and saw a little "Closed" sign on the register. This did throw a wrench in my plans as I had explicitly planned to eat there due to my family's diet. The people upstairs at The Grain said that it's hit or miss when Fruitive would be open downstairs. Again, not blaming the Va Beach location; just wanted to mention it in case someone was planning to take a drive to the Norfolk area (like me) and had included it in their plans. read more

I couldn't be more excited about Fruitive! This is exactly what Va Bch needs- healthy food to go. They have a small bar & a few tables (indoor & outdoor) for dine in, but it's primarily to-go. It's not as quick as a fast food restaurant, but anything worth eating takes a bit more time. At Fruitive they have healthy smoothies (not the crappy fake fruit ones like other restaurants), juices, salads, acai bowls, wraps, & sandwiches. On my first visit I tried the hint of mint juice, peaches & greens smoothie, build-your-own salad, & super berry acai bowl. I LOVED everything! My only gripe is that I am a meat eater & I like to have the option to add meat to my salad/wrap. But that's my only gripe. I can't wait to go back and sample more menu items! Hands down, best healthy juice and food in Hampton Roads! Fruitive is one of my favorite places to go when I'm craving something healthy (yes, believe it or not I crave healthy food.) Everything is made in house, their food is all fresh and all natural. They get a lot if not all their produce from local farms, one of them being New Earth Farm, located right in VB. Juices, liquid meals, wraps, salads, and berry bowls are some of the items you'll find on the menu. My favorite: Kalevolution- Kale, Cucumber, romaine, apple, lemon , ginger (don't be turned off by the green poo color, it's very refreshing) Yeah... it's a little pricey, but if you can spend $7 bucks on a fast food burger meal you can most certainly spend that on food much healthier for you. You've got to be crazy not to like this place, even people who aren't completely on the healthy/veggie wagon love it. I drive from Norfolk just to go here, co-workers in Ft. Eustis give me money when they know I'm making a trip, it really is that good! The interior is very beautifully done, kudos to the designer. read more

This place is off the chain! I went in yesterday for the first time to grab lunch for my bestie and I. From the moment you walk in, it's like you're in a different world. The lovely folks working there are so friendly and so nice; they ask your name as soon as you walk in so they can address you more personally through the whole process. Since it was my first time, I asked for a few recommendations. The gentleman helping me, Sam, was more than happy to tell me not only what was popular, but also his favorites. I ordered a wrap, steamer, and a few juices. (I juice at home, but they had so many combinations that I had to try some!) The key thing to note about Fruitive's menu is that everything, EVERYTHING, is 100% plant based. No meats, cheeses, or otherwise. Everything is also bought locally. No imports or the like. How wicked is that! Since everything is made to order, I had a few minutes to look around. They have little signs everywhere, telling the customers what they did to earn their ranking as a 3-star green establishment. (My favorite is that their chairs are made from rubber trees that have exceeded their point of production and would otherwise be ripped out and just tossed out!) Once I got lunch home (yes, it traveled very well), I was not disappointed. Whoever said vegans don't know how to eat can lick a big toe. My wrap (the Mediterranean) was so packed with flavor and veggie goodness, I could hardly stand it! I also got the peanut Thai steamer: delish! Finally, someone who knows how to cook buckwheat noodles that don't suck! Of course the juices were out of this world. Get the Carrot Kick- it's like dessert! I've worked in juice bars in cities that have a much higher cost of living than this one and this place was sub par to say the least- especially considering it was almost 50 dollars to get food and drink for two people. That is absolutely ridiculous. I got a steamer and it was bland and flavorless. Fruitive is new, shiny and delicious. A completely plant-based cafe, they offer salads or wraps, juices and smoothies. After their grand opening they will until 8 and will start serving breakfast. I've seen and spoken to the owner every time I've been here, he's very involved in the work. He was even making salads the other day. This is the kind of good for the body, good for the community restaurant that Hilltop is going to love. Opening over Memorial Day Weekend, they were clearly trying to find a solid plan of service, but that did not impact the perfection that was my Sweetgrass. I personally always have to convince the person making my drink that a Sweetgrass with no pineapple with in fact turn out well, but it's worth it. (I just honestly am not a fan of pineapple juice.) This place is a little hidden/hard to find. You need to really be on the look out for it. But if you look to the left of The Fresh Market at Hilltop, you'll see Fruitive. When you walk in, it's got a great homey feel. All their products are recycled or reused, the tables/chairs, etc. So far, I've only had two products, but they're amazing. The Cacao Pow and the Southwest Salad. Both are super filling but sooooo good! This place is all organic, vegan, non-gmo, good for you, makes you feel good about the choices you're making and happy that you've eaten such delish food. The bf and I ate lunch here yesterday. Fruitive had a West Coast feel with a laid-back atmosphere, customers in casual/yoga attire and a menu comprising all-natural, vegan food! The staff was friendly and the store manager was hospitable. The furniture was made of rubber trees, and restroom sink's water operated through solar power. They recycled as much as possible. Back to the food...The collard wrap was 150% delish! I ate an entire package of coconut macaroons and sampled the protein power (forgot the name) juice. If you are a health nut and love smoothies. Go here, they are awesome. Not to mention, their small location is filled with notes on their furniture saying how they were made either recycled or out of different material; I thought that was neat. They also have a old fashioned library/booth in the back that adds a gentle but adventurous touch to the whole place. Their ingredients are all natural which is a plus and I don't mind paying their price. This is the type of place where you actually pay for the quality of the product and they are very filling. Needless to say, their meal replacement smoothies really make you feel full. I decided to try Fruitive when I was visiting VA Beach for work. I loved the decor of the place and the menu was very extensive. Visiting from LA it felt like home to me. The only drawback I had was the prices for a cold pressed juice. I'm a regular juicer and having an abundance of them in LA is very convenient but I thought the price of Fruitive was definitely pretty steep to me. LA's average fresh green juice is cheaper. This place was great. We juice daily so I wanted to try it out and compare to mine. The staff was friendly and very helpful (Kyle) made a few suggestions so we opted for two Brighten Up & Charcoal Limeade. The best was a typical beet juice (definitely good) and the Charcoal Limeade was a lip pucker up. The taste was amazing especially if you like sour - if you don't stay away. It makes Sour Heads tame in taste lol The place is very very small only a handful of tables inside and out so be prepared to wait For parents it's not very stroller/jogger friendly as it is a tight space. Will go back again. Oh if you take a jar - wash it and return for $1 back. They're swift to take your order, and they're always willing to answer questions about their menu. The first time I came here, I brought one of my best friends, who is a vegan, and we were both astounded to learn that the entire restaurant is vegan. Used to ordering from a tiny section of the menu, she was overwhelmed by the number of choices. The staff members were more than willing to help her choose and offered their own suggestions and favorites. Another plus: Fruitive is very green. They have three bins: recycle, compost, and trash, and they helpfully tell you which of their food containers can be composted or recycled. One word of caution: you get what you pay for. Be ready to fork over $10-$20 depending on what you order. Most of the fresh, cold-pressed juices run anywhere from $8-$15 for a 16 fl oz bottle, and the sandwiches and bowls average around $10-$15 each. Oooh, cool place. I've been hearing about it forever and finally stopped by when I was in the area. They are soon moving to all cold-pressed (organic) juices but in the meantime they have regular or organic juices to choose from. I will say, they could stand to add a few more food items to their menu but perhaps keeping the menu small allows for fresher, more quality fare. I love the idea behind Fruitive. Fresh ingredients used to make delicious juices and dishes right in front of you. The first time I went I had the Pineapple Xpress. Pineapple-y, gingery, yummy! That paired with some slices of watermelon from Heritage Natural Market almost made my morning. Was I happy to pay $9 for it? Not really, but I know how using fresh fruit and juicing it can be. I also wasn't too fond of all the foam. That's just what happens when you use a high-speed juicer. It aerates the fruit and veggies too much and leaves behind a lot of good juice in the fiber. Hopefully they use it for compost? If the place didn't stay so busy, I'd recommend a slow-juicer. Sometimes I just want to buy a bottle and be on my way. Whenever I walk by, there are barely any juices out. Like I said, I know they get busy, but it would just be nice to see something to grab and go, you know? It's still an awesome place if you're looking for some tasty plant-based cuisine. You don't have to be a vegan to enjoy the flavours and the atmosphere. Worst vegan food I've ever had. I have a lot of patience with vegan cheese because I can't eat dairy. But the pizza here is flat out disgusting. Located in the Hilltop area of Virginia Beach, next to Fresh Market, this little cafe, offers juices, liquid meals, wraps, salads and berry bowls. The ambiance is similar to that of a coffee shop, but a little busier, not quite as laid back. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. Prices are pretty steep...think LA. You can order you own combination of fruits and juices, so that's pretty cool. Protein packs, are available, as well. My potassium is low, so I just wanted a simple banana and almond milk smoothie and they whipped it right up for me. My partner opted for the Kalevolution and it tasted just like what we'd make at home (but it would have taken us 4 times longer to make it, not to mention the clean up afterwards. I love the juices they have. They have a market in dc where I get them weekly from. My personal fave are the red root rising and kalevolution. I also get the all green one occasionally but that one tends to sell out before I can get to the market at times. The price is high but not much more than what they sell at whole foods or the grocery store. I like that it's fresh. The only thing I wish it had was the calorie/sugar count as i would prefer to get one with less sugar and calories if possible. The salesperson indicated the three I mentioned had the least but It would be nice to know approximate calories I'm drinking. It's no where on the website. I usually love drinking about 4 to 8 ounces daily either before or after a workout! Gets me through when I need that extra burst of energy. read more

Fruitive is top notch in every regard. The broad selection of smoothies and juices are all made fresh and, when possible, from local suppliers. The interior of the store is just as impressive. For a minute, you almost forget you're in a strip mall and feel like you're inside a Pottery Barn catalog. Yes, the smoothies are more expensive then most, but if you have ever tried to juice yourself then you know how quickly the price for ingredients can add up. When you factor in not having to purchase a juicer and the time saved not having to actually juice it yourself, the price is very reasonable. If you want a glorified Slurpee then go to Tropical Smoothie. If you want more fruits and veggies than you probably eat in the course of an entire week condensed into one delicious drink, then spend a couple bucks more and go to Fruitive. The Peaches & Greens (orange juice, almond milk, spinach, peaches, banana) could easily be substituted for a meal. It's very filling, and despite its toxic green appearance, it tastes amazing. Hubby and I were in town for the Thanksgiving holiday and without our Vitamix. We checked online to find places to buy green drinks and Fruitive came up. We made the trek to Lasking Rd from Kempsville and spent over $30 for 3 drinks. A spicy lemonade, Nobility and Greens etc. I felt like I needed to take out a second mortgage to use this place on a daily basis. I will stick to Jamba juice next time. At Christmas we premade smoothies at home using our Vitamix and took them to Virginia Beach in a gallon jug. No second mortgage needed. read more

The food is great, service is wonderful. But I feel that it is a bit over priced. Maybe it's the location, maybe not a lot of competition so they are able to set higher prices.
