I travel quite frequently and sometimes am unable to procure a visit as a client where I live so I decided to shop around for a salon that would be able to accommodate my temperamental schedule. After numerous calls to various salons around in the area, I was able to land an appointment later in the afternoon with Malina. The salon here is a no-frills, straight to the point business oriented establishment so while salons nowadays in general attempt to woo/wow customers with flashy interiors that no doubt cost a pretty penny, it was nice to walk into a spot where they can concentrate on their services and not how you spend your time waiting. In addition, they probably get a lot of walk-ins due to the proximity of the Sheraton across the street as well as other businesses in the area. I told Malena that I wanted to clean up my short to long layers and for a quick trim. I prefer a low maintenance approach to my hair since I don't have the time to apply products or straighten/curl. Most days I blow-dry my bangs then put the rest in a low bun for work and for casual days, it is loosely looped into a pony-tail. I had the best shampoo service in a long time. It was very relaxing and Malina took the time to wash my long hair and a head massage during the process. Once done, she expertly divided my hair into sections and proceeded to clean up my layers and the trim. The blow-out was also well done, since my usually slightly wavy hair did not frizz up in the Sacramento humidity. My friends commented that my hair looked really smooth and that the layers looked great. My cut was only $40 and compared to my usual $90 rate around in the city, this was a steal. Thanks for the great cut/trim, I recommend this spot for their great service and expertise and have now found my go-to spot during visits to Sacramento. read more

This is specifically for my manicure. I have not had hair services here. The tech (I believe her name was Amy) was very nice however I got the impression that she was a hairdresser first, nail tech second. She seemed very nervous and barely filed my nails. The part she did file was crooked and they are all different lengths. She did nothing with my cuticles and didn't even have a block to buff and smooth out the nail. When it came to Polish she was sloppy. I got a dark red and it was all over my skin and cuticles even tho she tried to clean it up with a brush. The polish was bumpy and the color was uneven in spots. They chipped the very next day. Had she not been so worried about trying to sell me their lotion with Aloe in it, maybe she would have noticed that she basically soaked my hands in water and then messily applied polish. She even missed doing the top coat on my pinky. My nails look no better than when I take five min to polish them myself. It was a waste of $20. This is in response to the nail techs comment below: I did not say I loved it and I choose not to get gel because it makes my nails thin. Please don't put words into people's mouths just to save face. I would still not recommend your salon or nail services. read more
