    Fried Calamari*

We ordered the calamari. $12. This is what we got for $12. Where's the rest of it? What a joke.

Food was disappointing. We got the spaghetti and meat sauce but it didn't have much meat. The sauce tasted like tomato paste with a cup of sugar. The house salad was decent. The service was good and we were in and out pretty quick.

Stopped in today to get my normal calzone and it had a little burnt taste. I saw that they scorched the bottom but I could eat around it.

I have been around Kyle for almost 20 years when the H-E-B +1st opened up. When Ilarios first opened up, I was excited to find that they had calzones on the menu. That was quite a few years ago and as I ordered the calzone when they first opened up, I was disappointed. The dough was tough. It had no ricotta cheese just mozzarella, and every other item added was extra. today I decided to give them a try after so many years with their calzone. I ordered takeout and was surprised that ricotta cheese was added to the item. Once I got it home and tasted it I have to give them an A+ for improvement. Being from Brooklyn, New York I quickly commented who makes a calzone with no ricotta cheese? This comment was made many years ago when they first opened up. The crust was good and the fillings were amazing and abundant. Thank you, Ilarios for including the ricotta cheese and making that crust buttery and garlicky. You are now on my neighborhood favorites. I did not stay to eat at the restaurant, but it was clean and ambience was nice. Keep up the good work.

Laurie greeted us at the door with a brilliant smile. We knew good things were to follow. Chicken Florentine pasta and shrimp scampi were absolutely devoured. Our Pinot noir was the perfect accompaniment to our entrees. Zach came out to visit and mentioned his banana pudding gelato. What?? What a fun Texas twist to an Italian staple. Excellent, attentive service from Laurie. We will definitely be back and highly recommend you give them a try. The place is unassuming and easy to miss. I see many Italian date nights in our future.

    Baked Lasagna* Chicken Cremora*

Eat here! Seriously. Baked Lasagna was delicious and a healthy portion. The chicken Cremora was well baked yet tender and good amount of Alfredo complimented the el dente pasta. Accompanying lightly baked garlic knots made the dishes even better.

We pulled up thinking they were closed but a waiter immediately told us they were still going for the night. Boy did she not disappoint. Served us some of the best garlic bread, vegetable and chicken soup, steak, and pasta we've had in a while. Decided to catch them again to see if the first visit was a fluke. This time for an early evening dinner. Coincidentally, we had the same waiter as the first visit and again she did an amazing job. She was very patient and of course, the food was amazing. The salmon piccata and chicken piccata were both very filling. Have I mentioned the vegetable and chicken soup. I really like that soup. Also to note, they give very large portions of the proteins. It's easily worth the money. Check out my photos and you'll see what I'm talking about. As for the decor, they have some really nice paintings, indoor and outdoor seating, and a good sized bar! Check them out if you're in the area!

I ordered the house salad and the Noli's Sautéed Chicken dish. The salad started off on the wrong foot. When I asked about the dressing, the server mentioned a tomato vinaigrette. I'd never had a tomato‑based vinaigrette before, and after tasting it, I'm certain I won't ask for it again. The flavor landed somewhere between someone's imagination and cocktail sauce sharp, odd, and completely mismatched with the meal's Italian profile. The chicken pasta dish arrived promptly, but visually it didn't wow me. Once I tasted it, the issues became clearer. The chicken itself was rubbery and bland, with no seasoning. It felt like the components were tossed together with the hope they'd fuse into something cohesive, but they never did. The white wine lemon sauce was barely noticeable, and the sundried tomatoes were present only in appearance. It left me wondering whether there's a chef ensuring consistent flavors back there. The charm of the restaurant is undeniable, but the dishes need intention, seasoning, and balance to match the warmth of the space.

Stunning experience…read more This place has to be some of the best food my wife and I have EVER had. We came here to celebrate our anniversary recently after a close friend recommended it. Normally when I hear Italian I think of American Italian - heavy, one note, and leaves you feeling terrible after. Trattoria Lisina was none of those things. First, the location is beautiful. The entire restaurant is surrounded by Texas hill country beauty. The restaurant balances class and cozy in a way hard to explain. The wait staff is excellent and knowledgeable on the menu. Even the small details like their uniforms were excellent. The food is hard to describe. My wife spent an hour post dinner discussing how incredible it was. Every dish we tried was perfection. The fried elements were crisp. The raw elements melted in your mouth like butter. The entrees were executed in a way I've never had pasta! We will absolutely make this our "special place" for life occasions moving forward.

We started with salads, crab cake, and some focaccia bread that honestly disappeared in about two minutes, soft, warm, exactly what you want before a big meal. For mains we ordered several dishes: the mezzanine ravioli (hands down the winner, don't skip this one), spaghetti and meatballs, and the spaghetti bolognese. All solid, but that ravioli stuck with me. Do yourself a favor and save room for dessert. The gelato is fantastic, and the classic chocolate cake with salted caramel is the kind of thing you end up fighting over the last bite of. Overall, great spot, and the service is excellent!!!

The person greeting us, even shared some insights for some upcoming shows. They'd be having that seem great to attend. It's fun to have that sense of community being welcomed into the restaurant as soon as you get there! We split up, and I went to grab seats while the other member of my party stood in line. Seating wasn't difficult, and it was well ventilated, which was highly favorable and much appreciated in the heat with missing fans, running constantly, cute ambience, lighting with the small bulb lights, and even bug spray available they make sure that this dining experience was covered on all bases so that you would have a great one. The menus are easily accessible, with multiple copies, being passed down the line, and sitting in the stand as soon as you walk up. However, after hearing about the restaurant online, and taking some time to read the menu prior to arrival, I knew what was on my mind - carbonara. From arrival to ordering with maybe about a 30 to 40 minute wait however, it was worthwhile. The dishes are made to order, with fresh pasta being used, making it even better. We opted for two half orders to share, and that was definitely enough food because we ended up even taking leftovers. We also got an order of the garlic bread with tons of roasted garlic, parmesan, and green onions. While the carbonara was flavorful and what my mind was initially set on, the other pasta actually ended up stealing the show and was what we finished immediately the Leopold had a pesto base and a nice hint of spice even without the peppers (which were taken off in our order). Overall, the most difficult part of this meal was parking, and the fight was completely forgotten after my first taste. They have a small lot, however, if you circled the nearby neighborhood a couple times you're sure to find a place to put your car.

That's the reason my rating wasn't 5 Star. Because the restaurant was pretty empty on this Saturday afternoon, I feel the Chef shouldn't have sent out fries that weren't piping hot. I imagined on Valentine's Day that the atmosphere would be more pleasant but it was completely lifeless inside. There was no music playing and practically no one speaking to each other, making it quite awkward for my friends and I. We started with a very underwhelming Caesar salad, to say it was average would be a lie. We then bit into very obviously frozen mozeralla sticks with no flavor and a rubbery texture. Our pasta dishes were painfully plain, with the lasagna not even being layered, sauce that had no flavor, and an overwhelming amount of rubbery cheese. I understand this is a small town and suppliers likely don't provide the best options. However, I was actually angry when I ordered FOCACCIA and received a French roll cut down the middle and covered in more rubbery cheese. I suppose whoever made the menu has just never had focaccia anywhere else and assumed it means cheesy bread in Italian. Not to mention my server tried to charge me twice for it. If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Cuero do yourself a favor and go to Whataburger, Taqueria Jalisco, or pick up a frozen lasagna from HEB if you are really craving Italian. Quite frankly this was the worst italian food I've ever had, I'm sorry to say.
