Here's the scoop on Fry the Coop-- we LOVED it when opened. The price you paid was the quality you received. As of late, and I mean the past few months, the quality has tremendously gone down. The flavor profile is still there which keeps us coming back (because it's amazing), but the chicken on the sandwich itself has shrunk big time. As a supply chain management person, I understand the struggles we're dealing with, but the quality shouldn't go down and price goes up. Which it has! Really good chicken sandwiches. You can tell they're made fresh. Ladies that work here are pretty cool. Clean bathroom and tables which is a big plus in my eyes. Prices for 2 sandwiches and one was a meal, costed over $30... so it's a little pricey. When this location first opened it was excellent fresh and hot food with an attentive staff. after Covid hit they dropped the combo platter because they said they " needed to make more money " I went back last night and the staff was absolutely clueless and rude. The cashier over charged me for items that are included with a platter, when she was asked about the overcharge she smirked and closed the window. Tinley Park location. Three starts for the food only. The service was lackluster at best, guy taking orders clearly was annoyed by being awake; but then that seems to be everywhere now. The real issue is that inside is absolutely filthy, every surface is covered in a film of fry oil, just walking is treacherous and made even worse since it was raining and our shoes were wet. Finally or maybe I should have led with , please offer a healthier chicken option that is organic and or cage free without hormones and antibiotics. Disclaimer: I have never dined in at the Tinley Park location of Fry the Coop as it opened during the pandemic. The first time I've ever been to a Fry The Coop was in Oak Lawn a couple of years ago. I loved the food so I was ecstatic to see a location open up closer to home. All 3 of my stars go to the chicken sandwiches. Just like the one in Oak Lawn, the chicken sandwiches were amazing. Juicy chicken, great flavor in the breading and a nice light heat for my sandwich. I'm not good with spicy things but I get a mild one that worked for me. The fries were not good at all. It was dry on the inside and soggy. Not sure if it was because we ordered takeout but the drive home wasn't long so it shouldn't have been ruined. I give 0 stars to the service. While I did order inside, the staff wasn't great. They weren't welcoming and was a little rude when the card reader wasn't working right. She told me to put my card in but it kept loading and not processing. Maybe I was taking it too personally but she seemed frustrated at me for it not working right. I get that the place just opened up and there may be some hiccups but I don't think she handled it right. Either way, food is still good. Hubby and I decided to eat chicken for dinner. I want to mention my husband has eaten at the Chicago location and love their food! We both order medium heat honey butter chicken with seasoned fries. We walked in to order our food because the line for the drive thru was too long! When we got home to eat our meal, I saw both of our sandwiches barely had "honey butter sauce" on them. The chicken was ok, the taste of the bun was bland. As for the seasoned fries, there was an overabundance of salt, and we were given burnt end pieces of French fries! This is my first time at a Fry the Coop restaurant so I can't compare how it is at other locations. However, the chicken sandwiches were delicious and I would definitely go back! Nashville fried chicken sandwich: tasty! My chicken was crispy, the coleslaw and pickles were nice and refreshing. Thks coleslaw was on the sweeter side which gives a nice sweet and salty flavor to the sandwich. It was well-constructed and didn't fall apart. Spicy honey butter sandwich: my boyfriend preferred this to the original one. The honey butter was flavorful and rich and buttery and quite spicy! The sauce was kind of messily put on so when he opened it there was just sauce everywhere, but it still tasted great. House fries: a miss for me. They were very salty, like I giant chunks of salt in some spots salty, and warm. I like my fries hot and fresh whereas these tasted like they had been sitting. Flavor-wise, they're cooked in beef fat which adds some flavor, but the execution was too poor for me to enjoy it. The fries were inconsistently cooked. I had some that were limp and others burnt to a crisp. Add on top of that the random salt chunks and it was a no for me. Overall, this place is a nice treat yourself kind of meal. My bill was $24 12 The sandwiches did not only fail to live up to the hype, they were down right horrible. Popeyes is 1000% better and more than 1/2 the price less. First time trying out Fry the Coop,First thing I noticed when we pulled up is how long the drive thru line was! We ordered through the app for pick up, and arrived at the time the order said it would be ready. We were in and out, definitely recommend ordering for pick up. As for the food, I got the chicken sandwich with mild sauce with Mac & cheese, hubby got the donut fried chicken sandwich . The chicken sandwich was really good, Comes topped with pickles and coleslaw. Husband said his donut sandwich was really good too. The Mac & cheese has to be the best I've had from a fast food place! The fries on the other hand suck. They taste old and burnt. Skip the fries & get the Mac! You won't be disappointed. I just spent over $35!!! on (2) chicken tenders and a chicken sandwich. It's $5+ dollars to add a side and a drink aka "coop it up." The chicken itself was very good and high quality!. Good crispness and tenderness. The Mac and cheese and potato salad was subpar. Meals also include 2 sliced pickles and a piece of white bread with the tenders. If this was maybe in a nicer location or more inviting atmosphere, the prices MIGHT be more justified. We asked the friendly cashier if we had heard correctly and she explained that "prices had gone up... again." There are not signs about any price increases. It just feels weird and wrong to pay nearly $40 for A CHICKEN SANDWICH AND (2) CHICKEN TENDERS! I feel like Ive just been robbed. AND for this price, nothing should be disappointing. We had dinner here on 4/11/22 and ate at the restraint. The sandwiches are good--not spectacular but good enough. The fries have nice flavor. Service was pleasant and fairly quick. This is my second and probably last visit to the place. I went shortly after they opened, the wait in the drive through line was unbelievable and the food was mediocre at best. I chalked it up to new opening glitches and figured they'd be as good as the Oak Lawn location soon enough. Tried it again today and unfortunately worse than the first time. The drive through line took almost 15 minutes and there were only 2 cars ahead of me at 3:30 Saturday afternoon. My Nashville chicken sandwich had good flavor but was lukewarm, my house fries were practically all end pieces and were also barely warm and my root beer was watery.....all for the steep price of $12.98.
