Yumee Katsu is a new restaurant that opened up and took the space of where Von's Chicken used to be in this mall. The parking is horrendous on the weekends. If you are lucky to find a spot, you will see the restaurant by Paris Baguette and Venus Cafe. The interior is nicely decorated and modern. The service is friendly and attentive. Donkatsu Spicy Chewy Noodle - first off, the noodles are cold like a salad. Don't get me wrong, it was a flavorful, hint of spiciness, and thick chewy noodles. The katsu was fried to a golden brown. Assorted Katsu - pork katsu, shrimp katsu, and cheese katsu. A good entree if you are undecided on what to get or just want to try a variety of fried choices. Support your local business.

Was pleasantly surprised to find Yumee Katsu as a new addition to the busy Pacific Rim Plaza on Hostetter Road. We stopped by for a late Friday lunch and the restaurant was initially empty but quickly filled up minutes after we were seated. Service was super friendly and informative when explaining the different menu options. Ordering is done on the iPads at each table- we ended up ordering the curry shrimp katsu udon and the regular Yumee pork katsu set. Food arrived piping hot in a few minutes with 2 small sides of kimchi and radish, dipping sauce, and soup. All the food was great- the pork katsu was tender and crispy and came with a good portion size while the curry shrimp katsu udon was also good but much smaller in portion. They exceeded my expectations and I'm excited to go back for more!

Nice and Homey upon walking in, The tables have tablets for you to order which I love Getting into the food Assorted Katsu- (4.5/5) Amazing variety from their menu, katsu served in different ways, variety of dipping sauces, good meat quality, and great presentation. Curry Katsu w rice - 3.7/5 Quality ingredients but taste pretty much what you expect out of katsu. Nothing spectacular but done well! Overall, would come back. Nice spot to put on the list if you enjoy katsu

This place offers a variety of katsu dishes paired with different items such as curry, noodles, tteokbokki, and soft tofu. Each table has a tablet that you can use to place your order. I noticed a few reviews on here mention that the katsu was on the drier side so I decided to order the donkatsu ramen. It kinda reminds me of army stew but with katsu instead of spam and sausage. I can see how the katsu might be too dry, especially if you don't have something to dip it in like curry or soup. Overall, I enjoyed my dish but I also got tired of it halfway through eating it. The noodles started getting very soft and the katsu was getting soggy. My cousin ordered the rose toppokki katsu. I tried a piece of her tteokbokki and it tasted a bit undercooked. The tteokbokki was harder than it should be. We came right when they opened on a weekday so we were seated right away and our food came out pretty quick as well. I feel like they could've done a better job with checking in on us and refilling our water though because we finished the whole bottle of water on our table but no one ever refilled it. The meal came out to be about $30 per dish which I think is a bit pricy for the quality and amount of food you get. Not sure if I'd come back.

I'm so glad to try this location of Yumee Katsu, I am glad to not have to drive all the way to Dublin! The staff will direct you to a table. You order on a table at the table and they bring it out. There's not too much interaction. The restaurant is cute and clean. It was not overwhelmingly loud when we went, as the Dublin location is sometimes. I wanted to try something different from my usual order of spicy noodle with tonkatsu, so I got the tkeobokki today. The portion was a little smaller than I was expecting, but a ok size for one person. I got the pork katsu and it was great. It was soft and juicy and crispy on the outside. The tkeobokki was chewy and spicy and sweet. I would prefer the tkeobokki to be a little less cooked and there to be more sauce personally, but it was still good. The citrus salad dressing was very good and refreshing. The kimchi was very fermented. The king katsu was soo crispy, and yet still not too dry for how thin it was. We go the sauce on the side and that makes it easier to eat and crispy for longer. It is a completely different mouthfeel to the other katsu. The only negative was that the rice was very mushy. I loved it, and would come back!

    rose toppokki katsu

Saw they were soft opening in the neighborhood so wanted to given them a try and got some take out. I ordered the Rose Toppokki Katsu. Price is a bit steep, almost $30 after tax and the portion was small... as seen in the picture. Maybe it's because I got to-go and not eating it fresh but the katsu was not crispy and was actually quite tough. For tteokbokki part, it tasted like regular instead of rose. Color also doesn't look the same as their online picture for rose as well so I am unsure if they gave me the wrong order or not but they definitely charged for a rose toppokki. They're still soft opening so maybe still figuring things out but overall not impressed with the taste and price. Cashier was nice though. If I come back, I'll have a sit down meal since to-go didnt seem like the way to go.

Assorted katsu + chicken katsu curry

Waited around 30 mins before getting seated. Quite a lot of people joining the waitlist during the dinner hour rush. We got the assorted katsu(pork, shrimp and cheese) and also the chicken katsu curry. I find the chicken katsu to be the least dry and juicer than most. Cheese katsu has a nice cheese pull. I like how there are the pickled radish and kimchi on the sides, along with salad. Presentation is a plus too. -**: fried shrimp katsu is not crispy. Outer layer is too thin, so texture is almost mushy(?). Also the price for the set is normal, but the add-on side dishes are out of place. Ex: The mini udon is $5.99 and probably the size of a small fist size. It's equivalent of 2 mouthful udons. Don't think I'll get it again.

No wait for a weekday dinner! Service is minimal, after getting seated they bring water, then you order on tablet and wait. I was excited for a katsu place so close to my house but it was kind of just ok. Katsu meat was good and crunchy, but cheese katsu had basically no meat in it, only cheese. Side dishes and soup were sooo little and the salad was the most disappointing of all. Since it's just cabbage you'd expect more but portions are little and doesn't taste fresh. Poorly cut and dirty :( Really wished I liked it more or sides were refillable!

Assorted Katsu ($25.99) & extra curry ($5.99) Takeout
    Evonne C.

[Food] Takeout - Assorted Katsu ($25.99): Comes with rice, salad w/ dressing, sauce (katsu sauce & tartar), and soup. Also comes with pickled daikon and kimchi! I enjoyed the pork katsu and the shrimp, but I think the cheese one is a bit too heavy for me. You also have to eat the cheese one fast before it gets cold and hardens. - Extra Curry ($5.99): Yum! I'm glad I got extra to dip my katsu in or even with more rice. - Curry Katsu ($23.99): I feel like the takeout portion may be a tad smaller than if you were to dine-in. The tonkatsu is more on the lean side, but the curry has a nice flavor. Also comes with soup, salad, and some picked radish & kimchi. [Service] - Fast, friendly, helpful - Order via kiosk tablet [Ambiance] - Decent amount of seating indoors - Parking can get packed during peak dinner hours as it is in the plaza where 99 Ranch, Gen, Kura, Paris Baguette, Venus Cafe, etc are at. [Overall] - Would come back again to try other dishes!

3.5/5 rounded down Chicken Spicy Chewy Noodles - 4/5 The Spicy is probably an overstatement but I also take spice really well so won't dock them for that. This does come out as a cold dish which knocks down 0.5 points. The Chicken Katsu also came out barely room temperature which also sucked for another -0.5. With that said, the noodles themselves were the highlight of the dish, with the chicken bringing it down. And again, will point out that I really do think this would be better off as a "hot" dish. Above, I put "hot" in quotes, because even the curry katsu dishes came out pretty room temperature which is a huge disappointment. When you're paying $21-26 pre-tax/tip per person I'm expecting made to order, not room temperature dishes. Furthermore, if they are coming out room temperature, is there really an point in a waiting time for dishes. I do want to come back to try out their other options such as the ramen and cheese katsu, but overall, this is a weak contender in the curry-space when you look at the pricing, serving size, and quality as a whole. Slightly would also recommend checking in with their hours when they grand open since I came at 2:57 when they were "suppose to be open" but they said they would be taking a lunch that day at 3 pm for an hour, which really sucked as none of their hours were stating that.

    Korean katsu, rose tteok
    Megan D.

There aren't many katsu places here in the bay so I was super excited to try this! We had the rose tteokbokki which had a lot of fish cake and chewy rice cake to share. My sister got the Yumee katsu which was good but we expected more sauce and she said usually they give curry sauce as well. I got the Korean katsu and it came with a sweet tomato sauce which was good. And my dad go the curry katsu. Something I noticed was the meat was a bit dry and they don't give much sauce (Korean sauce, katsu sauce, curry sauce) so towards the end it was super dry. Service was good you just order on a tablet. It's a quick bite vibe. If they gave more sauce and made the katsu crispier or juicier I would come back.

    Giant Thin Pork Katsu
    Eva L.

Had the Pork Katsu with Rose Topokki, Giant Thin Pork Katsu with Katsu sauce and rice. Added a side of Udon Noodles. The Rose Topokki was really good. The sauce was so smooth, with perfect balance of sweetness and spiciness. Somehow also had some slight nut flavor. The fish cakes were also good that it's not strongly fishy; and there's plenty of it in the dish unlike some other restaurant version where they skimp on it. The rice cakes was soft with just the right amount of chewiness to it. I could eat this by itself without the Katsu. Both styles of pork katsu came out crispy and golden brown, coated with panko crumbs. The Thin one was about half the thickness of the regular Katsu. I tasted the pork better on the regular thickness Katsu compared to the thin but then version is more tender. The side of Udon had a sweet broth. The flavor of the seaweed sheets was also noticeable in the broth. The Giant Thin Katsu came with rice and Katsu sauce. The sauce was one of the better Katsu sauce I've had. It was not too sweet with just the right amount of tanginess. The Worcestershire sauce flavor was not overpowering the other ingredients of the sauce. Both entrees came with small side dishes of kimchee and pickled radish and the same broth used for the Udon. Quite pricey for over $20 per entree. But I would go back for the Topokki. Nice staff and took about 10 min for the food. Dining room had a relaxed ambiance. Ordering is through an iPad on the table. They've only been open for about a month but their food and service were already so on point.

    Curry Katsu
    Craig V.

Came here for the soft opening, and was very surprised at how good it was! The Yumee Katsu is a pork Katsu (and does come with rice ). The batter was very crispy and the meat was tender! Not dry at all. The curry Katsu was the Yumee Katsu with curry, and was also plentiful and well cooked. What stood out to us was that we got a mini udon for our toddler, but it came with spicy sauce. The waitress noticed it was for our baby, and proactively took it back and removed the spice! Such service! I liked the decorations as well with a wooden interior. We both agreed that we would definitely come back again!!

I'm glad I did and was definitely delighted by the experience. Hot Stone Bibimbap 5/5: There was a review on Yelp saying that there was no crunchy rice at the bottom and that it was bland. As a fellow Korean, let me give you some advice. Wait a few minutes and let the rice cook more because the stone bowl is still hot. lift up the bottom until you see crunchy bits and then you could start mixing. Excellent mix of seasoned vegetables and rice. They give you the gochujang bottle sauce on the side. you can adjust it to your level. Soon Tofu Soup 5/5. I've had a lot of tofu soup of what I like about this one is that it had a good balance of tofu, kimchi was not super sour like some restaurants and they give you an egg on the side. Very clean finish. Banchan 5/5: The highlight for me was the banchan. I went with a very picky eater friend and she really loved the kimchi ,the cucumber kimchi ,the fish cakes, japchae. They put a lot of effort into making the banchan - which I recognize right away. They also fill up if you run out and the dishes are larger than normal restaurants. Amazing. You read my mind. Interior 4/5: It is a smaller, more intimate seating.( about 25-30 people) . It still has the vibes of of a Korean eatery with K-pop music playing on the TV screen, wooden benches and chairs. You'll have to wait a bit if you go during peak hours and parking is a bit difficult. I suggest going within the first hour they open up when there's less crowds.

Our dishes arrived minutes after we sat down, which was impressive. There was also a variety of delicious side dishes, with various types of kimchi. The nine of us split two braised beef short rib dishes - and we were struggling to finish it all. The portion size is massive, which makes sense since it's a pretty penny. The meat was so tender, literally falling off the bone. There were a ton of potatoes, daikon, rice cake, and carrots as well. The entire dish was savory and delicious, pairing perfectly with rice. You can also specify your spice level. The medium spice was a fair amount of spice but not overpowering. I highly recommend getting the cheese on top, it provides a creamy contrast to the sharp flavors of the meat. I'm still thinking about the braised beef short rib - it was just that delicious!

We made a reservation ahead of time so we got to sit down without waiting. Our waitress was very kind and food came after ordering within reasonable waiting time. We ordered two tofu bowl dishes, honey rice drink, yellow plum wine and spicy oxtail. The tofu bowl is much smaller than other restaurants. The meal came with 10 small banchan dishes for each person, all delicious. My mix tofu bowl had a piece of real snow crab in it which explains why it cost $29. The oxtail was my favorite. It wasn't very spicy and was very soft and tasty. The honey rice drink and yellow plum wine were both good. The ambience was noisy, we had to speak louder so we could hear each other. My daughter paid for the bill and I got up to go to the restroom. The bathroom was small. There are two stalls in the bathroom so there was only limited space for more than one people to stand and wash their hands in the sink. When I finished using the toilet and was about to wash my hands and to floss my teeth, the door to the other stall opened and a Korean lady and her two young daughters came out. Since I was still searching in my purse for the floss, I let one of the little girl to wash her hands first. In the meantime time the bathroom door opened and it was the waitress who served at our table. So at this time, there were five people standing together in this very tight space. Since our waitress was so nice serving us, I moved myself into the tight space between the sink and the stall so she could open the door to the stall and use the toilet. Then I heard a loud noise, 'Can you move and give my daughter more space?' I turned my face around and saw this Korean lady was waving her hand towards me while her other daughter was playing with the water in the sink. I felt so intimididated and told her that I was making room so the waitress could get inside the stall. Sensing the unfriendly attitude from the Korean lady, I snuggled away from the sink where her daughter stood. Then the Korean lady sent both her daughters away and went in to use the bathroom. I quickly washed my hands, flossed and left. I did not want to argue with her because how you can one talk sense with a rude person? What will you do if you were me? This episode spoiled the whole evening!

I ordered the bibimbap pork rice. When it was brought to me, the waitress told me they were out of the sauce so it was very bland. Also to know they were sold out of seafood, squid, and bulgogi bibimbap. Half of the menu items were not available. There were also only 2 Bachan dishes. Kimchi and broccoli. Very disappointed.
