Food: We ordered the Shumai, the fantastic seaweed roll, the dragon roll, and the tuna roll. The Shumai was okay. The sushi was very fresh and came out very quickly. We were in a bit of a rush so we ordered within minutes of sitting down and had our appetizer within 10 minutes and our rolls within 20 minutes. Service: the server was great! She was super nice and brought our food to us promptly even tho we were sitting upstairs. Ambiance: This is a very cute dinner spot, it's has a modern Japandi interior decor mixture. If you sit upstairs and don't mind there will be hip hop and other types of music coming from the next door club "uptown social". My fiancé and I didn't mind at all! Great place to get good food and catch a quick vibe.

Second time at Fuji before a night out in Downtown Charleston. The sushi was very fresh. I loved the unique textures of the Fantastic Seaweed Roll. Our dragon roll and tuna rolls were as expected with no complaints. The shumai unfortunately lacked a depth of flavor however they were steamed perfectly. Arriving at the tail end of the prime dinner window (8:30pm), our hostess got us to our seat quickly. Our waitress was friendly and had no hiccups with the order. The ambiance of Fuji is always nice and laid back. Low lighting with a nice fusion of a sushi kitchen and a puby/divey warmth sits swirly between the upscale elegance and history of downtown Charleston.

We ordered the Sweet Boat (Sashimi) and 6 different rolls for a party of 6 and it was the perfect amount of food. The fish is very fresh and the rolls were on point. We also ordered the tempura appetizer and the tempura were fried super light and crispy. Service was great and the rolls were made fast.

I came by for lunch and this is some of the best sushi I've had in Charleston. Freshly prepared and delicious! I got the lunch special which is an awesome deal -- you get to choose 2 or 3 rolls with choice of soup or salad. I got the spicy tuna and the yellowtail scallion rolls with a miso soup.

Pretty good rolls and very decent prices. II had some pretty awful poke down the street, so I needed something to save the day and stumbled on this place. I did their three roll lunch special for 20 bucks, and it was worth the money. The spicy tuna roll wasn't spicy, but it was good. The Hamachi roll was tasty. The salmon roll was also good. No complaints, and the interior was cool. It was not the most spectacular service, but I didn't need anything fancy.

Cute spot with good sushi! They have an upstairs bar so good for families, friends, singles and anyone else. It's small so big parties may not work but worth a try!

The service is chaotic and the food was average at best with some highlights. The chaos with 4 door dash drivers trying to pick up late orders should have been the indicator to rethink our decision. However, our daughter liked the location and sushi. Felt bad for the host at front juggling orders and seating people. Was seated on the rooftop deck where the competing music from two nearby clubs and the restaurant made for an indistinguishable cacophony of sound. The tables didn't have any lighting. A cheerful waitress stopped by and left 8 oz plastic waters and took our drink orders. She returned with a large can of Sapporo beer and a Chardonnay in a flimsy plastic cup. She quickly left before being able to put an appetizer order in. We ordered miso soup that didn't come out first as in most Japanese restaurants. It came 30 minutes after ordering with our main course. It was cold and to their credit proactively removed from our bill. The appetizers included the worst Gyoza we have ever had... cold and tough doey. First time in family history there wasn't a competition for the last one. Edamame was fine. Appetizer plates were prison grade and the chopsticks were children size. When dinner came, I had to go to get more plates and table settings. Still gave a 20% tip because I felt bad for the undertrained waitress. The mixed drink in a 8 ounce plastic cup used in dentist offices to rinse your mouth just wasn't good. The Christmas roll was tasty (they gave us 2 by accident) and the rest of the sushi was ok. 2 stars may even be generous. I hope the feedback is a wake up call, but I doubt this was an anomaly.

Fuji is located on the upper king area of downtown next to many of the restaurants and bar in the area, which makes the location unbeatable. We visited for my birthday dinner and sat down promptly without having to wait too long even-though we did not have a reservation. The menu has a large variety of options from sushi to, ramen and udon soups , to hibachi. The drink menu has a few interesting cocktails and I tried one of their mules which was pretty good and tasty. For the main meal I ordered the ramen and it was cooked perfectly with a rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles. The service was also excellent - the staff were friendly and attentive, and for my birthday, they even brought out a complimentary dessert for me. There is a city parking garage across from the street at the hyatt which charges the same as the meters, so it is a no brainer to park there instead of having to find street parking. The prices are fair to high , and there are a few specials during happy hour, but nothing out of the ordinary. It is a great place to visit

Ginza was a 10/10! Would definitely recommend getting this starter. The Firecracker Roll and the Dragon Roll were also great.

10/10 would definitely recommend this place for Togo sushi! Definitely call ahead when you order

Ate here on a Thursday for dinner. We sat on the rooftop and it was gorgeous! Definitely go to the roof patio if it's open. The server was new but VERY attentive, he went and asked someone when he couldn't answer my question! We ordered a few rolls and the chirashi platter. Everything was delicious and great presentation! I didn't expect tamago or tako at a place like this and was pleasantly surprised! Fresh fish and good flavors, with servers who really care about your experience

Then on to the issues here are the following: The hostess with the most-ess and the failed system of reservations and lack there of, no matter how far out you plan in accordance becomes a major debacle when arriving and leaves a poor taste in your mouth. Not to mention the huge snarky attitudes and negative undertones received from the hostess's staff. Literally, I witnessed the young black female this past Saturday evening, Kamaya, I believe is her name display a fake disposition, associated with a fake smile and then spoke negatively of patrons behind their backs, under her breath. I get it, they can't control diners who linger around after being serve and or can't control or predict, when they decide to leave so others are able to be seated and served in a timely fashion. But, I would suggest, to always remain very transparent and do not force bogus rules of rushing a party to arrive early and then convey a message that states your table will be held for 10 minutes and then released/ cancelled. When a party, such as ourselves, arrive before time and then are told that your party will not be seated until all parties are INSIDE the building, even though they are trying to find a park in this small parking lot. Finally, all parties of your group are present and accounted for, standing in your face still within the time frame mentioned. Then to be told, you now have a few tables ahead of you and the wait is approximately 20 minutes. Really? But in actuality you and your guests now wait 40 to 45 minutes after your scheduled reservation. All the while witnessing them seat random small parties that walk in after your large group with an actual reservation. I know this because I listened as I stood idly by the hostess desk. One or the management of this establishment need to focus on revamping this failed system and have some of your hostess to work on their attitudes. Last I checked, it is patrons such as myself that keeps them employed and your business successful and thriving. Also, a word to all other patrons, if you desire a table greater than a party of 12, prepare to pay a deposit of $10 pp but you still will probably have to wait for your reserved tables. The only thing that made me come back to this place was a special request from my daughter for her birthday and our amazing Chef Marcelino, and Gee, our server was pretty cool as well. Needless to say, with all of the hoops, unnecessary rules and lack of communication, unwarranted attitudes, rehearsed apologies and lack of organizational skills, it will be a while before we return to this establishment, if at all! There are too many restaurants here in the Low Country who strive for professionalism and actually value their patrons without the blatant disrespect from their hostess desk. I would give, 5 stars for Marcelino and Gee but 1 star for the hostess desk! Do better!

I appreciated how they filled their spicy tuna rolls with chunky pieces of fish instead of the usual ground tuna used in other sushi restaurants. Their offerings and methods of preparation, paired with their higher price point, suggests they are a higher end establishment. However, the atmosphere was undoubtedly on the casual side, and their service, although friendly and knowledgeable, exuded a lack of experience and the same attention to detail that they put into their food. This was especially apparent after coming from eating at other restaurants in a similar price bracket, where you can sense the waitstaff had a lot of pride and passion for their craft, and it didn't feel like it was just a job for them. In contrast, our experience at Shiki felt far more transactional, and lacked that "customer obsession" and genuine warmth. That said, it's difficult to judge a restaurant's culture just from a single night, and maybe other customers had a different experience from us. Ultimately, if good sushi is your priority and you are willing to splurge a bit, Shiki meets and even exceeds that bar.

Shiki is exactly that kind of place--a small, warm, inviting restaurant tucked into a strip mall that feels like a neighborhood secret. Loc, our waiter, greeted us as soon as we sat down with water, a friendly welcome, and a helpful walk-through of the menu. We started with wine and sake--always a promising beginning. The first course was seaweed salad with baby octopus, and I could have happily sipped that dressing like a cocktail. Light, bright, perfectly balanced, with tender octopus that added just the right bite. From there we decided to sample our way through the menu and ordered a lineup of rolls: Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Shiromi, Rainbow, Spider, Lemon Salmon, and Eel. Each one seemed better than the last. The Spicy Shiromi was the clear standout--absolutely spectacular. What really sets Shiki apart is that every roll has its own distinct flavor instead of the one-note sameness you find at so many sushi spots. You can tell real care goes into the preparation. If you're searching for fresh, thoughtful, genuinely delicious sushi, don't overlook this little gem. Shiki is the real deal.

It didn't feel like a normal sushi bar where I felt like I was able to see the chef prepare the food I'm not sure if there was some kind of height disproportion or if the glass with food was blocking the way. The staff was friendly but there did seem to be some kind of miscommunication between the server and the chef when they were doing hand offs on top of the bar. It might be better to do food handoffs at the open corner to the side so the waitress didnt have to reach high and over customers although maybe it is different when it is busy since I was the only one at the bar. The food itself was delicious although I must admit I can't tell the difference between normal sushi. I would rate this as normal sushi. To put things in perspective bad sushi would have dried out rice or fish that tastes a bit off in a bad way. Amazing sushi would be something that just tastes so different but in a good way. Could be a cute casual date spot or even a friend group meet up spot. Keep in mind the space is limited but it shares the menu and space with Taste of Thai next door.
