I went for lunch on a weekday for a lunch sushi special. I got seated quickly at a booth near the back. The table had a nice little vase with a flower. The server was friendly and the prices were reasonable!. I got a salad, the crunchy, the California, and the shrimp with avocado. I'm a sucker for fried sushi so I was glad the crunchy was fried! This location is my absolute favorite! I walked here from my house which is so convenient and came in because Wednesdays they have live music and half off bottles of wine. The staff is delightful and takes care of your every need. I started out with the miso soup and some edamame then got the crunchy roll and nigiri. I think that their nigiri is actually pretty quality (as someone who eats a lot of nigiri). Many eat in options are not featured on the take out menu. Kids menu for dine in: my picky eater son got the chicken tempura and ate ALL OF IT which makes me want to come here every night. My husband and I both started with the ginger dressing side salad which was the very basic Japanese ginger salad that we were both happy with. My husband had the dumplings with the steak hibachi and I had the tofu vegetable hibachi which we were all happy with. Sushi is decent and consistent. The hostesses are odd and slow and always seem to have an issue with SOMETHING every time my order is the same every single time. One single order. They have a rewards point system and I am constantly asking when my points will show up for me to get some credit toward an order / it's been three years of ordering ! and every time they either can't tell me my points or they tell me the complete wrong number and it never makes sense. My ramen is empty. Which is how good ramen should be seen, finished. The pork ramen at Fuji is almost a great bowl of ramen. Salty white broth with a sweet finish and hit of crab offering an homage to the local faire. The pork and egg are where it loses sight of the perfect note. The pork unfortunately was fried crispy to the point where it had no flavor. Thankfully the broth rescues it and helps overcome the pork shortcoming. The eggs were overcooked but being "soy eggs" they have that lovely Carmel color and flavor to them but lack the creamy inside and kills the joy of a great soy egg. If not for the broth saving the whole dish this would be a different message. On a winning note loyal follower know that I am always in search of restaurants that cater to my wife and her intolerance of gluten. So finding a Japanese restaurant that offer gluten friendly fare is the best thing since Soy Eggs in ramen. Cause it means I can eat here more often. She ordered and really enjoyed the hibachi soy free (hint it's where they hide the gluten) and for that alone we will come back and attempt the ramen again. Fuji make a note of it on your website or in your menu. Yes dear patrons of gluten free living we support you. We would have been voting Fuji like we lived in Chicago early and often. It was as tasty as I remembered the first time I ate it. Pork Belly Bun: The bun was very soft and the pork belly was seasoned well and melted in my mouth. The pickled vegetables went really well with the pork belly. Christmas Roll and Fantastic Seaweed Roll: Both were not spicy even though the Christmas Roll had spicy tuna with the tempura shrimp. Both were great rolls. There was not a lot of rice on the sushi, which is a good thing, because I always love having more filling. I picked the Fantastic Seaweed Roll because there's salmon in it, and the salmon was pretty fresh. We go to the Long Point road location often and got very excited when they opened a new location closer to home. Food was very good and staff was very polite. It wasn't very busy, so staff was attentive to keeping the restaurant clean and filling drinks. Interior was nicer than the Long Point Road location, and I loved the color scheme. Only thing I would change is the kitchen door is open and you can see in the back where they keep cups and extra alcoholic beverages. It would be nice to see that door covered with a black curtain or door, just so you don't see what's going on behind the scenes. Will definitely go back! read more

The food is decent. The problem is that the restaurant is so poorly run that you should not eat here. Take out is impossible. They don't answer the phone because they don't know how to operate them. Yesterday was my first time visiting this restaurant after hearing they were starting weekly trivia on Monday evenings, and it did not disappoint! First impression is the cleanliness and ambiance. Second impression is the friendly staff that greeted us at the door with a smile and great energy. Third impression is the customer service we received after we chose to sit at the bar since there were just the two of us. The food options were plentiful. I chose the Double tuna specialty roll which came out quickly and was phenomenal! Throw in the experience of trivia, and it made for a wonderful Monday. Almost five star, but had difficulty pulling up their menu/website. Every time I clicked on it an error message appeared, so I had to call in to find out what their seafood options were. The young lady who answered the phone was very pleasant and patient. We ordered the seafood hibachi which comes with shrimp, scallops and a lobster tail. It was on the pricey side, almost $42 after tax. However, it was worth it. We received a nice size lobster, for scallops and six shrimp cooked to almost perfection with a miso soup. The vegetables were delicious and the lobster was only slightly overcooked. The soup could have been seasoned better, but pup service was fast and efficient, ready exactly when stated. This was our first time at this location and we will be back. We were very satisfied!!! Ok, part 2 of the review, we went again last nite for pick up. This time my husband ordered the steak and shrimp hibachi, I had the shrimp hibachi and my son ordered a shrimp bowl. The most disappointing part was both salads were old and the lettuce had started to turn. It wasn't fresh. The bowl was weird looking. I expected it to be similar to hibachi just in a bowl. It was totally different. I added new pictures. Won't be back for awhile now. $75 for soggy salads and a bowl with a different steak than the hibachi and it wasn't cooked to medium well. read more
