Great sushi, great service, and not so great location! I make it a point to come eat the all you can eat sushi every time I'm in town. Was very skeptical the first time coming here because you drive up and think to yourself, "wow! this place looks sketchy!" But it was recommended by a coworker and the Fujiya didn't disappoint! This place is great! Talk about don't judge a book by its cover. Highly recommend going here with your sushi lover friends and/or coworkers. I come in here mainly for the ALL YOU CAN EAT lunch for 20$. Pretty cheap in my opinion. The Sushi Fresh down the street is more expensive and did not really pull me in like Fujiya. The sushi here is always delicious and I always come here whenever I want to stuff my self like a mad man. I have probably dined here around 10 times with friends and family and am please every single time. There is no other sushi place in Camarillo that will allow you to get a good meal for 20$. I don't know why, but whenever I come in here, it is also empty like crazy. It must be .. I don't know. Bad timing? Doesn't matter, I am always happy why I leave. This place used to be well served me and my family will always go here but for some reason they got rid of our best waiters now they have some random people I went on Saturday and they had this new waiter who I told several times I was ready for a drink and he ignored me I really miss Dalee and richie they were the reason we would go we understand them and now we can understand the lady that's working there and the service is poor am sorry but bring richie and Dalee back if not find someone that has experience! I ONLY get sushi from here but yesterday I got my girlfriend a California roll like always and she said it tastes different than normal so I tried it and I didn't even get to swallow it before throwing it up. Been here about maybe 5-6 times in the last few years. Each time, my experience has been great. I come normally with friends and family, usually being greeted by the same waitress each time I come, which I think is one of the owners. I was last recently here on Saturday and yet another good experience. I believe its about $18 per person for lunch time (all you can eat) and around $25 per person for dinner (maybe a little less, for all you can eat). You usually get asked this anyways once the waiter/waitress asks for your drink orders. You get a sushi ordering menu to write on for the quantity amount you want for each roll based from the all-you-can-eat menu. And there's usually a wall mounted bell that you press when you want to put in your orders or need any assistance. I usually end up eating about maybe 3-4 rolls maximum anyways depending how light the rolls are and how much stuff are on them. Eating all-you-can-eat can probably save you about $10-15 or so since ordering individually would cost a bit more over $30 for the same rolls. My personal favorites are the Hawaiian Rolls, Pepper Ahi Rolls, & Ultimate Rainbow Rolls. The wait-time is reasonable between putting in the orders and receiving the sushi rolls. Usually about 10-15 minutes, because there's usually one chef working most of the time, but if it's busy, there's sometimes a 2nd sushi chef there as well. Also the chef usually puts at least 3 completed rolls on 1 platter, instead of having a separate platter for each roll, so sometimes you'll be wondering why it's taking a while to receive one sushi roll, but when you get served, you'll probably have 3 sushi rolls on one plate :) Also I believe you only get to order with 3 ordering intervals within 1 hour from your first order, but only applies to ordering itself and nothing to do with eating, so you have no time limit on actually eating, so take your time eating. (Note: I could be wrong about the 3 ordering intervals and it may not exist, but I'm pretty sure the 1 hour limit applies). I also like this place for a few reasons more than other sushi places. Price is great, it's a few dollars cheaper than some places I used to go to in Ventura like Sushi Fresh which is about i think $3 more per lunch and dinner all-you-can-eat specials. Also, I'm not sure if this experience only applies to me, but the waitress here at Fujiya is usually very nice about if I usually don't finish maybe about 1-3 pieces of a sushi roll, and does not charge me for the unfinished portion of the sushi roll (Because I understand they don't want you to be wasting food and time making them, especially for the pricing of all-you-can-eat). At Sushi Fresh, the story would be different; I would get charged the price of the full roll that I didn't finish on top of the all-you-can-eat price, even if there were like maybe 2-3 pieces left. Also I've been to a lot other more expensive High-End Sushi Restaurants all around Nor Cal and So Cal, and have spent at times maybe up to almost $100 (just for my own orders) and the wait time would take even longer at those places up to around 20 mins. Sometimes coming out of there not full enough, so coming to a place here like Fujiya adds a lot of value in my opinion. In my personal opinion, I like the quality and variety of the sushi rolls available on the menu. I've been to Sushi Fresh half of the time I've been to Fujiya. At Sushi Fresh, sometimes, maybe it's just my experience, but I feel that they put too much water in the rice when they cook it, then when it comes to adding the vinegar and sugar, it makes the rice really pasty and sticky, loses form and doesn't hold well. But at Fujiya, the quality of the sushi rice batch is really good, rice is moist & firm, and delicious. Also the freshness quality of the fish is good enough for me. As an end note, Fujiya is my current and primary Sushi Restaurant for all the reasons I mentioned above and I've haven't been disappointed at all, at least not yet :) read more

I went to Fujiya after seeing it on my way to Sushi Fresh. when i walked in with my friends we were greeted by a voice in another room... a little strange. we walk in and there's only one other party at the bar. we sit down and check out the all you can eat menu. not too bad. the thing that threw us off is that you only get THREE chances to order. how strange. a slight panic washed over our group as we tried to decide how much to order so that everyone would be full with only three chances to order. we ordered a bunch of nigiri and 5-6 rolls and some appetizers. while waiting for our food to appear we noticed the ghetto tv. it was a flat screen plasma being held up by black duck tap and chains. minus 0.5 star for decor. okay.. onto the food. free edamame!! we got some oyster shooters, what a disappointment. you get this huge glass of ponzu/sake and half a tiny oyster and a quail egg. the oyster was as big as the quail egg... and if you don't know how big that is.. it's about the size of a nickel. the calamari was okay, but it came only with ketchup. next we got some of our rolls. the ultimate rainbow (spicy tuna with mixed sashimi on top) was awesome! the best thing we ate that night. the rest of the rolls were not very memorable. the nigiri was mostly good. we had some tuna, white tuna, albacore, yellowtail, salmon, mackerel, and sea urchin. the yellowtail and white tuna were good. the albacore had rooster sauce one it and not ponzu which made us question it's freshness. salmon, tuna, and mackerel was okay. the uni tasted fishy....ewww. even though the food was just okay.. at least the service was fast, though with only two parties to attend to you would expect it to be spectacular. i don't think i will be coming back here. i'd rather go to sushi fresh. read more

This place has so much potential. If they do a little bit of cleaning and renovation the place would look so much more appealing. If they would add a couple more servers and sushi chefs it would make all of the difference. I say that because despite the 30-40 min in between AYCE orders the sushi itself was actually pretty delicious. The staff looked very stressed running around working their best to satisfy these hungry customers. More than anything management needs to fix those issues and this place can easily thrive and become a 5 star AYCE sushi restaurant. read more

AMAZING 11/10!! I come here with my family about once or twice a month for the AYCE lunch. The food is fresh and in good quantities. The dinner is even better with more food selections!! The servers are kind and always around for our refills and any used plates!! I highly recommend trying this restaurant. It's small but the food and service is amazing!! I went here for the first time on a weekend date for dinner. The service was awesome. The waitress kept checking in which was good. The baked green muscles was my favorite appetizer. The tempura was also very good. I thought the all you can eat price was a very affordable because I eat lots of sushi and it usually runs me up $50+ per person. The sushi was fresh. This place is Nasty!! About a year ago I tried fujiya with some friends and the wife because of the cheap all you can eat deal. We all got food poisoning from this place (which lasted a few days). The wife had different fish and didn't share with us at all but still got sick. I should have really known because we didn't see any others in the place all night. Top it off the sushi didn't taste good and the sevice sucked I think there was like two people working there on a Friday night. Stay clear of this place. baaaarf! read more

Great All You Can Eat place! Been a little while since my last review, and it comes with a public service reminder for all Yelpers. First some story: My company has a monthly team lunch at Fujiya so I'm very familiar with the food and service, however today was my first experience with a "real-life entitled Yelper" (there's even a South Park episode about these people.) He was sitting at the sushi bar and after receiving his order he proceeded to create a huge scene. He claimed to be a bartender which I'm guessing entitled him to a deeper knowledge of the service industry that no one else in the restaurant could possibly understand. He exclaimed that the sushi chefs did not make his dish as he expected (did I say he was a bartender or sushi chef?) and that he was receiving poor service. He continued to make a huge scene and told the staff that he couldn't wait to get out to the parking lot so he could yelp about his experience. A heavily tattooed guy sitting down the bar scoffed and laughed with a buddy about the "Mad Yelper's threat". The Mad Yelper must have had a seriously bad day because he replies to the tattooed guy with, "what, do we have a problem now?" as if to pick a fight with him on top of making a scene. Whoa, I did not expect my company luncheon to devolve into a sushi bar brawl, as entertaining as it would have been. The tattooed guy, maintained a jovial demeanor and let the Mad Yelper pay his check and leave without incident. So back to my PSA: Customers "should" receive satisfactory food and service, but threatening an establishment with bad Yelp reviews just makes you look like a douchebag. Not to mention, further discrediting the rest of Yelp users as over-opinionated and hyper-critical that has become the common trend. Respectfully give constructive feedback, then it's your choice as a customer whether to come back. Now with that event out of the way, back to my review of Fujiya. "Yay! I'm a fan." Why? Well, as far as sushi goes in Camarillo, it's pretty good. The service (particularly Rosa) is friendly, the sushi is tasty and the price is reasonable. There is room for improvement, the sashimi knife-work could be more elegant, the decor feels a bit cluttered. Dry-erase boards and other assorted items adorn the walls, corners and room-divider. It's not bad, it just feels more "home-like" than a fancy restaurant. If you are walking into Fujiya expecting an experience like dining at Nobu, or Sukiyabashi Jiro then you are in the wrong town/country. Fujiya is a great place to get AYCE sushi, enjoy a drink and walk away satisfied. read more

This is a good All You Can Eat sushi spot in Camarillo. The inside is cute and traditional which you dont find in the other sushi restaurants around, they have floor sitting tables and regular tables for whatever you would feel like. Also good for groups/parties since they have private rooms. The main reason to come here is for AYCE sushi. The sushi itself is not better than other places in the area but for the AYCE it pretty damn good. The sushi is fresh but they give you more rice than raw sashimi obviously to fill you up, thats one of the downfalls, I felt like I consumed more rice than sushi. This place is amazing though because they have a huge selection for the AYCE menu, they even have Bomb specialty rolls, I was very impressed. Depending what time you go the price per person is $18-22 and they only let you order three times for AYCE but it was cool because they dont care if you order 10 items per turn. Whenever I am craving a lot of sushi I am going to make sure to come back to this place. The owner is also so friendly and nice =) read more

Came here with my sister for dinner on a Friday night. Place wasn't to packed service was prompt. The waiter was wonderful. We order a feast, let's just say and I was super disappointed with the sushi. You think since its a sushi place it would be decent but no it wasn't. If your looking for a place that gives you rolls drenched in eel sauce or covered in the mayo sauce then this is the place. However if your like me where you like the to taste the sauces, not eat spoons of it, then this isn't the place to go. I informed the waitress that my volcano roll was excessively sweet and had way to much sauce and if I could get another roll. She went to ask the chef and they said no, I was still charged for it, and all I ate was one slice. My lobster roll was completely burnt on the top and covered in the mayo sauce making it overwhelming. Also the miso soup had a sour taste. On a lighter note the food dishes, the dinner combination, and waitress service was very good. Personally would rather go somewhere else. read more

Twenty-five dollars for all you can eat sushi, you cannot go wrong with it! Specially when most of their AYCE menu is built up of sushi rolls that usually more than ten dollars per roll. In effect, the food can pay for itself. Their sushi is made to order and tastes seriously good. However, when it's busy, it does take time for your order to get to you. I'm a huge fan of Fujiya, and I've been going here regularly for a long time. To be honest, I only ever get the all you can eat sushi here. I'm a pretty big sushi fan, and I've been to plenty of other places. The sushi here is good. It's not absolutely spectacular, but it's fresh, tasty, and there's a HUGE selection. I found that I absolutely hate the taste of Sea Urchin, but it's nice that at Fujiya you have the option to try it since it comes with the AYCE. It also comes with Calamari and Chicken Teriyaki, both of which are great here. If you're a spicy tuna fan like I am, I highly recommend the Spicy Tuna hand rolls The interior is interesting. They have nice booths, where it looks like traditional Japanese tables that are low to the ground, but they have space underneath the table for your legs where you can sit comfortably. They also have regular booths and regular tables. You're not going to marvel at the interior design or anything, but it's nice. They've also got a sushi bar if you're up for it. The service is sort of hit and miss. There's one waiter there who's usually pretty on the ball, but sometimes you'll get stuck with someone who's a little slow. It's not usually ever bad per se, just slow at times. There's a little button at every table you can press to get the server's attention, but it makes a dinging noise and I feel really selfish using it for some reason, maybe that's why I get slow service sometimes. When I'm with friends who are not shy about it at all, the service is pretty quick. The all you can eat sushi is about $20 for lunch, and I think it's around $25 for dinner but I'm not sure. The rolls are around $13 separately, so if you can eat at least two it's better to go AYCE. Honestly, I don't know how Fujiya stays in business. It's not usually very crowded, and they give out some pretty tasty sushi for an almost unbelievable price. It's definitely one of my favorite places to go, and I'm notorious for ALWAYS bringing it up whenever I'm in a group that is trying to decide on where to get lunch or dinner. I'm really glad a place like this exists in Camarillo, and I keep coming back here as often as my wallet allows. read more

I go here all the time with my girlfriends. It's my favorite place to get sushi in town. The food is great. The prices are relativity cheap. And the staff is really friendly. The two chefs at the bar love to entertain customers. I recommend the Golden Tiger roll or the Golden Philadelphia roll. I have never been disappointed with any of my experiences going. It's been a while since I've gone here, and then I decided sushi 2x in one week would be worth it. However, tonight they charged me more than earlier this week, for the exact same thing. Or so I thought. In fact, they botched up my order tonight (to-go, fyi). It's really not that hard to expect a California roll with avocado on top when the person taking your order repeats it back to you. Except it was a big disappointment. They charged me $10 for cucumber, rice, and avocado. Lesson learned. Don't push my luck on phone orders. Anyway, in general this is a decent place. The sushi chefs are nice, the decor is ok if a little worn and outdated, and the servers are nice enough. (Aside from the guy who completely ignored me tonight, didn't look my way or greet me.) I've never gotten sick from bad fish, or bad ingredients, so that's a plus -- in the 10+ years they've been in existence? And the wait time is at least less than Yama Sushi on Adolfo. Blech. I have never done AYCE, but my friends like it, and it's a fair price. Take this as you will. Bill will run you anywhere from $15 to $40 per person (depending on who rings you up, I guess). On that note, they should really update their system and get a POS, and an official set-up for front of house, then orders don't get botched up like this. read more

The rolls are pretty good, but not the best I have ever had. What I really enjoyed about this place was that our waitress was very helpful and informative and the rolls came out very fast. They are the only place I know in Cam that is all-you-can-eat sushi. It's $23 each which basically pays for 2 rolls, so if you can eat more than it's worth it. You can also order small hand rolls and other things that aren't as filling. read more

Came in for dinner last night and it was completely dead, there was a party of 3 and my bf and I. Hmmm. Not a promising sign. I was tempted to walk out, especially since the place had a very B.O. kind of smell but figured maybe it was just my imagination. The rolls weren't bad. We overindulged and shared 4 rolls. They were a very good size. We ordered the Golden Philadelphia, something with Ahi Tuna, the Jump-Jump and a roll with fried lobster. All very tasty. My bf loves to buy the chefs a beer or sake, we asked our server twice to ask the chef if he'd like anything to drink but I'm not sure the kid understood what we were asking. Oh well. To sum up, not bad but definitely not great and certainly not my in my top 10 for sushi places in Ventura County. Just found out today there's a place across the street at the other shopping center, think I give that place a try. read more

wow..went to eat here last night, got there at 7 p.m exactly. it was 15 minutes before someone even acknowledged us to ask if it was for 2. okay whatever, it was gonna be a 30 minute wait i honestly didnt mind. we were seated in about 20 minutes and it took another 30 MINUTES for someone to actually ask if we wanted anything to drink. keep in mind it wasnt busy whatsoever. by this time its 7:50/8 p.m!?!? and we didnt even order food yet. we waited for another 30 minutes for a different server to come!!!! an hour of waiting at the table just to order food. my bf was getting the all u can eat sushi and i had a regular menu, he ordered 2 rolls and i got salmon which was really good. i was going to ask for a fork and another 30 minutes or more passed before someone even checked on us. we were so tired of the extremely bad service, we wanted to leave so badly. he wanted to order more sushi but the guy was taking so long talking to his friends that he only got a second order and we asked for a box. it was 9:30 when we finally left. 2 1/2 hours of just waiting. i will never come back to this shithole. this restaurant is beyond poorly run. and of course nobody reads these reviews that works there. people kept coming in and leaving bc nobody was helping them whatsoever, no greeting nothing. how sad. they lost so many customers all because the waiters were nowhere to be found. i would be so embarrassed if i had to work here. i posted to my 10,000 instagram followers not to come here. nobody likes this place anyway according to everyone who responded:) read more

Everything was really small and disappointing. Lite on fish, high on mayonnaise. Luke warm and highly questionable. It's been quite awhile since I've eaten here, as my wife and I have found a way better place (customer service/quality) that, even though isn't AYCE, is way worth the $ you pay. I am a foodie and I will easily smash 5 rolls before your very eyes. I've even figured out a way to beat the system by ordering everything I want for the first round, and THESE GUYS got hip to the skip on THAT by taking FOREVER to serve the rest of my rolls after serving 3, hoping I'd be full by the time the rest got there! I had to tell them to get on with the show, that it didn't even take 20 minutes to get my first 3! And if that wasn't enough, these guys were glaring at us the whole time while laughing and speaking Japanese, I suppose. Now, I'm not racist by any means, as I work in the food industry myself, where plenty of diversity walks in through the doors, and I treat everyone with utmost respect. But it seemed to me like these guys were making fun of how much I was ready to devour and getting mad that I was doing it, and for that reason, we haven't been back since. The food is ok, especially for AYCE, but if all you're gonna eat is 3 rolls max with an appetizer, if you're willing to pay a little more, Yomama Sushi is way better. read more

This was easily the nastiest sushi restaurant we have ever been to. When eating all-you-can eat, I don't expect superb fish. However, they served sushi that was so thin that you could see the rice through it. The rice was actually undercooked (how can that happen in a sushi restaurant?) and the soybeans were dirty. I went by myself last week and I ordered 5 rolls and sushi and appetizers. Not really sure what 3 rounds is because it seems to be order and eat all until the lunch or dinner time is over! Best sushi place in town. Very cheap all you can sushi. The rolls are large and delious. Great portion sizes. Super friendly staff especially if you sit at the bar. I came here one time with my dad and my brother for the all-you-can-eat sushi, and we were completely blown away at the price, and at the quality and variety of their all you can eat menu. The all you can eat aspect was fantastic because we didn't have to worry about what each item costs, and we got to try some items we wouldn't normally try. We arrived extremely hungry after a long day's work, and on our first round of ordering, the waitress told us, "You know you have THREE chances of ordering, right?" "We know," my dad responded. It really was funny to see the look on her face when he said that. They were surprised to see us eat so much sushi (we were surprised too), and we felt bad for eating so much throughout our meal, so we left an extra-large tip. The service was really great, and they kept the orders coming as quickly as we could eat them. read more
