Most will consider this a one-off review, which is fine. In summary, do not go here after 2:00 PM for lunch. We knew they closed between 2:30 and 4:00. We arrived about 2:15. We were told the hibachi side was closed, but they were still seating for the sushi side. We reviewed the menu quickly and thought we would be ok. Our waiter asked us to order quickly. We ordered a combination lunch and a hibachi lunch. We asked for the Boston Role to not have mayonnaise with the combination box. And we wanted the steak on the hibachi to be rare. Neither happened. The waiter took forever to come back and check on us. When we told him what was wrong he told us there was nothing he could do as everyone jaded left. And then gave us the bill and asked us to play immediately so he could leave. Grudgingly I did and he really did just take off. We sat for a bit and finally saw the manager / owner. We informed her what happened and although she apologized she wasn't interested in fixing it. She did finally offer our nephew a soda which was nice. But nothing else. So, maybe fine during regular hours. I suggest not visiting after 2;00 PM. Potentially sooner than that if you're having hibachi. My opinion is the hours you're open should be the hours you really seat. They should advertise last seating for hibachi is 1:30 and for sushi is 2:00. We were unfortunately soured on the experience and will likely visit others when we return back to Wisconsin. read more

We made a reservation at 6:30pm foe party of 12. We got here early and that setup the table pretty quick. The restaurant was quite busy and there were about 2 large party including us. We order bunch of foods on the menu including some sushi rolls, sashimi and sushi. The appetizer we order gyoza and some beans. The appetizer came pretty fast. The other sushi came about 30 minutes because i guess they have to 3 orders the same. Fujiyama has been my family's go to sushi place in Brookfield for years. It has been a while since I visited this restaurant due to COVID, but I recently went back for a quick lunch with my family this past week and it has been consistently satisfying. The lunch deals for sushi are unbeatable (usually 11am-230pm). My go-to lunch deals are the Combination Box (which comes with your choice of terriyaki meat/tempura, gyoza, and your choice of spicy tuna or california roll) for $14, any 2 rolls for $12, or any 3 rolls for $14 (if I'm feeling extra hungry). All these deals come with salad, miso soup, AND tea. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls are the best I have ever had. They have a crunch to them that I just love and I haven't found any other spicy tuna/salmon roll that fills my cravings as well as the ones from Fujiyama. I would highly recommend these rolls, but some other favorites are the tempura shrimp and salmon avocado. When it comes to sushi, I am a believer of simpler = better. I have never been one to like fancy specialty sushi rolls. Last time I went, I also ordered the tempura udon noodle soup which hit the spot on a cold Wisconsin day. The broth is flavorful and the tempura was crispy and served hot out of the fryer. If you're looking for a good deal with consistent, sushi rolls, this is the place. Fujiyama is a great, consistent, and tasty Japanese restaurant in Brookfield. This Fujiyama is distinct from the one on hwy 100, they just happen to have the same name and both be Japanese restaurants. I have never once left this Fujiyama unhappy. I have, however left the other one unhappy (because I expected the food to be as good as this location!) The service is friendly, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is nice. Whether you're going for sushi or hibachi (or something else) you really can't go wrong here. They do not have hibachi stations where you can watch the hibachi show, but they do still serve hibachi from their kitchen. And let me tell you, their hibachi is waaaaay better than the other restaurant or any other hibachi I've had before. Their fried rice is literally crack it's so delicious. Besides that, I frequently order their specialty sushi rolls which you can not go wrong with. My family and I hail this Fujiyama as a constant in our lives. It is always consistent with friendly service and great food without having to make a drive to another city. They give you a warm towelette to wipe your hands at the beginning of your meal and a small complimentary plate of fruit at the end of your meal. I think that is just the cherry on the cake! My favorite go-to sushi spot. I literally love 100% of the rolls I have ordered from this place. My wallet may be weeping but my stomach is definitely content. The staff is super nice, courteous, and fast. The restaurant is extremely busy on weekend nights, to the point where we don't feel comfortable dining in just because the restaurant is literally at capacity, but we just order takeout instead. Overall very good experience here. Our waiter was v diligent and misheard my order. When i got my food i said something about one of my rolls being incorrect, but was fine with the outcome. Waiter apologized and 5 minutes later came out with the correct roll for free (see tuna roll pic) what service! Kani salad was super good and pretty large for $5, but had a lot of tempura crunch. Normally I love the crunch, but this was a little much for me. All the sushi we had was delicious and fresh. They also have a good drink menu. I got a lemon drop martini and it was amazing! We love Fujiyama. We have been coming here for years. Some of the freshest sushi in town. They always have great service and are very friendly. Don't be afraid to go off the menu. A good friend and fellow sushi lover kept telling me that I needed to check out this location of Fujiyama. "It's nicer than the one in West Allis!", he insisted. So, one evening he and I, along with a third sushi loving friend, came here for one of our unofficial "Sushi Club" gatherings. This location is smaller than the West Allis location. The darker interior gives it a more upscale vibe. When I went to check in with the hostess, the first thing she asked me was "Do you have a reservation?". A fair question, since it was rather busy that evening. Based on this, I would recommend making a reservation if possible. And now for the most important part: the sushi! This place has some fantastic sushi chefs who really know how to prepare a good meal. The variety of sushi rolls offered here blew my mind. In addition to your more traditional rolls (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc), they have many Signature rolls. The signature rolls are larger, just an FYI. So you will definitely fill up quicker than with the more traditional rolls. I learned this lesson firsthand with my meal: tuna roll, yellowtail roll, Sexy Lady roll, and the BMW roll. By some miracle, I was able to finish most of my meal. Although Fujiyama is known for their sushi, they also have many non sushi options available as well. You can choose from tempura dinners, teriyaki dinners, hibachi dinners, donburi (a rice dish), soups, salads, and appetizers. For those that are looking for a great deal, you'll want to stop in here on a Monday or Tuesday. Many of the rolls are discounted, which would be a great opportunity to try some of their Signature rolls. I must give my friend thanks for introducing me to this place. Not only is it the least expensive I've come across in the 8 years I've lived here, it's also the best tasting. Talk about a win-win. My husband and I frequent this location on Mondays and Tuesdays when they have their 1/2 off specials. Thanks to this fantastic deal, I've tried a wide variety of their maki rolls. The sweet potato, spider roll, spicy salmon, and tuna avocado are my favorites. I've tried a couple of the specialty rolls before as well - they're tasty, but I just tend to like my rolls a little simpler! Service is always quick and friendly. I asked for my steak to be cooked rare, and it was clear they understood me because it was rung in that way since on my receipt and ticket stapled to my bag had hibachi steak - rare printed on it. The steak was so well done and dry I couldn't even get through eating two pieces of it. Many of the veggies were soggy from sitting in a sauce. The fried rice tasted horrendous as well... would've been better asking for just white rice instead. The soup that came with it was essentially just broth and two paper thin pieces of mushrooms. The salad that comes with is fine, lettuce and house dressing. Kani salad is the only reason I could give this review an extra star, minus the fact it had almost all breading and not enough cucumber to the salad so it got mushy halfway through eating it. Ah Whizzzzconsin: home of the cheese curd and endless miles of corn fields..... why get sushi in this state unless it comes out of a Great Lake? That's what I thought too when I came across this gem on Yelp whilst traveling the Green Bay state. And now that I have two years of visits to draw upon I'm ready to write this review: Fujiyama is buried, as many sushi joints tend to be, in a strip mall off of a major commercial by way. When you walk in the chime-laden door you are greeted by the stock aquarium (which I always found as ironic in a sushi restaurant) and a darkened but not unwelcoming dining room, and a staff of English challenged Japanese staff members. I must say that I LOVE going to ethnic restaurants run by the culture of the cuisine.... it's authentic, and additive to the experience. As is always the case I make my way to the bar where several masters artfully create plates and plates of beautifully rendered dishes, and as I wait I start with the edamame bowl and a cup of woefully weak green tea. Now I've been here many times and the tea is a highlight here, usually rich and earthy, though this was hot water at best. I'll chalk that up to a bad batch this time. Refer to the picture-- now let me say I veer towards the cleanest cuts I can get so my array is boring compared to what these guys are putting up at the bar. That said the salmon, which is my favorite, is amazingly fresh and sliced generously atop a small ball of sweet rice. Perfect ratio of fish to rice, and the other cuts are equally presented as such. The roll shown is a salmon skin roll which is also wonderfully constructed with excellent crunch and topped with eel sauce for a sweet counterpart. Warning: out of nowhere you will be startled by a sudden jolt of Japanese "happy birthday" house music with accompanying disco lights when the appropriate customer comes in to celebrate. I can't decide if it's "kitschy" in an anime-hello-kitty kinda vibe, or just annoying, especially as many come here to celebrate birthdays..... I will keep coming here on my Brookfield travels..... its great fish with great presentation and friendly staff members obviously eager to please. read more

If you are ever in the Brookfield suburbs area and love sushi (like I do!) you must stop here. The restaurant is found in a strip mall but it is surprisingly large once you get inside. You can sit at a table, at an actual bar or at the sushi bar. I opted for the sushi bar since that is where you can see all of the magic happen :). I ordered two specialty rolls and one plain spicy tuna (that is my go-to roll as a basis of judgement for the restaurant). All three rolls knocked it out of the park. They were flavorful, fresh and had the right amount of sauce/toppings. My favorite of the three was the pink lady roll. I highly recommend that one if you go! Each of the specialty rolls are about $14, so it's not super cheap but definitely worth it!
