If you are ever in the Brookfield suburbs area and love sushi (like I do!) you must stop here. The restaurant is found in a strip mall but it is surprisingly large once you get inside. You can sit at a table, at an actual bar or at the sushi bar. I opted for the sushi bar since that is where you can see all of the magic happen :). I ordered two specialty rolls and one plain spicy tuna (that is my go-to roll as a basis of judgement for the restaurant). All three rolls knocked it out of the park. They were flavorful, fresh and had the right amount of sauce/toppings. My favorite of the three was the pink lady roll. I highly recommend that one if you go! Each of the specialty rolls are about $14, so it's not super cheap but definitely worth it! Also, we actually got a free crab roll from the sushi chefs behind the bar, which was a very welcome surprise! read more

Went there for a bachelorette lunch (party of 10) the host greeted all of us as we arrived individually. The waiter also came and took our drink orders individually as we arrived. Service was great up until our food came out. Appetizers were served all on time and came out together. We all ordered from the lunch specials so it wouldn't be too complicated since it's mainly all of the same dishes except maybe 2-3 since some of the girls in our group didn't like to eat sushi. They order lunch bento boxes. Food itself was great but the way our courses came out all at a different time was a bit awkward. Some of received our food and some of us waited longer or until the end AFTER we had to run down the host who was standing at the bar talking to a manager (totally ignoring us as we tried to say "excuse me"a few times. One of the girl had to go up and stand there and wait until they finally asled they could help us) and ask where two of our final dishes were. She came back and told us that it's being made fresh so it's taking longer than the sushi/sashimi offers. Which i would agree with if it was something such as chicken or pork but the last couple of orders were veggie and shrimp tempura and it takes less than 5 minutes to cook. Anyway, everyone else was basically done eating as the final veggie & shrimp tempura boxes came out. Would give a 4-4.5 star but they honestly forgot our last two orders and didn't apologize for the wait whatsoever. read more

I found this place based upon a variety of reviews. I was in the area from Chicago for a two day photoshoot, and wanted sushi close to our hotel. Despite its unassuming façade, the food and drink were superb. So superb that I returned again on night #2, as nothing else in the area tripped my trigger. Fujiyama is a good sushi joint but a little on the pricey side. Staff has a lukewarm personality and service was underwhelming.

I think I like this location better than the one on Hwy 100. It's smaller, (somewhat) quieter and the food is just as good. We had heard they have good sushi specials on Monday & Tuesday and stopped to check it out. First - the sushi specials are no secret - it's a small place and gets very crowded so come early or be prepared to wait. Second - it doesn't look like it's really "half price" but many rolls are discounted by a few dollars. Even if you don't make it on M-Tu, they offer "happy hour" prices on many rolls during the week. There are also specials on drinks and bites, so it might be a nice place to hang for a few drinks if you're not too hungry. Third - despite the crowd, the sushi guys were hustling as were the servers. Our stuff came out fairly quickly and drinks were consistently replenished. No complaints on service. Fourth - the sushi was pretty good. Not the greatest or most creative, but I wasn't paying those prices. My overall complaint about Fujiyama (both locations) is that the rolls are too large and loosely rolled. It's hard to eat a piece in one bite and many times it just falls apart. That said, there was plenty of "stuff" in the rolls and not just rice. This Fujiyama location is a solid performer and a good go-to for a sushi date on a budget. read more

I tried a new sushi place for dinner last night. Well it wasn't exactly new, just a location that I hadn't been to before. Looking over the menu didn't offer me any level of confirmation that this would be a good experience; they had absolutely NO pictures of their food. I don't know about you but I definitely eat with my eyes so it was a bit disappointing that I only had descriptions to go off of. I was adventurous and ordered the Love Boat For Two $54.95- 16 pieces sashimi(tuna, salmon, yellowtail, whitefish), 12 pieces sushi (shrimp, salmon, whitefish, yellowtail, tuna), 1 Dragon roll (eel, cucumber, avocado wrapped in seaweed and rice), 1 California roll (crabmeat, avocado, and cucumber wrapped in seaweed and rice), and 1 Tuna roll (tuna and cucumber wrapped in seaweed and rice). It also comes with soup and salad for 2. The soup and salad was delicious as always and the majority of the boat was delightful. The sashimi was cut a little too thick for me to indulge. As a matter of fact, I have it in the fridge and I will be cooking it and eating with a salad. lol The Dragon roll, California roll, and the shrimp pieces are sushi standards for me but the whitefish sushi and the tuna roll were awesome surprises! I haven't decided if I would order this again but will definitely continue going to both locations and I am definitely glad I ventured out of my comfort zone. Service was outstanding as always! I've never had such jumbo-sized sushi in my life. The sushi here is HUGE. And pretty delicious. Lunch specials are great. I had the bento box, you get to pick what you want in your box. Green tea is free. They have special prices for sushi rolls on Monday and Tuesday, they also have happy hour prices. The sushi here isn't too authentic, lots of fake rolls, but nevertheless, delicious. read more

I stopped in at Fujiyama on a Sunday afternoon at 3:30PM for some early-dinner/late-lunch sushi. I had just moved into the area, and had been meaning to try this place out. There were only 3 or so other tables occupied, and we were immediately seated and had an order in within 10 minutes. A short time later, our four rolls were served. We ordered two common rolls (a Philadelphia and a Spider) and two "Specialty" rolls off of a separate menu (a "2012" roll and a "BMW"). All rolls were delicious and presented beautifully, but the specialty rolls out-shined the others by far. The Spider roll has always been a favorite of mine, but I will not get it again when I have the option of one of the specialty rolls! Highly recommended. All in all, the sushi quality was very solid for what I'd expect from this area, and very reasonably priced. The Philadelphia was $5.50, the Spider $8.00, and the specialty rolls were $13 and $16 (WELL worth it for their size and contents). The service was evenly paced (We didn't feel rushed at all), and our waitress was extremely accommodating. She even brought us a small dessert of fruit and creme to share at the end of our meal (we didn't order it... we're not sure if this is standard practice or not). I'd also like to note that other reviews have indicated the noise level at "loud". I didn't think so. The sound of the Chefs making sushi was present, but not obnoxious, and the overall noise level of the restaurant was very normal, I thought. The only time that it seemed loud was when they sang someone happy birthday (complete with sparkling candle, balloon hat, and Polaroid!), which was brief and humorous. The girls that work there are friendly and service is always great. Servers kept forcefully telling us we needed to order more food. We know how much food we want, you don't need to keep encouraging us to order food. The service wasn't that good, and neither was the food really. My boyfriend and I have tried many sushi places and this was worse than grocery store sushi I've had. We gave a 10% tip because we were disappointed. And after we walked out of the restaurants, the worker came out and tried to ask for more tip money. It was beyond rude. We don't live near Fujiyama, so we're not regulars. The last time we were here was July 2018. But yesterday after seeing the great Captain Marvel movie in New Berlin, we decided to detour through Brookfield. Big mistake. The menu was all different from the last time we were here. But we took a shot on a pork teriyaki and tofu teriyaki entree. (Sorry, but we've never gotten used to the idea of Sushi 1,800 miles from the ocean. And yes, we know they have airplanes. But, man, the carbon footprint.) The Miso soup and small salad that came with the dinners were fine. But the entrees were god-awful. They consisted of a small bowl of not-great sticky rice, a pile of either grilled pork or large pieces of breaded soft tofu sitting on a small pile of what looked like packaged frozen vegetables. And all of that was covered with a brown, thick sauce that tasted mostly of sweetness. We could have gotten the same basic entree in the freezer section of Trader Joe's for about $4.99. But we paid $15.99 each, plus $4.75 each for Kirin bottled beers. $50 later with tip - the service was fine BTW - and we're done forever with "New Fujiyama" (what it's now called on the credit card receipt). All we can figure is they've sold this place to "new" owners who are looking for bigger profits, and who have no idea how to do Japanese food. Very sad. read more

Yummy dinner! I'll be back. Atmosphere: For seating they have booths and seating at the sushi bar, or separate bar area with a TV. It's a bit dark but I like the feel of this place. Food: I always start with my standard seaweed & house salad. The ginger dressing is awesome. I got the Alaskan roll with fish eggs added. I love the my rice to other stuff ratio. (I very much dislike rice heavy rolls) Also had the spicy scallop, sooo good. It's spicy and has tempura flakes in it, amazing, never had it before, but I'll order 10 next time! Overall, I was very pleased with my experience at Fujiyama! First off, I would never guess this place is as spacious from the outside. The inside is beautiful! We ordered miso soup, seaweed salads, and three specialty rolls. All were fantastic and displayed to perfection! We topped off the night with a green tea ice cream - delicious! Our server was quote the gentleman - friendly, professional, and displaying good manners. Finally, I think it's worth noting the portion sizes were substantially more than I would have expected. Went here for the half price rolls on a Tuesday for lunch. My boyfriend and I have very picky tastes about sushi and are partial to another sushi restaurant in town. I was skeptical of this place but figured we'd try it since it was close to work and half price. The rolls are almost half price. They have a monday and tuesday lunch menu that has the pricing for the rolls and other specials on it. The prices were still less than normal but not quite half price. (ex: 14.99 roll was 8.50) We ordered 4 rolls to share. The server was very nice and attentive. The place was moderately busy but they seamed adequately staffed and we only waited about 7-10 minutes for our rolls to be made. The rolls were really good! They had a great texture and the sauces really made it for me. Each one was unique and the presentation was beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised that Fujiyama matched my favorite sushi place. We had plenty of sushi for 2 people and actually ended up taking about 1/3 of it home. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick sushi lunch on a Monday or Tuesday. read more

Wow. This was GREAT! I can be picky about service and I was very happy with the service here. The sushi rolls are delicious and beautifully presented. Their ginger salad dressing is INSANELY amazing. I didn't care for the soup, but that was just a personal preference thing. I don't know why but I love big red wine glasses, but I do, and I love when restaurants have them. They do that here! I've been to the Fujiyama in West Allis for all you can eat and thought it was ok. Service there wasn't great. I decided to try out the Fujiyama in Brookfield, and I'm so glad I did. Service was excellent, everyone was very kind and our sushi came out very quickly. I always expect to wait forever and didn't have to hear. I shared the sushi trio with my date and it was a perfect way to get a taste of several different fish. Yellowtail is my favorite and it was excellent here. I also tried the Brookfield roll which was super tasty and a must try. I really enjoyed Fujiyama and thought the pricing was right on par. First time at this restaurant had a reservation thank God the place was full but the wait wasn't long the waiter was very nice and took our drinks right away when she took our order we forgot to inform her that a two of us didn't eat mushroom so when our cook came and put them on the grill we informed him ask if he could cook them separate he got angry put it back on the tray and came back without the mushrooms we told him he didn't have to do that because there were other people that wanted them he said if one doesn't want no one wants he cooked our food didn't show any kind of hospitality and left the cook at the joining table was so nice to us he entertained us and the table he was working at we wanted to give him our tip but they share I would definitely go back the food was very good but if we got that cook again I would ask for another one. read more

Had a taste for Japanese food while out on a business trip. I sat at the sushi bar and three shops are pretty busy all night. I opted for the chicken teriyaki with salad and miso soup. Salad had a nice gingery dressing and the miso soup was very good. Chicken teriyaki was pretty good, the sauce was very sweet - lots of honey. The portion was absolutely huge, I think it was either one very large chicken breast or two medium chicken breasts. When I left the restaurant was very full at 7 PM. I looked at other diners plates... The sushi platters looked awesome! read more

I love this place! We've been here a handful of times now and we haven't been disappointed. This is a small restaurant in a strip mall, so keep your eyes open when you're looking for it! Come early, enjoy take-out or call and make a reservation. The service and food are great. We love to come here because I really enjoy sushi, while my boyfriend would eat almost anything but sushi. With such a large menu with a large variety, Fujiyama can accommodate me (the sushi lover) and Josh! Before you order drinks, the waitress comes over and brings you a hot wet wipe. I got two specialty rolls and Josh got chicken fried rice. If you don't know what you'd like to order, our waitress was great with suggesting some of her favorites. I had the fantastic roll and the tuna amazing roll. Both were very fresh and had a lot of fish inside. Josh loved his chicken fried rice - he said that the chicken was great because it wasn't fried. After you're finished with your meal, they bring you "dessert," complimentary on the house fruit! read more

The Half of nights are great. We love trying different rolls at that price point. It's clean, delicious and the staff is always friendly.

No better place for lunch in the area. The Maki lunch special on the weekdays is something my coworkers and I used to get every other week. Three maki rolls, a salad and soup for 13 bucks is hard to beat and it always comes out quickly to so you can squeeze it in for a quick lunch. If you sit at the sushi bar, they will give you a crab salad too which is always delicious. They have a lot of barriers up in the restaurant now to help with Covid so it felt like a safe place to eat. read more

For a sushi chain I'm typically fairly happy with Fujiyama. I met a friend for sushi here on a Friday night and we were seated immediately. Overall, the food was good but everything else was subpar. I ordered a Milwaukee roll and a Spicy roll. The Milwaukee roll was good, flavorful and fresh. The Spicy roll wasn't as spicy as I wanted but it wasn't bad. It was tasty and filling. The food was also prepared very quickly which is always super nice when you're getting sushi. Our service wasn't very great. Our waiter took our order and brought our food and that's about it. We were there for about an hour and a half and we were kicked out! The lady that kicked us out said they had a reservation and they needed a table for four but there were at least five other tables that could sit four so it was a little odd. Overall, I would probably not recommend this location. In general, like I said, Fujiyama is normally pretty good but this location just wasn't great. I'd take the extra travel time and go to the West Allis location or another sushi place all together. read more

I have only been to this location twice but I was happy both times. Not only am I not adventurous, but there are certain things I can't eat for health reasons. There are so many things on this menu I'm able to eat (and bites of my friends food that I loved), I have to go back to keep exploring. The food is superbly made and comes out simply gorgeous. They pay special attention to detail and on my most recent visit, even brought my friend an ice cream bowl with a candle for her birthday. I love you, Fujiyama! Prompt and friendly service!! The sushi is SO good! We are always seated promptly and offered the warm towelette to wipe our hands--great detail! I always start with a glass of cab and they serve the big gulps! Love! Then I have a house salad and miso soup. The house salad's dressing is that amazing ginger dressing that you could just drink it's so good! I had a spicy tuna roll and futo maki roll. I'm always a little hungry still, but couldn't eat a whole roll without feeling stuffed, so I usually have a couple of bites of my husband's hibachi chicken, which is so flavorful. This is one of the top sushi places in the Midwest. We have been here over a dozen times and not once did we have a bad meal or bad service. The kids box meal is great for the younger ones - it keeps the food separate. And for the non-sushi crowd they have hibachi dishes prepared in the kitchen. The sushi combinations are fantastic. The rainbow roll is a great way to start. They also have a full range of Saki. No need to drive into Milwaukee. It is small- so get there early or call ahead for larger groups. read more
