The MKE roll is not to be confused with the Milwaukee roll, it's a California roll with cream cheese and crunch. I liked the badger crunch roll but did not realize it would come with so much crunch on top, I would have preferred fresh salmon on top. The packers roll was good and had a strong smoked salmon flavor. My friend enjoyed their volcano scallops roll and it had an awesome presentation! read more

It's located right across barnes&noble. So it was perfect to get in after walking around. Not much food option in this mall. I got the bibimbap. It came in hot stone bowl, so beware it's hot. It's a set and came with a side of salad and miso soup. I didn't really care for the salad but the miso soup was warm and comforting. Everything in the bibimbap was yummy. Second time going to this location. Always really love the service you get here. It's also quiet and clean. I remember the sushi being a bit better. Sauced, sliced, etc. The California roll and spicy salmon were underwhelming and didn't have much flavor to them. Next to no spicy mayo or any other kind of flavor enhancer. I will say though, large portion sizes as the classic rolls came with 8 pcs each. They also had a special menu on Monday with great prices. I opted for the lunch though because I wanted a salad. This sushi lounge is conveniently located in the Brookfield Square mall. There's never much of a wait to get seated and the server takes my order expeditiously. I've been here a couple times and prefer the sushi over any of the other menu items. The beef bibimbap was not very flavorful and relied too heavily on the gochujang to carry the meal. read more

This was my choice for my new restaurant of the week thing that I have been doing forever. It's in the Brookfield square mall with its own space and a street entrance so you never have to enter the mall. The place is modern looking and spacious with hi ceilings. They have booth, hi tables and bar seating . I would sit at the bar and have a fancy cocktail, not my normal drink of choice which was the black orchid that was hand shaken. The black orchid was sweet, refreshing and absolutely delicious. I was going to do my ala carte thing and try a few items, actually my favorites. I would have the 4 piece Las Vegas roll, fried calamari and the shumai which is steamed shrimp dumplings. First off the presentation of the dished was awesome. I started with the fried calamari which came with a spicy aioli sauce which was good but not spicy to me. The fried calamari was delicious with a light crispy tempura batter and cooked perfectly. The Las Vegas roll was also delicious with spicy crabmeat and avocado topped with salmon and creamy sauce. The shumai looked a little disappointing for a steamed dumpling because they were so tiny but you got 8 pieces which was ok. The shumai was so delicious and I'm stealing this trick, they put like a drop of sesame seed oil on them which gives the shrimp dumplings a woodsy/nutty layer of flavor. Overall this was a great leisurely lunch with great food and drinks for sure. I would definitely go back for more of the menu. read more

Ordered delivery (via Grubhub) from Wasabi recently and was pleased! I ordered their M-K-E Combo, which is their badger crunch roll, packers roll, and M-K-E roll. I thought the three rolls were the extent of what I ordered but was pleased when my order arrived to include a side salad and miso soup. The salad was fresh and crisp and came with a refreshing and delicious dressing. The miso soup was hot and flavorful. Onto the rolls! The badger crunch roll consisted of shrimp tempura and avocado with spicy crunch and topped with spicy mayo. It was quite good! The Packers roll has smoked salmon, avocado, and is topped with seared salmon, spicy mayo, and a creamy sauce. It was my least favorite of the three rolls and I think I discovered that I just don't like smoked salmon in my sushi rolls. And, finally, the pièce de résistance was the Mke roll. It was a delicious combo of salmon, tuna, avocado, cream cheese and was topped with spicy tuna, lettuce, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and wasabi mayo, and is served deep fried in panko batter. Honestly, from the ingredients, I wouldn't have even thought I'd like it. I typically steer entirely clear of any rolls with cream cheese and am not over fond of fried rolls. But, lemme tell ya--they know what they're doing because that roll was hands down my favorite with all the flavors combining perfectly. Great sushi! I find the tuna and salmon are always fresh and that is hard to find around Brookfield. Every roll is made deliciously, and the kitchen food is delicious too! Went for two meals. This is attached to the mall, do not let that deter you. I personally loved the location because I got to go to Barnes and Nobles and got to walk off the meal afterwards. I would definitely go back again. I went during lunch one day and during dinner for the other. Ordered the same Wasabi meal (one was the lunch combo and the other dinner) only difference was the increase in dinner price. All the fish seemed quite fresh and had that sweet/clean taste. I'd say the chef during lunch did an excellent job with his cuts on the nigiri and overall presentation (picture with the rectangular plate and flower in the middle). Price was reasonable for the meal and I really enjoyed the honey ginger tea both times. Service was quick and staff seemed friendly to me. This is a sushi restaurant pretty much just like others that is attempting to be "high end" while serving the exact same stuff as other more reasonably priced sushi restaurants at a bit of a higher price tag with a nicer dining room look. I actually think that Wasabi tricks you into thinking it must be better than others because of their look and their prices, but the reality is that other sushi restaurants like Fujiyama just down the street are better in quality, taste, and service. I ordered the MKE combo for takeout. There are several rolls listed in their combos which are not explained anywhere else on the menu, so I had to ask the employee over the phone what was in several rolls. You could tell that the employee was pondering why I had to ask when the rolls are all listed on the menu - but the 5 spice roll, the MKE roll, and the spicy crunch roll (all part of combos) are actually not listed or explained anywhere else on the menu. When I went to pick up my food, the employee gave me my bag and I asked if there was soy sauce in the bag. She said yes in such a quick and confident way that made me assume that she had put the soy sauce into the bag herself just a second ago. I asked this because I wasn't sure if I had any soy sauce at home and I can't eat sushi without soy sauce. When I got home I was unhappy to find out that there was in fact no soy sauce included in the bag (which was sealed shut tight). No problem if they made a mistake, but I literally asked and the employee said yes. If you're not sure - check! Next were the rolls themselves. They didn't taste fresh, the quality didn't seem to be that great, and the rolls even looked like I could've gotten them from a grocery store. Honestly, it was like eating grocery store sushi - disappointing, especially for the price. I ended up not even finishing my food. About an hour after I ate I had a weird uneasy feeling in my stomach. I don't need to get into details but the rest of the night wasn't fun with a couple trips to the bathroom and intense stomach pain/cramping. I won't be going to Wasabi again in the future. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to family and friends. I would however recommend Fujiyama on Bluemound in Brookfield (down the road). Go there instead! read more

What? Why is this my first time here?!? I'm already planning my next meal here! It's seriously that good! Ok, so it's not very often you get the opportunity to try Otoro and they had it for tuna, salmon and yellowtail! I was in heaven. The fish was so delicious and it just melted in your mouth. Portion for the price was much appreciated!! So thanks wasabi! The service was friendly and not intrusive. I docked a star because our table and booth seats had food on them still and it was not busy. Otherwise this place would have easily been 5 stars for me! Everything about the food was delicious. Wasabi's Sashimi and Sushi are world class. This visit did not disappoint. We have been dining regularly at Wasabi for years, it is on our list of favorite restaurants in the Milwaukee area. The food is very fresh and the portion sizes are incredible, not like other places where portions are small. The Wasabi roll is still the best ever, but they are all great, you can't go wrong. The service was and is very thoughtful and awesome. the receptionist actually came to find us in the mall to tell us our table was ready and Nathan our server was great!! You could tell he was new and being coached, but really did a good job of respecting our need for privacy while being very attentive. I've read some reviews where unreasonably picky and rude customers made some comments about service, you know these people .... very very needed unreadable and negative. I can tell you the service at Wasabi has always been first rate, as good as any 5 star or Michelin star restaurant in any country we dinned at. Greeted by the hostess and taken to an appropriate table where she removed the correct chair, you see, my son utilizes a wheelchair and needs a space to slide in without hitting table legs. To have someone be so aware and spot on WITHOUT having to be asked/told was a fantastic first impression. Two of our party ordered dinners of mixed sushi and sashimi. Two of us ordered $150+ in rolls. The food was very good. The server was spot on. My only criticism is that any other sushi restaurant we've been to when we order a hundred dollars in rolls give each person a soup and salad. They also have a good variety of Asian food. I thought it was only service mostly sushi and Japanese American themed food but they also serve Korean and other asian dishes. I tried the Gyoza and miso soup for appetizers and the Packers sushi roll. For a drink I tried The Layover, it was yummy, and for dessert I tried the red bean mochi ice cream. I also got a taste of the mango and strawberry mochi. I thought the read bean was pretty good. It was more ice creamy with a red bean flavor rather than red beany red bean turned ice cream. I still think it was pretty tasty and a good portion for the price. There was no waiting since it was on a Sunday early evening. Waiting for the food was not bad. This is hands down my FAVORITE restaurant!! I absolutely LOVE the crispy rice tuna tartare with jalapeños It's on the appetizer menu and you only get 4, but it's the BEST! I hate to say it but we've had back-to-back experiences that were not that great. I've always felt that Wasabi was the best sushi in the area but recently we ordered King Salmon sushi and they mistakenly brought us smoked salmon. This happened again yesterday but to make matters worse, they brought us frozen King Salmon. The waitress was speechless and I don't feel like I'm going to be back there anytime soon. First time here. We all got the Tonkatsu ramen it was good but not the best I've had to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I finished the whole bowl! It was good. A solid spot for sushi! Their rolls are super fresh and tasty. They have a great variety of classic rolls as well as signature rolls with fun ingredients and great sauces. We are big fans of the Wasabi Roll, the Crunch Roll (with added spicy mayo), and the Bahama Mama. I like the new location, much more convenient. I've only eaten at the original one maybe 4 times from the moment they opened. It's the only place without going downtown to get Korean food at a restaurant. I'm not a huge fan of their rolls. Mind you I haven't tried them all here but I find them tasteless.
