    Sushi Dinner
    Carmen S.

This is a mid level Chinese place with higher level prices. Pork dumplings - tasted exactly like the frozen ones I eat often at home. Chicken on a stick - had an odd and slightly off putting taste. It also took forever to make. Not what one would expect when you order a chicken on a stick. Sushi Diner - A complete miss. The sushi roll was oversized. The sushi rice was off, it wasn't sticky and the wrong grain, the fish was cut wrong. Every piece except the eel, was tough and stringy. The sweet and sour pork was decent but a few pieces, the chicken looked like it had been cut with a butter knife. The food took ages to make. The waitress kept apologizing and saying that the guy making the sushi was struggling. He couldn't get the rolls right. Her words and we saw the evidence in the delivered product. Maybe we went on an off night? But the ratings for this place did not match what we got.

We stopped by Fulin's Asian Cuisine today about 12:45. The restaurant was 50%full. It was dark inside. I had trouble reading the menu. We looked at the menu and decided to place a to go order. I had the chicken lettuce wrap, hubs had a chicken, beef and shrimp lunch special with brown rice and a spring roll and a large order of wonton soup. Our foods were prepared quickly and brought out to us. When we arrived home, our foods were still pretty hot. My chicken lettuce cups were excellent. The dish was not too salty. Hubs lunch special was great he said. I didn't try his food because I do not care for shrimp. He said his food was not salty. He enjoyed his spring roll and the wonton soup. This was our first visit to Fulin's and we will return.

I really enjoy the sushi at this place. The tuna is fresh and tasty, and the rice is fragrant. The restaurant is clean and inviting. The staff is friendly and efficient. I will recommend this place to my friends.

A little miso and some salad with the lunch specials.

I came here for an impromptu lunch and was happy with the food and the service. The sashimi lunch special was a good value for the cost. I was happy with everything. I really appreciated the friendly service above all.

Nice reasonable service, extensive menu, lots of gluten free options. Fulin's is a great place to try for a mix of Asian cuisine. Our waitress was amazing. The food was outstanding. I really couldn't have asked for better gluten free and low gluten options. You have to try them if you're up on 72.

Grabbed carry out from here for lunch today because I wanted to try a new place. I placed my order through their online ordering system, which is convenient but not super user-friendly, in my opinion. I figured it out quickly enough, but it was a bit of a process. My food was ready when I arrived and the hostess and bartender that directed me and passed my food off to me were both quite pleasant. We ordered General Tso's chicken and curry chicken. The General Tso's got super mushy on the way home, steaming in its container, but I don't really hold that against them. It was generic but had an okay flavor. Wish there had been some more veggies. Unfortunately, the curry chicken was a monumental let-down. I chose it because I'd seen so many positive reviews of what people described as "red curry chicken." When I placed my order, this was the only curry dish on the menu, labeled "curry chicken," so I figured the red was just a descriptor given by readers and that's what I'd come home with. Not so; I don't know if the red curry was taken off the menu or if I didn't see it somehow or what, but I was given chicken in a distinctly greenish colored curry. Okay, no problem, user error on my part, I suppose, and I like green curry too so this is fine. Well...it would've been...except my meal was so, so, so, SO bland. I don't think I've ever had bland curry in my life until now, but this one was. The curry itself was also on the thin side, the chicken was chewy, and the bell peppers weren't cooked enough for my preference. My main complaint is the total lack of flavor, though. Wow. No spice, no saltiness, very minimal sweetness, just a touch of herbs but only in an aromatic way. All in all, a very disappointing shame.

We'd never heard of it and having recently returned from the gulf I was feeling rather smug about seafood. What could this Chuck know about it all? Feeling adventurous, we decided to walk over and check it out after eating an entire pizza. Pizza was pretty good. Chuck's Fish was epic. I love that there's no TV at the bar. I love the decor. I love the fact that the namesake was a civil rights attorney. I love the fact that I can get incredible sashimi and order our daughter a pizza that is just as good as the joint across the street. Chuck I apologize. I promised the bar staff I'd Yelp you up after the first visit but once bitten twice shy so I gave it another go. I'm at your bar now. Trudy is helping me out. She's a pro. The decor in here is absolutely beautiful. Our server Stephanie was the sweetest ever. She gave us recommendations and helped us navigate choices on the menu. I opted for a glass of their rosé while he got their old fashioned, wasn't his favorite since they did not have Buffalo Trace. He's not a fan of Bulleit. However he was alright with it. We got the Cowboy sushi roll and snapper necks as appetizers. Both very flavorful and cooked well. Having Louisiana hot sauce was the icing on the cake for him. Entrees we got were both mainly red snapper, he got it Parmesan crusted and I went for bronzed because it came with mango salsa over rice pilaf. He had risotto. Both dishes were very good, however they definitely could have benefited from a bit more salt (in our opinion). Green beans were cooked extremely well. We both cleaned our plates! As for desserts I went for the bread pudding and he opted for the creme brûlée since he had never had any. Bread pudding was absolutely immaculate and I'm glad Steph talked me into adding ice cream. He wished he had gotten my dessert after trying it but his creme brûlée was still pretty decent. Not a big custard guy. Overall this was a great experience and to help others gauge their bill, we spend a little under $200 before the tip. Not extremely cheap but not overly expensive. We just like trying it all - drinks, apps, entrees and desserts. Would love to come back soon!

People started mentioning Miso Happy to me a solid year and a half before I finally went. Then it was a... Tsunami. I've always brought no less than 4 people and thrice now there's been groups of teens on tatami mats and gallons of boba. I think what makes Miso Happy is it's ability to be approachable but also fairly authentic in its offerings. This building was... something else. This restaurant used to be called Edo, like the old world Japanese capital and a ton of American Japanese steakhouse across the nation. It looks like a traditional sukiya-zukuri which really has a casual but refined "vibe"... Great for friends and family alike. If you have a group, there's tatami and seiza setting --be advised: drop your shoes and your butt closer to the floor. There's also an embrace of this anime wave as Totoro motif that somehow fits. The staff is inviting and works to accommodate changes as they come up. Now I haven't tried every sushi roll in the place yet but it's reliably fresh and tasty. There's no euphoric or transcendent experience to be had as far as I've experienced BUT... They don't miss, either. There's also donburi and hibachi, bento boxes and lots of "comfortable" dishes to make everybody feel at home. And then there's the ramen. It's among the best in Huntsville... and that's considering even some favorite ramenya in town like Kamado and new comers like Kyuramen. The broths are distinguishable, deeply flavored and has something for just about everyone: shoyu, tonkatsu, beef and veggje/miso options in deep tetsu bowls with a really nice aesthetic. I tried the big wave poke bowl last time and they're also satisfying... Further pushing the idea that Miso Happy is a great Japanese generalist in town. The beef bulgogi that I cooked was okay... I've had better elsewhere, but maybe that's because I'm not a very good cook and may have grilled it too long. The lemon chicken was also ok, but I probably cooked too long and I only ate a couple of pieces because server warned me I should use scissors to cut chicken to make sure it gets cooked enough inside, and, well... I got to feeling anxious about if I was undercooking or overcooking it, so I gave up. The salad was meh, and I didn't like the look of the cucumbers (they looked brownish, not fresh) so left them untouched. At first, I thought the restaurant itself looked nice... but then I noticed that the tables and floors were not the cleanest, and walking back to the restrooms, I passed a kitchen or prep area that had several puddles of water on the floor. It did not help me feel comfortable. It's a large restaurant, but there were only a few patrons inside during the height of rush hour. I should have been more observant before I sat down. Overall, I really wanted to like the place and a positive is that the Korean music videos on the TVs were very enjoyable, but unfortunately once I got to feeling "ick", I just couldn't shake that feeling. Once again, that's probably more a reflection upon me as someone who does not enjoy cooking, even at home, so please take this review with a grain of salt.
