Everything is made fresh. Who ever sources their shrimp provide some of THE very tastiest, and delicious, their H I ng Kong Shrimp dumpling soup is so good. Their vegetable dishes just eggplant and mushroom in sauce are really special. Nothing I ng is too salty or MSGed to death. Even the regular little shrimp rolls are well prepared. Let me preface by saying I've eaten takeout lunch at several Chinese restaurants in Richmond and Full Kee is now my lowest rated by far. I ordered their sweet and sour chicken ($18.95) and pan fried dumplings (Only 3 small dumplings for $6). The chicken wasn't your usual tempura fried chicken bites but cut piece of chicken breast in strips. The meat was tough and lacked flavor. I had to drown it in sweet and sour sauce just to make it edible. This was my first and LAST time eating at this restaurant. I paid $25 for food that should've cost half that much. read more

I went here for father day and it was quite busy. I waited about an hour to get seated for the Dim Sum cart. Food cart was good, but there were only two carts rotating at a time. Carts came around to each table in roughly five minutes. The price per portion was a little high. It was roughly ~100 total for three people. Staff was very nice, but service was a little slow due to it being quite busy. This is the only dim sum place to my knowledge in the Richmond area. I'm a little spoiled by North East dim sum and those were the only dishes I ate here. This place is just alright. I came here for midweek lunch so I know it's not the authentic fresh cart experience. Some dishes were pretty solid like the spare ribs, beef tripe, and shrimp dumpling (har gow). Some were just okay (shrimp crepe/cheung fun). But overall for the area, I expected as much. The service was quite slow despite it being a mostly empty restaurant. To be fair there were only two people working the whole front of house. I probably would have gotten better service if I spoke Cantonese. Both servers spoke it and so did some patrons. At least it's true dim sum in that sense. It's a small mom and pop operation that could use a bit of updating. But if you're a true Chinese restaurant aficionado, the ambiance is typical. Authentic cantonese with the duck hanging from the window and charsui pork.. reminds me of Chinatown. This place may look small but their food is fit for a family or even a large group of 16. So we went for our usual favorite.. This would be our top pick of the restaurant. We had the Hong Kong style combination pan fried noodle. I was ecstatic because I love the crunch and the mixture of sauce blended with the thinly crisp egg noodle. The sauce was a winner and complimented with the perfectly cooked scallops, squid, chicken, shrimp, pork and veggies in the dish. The fried rice was good, we've had better but it was cooked just right. The bean curd with shrimp mousse with some black bean sauce was my second winning choice. We were bummed they ran out of the eggplant with shrimp mousse, but i could only imagine how great it would've tasted. We had a other dishes like the general tso. It was next to being amazingly good. My kids considered there general tso their favorite and I wouldn't object. All there food tasted great.. the szechuan beef was ok..but not spicy at all like I would assume. The general tso came out crispy even with the sauce, and not soggy like ive had in some other restaurants. For Henrico, Va this place is the best chinese spot to visit. Cute spot in Richmond where there aren't many authentic asian spots to the begin with however very unimpressed by the dim sum here - the food takes forever to come out and when it does it runs out quick. Since I was the only person in the group who can legitimately say whether it's good or not and, be in the right to judge, I was prepared to pick apart this place. I spent my meal in mostly silence. Steamed Shrimp roll - Tasty and juicy with some kick - I don't know why this was spicy to me. Steamed Shui Mai - Larger than what I'm accustomed to, very nicely moist. Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean - All the flavors were there and then some. Eggplant with fish paste - Slightly blander than I'm accustomed to, but would still order either way. Came in on a Saturday morning for dim sum. I love a good dim sum but this is not it. There were two dim sum carts going around and the food was all cold- even the food that we ordered to be made in the kitchen. I felt like we were ignored by the two carts for awhile before I grabbed their attention and then they never came back to our table again. That being said, the flavor of the dumplings and shumai weren't bad. It's the only dim sum spot in Richmond so I'll go here only if I desperately need to satiate my dumpling craving, otherwise I'd wait til I drive to DC for dim sum. read more

Service is slow. Come at 11am or 12:30pm, not in between and expect to stand in line. We arrived at 11am and doors opened at 11:10 and we waited for another 10-15 to get seated. No sense of urgency, so enjoy your brunch with a side of patience. Carts and selection is limited. The baked fare comes around first - grab dessert for later and wait for your main course. Ordering from the menu is one way to get food quicker and hot. Most of the cart food was a lot of bread with little substance. Bathrooms were ok for first opening. No soap. read more

Just to note, my friends and I arrived for lunch right before 2 PM, so it's understandable that the food may not be the freshest. Prime dim sum time is between 11 AM and 12 PM! Overall, as we saw the cart ladies come around (there were only two!), we thought the options were pretty limited and food looked pretty old (like the made it a couple hours ago). We were given jasmine tea to complement our meal, which is a solid choice. I would prefer chrysanthemum tea, but jasmine hit the spot. The food we got and our thoughts: * Sichuan style green beans: While it was crunchy and flavorful, it was extremely cold. Seems like they made it a few hours ago and no one else wanted it. We needed more fiber in our diet, so we took it! This was $8.95 by the way, and probably not worth it. * Radish cake: It looked sad - the top layer is usually crispy, but it was just soggy looking. However, it tasted good (flavor lacking a bit). Overall, solid texture as it was soft and melted in your mouth the more you chew. We would recommend this. * Beef tripe: Extremely tasty! We got a few of these because we really enjoyed it! * Shrimp dumplings (Ha gow): Flavor wasn't bad, but extremely sticky. The wrapper stuck to the steamer when we tried to pick it up so it broke apart. * Shu mai: This was one of the better options. Flavorful, fresh, and hot when we got it so we had to order another one! * Shrimp crepe (Ha cheung): This was... interesting. I've never had cold/lukewarm ha cheung before, and we were all surprised since the server said this was just made. The crepe wasn't very smooth, more on the starchy side. The shrimp was OK but this dim sum was saved by the delicious soy sauce that complemented the ha cheung well. Overall, not a fan of cold cheung fun. * Chicken feet: Fresh, tasted amazing. We would recommend this. The feet wasn't bony and the sauce was great. * Fried egg roll with shrimp: Super good, fresh and straight from the frier. Extremely crunchy and tasty! We definitely would recommend this. * Minced pork and century egg congee ($10.95): This was on the watery/more liquid side, which was most of our party's preference for congee. The presentation and coloring of the congee was appealing and definitely stock photo worthy. However, the taste of the congee was quite starchy. The pork also has a really strange taste; when we bit into it, an unpleasant and sour taste explodes in your mouth and it is also very salty. The century old egg was OK. Overall, would not recommend this. * Sticky rice with banana leaves: The texture of the sticky rice is like mini pellets, and it is not mushy or soft. There's a bit minced pork, shrimp and lap cheong in it and it was lack luster in terms of flavor. * Seafood crispy noodles ($18.95): The texture of the crispy noodles was A+ and it mixed well with the softer noodles that was smother in thick and delicious gravy. Sadly, everything else in this dish was at most average. The mushrooms were cold and flavorless. The texture of the squid was extremely hard to chew, and it was initially pretty flavorless. However, as we continued to chew on it, the fishy taste was evident and it was clear the squid isn't fresh so we stopped eating it. The shrimp was OK. Would not recommend seafood dish here because it's not very fresh. There are hit and misses here - some dim sum were great and some were very subpar. If you're craving dim sum, this place will somewhat satisfy your cravings. The service was pretty lack luster since they didn't check on us very often. read more

I gave this restaurant a 5 star. The food here is what I consider a authentic chinese food. They serve dimsums and many other chinese foods. They have your regular chinese food if you are not in the mood to try different cuisine. But I suggest to just go for it and give it a try! We love going here on Sunday since they have the cart that goes around the restaurant and you can pick whatever you like! Our favorites are crispy noodles with everything on it, siomai, pineapple bun, fried tofu with shrimp and the sweet tofu with syrup! Service is a little bit off here though especially on weekends since that's their busiest days. You might have to wait for a long time for the cart if you are at the back since there are tables in front of you and they always try to stop and look what's on the cart. Honestly, I am super surprised that this place is rated so high. It's truly not worth my time to even share the details. But I would say that the service is definitely the worst out of all the bads. They will literally have you stand there for 20 minutes without any acknowledgment, and the people that worked there look like they hated their job. Watching them gives me anxiety. This is my first time actually sitting down in here to eat. I came here a few weekends ago to sit down and eat their brunch/early lunch with a friend. Highly recommend to come here when they open (around 11am) to avoid having to wait in line. It gets pretty full pretty quickly AND I arrived around 11:10 after a Spin Class. My friend that I was meeting up with has come here often so knows most of the knick knacks. We put in our order when we first sat down for their Vietnamese coffee, and seriously didn't get them until we were about to get ready and leave. Luckily, all the other foods were coming by to keep us busy! You can see in my pics of the dishes that they have and I honestly can't complain about a single dish. I love the traditional chicken feet dish, ALMOST brings back memories of how my mom would cook them. A spot worth trying at least once for those RVA residentials. Additional note****- For my traditional Vietnamese wedding, I actually ordered my whole roasted pig from here. At the time (2015) A whole roasted pig was for $325. It was cooked to perfection and was exactly what we needed for the wedding. We got there at 11 when it just opened and there were people waiting in line. If you know you're going here for dim sum on the weekends, make reservations. We were lucky enough to get a table. It took an hour and a half for them to bring out the food we ordered. When we got the food, it looked and tasted like it was from yesterday. It was all tasty but not as yum yum good as my favorite Chinese spot nearby. The portions were hearty and the prices were higher than many other Chinese restaurants I've visited. The place itself was untidy, with debris on the floor and tables cluttered with menus, placemats, utensils, boxes and miscellaneous décor pile up pell-mell in one area of the restaurant. Maybe they were doing inventory? In any case, it was unattractive. The other side of the restaurant was full of diners enjoying their lunch and it was much neater. There was a lovely color scheme of corals, black and gold and quite a bit of kitschy Chinese decorations to add to the atmosphere. Found this place by accident. Got here about 2:45 on a Sunday--the very end of dim sum. But their staff welcomed us, got us set up with tea, and there was a dim sum cart in front of us within 2 minutes! We were so appreciative! We only tried a couple dishes -crispy shrimp noodle, the sausage/rice/banana leaf dish (can't remember what it's called), and shrimp dumplings (which they made fresh for us). Everything was solid and made me excited to go back for regular dim sum. Apparently they do a great Vietnamese coffee here but advise you it takes a while to make (this is a good thing people). You may have dim sum on weekdays with limited item. Last 26 years I am enjoying Fulkee especially dim sum and I introduced this restaurant to many friends. I took roasted duck from here for Thanksgiving 15 minutes before the the dinner started, served fresh on the dinner table. One objection I have is that they must clean up the surfaces of the containers filled with salt, papers and sauces regularly with disinfectant or soap. People are touching them with the food on their hand and they are sticky and obnoxious! I take alcohol wipes with me to wipe the surfaces and my hands frequently. Table surfaces are sticky too! The second cart is coming around but looks like it will be a while before the cart will gets to my table. I have never been to a dim sum restaurant this disorganized. But we are still happy we have a dim sum spot. Dim sum is really more about the companionship and gathering than it is about the food. But man is it not on the same level as other cities. Recently had lunch from the regular menu. And it was just OK. Not somewhere I would go for good authentic food. But it's also more Cantonese, which is not my region of choice for Chinese food. The service was good, and although they don't have dim sum during the weekdays, they were nice and accommodated our cravings. I was in Richmond for a wedding and was meeting a friend for brunch the next morning. While perusing Yelp, I found this restaurant and decided we should try it. The previous recommendations of getting there early are spot on! I arrived at 10:45am and there was already a line outside the door and 2 parking spots left (in the cold rain!!). We both love dim sum, so we were willing to wait. Once it hit 11am, the line moved pretty fast to get seated. Drinks came out quickly and then it was waiting time for the carts with food. Everything we tasted was fantastic- shrimp and pork dumplings, eggplant stuffed with shrimp, egg custard tarts, and the rice wrapped in banana leaves. We asked for pork boa buns- what came out was not the normal boa bun, more like a Hawaiian roll with pork inside. One key thing that we saw was that if there was something specific you wanted, you would be better off asking for it from anyone working there vs waiting for the cart. There were several tables where one person at the table would go find the person with the dim sum cart, get specific items, and then the cart wouldn't make it to other tables. I have been going to this restaurant my entire life. My family and I love this restaurant! We are Chinese and Cambodian and only a few Asian restaurants in Richmond get our stamp of approval. Full Kee is by far my favorite out of all of them. The dim sum is hands down the best in Richmond. Other reviewers complain of the long wait times on a weekend morning, that is a direct result of their dim sum being the best in town! Their regular menu is great too. Our favorites are the deep fried spicy squid, deep fried spicy pork chops, beef lo mein, the Chinese broccoli sautéed with garlic...just to name a few. Since the pandemic began we've been craving dim sum with the carts. Our cravings were satisfied at Full Kee where we ate way too much. The food was excellent with a good selection of steamed and fried foods. It was quite busy and the staff had trouble keeping up with the crowd. Also I was disappointed not to be able to get everything we normally would order as the carts moved slowly and did not offer everything. I felt there was a secret to ordering what you wanted but with the wait staff running around I didn't want to stop someone to ask. Nevertheless the food was worth the wait and should I ever be back in the area I would definitely go back. I had a very delightful experience at this restaurant! They serve dim sum every day during lunch time which I believe they said is from 11am-3pm. We arrived at like 5pm, but we still wanted dim sum which they still offered; however, the menu had less options, & it was 50¢ extra for each thing we ordered than if we had made it in time during regular dim sum hours. Anyways, it was worth it because it was delicious. We had shumai, some shrimp rice noodle crepes, & some shrimp balls. We also ordered off of their specials menu the crispy noodles w seafood which consisted of fish balls, scallops, shrimp, squid, etc. Sooo delish & so much food.
