Got a new full gel x set with simple art on Saturday. Charged a ridiculous $200! Nail broke within a day. Called to set up a repair. They changed the day/time twice. Finally got repair....was charged $15!!! No reputable salon charges for repairs of their substandard work. Place just as dirty as last time. Would NEVER recommend!

I'm always satisfied with their Japanese professional nail skills and great quality of products. I like simple nails but their great selection of cute charms always attract me.. and picking them is my favorite time here. Everytime I get nails done here, my gel nails last over a month. That never ever happen in another nail salon around this neighborhood. My nailist Stella, her work is impressive!

Super thick lumpy and unnatural nails that look like duck bills. Not worth it :(

I had mixed feelings about this place after my first visit, but my 2nd time around and I'm 100% convinced the bad out ways the good. I was impressed with my first set of gel extensions, but extremely turned off by the lack of customer service in regards to their unclear pricing and their handling of "we don't accept credit cards for tip" and the hoops I had to go through to get my tip to the nail tech (a whole other long story). Nonetheless, I loved her work and decided to trek from NJ for a gel extenstion refill. I do appreciate that I had arrived at 12pm, to a locked door and this young lady was kind enough to see me after informing me it's their lunch hour. After that, I sat for almost 2.5 hours to end up with a set of unnatural nails that look like surfboards on my fingers. So upset. I literally paid $137 my first visit to end up shelling out another $85+tip (which this time, was offered to tip on my credit card *sigh*) for this result?! Isn't the priceyness supposed to support impeccable work? I second the other review that said if you want duck bills on your fingers, it's what you risk getting. Again, she was super kind, but I'm here for the reputation of your work, and I was super disaapointed that this was the result. I quit, and am not willing to gamble good nails one visit and sub par work the next. Not at that price!

Nail update! My nails are super strong and Denaya has done a wonderful job saving my broken now.

Fumic!!!! Where all your nail fantasies are realized! I was a loyal customer of this quaint, Japanese nail salon for the two years I lived in New York. Even when I moved to Westchester I continued to patronize this lovely salon. I sent several of my friends, family and coworkers here and NONE were disappointed. Very professional. And they get it right. Every. Time. I miss you girls

I have a friend that is a regular here so I decided to give it a try. It's expensive but it seems like it's worth it. I'm going back for pedicure soon

My favorite nail salon of all time! They value the health of your nails above all else. I had short nails to start and had to get extensions but now, months later, my nails naturally grow quickly as long as the extensions. I love the natural look and how sweet everyone at the salon is. I recommend asking for Denaya! She's the best.

Went here yesterday to Have acrylic nails soaked off and to get a gel manicure. I don't know if the person I was working with ever worked with acrylic nails. But instead of soaking them off, she removed them as if she was removing gel polish. She soaked a piece of cotton in acetone and then put the cotton on each nail and wrapped in foil. This made the process longer than needed. On the website it stated that acrylic removal was $30 and gel mani would be $50. That seemed pretty expensive, but based on the Instagram pictures. I thought it would be worth the money. I ended up spending $121 and left with bumpy nails. Not happy at all. I'm fine with spending money. But this was not worth at all. If you don't know how to remove acrylic. Why have it on your website. I will not be returning.

I got my nails done here on 2/9/19. My service was a new set of gel extensions plus simple design. A week later 2 of my nails have already started lifting. For $120 plus tip this should have never happened. I wanted to try a new place and was utterly disappointed. For what I paid my nails should have been immaculate, instead my nail service was mediocre at best. I've been to other nail places that charged much less and gotten a greater quality of service. I don't know if I made a poor decision by choosing Stella as my nail technician but I'm extremely unhappy. Now I have to pay to get my nails soaked off and redone. Honestly I'd be scared to go back to Fumic to get them repaired for fear they'd come out worse as well as being charged an arm and a leg again. This was my first and last time patronizing this establishment.

I walked by Fumic a few times and finally stopped in a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago (out of boredom and to kill time). I was most interested in getting some type of three dimensional jewelry on my nails (again boredom). Don't ask why, because three weeks later, I am still unsure. Anyway, the receptionist recommended that I get a "get manicure" because the stones would last longer. Up until that point I had never gotten a gel manicure, primarily because I hadn't looked into the side effects, my manis tend to last as long as I use an Essie top coat and my nails grow relatively fast. Because I was dead set on getting some type of jewel on my nails, I acquiesced. I received a price list, and assumed based on the listed prices I would be paying around $80 for a mani/pedi. After spending 20-30 minutes scrolling through extensive Fumic's instagram page, I decided on a simple, yet jeweled design. I sat down to start my "gel manicure." It turned out that by "gel manicure", the receptionist meant a gel overlay, not a gel polish. I was not expecting this and had naively assumed otherwise (even as the manicurist applied multiple layers of the overlay) (i'm just **that** oblivious). Although my nails ended up on the thicker side (I think, or perhaps I'm not used to the artificial layer), I was very happy with the results. I think there is a good chance I will return for the same. I got an ombre design which is less obvious when it has grown out. So . .. the quality of my manicure was good. My pedicure on the other hand, not so great. Perhaps it was an issues of the space, but I don't anticipate returning for a pedi given the number of alternative options in the area and the overall price for services at Fumic. I will say that the top coat for my pedicure was very thick and very shiny, which I personally hate. Naturally, my estimate for the cost of my mani/pedi was off. I ended up paying $125, and an additional $20 for tip. In comparison to a few other patrons who got more elaborate styles, I imagine a lot of their customers pay rather steeply. Also, make an appointment. The salon is quite small (only 3 (or 4) stations for manicures and two for pedicures) and it seems like the manicurists are consistently booked. The waiting area is small and not very comfortable. The receptionist and manicurists are very nice and professional. Overall, great salon space (despite the size). I agree with a previous reviewer that the salon is very "shabby chic", bordering on kitschy. Overall, great nail salon providing a fairly unique, high quality (manicures, at least) service, just beware that the prices are quite high, especially for the area.

    I'm obsessed with this design!!

This place was great!!! I was referred by many of my friends, the owner Fumi and girls did amazing job!!! I absolutely LOVE my nails, I had mani & pedi gel today. Really cute & cozy space, and was easy access to subway station :)

I love getting my nails done from Fumic Jewelry!! If you wanna have fun, complicated, delicate and jeweled design, this is the place to come. It is pricy but you are paying for not only the materials, but also their fine art work. I always visit here for gel manicure and I bring design samples. (My case, I go to nail art website and pick 2-3 designs.) When I get their, I already have good solid idea how I would like to combine and customize my nails based on sample designs, and Riwako-san (my nail artist) always execute it very well or make it looks better!!! I will visit there again!! but the same time, I agree on other yelpers comments about discount policy. They could offer some discount for existing / regular customers not for new customer.

I went in for an appointment on Wednesday, 05/11 for gel extensions with Fumi. The appointment process was fairly easy as we were in contact via text (feel free to give them a call). The salon is small but very cozy (2 pedicure stations and 3 manicure stations). They offer you water or tea with some cookies (sweet touch)! I've gotten gel extensions in the past at Sakura but I wanted to try a new place that was closer to me and in the neighborhood. The whole process takes about 1.5-2 hours. If you're looking to do intricate design work, be prepared to stay for about 2.5-3 hours as these nail artists take their time and it's much appreciated. Fumi was awesome! We made light conversation throughout the evening. There is nail art inspiration right on the walls for you to admire and form ideas with which is super helpful. I decided to go with a natural sheer pink gel color and had Fumi draw on a thin gold French on each nail and they turned out beautifully. Note that all gel products are made in Japan so it's quality stuff! The extensions itself looks amazing. Fumi was able to understand that I wanted my nails shaped into a rounded almond, (I cannot stand pointy nails). So how was the pricing? It was $100 for the extensions and $24 for the gold French design. It's pricey but standard for gel extensions. Compared to traditional acrylic tips where you have to get a fill every 2 weeks or so, you can get your gel extensions filled every 3-4 weeks (depending on how well you take care of them). So I waited exactly a week to see how I feel about the quality of the work overall and so far so good. They still look fresh and new (minus the minor nail growth but expected). I already made an appointment to experiment with some nail art and I'm excited! Thank you, Fumi for a wonderful experience!

When I first started coming here, they were very nice. They use to put a lot of effort into their work, The passion was there. However, over the years the quality of service has gotten worst with each passing year. First of all the shop is "Matchbox" size and can hold about 20 people including workers, you would think all the millions she's made there over the years she would have upgraded her space, cause the prices surely have inflated over the years. I use to spend $125 bi-weekly for a full set, pedi, eyebrows and lashes! Now the prices aren't even posted, YOU PAY WHAT THEY SAY! The gel selection is POOR & LIMITED, the "By appt" techs are sloppy and money hungry(Randy cut me twice) Did you know you can get an infection from being cut while being rushed out the chair for the NEXT PAYING CUSTOMER!?? ...But that's the shop as a collective and for the water down gel you slinging, y'all should be a bit nicer(In your profession & manners) There's no amount of wall paper or air freshener that will cover up this scam of a business. Cindy and Alex were a staple in the community, however they are TOO comfortable with mediocrity for me! I'm gonna take my coin downtown for a RUSSIAN manicure, where they cut your cuticles because it's part of the service. Don't EVER think you getting your cuticles cut(UNLESS ITS A PEDICURE) or a massage here!! NOPE! They would NEVER!!! Dishwashing liquid for bubbles, wild cuticles and stomped on GEL... this is not the 80's!! We want our gel PURE.. lol If this was 2001, I would probably recommended this business, but it's 2023..and I wouldn't refer them to my worst enemy! Customer service is key in any thriving business. Avenue Nails on Lexington Ave is lacking in that department. Invest in some NEW GEL ALREADY! Invest in a spot that can hold all 50 of us when you in there being careless and rude! That's the least you could do after all these years. You gonna lose all of your good paying customers soon enough Ms..waited 20yrs to put a credit card machine in the place cause you wanted to avoid taxes!! We're sick of your BAD SERVICE...and I'm so grateful for places like Yelp & TikTok where customers can let others know where NOT to spend our hard earned coin. 0 STARS for me! All good things must come to an end and this is the end for me! FYI.. Top Nails right across the street has plenty of room, a larger gel selection and they cut and massage & it's spotless! Go figure!!!!

Not deleting this review now. Dear owner, deleted your message and blocked you... good luck sis, stay blessed. UPDATE:: took off my nail and got a freaking fungus infection..... don't go to this dirty salon!!!!!!!!!! First off. It took two hours to get my nails done today. Walked in at 10:30 walked out at 12:30!!!??? Ridiculous. At first told the wait was 15 minutes. But then they take other clients while they do your nails. The place isn't that clean and they charge for dumb things. I paid $10 for nail removal when they did nothing but soak them and I took them off myself. So I basically walked out paying almost $50 for very basic full set acrylics. To add to it the process was so long even after I explained I'll leave with a half job so I could make it to my plane on time.

I thought she did a good job overall but maybe the quality of the regular nail polish is pretty bad because even after I waited quite a while for my nails to dry they still smudged. The polish on my hands has bubbles and just looks very messy once you look at them up close. It seems like most people come here for gel or acrylic so they don't really put much thought into regular polish. I got SNS dip powder nails that usually last 3 weeks (when I get them done elsewhere). But when I got them done here, they didn't have the SNS dip powder top coat. So they had to use gel top coat.
