Had a great experience with Jason. He was very accommodating and pleasant to work with. I told him to come up with a design of his own and he did not disappoint. He took extra time and care to make sure we got the placement and sizing correct. Checked in on me multiple times asking how the pain level was. Highly recommend!
Got a tattoo a couple of years ago. Super clean friendly environment. My artist was awesome. He drove the bus but I was good with it. The tattoo is perfect! I tried a couple of months ago to return to get another one but they were booked solid. I don't live in San Diego so coordinating a sitting is difficult. They have two shops across the street from each other. I highly recommend checking this place out and making an appointment. Walk-in is hard because of their popularity.
*Okay people please hear me out* I came in to this shop with a messed up work from a previous artist... it looked really bad... this was back in January I walked in and was greeted by "Hunter" please remember this name.... He was really nice and very professional. He explained everything to me from the work he does, to his colleagues work, his ideas to bring my tattoo back to life because it definitely looked like a sticker on my arm. I booked with Hunter for February 21, and I cannot express how much of a great job he did. I used to always feel embarrassed walking around with unfinished work on my arm. But he definitely has skills and got great vision to be able to fix my tattoo and earn my trust. I ended booking a second session on March 28th and getting almost all my sleeve work done from him and I will continue to get work done by "Hunter" I can't get enough credit for Hunter, thank you for the great work !!!!

I was so scared that the tattoo would make my scars more pronounced, but Julian did an amazing job. The whole experience was amazing. He explained everything from start to finish and made sure to give me enough breaks in between. Since I've gotten my tattoo my scars have significantly reduced. Initially they seemed bigger, but that's to be expected considering I just got stabbed my multiple needles repeatedly for about 4 hours. After a few days once the swelling went down I could feel a major difference. Some lines are still visible however with the scar therapy, Julian was able to get rid of the lumpiness of my scars. Also the flowers he created are so beautiful and well done that it distracts everyone's attention from any lines that were left over. I have my next consultation with him tomorrow and can't wait for my next piece. I would 10/10 recommend Julian especially if you are looking for scar therapy.

Me and my dude decided to get matching tattoos and we chose the soot sprite from Spirited Away (Studio Ghibli) and Kiiroitori from the San-X Rilakkuma cartoon. Let me start by saying we had a great experience with Leo today! Last night on a whim my sister and I decided we wanted to get tattoos and we were searching for the best place to go, when we stumbled upon Funhouse. We tried calling and didn't get a response and we were hoping we could get in the next day. So I sent an email and when I woke up today we had an email back from Leo letting us know he could get both of us in at noon just an hour after the shop opens! WHAT?! For such a high rated place I figured we were SOL but Leo from the jump was super nice and asked us what we were looking for and drew something up for us. My sister and I can be a lot when we are together very sarcastic and loud..... it's a blessing and a curse. The atmosphere was super relaxed and everyone was so nice, tattooers and tattooees lol it was a super experience he had several sizes we could choose from plus he threw together a design for us and helped pick the best placement for both. My sister is super talkative and he showed no signs of being annoyed which is always so nice. I on the other hand don't like to talk much and he didn't force small talk which I LOVE he made sure we were comfortable and dealt with my fidgeting sister with ease. I will definitely be back to see Leo. Thank you again for such an awesome experience!

Highly recommend going to Brandon! Came in with my mom and sister who had never gotten tattoos. They were only in town for a couple of days and Brandon was very flexible with scheduling and accomadating both of them. His set-up was incredibly clean and he was very patient and kind to my sister who was scared of needles. He took the time to explain the process, make sure they were both comfortable, and paused before continuing to ensure they were okay. He was also honest about placement and recommendations for sizing so that the tattoo would heal the best and not fade excessively fast. We took a while for 2 fairly small tattoos due to conversation and changing our minds about placement, but he never rushed us and made the entire process the best it could've been. Overall, Brandon was professional, patient, and geniunely caring toward his clients. The line work was clean and well done, and the tattoos came out exactly as discussed. 10/10 would recommend especially if you're a newbie to tattoos. Thank you! read more

Came in for my first tattoo and I have to admit, was a little nervous. Coming here, there was definitely no need to be nervous. Everything was perfect. The place is very clean, very welcoming and gets it's great reviews for a reason. My artist, Anna, was extremely professional and polite. She took me through the entire process step by step. Her work was perfect and I could not be happier with the result! I'll definitely be coming back to Funhouse and to Anna for my next tattoo and so will my wife. It all started with a simple tuna, to a Polynesian flying fish to a Polynesian manta to a Polynesian fish hook now he is close to finishing this Polynesian half sleeve. Buuuut...... I am so glad that I went with Arty for my first set of tattoos!!!! He is absolutely awesome and I could not have asked for a better tattoo artist. He answers any questions you have and doesn't make you feel dumb about it, is serious about his craft, really friendly and fun to talk to, and of course he delivers amazing tattoos! I have no doubt that I'm coming back to this guy for future tattoos. :) **Update** I went back for another set of tattoos and R2 was my guy. Very professional, worked fast, and did great. He made sure to debrief me on aftercare instructions and offered a free touch-up within 3 months. Truly awesome guy and I love his work as well. Both he and Arty have got finger tattoos down. My friends and I went in on a whim and all three got tattoos from Terry back in August. This was within I think a week or two of working at this shop as he just moved from across the country. He wasn't able to do all three that day so he did one the first day and two the next. Cool dude, easy to work with, and beautiful work that was quick as hell. First visit with Fun House. I looked at reviews and Fun House stood out. I asked for the artist that best fit my design idea. Julian stepped up and I asked him to make his own design based on my idea. I was not disappointed! Julian had a perfect concept and size to what I wanted on my side/ribs. He knew it was a sensitive spot that would require endurance and patience. I had my other side done and let him know I'm ready for the pain. He didn't hesitate and treated me with respect. It took 2 painful sessions as fast as he could, but not too fast to make sure it's done right. He was considerate to my pain but focused on a proper execution. When it got intense he gave me multiple moments to compose myself. Julian is a pro and a master at his trade. A group of my girlfriends and I were going to San Diego to celebrate a bachelorette party and a few of us wanted to get tattoos together. I was not about to just walk in anywhere and let just anybody tattoo me, so I started doing some research and Funhouse Tattoo was the first shop I looked at and after looking at all of the artists work, I was blown away! I continued looking at other shops but Funhouse quickly became my final decision. I communicated with Arty, who was so friendly and was able to get all 6 of us girls scheduled at the same time, no problem. We showed up and Arty was so awesome! He dealt with our crazy bunch like it was nothing, entertained us and kept us laughing! My girlfriends who were tattooed by him, received amazing tattoos and are so in love with them! Diego Perugini ended up with an opening, so I decided to get tattooed by him. He pulled up his portfolio for me to look at while he got set up, and I knew immediately he was the perfect artist for me! His black and gray style is unbelievable, this man is extremely talented! Once, he took me back, he took his time ensuring the design was perfect and exactly what I wanted, finding the best placement and positioning and not just rushing into it. He was very professional and made sure to show me that he was opening brand new packages of needles. He kept checking with me to make sure I was doing okay but I was doing great! I love coming here to get my tattoos it's always such a welcoming environment. I got this tattoo from Paulie. All the artists are good but he's my favorite. He's such a collaborative person and is always willing to work with you to make sure you get exactly what you want. The blood drips and the red background weren't even a part of the original design but we were just talking and came up with them on the spot and I think they're great touches. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone wanting a tattoo!! The customer service is beyond spot on. My friend and I wanted to get tattoos but could only do it on a certain day, and Anna, our tattoo artist offered to come in on her day off!! She was so kind to do this for us. She was very insightful when it came to our tattoos. Not only was she helpful but she was hilarious as well, she made our day. !WALK IN WONDER! I walked in today and GUEST artist, Diego, worked with me in designing a piece I needed assistance with. It turned out BEAUTIFULLY and his work is so gorgeous. He is a true artist when it comes to his work, and he is honest in advising you what the best placement and design is for your piece. Funhouse has always taken care of me with their resident artists, so I will always recommend them. But please, DIEGO IS HERE FOR THE SUMMER & then he's back to Italy. This was my first tattoo (ever) so I was extremely nervous. I messaged the owner on Yelp to figure out the logistics and he got me scheduled and set me up with an artist. He was very nice and super fast at replying to messages! R2 did my tattoo and he is AMAZING. He was so friendly, and put me at ease the whole time with conversation. He answered any questions I had in a way that was both reassuring and detailed. He is wonderful and I can't recommend him enough. Hey yes we have a couple guys that do great watercolor tattoos. And we charge based on the size of the piece smaller stuff around 2hrs or less charged by the piece and bigger stuff charged hourly.
