Travelled to Houston for work and this place was close for deliver and I gave it a try. I am so glad that I did. Tried several Lunch Combo's. General Tso's chicken, Schezhuan Pork, Beef and Broccoli. Everything was extremely fresh and was very tasty. My only complain was the soup is quite small, and there was no fried soup noodles to break into my soup. Typically general tso's uses cheaper scrapes of meat and its usually mostly all batter. This was full pieces of white meat chunks and was cooked perfectly. The Beef in the Beef and Broccoli was like butter. it was melt in your mouth tender and would absolutely order this again. The pork was okay, spicy sauce with strips of pork. First and last time visiting the location. The service was okay. The food is a different story. We ordered hot & sour soup, fried crab rangoon, sesame chicken and general tso chicken. The hot & sour soup had a pungent rank smell and bitter taste. I opted to switch to the wonton soup, which only had ONE wonton. The sesame chicken was rather dry and not spicy as they had advertised. I read the reviews but did not heed the message, and paid dearly. I foolishly assumed the health code violations in January were corrected...went there on March 3 and ended up with food poisoning . On the second day of "the event", to which now it is referred, I found myself in the ER and on an IV drip (took 2 bags ). Food is good but pricey. Try not to order takeout, as you get served less than the original portion, but still pay the same price; plus delivery. I called to make sure that it was my correct order, as I recieved two small containers with chicken fried rice. We think this is one notch higher than our typical takeaway Chinese. Would give a 3.5 star for food and service. We usually try a restaurants fried rice and absolutely love their shrimp fried rice. Had this multiple times for over a year and it never fails to disappoint with it's flavor and quality. We like their stir fried veges especially the broccoli chicken in white sauce which we love as well. We also enjoy most stir fried meat dishes like general tsao's. From bad to even worse, last time I got rotten moldy food and did my civic duty and reported them to the city health inspector, and without surprise they're on the health inspection violations list (diners beware). So, being generous tried to order from them again something simple (read: not orange beef), placed my order for sesame chicken, an appetizer, which is now well over a $15 order, and the overly rude lady says "no $18 for delivery", your menu says $15, so you're saying your menu is a lie? She paused, delivery will take over an hour and it's $18 for delivery. To which I calmly replied "I'm not ordering $20 of food for just myself, cancel my order". To sum their new ownership up in two words, greedy and dishonest. Seriously order from elsewhere, this place doesn't deserve your hard earned money if they're willing to serve you rotten food, lie about delivery minimums as well as putting a lady who is about as friendly and courteous as a bag of snakes on the phone (it's just plain bad business to be rude to customers). This is our favorite place for fast American style Chinese food in Houston. Also this place wins the "freshest food" award. I have never had fresher and softer chicken anywhere else. We usually order orange chicken and it's super fresh. The chicken is so soft and perfectly cooked. I wish I knew how to make chicken at home like this. Most restaurants cannot cook chicken so fresh. Also the sauce and veggies are fresh. The orange flavor sauce is made from real orange peels. Also NO MSG! The lunch special is a great value and includes soup and spring roll and take out is fast. Safety precautions were good, the place was very clean. And the server was nice and very polite. However we were the only customers there for 10 mins and then more ppl started coming in. The table by us was a white family and I noticed even though they ordered 15mins after us, the server kept giving them their food before us. Even though he had both appetizers he served them theirs and then gave us ours. Then the main dish was given to them and then he gave us ours. He was a very nice server and polite, but it seemed like he was subconsciously treating us like second rate customers because we were Asian. Americanized Chinese food is so good and so convenient. I grew up eating Moo goo gai pan, Mandarin duck, combination fried rice and shrimp toast when it comes to Chinese food during the 1990s. Thank goodness Fu's Garden has Shrimp Toast!! This place is a hop and a skip away from my office so when I have a piggy craving, then I call them up and get my Shrimp toast ready for pick up. I have only been here for lunch, dine in and takeout. But I bet they are super delicious during the dinner service. Okay I admit, I wanted some Americanized Chinese food and saw that this place had a lot of good reviews. So I decided to give this a try. I went during a non-busy time and there was nobody there. Which was good... but after placing my order, it started to get busy. The atmosphere is nice, and the environment is clean. The staff was very fast/efficient and my water was always kept full. Since everyone mentioned they loved the shrimp toast, I had to give that a try... Talk about greasy... I had to use a cloth napkin to drain the toast... it saturated the napkin and still leaked out.. besides the grease attack... it was very good. I also ordered the orange beef, general tso chicken, lo mein, and the green bean with ground chicken... All was tasty.. but I have to call out the orange beef. I think they did this right/perfect. The food was awful, they use low quality meat and their dishes are loaded with msg. The dinning room is old and dingy. I understand why most people order it to-go. They had very limited drink choices, so we ordered hot tea & a sprite. Crab Rangoon had no crab and tasted like white cheese and water crackers. Mongolian beef was nothing special, very bland. The moo shu pork was bad, the meat was low quality, fatty, salty (msg), and the flavor was terrible. I ended up using a lot of hosin sauce, but even then, I could only eat a little because it upset my stomach. I don't know why people are giving this place 5 stars, that's very misleading. If you want a fresh, American style chinese food, this is one of my favorite places in Houston

Let me start with this.... this is not an authentic Chinese restaurant. This is an americanized Chinese restaurant with classic Chinese take out dishes. If you want some good ol' fashioned "cheap Chinese take out" this is it -- please... don't come in expecting Chinatown or you will be leaving with the poo poo face. With that being said I came looking for just that and I must say compared to the other Chinese places (Panda Garden and Chang's) I have to say I like this the best. There is no pretense in their food/establishment. It's a take out joint that has the classics and that's about it... and I respect that. Their lunch menus are very reasonable ($7.65 - $8.95) -- unlike other nearby places. I got the lunch portion tofu and vegetables in brown sauce, fried rice and hot and sour soup. First, the hot and sour soup... it's great. I really really enjoyed it... it's not hit you over the head sour or spicy... but the heat definitely creeps up on you and by the end of the bowl you'll feel a nice little burn. Veggies were very fresh... they weren't all cut up in baby sized pieces and there is a good mix.. not your run of the mill baby corn cabbage mumbo jumbo. I personally like their fried rice. It's not oily/greezy and not overly soy sauced.... it was light and I think it's good. Egg roll has much to be desired. Service -- I didn't come in with high expectations. I categorize this place as a "take out joint" so I'm not expecting the world. But for lunch the waiters definitely are moving fast to serve the crowd. No one was overly hospitable, no one was rude either and I was greeted by the owner with a smile as I left. All in all I like it. It's cheap chinese and appropriately priced. Don't go in expecting the best Chinese food in Houston. If you want something fast or in the mood for cheap chinese this is better than the surrounding alternatives. read more

Let me specify this is for lunch only. This is my "go to" spot when I don't know what to eat and don't want to be experimental. They never disappoint. All the other locations closed but this ones been here forever. Love the chicken cashew, pork with leeks and a few others that fit the bill. All lunch comes with rice, soup and roll. Tried Fu's Garden at lunch today and really enjoyed it!! It is about a mile from my office so it is very convienent. Some girls I work with always talk about how great it is so I went with them today, and it was great!! The food came out fast and the portions were pretty large. I had the beef and green peppers ( aka pepper steak ) and it came with a huge portion of beef, onions and peppers in a yummy sauce, a large side of fried rice and an egg roll. I was not a fan of the egg roll but the rest was excellent! It also came with a soup...I had the won-ton and it was good, but served a little lukewarm. We were hoping for hot. My whole meal cost less than $7....can't beat that!! We got there a few minutes after 11 and the place was empty but by 11:30 there were hardly any tables left available. They had to call me multiple times to verify my address. Food gets 1 star. The orange beef had huge or ge peels, chewwy, gummy sweet beef that had large dried red peppers but no spice, go figure.
