Very bad customer service. We were put in the corner of the bar area nobody came to service us for 25 minutes then the bartender finally comes to ask what we'd like for drinks while he's taking our orders for drinks he takes our order for food. Well, first of all, I used to love this place when they had two locations in SF..the Castro and Embarcadero..most of the items were great, but the one thing I always craved for was the firecracker fusilli. When the two locations closed I was so sad I would not get to indulge in that unique flavor again. Then I found out one location remained, but in Modesto. So fast forward many years later, maybe even 10-12 years when I had come to find out a fellow co-worker's father owned the one in Modesto! I couldn't wait to pay them a visit..so fast forward even later and we happen to pass through Modesto...it turned out my co-worker's dad had sold it less than a month ago! Oh no! So we stopped there anyway. The food was delicious--not as delicious as way back when but still had the flavor I can recognize..I asked for the bill and saw this little surcharge on a kids meal drink. It did not specify anything about that on the kids menu, nor was it ever mentioned by the server. I inquired about it and she said she didn't know so she asked the manager. She returned to tell me that a lemonade was more than a fountain drink so that is why there was this additional charge. Again I said it is not stated and I shouldn't have to pay that for her not knowing. I asked to speak to the manager. The server relayed the message to the manager who then comped the charge "for this one time". First of all, why did I have to work so hard for the 50 cents? Second of all, the kids drink came to us in a cup 1/3 the size of a normal drink. You wouldn't lose any money serving that drink to begin with, but now you got me so worked up that I had to fight for 50 cents, you lost a customer that paid $100 for lunch. Hope that 50 cents was worth it for you. read more

I decided to try this since we always go to Trisetti's. I made a reservation under my dates last name. When I made the reservation the girl told me that she had the perfect table for us by the window. When we arrived last night (prior to our show at Gallo) , we were told that there was no reservation for us. Then we were seated where they had room. I ordered a Cocotini . More people arrived and were seated. A waitress looked like she was finally coming my way with my drink and she gave to the table that was seated much later than we were. I want to start out by saying that the food was, for the most part "EXCEPTIONAL." I had the firecracker fries, Cambozola bacon burger and the crispy calamari linguine. Came to Fuzio's tonight with a large party for a birthday, we had reservations.for 16. First, the spacing was too tight. I will say the menu looked better than average. I was anticipating the meal so I reviewed it before hand. We started with several appetizers which were ok. The very pleasant server described the special (Steam and Shrimp with mashed potatoes). The steak was ordered med. well. It came out well done, which would have been ok, but he steak was very chewer, lots of Grizzle and way under seasoned. And, if the rest of the plate were better maybe it would have been ok. But, the mash potatoes were LOADED with salt. Not even close to being right. So much so, that my daughter and her husband had to send them back TWICE. The server finally switched them for Rosetto. Since it was a large party Zi didn't want to complain too much. Actually, the server was very pleasant and it appears that he was trying his best. I will say the salad (Chicken Blue Cheese small size was very good. With a large party like this they should have repaired with an additional server. ESPECIALLY since they added 20% to every bill. I usually tip pretty well for good food and great service. The server asked if I wanted to take my meal home? It would have been obvious due to 80% being left on the plate. I told him the potatoes were too salty, and the steak tough, over cooked and poor quality. I really wanted to like my experience here but doubt I'll be back. read more

Love the Happy Hour here! Ends at 5:30pm, $3 glasses of a white and a red wine, $4 drafts either Blue Moon or Firestone, appetizers 1/2 price. Prices could change, but that's what it's been the last two years I've hit their Happy Hour. I always ask for a double glass of the red wine, the calamari and baked brie. PHENOMENAL! My favorite calamari in Modesto, really light breading and tender calamari. The baked brie is addictive if you love brie. Every time I come in I hope to get Carrie as my server, she is so professional and helpful. I've been a few times for dinner, including once for New Year's Eve and the entrees are so so good. I love the short rib ragu and the rigatoni alfuzio. The only dish I'm not a fan of is the firecracker lettuce wraps I will keep coming back here as long as they keep the happy hour the same or better and have servers as great as Carrie! read more

This place has the most solid menu and the drinks are stellar. You CAN NOT go wrong with Fuzios. Modesto has alot of great restaurants, and I feel Fuzio is often overlooked. It has a great vibe inside with a trendy bar, outdoor seating that's perfect in warm weather and menu that's not only reasonable, but has alot of variety. So we decided to go to Fuzio for lunch to celebrate a late birthday. We started with the roasted brussel sprouts with bacon and blue cheese, then I had the gnocchi with gorgonzola cream sauce. Both were on point and cooked perfectly, however the star of our lunch was a specialty burger called The Firecracker Burger. Oh My God..it's epic! Its a hamburger topped with firecracker pork (it's the same pork in Fuzio's Firecracker Pork Fusilli, another favorite), cheese, avocado, habenero aoili, and Siracha fries ON THE BURGER. What?! This burger is GIANT. And it came with a side of delicious herbed fries. I have to stress, if you are craving the best gourmet burger in town, this is the place. I know, who would have thought? My friend & I decided to have dinner before going to a sold-out show at Gallo Center. I called around 1pm & asked if I would need a reservation for that evening, around 5:45pm. I was told, "No, it won't be necessary." I arrived inside at 5:50. The place was 90% full. I got the last not reserved table, right behind the podium. Since it was obviously busy, I immediately ordered a cocktail & the brie dip while I waited for my friend. My friend was more than 10 minutes late. My drink arrived after she had gotten settled, checked out the cocktail menu, decided she would just have a Diet Coke, & started looking at the food menu. She ordered her Diet Coke, which arrived within two minutes. We ordered our half salads when the Coke arrived & inquired about the brie dip. She would check on that. Within ten minutes, our salads arrived! Although this wasn't our waitress, a runner, we again inquired about the brie dip. She would check on that. We began eating... I struggled to find the Bleu cheese in my Bleu cheese chicken salad. The chicken was tough & dry even with the dressing. Our original waitress was about to pass by us! I abruptly stopped her & inquired about the brie dip. She rushed off, mumbling. "...have been checking on it." My friend had me taste the won ton crisps in her Chinese / Oriental salad. I took a nibble & said, "Old oil, bad oil." She picked through less than half of her half salad & ate the rest of the bread on the table. I did a bit better, a little over half, since my salad was a missing ingredient (Bleu cheese) & chucks of tough / dry chicken that were relatively easy to pick out (lettuce apple cucumber salad). We were finished & began to discuss "...bill better not have brie on it." At that moment, the waitress walks up behind me with the brie. "I'm sorry for the delay," she says. "I'm not paying for that & I would like the bill since we are now on a time crunch for a show," was my response. I have always had good food at Fuzio. On that night, the only good food was the bread. They were understaffed in every aspect. The food & service suffered: no sous chef to crumble the Bleu cheese because someone had to cut up yesterday's leftover chicken & monitor the freshly fried in old oil wonton crisps, & only 3 waitresses to handle a full house. Here is my advice... know what is going on in your community & staff accordingly. Last Thursday was a "fail" for your restaurant. I will give you another chance, some day soon. This is my second time here. The first was good enough to return. We started with calamari, which was the perfect portion size to share with my gf. The breading was crispy, light and flavorful, and the two sauces tasty. My chicken Marsala had a delicious sauce but was a little dry.
