Several years ago we stopped in, but tonight we decided to eat here after checking out Modesto's Art Walk. I usually have a steak at a regular "steak house." However, I decided to try their halibut. I'm certainly glad I did as it was better than any I've tried in the Bay Area. It tasted fresh & was served on a bed of extremely tasty risotto. My wife enjoyed the pink shrimp fettuccine & described it as absolutely delicious. Our waitress, Kellie, did her job in a truly outstanding manner. She described the special & then explained how the halibut would be served. She promptly brought water & took our order with a smile. She was happy to explain as to how to use the parking voucher we had obtained at the Walk. Her pleasant demeanor & smile were always on display. Fuzio's is an anchor of Downtown Modesto and continues to get better with time. Their menu complexity has grown and developed over the 10+ years it's been at that location. I love the location- right across from Brenden, walkable to the Gallo center and the Center Plaza, and right next to a dirt cheap, parking garage. My personal favorite in the scallops over risotto. So good! AND they actually do a great job cooking seafood. The appetizers are really tasty as well. Several times we have come and just ordered apps to share, a couple cocktails and people watched while seated at their outdoor terrace. And Fuzios is also one of the few places that actually offers outdoor dining options to enjoy good weather. Occasionally there will even be live music or street fairs along 10th street that are also neat to view/listen to while you sip your Chardonnay. If I could, I would give this place 10 STARS! Over the years, I have hosted three parties in the Firecracker Room and numerous happy hours, dinners, lunches and even To-Go on a normal basis for my office and everything, every time is delicious and fresh. One thing you will notice about Fuzio's is that the owner (Thomas) is normally always working. When I say working, I don't mean sitting in the bar with his lap top like most owners do, I mean doing the grunt work. This is why Fuzio's has been so successful for so long. He is very easy to work with as well and always willing to switch this for that if your designing a menu for a party. This is definitely the best restaurant in this area. read more

I have been to Fuzio's numerous times and always enjoy the atmosphere, food & service. I especially like their Italian Lover flatbread pizza. That, with a glass of red wine makes a wonderful lunch! I had called ahead to ask if they had availabilities for tonight, and the lady said they aren't taking any more reservations but they still take walk-ins, and told me approximately how long the wait would be. When we came, the host said that they aren't doing walk-ins, only reservations... I received a reply from the restaurant very quickly and Thomas was very helpful. He not only apologized but also informed me that it shouldn't have happened and had gone over the restaurant policies with his staff to make sure something like this won't happen again. The food selection is most definitely meant for someone who pays attention. The options although good felt limited. I ate their ghost pepper pasta which was surprisingly not all that hot. It had a side of chicken and a lemonade for a drink. The service was quick and frequent - helpful. The ambiance - inside is very elegant and intimate, outside is located in modestos center so It welcomes noise but also entertainment from the bar across the way (Ralston Goat). read more

If I could give them six stars, I would! The food was BOMB! The service was incredible! We made a reservation and had to push it back a half an hour and they didn't give me any grief. They were super busy and I was surprised they were so flexible with my reservation. I don't live in the area, but I'll definitely be coming back to try more of their menu! read more

We drove all the way to Modesto from San Francisco for Firecracker Pork! We've missed this dish since they left us. During this pandemic time, they were open and all the workers were wearing masks. They did offer outdoor seating, but we opted to take to go. It was just as I remembered it. We also tried new things we had not seen on the SF menu and everything was so delicious! I had a horrible experience here I called in my order to pick it up at curbside. When I got there we called and they said OK will be out soon 10 minutes later as I watch my order on the counter getting cold no one came out to give us our order. So I went inside to get my order and I asked the manager why it took so long and it was like he didn't even care he said you should've called again. Plus I didn't want spinach on my order and I got it on my order. I will never eat there again. This place a bad experience. read more

I enjoyed two lunches while attending a photo conference in Modesto. It is close to the Doubletree, and it is open on Sunday, so, it was an ideal choice both days. The interior of the restaurant is attractive and they also have outdoor seating. There is a full bar and a specialty cocktail menu. On Saturday I went with a group of seven and I was worried that we would not have time to enjoy lunch before rushing back for the afternoon programs. My concerns were unfounded; they got the food out quickly and were happy to give us separate checks. Sunday the conference was over by noon and I was able to have a more relaxed lunch and a cocktail On the Saturday I had a hamburger with portabella mushrooms with thyme shoe string potatoes, and served with a roasted garlic mayonnaise dipping sauce. I didn't think to ask they to cook the burger rare and it was cooked medium. Never the less it was very tasty, and it was served a good quality toasted bun. The server said that that thyme fries were their signature dish. And I can see why, they were wonderful. I took a taste of Linda's carrot ginger soup and it was good too. I had enough of my meal left over to have for breakfast. On Sunday we started our lunch with an appetizer and cocktails. The quick-fried yellow onions, tossed in chinese five spice and drizzled lemon-garlic aioli were so good I could have eaten a platter of them. The chocolate martinis were very good, and to celebrate a great weekend I had two. There lunch menu offers a mix and match section of salads, soups, pasta, and sandwiches. It was a hard decision. I finally decided on a tuna melt and a chicken salad. I forgot how good some of these classic sandwiches can be when updated a bit and served on an interesting folded flat bread The salad had more than enough chicken. I got a taste of the firecracker pork in Linda's pasta, and if I was ordering a dinner I think I would have this pork. read more

I'm really only adding this update so I can tell you about the AWESOME lunch I had here yesterday, and show you the picture to prove it! It was another blustery, rain filled afternoon downtown, and I wanted nothing more than soup and salad. Alas, Fuzio satisfied my craving for comfort, with a bowl of carrot ginger soup, and a Greek salad. I don't really need to tell you how delicious it was, If it sucked, I wouldn't have made the effort to write this and post a picture so...there ya go! Oh, and they don't have their bread to dip in vinegar and olive oil anymore, but before you get disappointed like I was at first, they now have Parmesan flat bread...and it is goooooood! read more

Me and my bf came here for the first time. A lot of our friends talk so highly of this place. We went in a Saturday afternoon which seemed like the perfect time. Our waitress was so friendly. The grilled salmon with asparagus with risotto was super fab! I went there with a bunch of coworkers for our xmas luncheon. Nice cut of salmon grilled just right and the risotto had awesome flavor. This was the second time I went to Fuzios and it was great this time....the other time wasn't so great. My fault though cause I picked something new randomly. And that time my gambledidnt pay off. Came in for a quick lunch. The restaurant looked really clean and well up kept with a bar and a dining area inside as well as a couple of patios. I was promptly seated, attended to, and placed my order in no time. Deciding to try the Potato Leek soup as well as the Grilled Chicken and Red Pepper Panini I went for the lunch special and got both. The order came out really quickly and since a picture is worth a thousand words, I enclosed one below. The soup was actually very good, if albeit a bit salty. It had a very nice creamy texture and balanced potato and leek flavors. As for the panini, I am almost lost for words. It was basically two greasy, undercooked pieces of flat bread with a thin slice of chicken and a few strips of red pepper along some sautéed onions. It was, messy, oily, and just overall unpleasant. Before trying lunch, I was considering this place for dinner, but since then I have strongly reconsidered. read more

Not much for reviews, but thought this place was worthy of one. I'm traveling here in Modesto so I don't know too many places here. The service was outstanding! Greeted as soon as we walked in and sat in the bar. My beer was waiting in front of me before I could even get comfortable in my chair to watch Monday night football. Very classy place. Reminded me of home. The pork sliders on the appetizer part of menu, well, they were phenomenal. Delicious is an understatement. Probably some of the best sliders I've ever had. Almost ordered a second plate as my meal. Opted for the pizza which was pretty darn good. The staff was very friendly. The bar has a full selection and 3 flat screens. I was able to watch Monday night football and Mlb playoffs. More importantly, this place is only a two minute walk from the doubletree hotel. We came in as a group of 11 on a Friday night after watching a movie at Brenden Theatre, we did not have to wait long at all. Our waiter was very attentive, especially considering we were a rather large group without a reservation. They have a full bar but seemed pretty limited on the beer selection on draft, unless you are into IPAs. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals and the waiter even split the checks. Amazing food! Drinks are okay. But, this is our fav place to come eat when we drive up from LA to visit with family.

I have eaten here two nights in a row because I was required to stay near my Father in Modesto who needed some extra care. Anyway, the Manager and the Bartender that worked Saturday and Sunday night were amazing. I sat at the Bar. It was closed to closing time and they both were so polite and accommodating. This was the first restaurant I ate at when I moved to Modesto - mostly because it is conveniently located next to the DoubleTree. I love the appetizers and salads here - the Spinach Salad and the Chop Salad are great. The lettuce wraps are a meal unto themselves. They specialize in pastas, but I prefer their real meals like the salmon and the spicy steak. Decided on lunch in downtown Modesto and I picked a local bistro. I really liked the way the place looked on the outside and the inside was clean and got good service right away. The menu was simple and offered plenty of good dishes. I had the pink shrimp pasta and my partner had the bistro burger. The pasta had great flavor and the burger was great. Loved the fries too. Fuzio was my first date with my husband on 01/31/2008. Even after 12 years We still love this place. The food is still great, the servers are always awesome, and the habanero pesto pretty much goes with everything. This is now a Modesto staple and I hope it never goes away. I will start off by stating that I was starving when I walked in at 3:00 in the afternoon which is a double edged sword because I was so hungry I could just about eat anything and enjoy it but at the same time, I was probably not in the best of moods. So it was nice to be pleasantly surprised at how attentive the service was and how quickly the food came. I will admit there were hardly any other customers in the restaurant since most people do not eat at this time of day unless they live in one of the more cosmopolitan European countries. I ordered a combo special which comes with your choice of a soup or salad with a half order of pasta or sandwich and drink for $8.25. The angel hair pasta with tomatoes was good yet nothing remarkable but I kid you not when I tell you that Fuzio's Caesar salad dressing is one of the best I have ever had. And after 3:00, Fuzio's pastas and pizzas are half price. You can't beat that! read more

They change up the menu infrequently but there are eclectic choices & enough varied interesting dishes. They also have several very good vegetarian options. They have outside seating along 2 sides of the building, allowing them to accommodate quite a few people army once. The Firecracker Fusilli was amazing! I used to eat here frequently when I had a job that brought me to Modesto (I live in Sac). Was in Modesto today, and so decided to eat lunch here. I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. I had the chicken sausage, penne pasta dish. It was "OK". But not $15.50 for lunch "good". Not much protein, the pasta was not penne, some very small, almost Campbell's soup sized pasta, maybe 1/4" in length. $8? Maybe I would have reset my expectations. $15.50. No. My second issue applies to many restaurants, but since I was here today... LOUD, drowning out conversation, "background music." I don't know where the change came that restaurants feel we need to be entertained during meals, with loud, blaring, high decibel music front and center, but I'm not a fan, and actually stop frequenting restaurants that play club-like volume, intrusive, music. So a star off for both, and maybe should have taken another one off as well. A "weak" three stars at best. read more
