Love the shrimp tempura tacos. Outstanding. Order 3 to feel full. Just ordered the grilled chicken salad. Chicken over cooked and too much taco seasoning on it. We have noticed most fuzzy locations have closed and we were excited to try this one. Basic orders two taco plates. They were out of fish tacos. Ok no problem. We filled up our giant plastic cups with sweet tea and it was disgusting. Easy fix, dump it and get something else. Food comes and looks great. It needed salt desperately. No salt on any table and the self service area only has pepper. We go to the pick up windows and the genius says salt is on the tables. We say no not right now it's not and the bin is empty. He shrugs and says nothing I can do. Um u you can put some in a little cup or napkin. Anyway brisket taco was shoe leather but the other three were fair but lacking spice. Great prices, food is good and a full bar. This one is not like others I have gone too. This location is darker, not much lighting. Very noisy and there is no table service. This means, you wait on line to place your order at one of the two registers. Then you have to hunt for an open table. Keep in mind, on this mid-week dinner, folks were saving tables for friends to arrive and that didn't leave to many open spots to sit and wait for your beeper to go off. When your beeper goes off, you head up to the kitchen to pickup your food. There are no sauce bars, so you get what you get, and asking for extra sour cream, expect to be charged for it. Clean up is your responsibility too. So when you are done, clean your stuff separate your trays from your paper and your drink. Guess this is how we keep the prices under $10. for a full meal. If you go by there and want a quick meal at a super cheap price, go for it. Interesting they offer breakfast all day too. read more

My memory of this particular Taco Shop is a bit fuzzy itself so bear with me. I came here late one night with my date after flying in to the nearby Sarasota Airport. I ordered a Shredded Chicken Taco and a Margarita. We also split some chips and queso. After a little wait, our food came out. However, I had to go up to the bar and reorder the Margarita that was supposed to be ready and waiting. Somehow the food was finished first, so I think there was some sort of disconnect between the cashier and the bartenders. I remember the taco being a bit sloppy, but otherwise I did not find the food to be terribly memorable. I'm glad that late night food is available at Fuzzy's and I will have to try again, though I would probably choose some different items. read more

I'm talking massive pile of nachos, and they are not skimpy with the cheese--- The addictive white liquid cheese, feta, and shredded cheddar is applied in layers. Like a drowning, dripping, delicious strata of cheese, chips, and meat. It is enough for two people. This Tex-Mex chain of restaurants is cheap, all day cheap. Not just cheap at lunch and slam you at dinner kind of cheap. There are only a few locations in Florida right now, so I have no idea why Sarasota was chosen of all places. But, thanks! It is a new stand-alone building among other new buildings along a deserted portion of University Parkway. If you like breakfast, they have breakfast tacos all day long. And, even serve real deal ground chorizo! They serve alcohol. This ain't your typical "fast casual Mexican" joint. Honestly, I would just come to Fuzzy's for the $3 churros floating in a honey bath. First time here at the new taco shop. I think it opened a few weeks ago. First thing we found was getting to the location required a u-turn if headed east bound on University. Had to bust a u-turn at the light. The parking lot was quite small and was undersized given the size of the place. Luckily, we found a spot. When you walk up, it appears there is a taco bar that you can sit outside. Once inside, there is a short zigzag line to the ordering station. The line only accommodates about 10 people, then you are left with the line out the door. Seems like poor planning. Once at the counter, the staff was friendly. We ordered our tacos and went to sit at a high top table. I asked if there were options for hot sauce and salsa, and was told I could get some at the kitchen window. We sat at the high top tables next to the full bar. I was surprised, but they have a full liquor bar along with a decent craft beer selection on draft. While starring at our buzzers, we looked around for a salsa bar, but there wasn't one surprisingly. After about 5 minutes, our buzzer rang, so we went to the window to get our food. My coworker got the California heat taco, spicy pork, and the chorizo, egg, potato, and cheese. I got a drunken pig pork and beans, spicy pork taco, beef brisket taco, and the chorizo, egg, potato, and cheese taco. We were somewhat surprised with how small the tacos were, 4" or so, but given the cost, about $2, they were decently priced. The only taco that was more expensive was the California heat at $3.29 which my coworker said was not worth the extra cost as he could not taste the tempura shrimp at all. We were about to dig into our tacos, when I realized my chorizo taco had no cheese on it. I took it back to the window and asked them to put cheese on it, and they looked at me like I wanted something for free. I explained what it was, then they took it, threw cheese on it, and put it back on the flat top. It was given back to me a minute later with unmelted cheese on it. Pretty poor service in my eyes. I then asked them about the hot sauce that was available at the kitchen and they informed me the only hot sauce they had was on the table. I was offered a side of salsa that I gladly accepted. Now ready to eat, we tore into our tacos. They were all about 3 bite tacos, so they did not last long. I asked my coworker what he thought and we agreed that the tacos were pretty average. The drunken pig, pork and beans, were tasty and filling, but nothing remarkable. As we left, we were glad we got to try out the new place, but would not go out of our way to try it again. It was pretty average and with a few other great Mexican food options in the area, it would be hard to come back here again unless we were passing. read more

Come on Fuzzys!! You have been one of my favorite tacos stops in the area the last few years. After a rough day at work, swinging by for two tacos and a marg was my go-to move. Stopped by today to order some quesadillas (super stoked about), only to walk in and see NO ONE who is customer facing is wearing a mask. The food prep guys seemed suited up (slightly reassuring), but the bartenders and servers are clearly being instructed to appeal to a certain sort of local patron. I really like you guys. Come back to me!!! You can still appeal to the anti-mask masses by letting them come into your establishment, and tell them "ugh, these masks are the worst, but it's policy!" It's a wink and a nod, while remaining, well, sane. Dog whistle to the covid conspiracy theorists all day. But can you at least whistle behind a small piece of cloth covering your face which may prevent your customers from contracting a potentially deadly virus? read more

Taco Tuesday price is good. The thing to remember is for the value it lacks in flavor. Super plain shredded chicken. Also, feta cheese on tacos? It gave a funny flavor. Is it tex Mex? I'm not sure. Honestly, I didn't like it, but I ate it. Looks like some people do like it though, so maybe I got the worst dish? Don't know. It was edible-ish. My kid liked her plain quesadilla. It's a bar type place, so they have full liquor and beer. I can see tipsy people appreciating throwing this down the gullet after drinking. Friendly cashier, it's an order, and go get it yourself and clean up after yourself, super casual place. It's not my thing. There is one pool table and plenty of seating. Jukebox turned up in the early afternoon with classic rock. Family friendly. Just ok. Didn't suit my pallet, but I would give them a second chance with a different dish if I wanted food and drink on a budget. Just meh. This was my last time ever coming back. I've been to this place a couple times before, food is average but you can tell the quality isn't the best and you have to wait an exceptionally long time for 4 tacos (Ridiculous). I understand it's more of a bar spot but still... Here is what brings me to this review. I ordered 4 tacos for take out through Door Dash, order was confirmed, had a Driver, and still had to wait an HOUR and a HALF. Driver apologized even though it wasn't his fault. Got my delivery and opened the box to 4 taco shells with plain chicken, after waiting all that time. Taco Bell has better service. If your this short staffed just close the restaurant, it'll be better than ruining your reputation Fuzzy's! read more

Tried several different taco/Mexican places since moving to Florida, but always seem to return to this place. They have a laid back bar type atmosphere, good music playing, and the food is always on point. My parents have eaten here since it opened many years ago. I visit a few times per year. Food quality, service and overall cleanliness has gotten worse year over year. We went today and my mother had the worst nachos she has had in her 70 years (barely any meat and cheese with stale chips) . The cooks are not trained and it is too hit and miss with more misses over the past two years. I think anybody who visits will question the cleanliness. Management needs a complete overhaul as this could be a fun local place. read more

We found this killer place within walking distance of our new apartment. Wow! There is no table service at this place which is just fine - you order at the front, get a buzzer and find a seat. Food was phenomenal. So fresh. Chips were light and crisp. Grilled Mahi tacos were wonderful. My husband loved the shredded chicken taco. Our houseguests have gone several days in a row. I think this place is a failure waiting to happen. You walk in and there is an order area to your left. The dining area is very open; it's cafeteria style with booths and tables. There is also a bar area with a variety of beers. There is seating outside and outside at the bar, but the seating out at the bar seems weird. The customer is sitting there talking through a small window. As far as the menu goes, it's normal priced. We tried the chicken burrito smothered ($1.50 extra for smothered). The queso was the best part. The chicken wasn't that great. Overall, this place could do really well, but I have a feeling it will fade out as quickly as it came in. read more

Food was really pretty good. Had to go up to kitchen counter and retrieve our food like a waiter would. That was odd. Cooks were confused on orders. No silverware available. Margaritas were very good. I will chalk up the negative aspects to lack of front of house staffing for which I feel badly for restaurants that can't get people to work. read more

Went in for margaritas with my girlfriend, and was very dissatisfied with the service from my bartender Danielle I believe was her name. It took about 20 minutes before I was even acknowledged and when I was there was no apology for taking so long. The food was pretty good, but I don't think waiting 20 minutes for service, and waiting another 15 minutes just for a margarita to accompany my tacos is worth it. I am usually there a couple times a week and the usual bartender Mike gives me great service and remembers my order. Will have to make sure I only come in when he works. read more

Awesome food, questionable service Never been here before, went for the first time last night. The food was great, but both employee interactions I had will make me avoid this place in the future. The ordering and food pickup both seem way too chaotic. For both the customers and the employees. I got some tacos and a margarita, and I followed the sign that said pickup drinks over here. When I went to get my margarita there were probably 5 of them sitting on the counter. I stood there for a second and a younger brunette worker walked up and just stared at me. I said that I was picking up a margarita and she gave me this annoyed look and tone and said "ok...what kind..." like I was dumb by not saying that up front. Look, I'm new to this place, I dont know how your restaurant works, why not reply with a smile and ask what I had ordered and then offer to get it for me. Next, when our buzzer went off i went to the food counter to get my tacos and the guy serving up the orders looked super busy and offered no help and said nothing. So i was trying to look at the ticket #s on the food trays up there and he said "dude that's not your food"... so i said ok here's my buzzer #,which one is mine. He told me there was no order for that number. Then a manager walked up and checked and said they put the wrong # on my order and he found my food. It seemed like the employees were top stressed and were annoyed by having to take time to help a customer. They definitely need a course in customer service. I come here every once in a while and just sit at the bar. Its definitely not my favorite place but it's good for a quick bite & drink or to cure a hangover lol. The food is mediocre, but it'll do the trick. I get spicy pork tacos or breakfast tacos. The service is hit or miss and the staff usually seems unhappy with the management. Some of the bartenders have been friendly over the years (Erica, Dani, Jessica, Erica, Megan, etc) but most of them no longer work there. The best part is the regulars; they are hilarious. They recently made some changes to the place: pool table, jukebox, dart board. Hopefully, the changes continue to be positive so that the staff is happy. Because if the staff is happy, they will treat patrons well and serve/cook better. read more
