We decided on G&B Dockside during Restaurant Week aka Dine Out Lauderdale aka Lauder Eats during the Labor Day weekend. Part of the Be Nice Restaurant/Hospitality Group, G&B Dockside may escape your view because it is located inside the Residence Inn. Once inside we were as impressed by our double greeting as we were by the inside décor. Clean, pristine, and bright. There is something to be said about a well-lit setting when it comes to seafood or restaurants situated by waterways or a massive view of the water. We took advantage of our early arrival by choosing the outdoor patio. So many reviewers mention the view, so might as well join them. The calming view of the water, the passing by of jet skis, and boats of varying sizes, and a nice breeze on a slightly sunny to on and off overcast day, made the patio choice nothing less than excellent! Experiencing conflicting appetizer choices, we asked our amazing server for his recommendation. Anyone who can rock a handlebar mustache is amazing in our books! His choice--Tuna Crudo. And what a choice it was indeed! We enjoy a fresh, tasty salad as an appetizer because it is light, tasty, and filling. The Tuna Crudo packed a variety of tastes: fruit, vegetables, nuts, and fish. The woman who brought it out delivered it with a smile, which made us smile too. Prime Angus Burger was next, and let us tell you, it had not one speck of "rubber meat". Order it medium, which was his recommendation. The catch was the thick-cut fries. Starch fills you up quickly. This is the reason restaurants are so happy to serve bread up front. The gentleman who brought them out warned us they were right from the kitchen. Fortunately, the breeze took care of their heat. As with the BIG burger on the plate, they too were not overdone. As we stated, the thick-cut fries were the catch. We tapped out before even attempting to eat the Key Lime Pie. That we requested to go. All of that for $35. Couldn't ask for a better view of the Intracoastal. Plus, it has valet parking and both inside and outside patio dining. I' had everything on their menu and their Catch of the Day is one of their best. The oysters they have are usually small, especially the Canadian ones. Today I had their Shawarma and the chicken was particularly well seasoned. It was an enjoyable dish. I don't recommend their hot dog plate as their hot dogs just don't have a good flavor. We made reservations for 5:30 dinner on the patio.There was no wait, but due to uncertain weather, we switched to inside seating with view of water. Our server,Taylor, was very informative and attentive. For our meals, we ordered a slow braised Short Rib and Faroe Island Salmon ,grilled. We inquired about bread and Taylor said she would bring some focaccia bread, which was very good. This is a very relaxing atmosphere and casual. The meals were delicious, service excellent. The restaurant offering seafood and more is located in the Marriott Residence Inn and has both inside and outside dining. The fried oysters were served on the shell with a bit of aioli slaw garnish. The crusted grilled mahi was topped with crab and drizzled with a lemon sauce. Our server was very attentive and the view from our table was great! Wanted to try something new. Was here before when it was a different restaurant. Happy to find out it's the Be Nice Hospitality group. We sat inside- beautiful view of the intracoastal. The outside is also with beautiful views of the water. Although they have fans, it's a bit too hot for me. Anyway, we started with grilled octopus & beef carpaccio. Both were very tasty. For the mains, I had the lobster roll & instead of fries, I had zucchini that came with olives- a very unique combination that was delicious. Hubby ordered grilled halibut & polenta with zucchini. You ever walk into a place already planning your five star review in your head? That was me pulling up to G & B Dockside. Fresh off a run of great meals around town from other restaurants in the be nice group, including our go to at Foxy Brown, expectations were not just high, they were doing backflips. And then the plot twist. Let's start with the good, because it deserves it. The patio on the intracoastal is a knockout. One of those views that makes you slow down mid sentence and go, "okay yeah, this is why we came." If vibes alone earned stars, this place is untouchable. Now the food. Calamari to start. Flavor was there, I'll give them that. But the breading had commitment issues. Completely fell off the calamari like it had somewhere better to be. What you're left with is limp, disconnected bites that feel like two separate dishes arguing on the same plate. Two of us ordered the crab encrusted mahi with kimchi sauce. We compared notes and landed in the exact same place. Overcooked, a little tough, and oddly underseasoned. The kind of dish that makes you keep chewing and wondering where it went wrong. The kimchi sauce though? That showed up ready to work. Bright, interesting, and the only thing keeping the dish from slipping into full disappointment. My wife went lobster roll. Perfectly toasted bun, golden, buttery, everything you want. The lobster itself? Needed a personality. Just kind of there. Our friend had the Caesar with salmon. She loved the salad, said the dressing was spot on. The salmon, unfortunately, leaned undercooked. So even the best dish at the table came with a "but." Here's the headline: this is a beautiful place to sit, laugh, and watch boats go by. It is not a place where the food keeps up with the scenery. And when the prices say "special night out" but the plates say "almost," that gap gets hard to ignore. I wanted to love this place. I expected to love this place. Instead, I got a reminder that a great view can't season a dish. Three stars. Come for the water, stay for the company, and maybe eat beforehand. read more

Located in the Residence Inn in Ft. Lauderdale. Found this on yelp and it was a dock side restaurant so it was a no brainer to give it a try for lunch. Very clean and vibrant with great views of the marina and boats. Our waiter was fantastic and such a great and funny attitude, definitely made the whole dining experience so much my enjoyable. We came here (7people) to celebrate my wife's birthday! It was the first time but certainly won't be the last. The Ambiance of this restaurant is relaxing and comfortable. The service was beyond belief and the food was amazing. Every staff member was so busy but extremely attentive. Fantastic dining experience twice in a row. First night I had the ahi crusted with crab meat. It was fantastic. Second night I had the grilled salmon with a side of asparagus and something characterized as ceviche. All three dishes were amazing. The salmon was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The asparagus was a little crunchy, but 100% consistent along the length of the stalk. The ceviche like appetizer with grilled bread was unexpected and fantastic. I say ceviche like, because it really wasn't ceviche. It was a shrimp garnished with avocado, pickled onions, radish, and the whole thing was sitting in a spicy green sauce. I loved it. Both nights service was top-notch. It is rare to find a restaurant in a hotel that says good as this restaurant. When I'm back in Fort Lauderdale, even if I'm not staying at the Residence Inn, I'll definitely be eating here. read more

We had a 6:00 reservation on a Monday in March, yet seating outdoors on the beautiful intercostal was not available because we didn't specify. We found a quiet, corner table inside by the crystal clear window overlooking the intercostal which was perfect. We had the delicious, crispy Coconut Shrimp as an app and Shrimp Rolls, served with hot, liquified butter as our Entrees. Very, Very Good! Two minor suggestions. 1. A choice of dip for the Shrimp 2. Our server Morgan, was so welcoming and attentive! The cocktails and Cabernet, were marvelous. If you don't order the " Scoobies" , about are $23.00 , which are Snow Crab Claws with this sensational Marinade / Sauce , served with the best Toast. You are making a mistake. We will have it every time. The NY Oysters were so good.... We had a marvelous Traditional Caesar Salad with excellent tender , flavorful Beef . Had the best meal in years this week at G&B Dockside. Started with a 1/2 price bottle of Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay and then ordered the 3 course Dine Out special of Twin Filet's, House Salad and Key Lime Pie. The House Salad dressing was incredible and I would love to know the ingredients. It was a large salad for a 3 course entree special with very fresh greens and a memorable light dressing. The two 4 oz beef filets were perfectly cooked with a nice reduction sauce and a sweet potato puree. Excellent choice and plenty to eat. The key lime pie was very impressive with the perfect amount of raspberry reduction sauce and blueberries. The service was excellent and of course the water views a plus. This is one of the best kept secrets in the Galt Mile area! I can't wait to go back. Monday and Tuesday nights are 1/2 price bottles of wine as well as happy hour every Monday-Friday 4-6 with drink specials and 1/2 price appetizers. Fort Lauderdale - We returned with reservations for dinner at an outside table by the intracoastal. Very nice setting, casual but elevated atmosphere. The scallops entree and the macadamia crusted snapper entree were delicious and very well presented. Grilled octopus was also perfectly prepared and I was able to substitute the romesco sauce for lemon aioli. Steven, our server, was outstanding, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Xena (pardon me for misspelling her name). she was a very pleasant server, she was excellent with brining us the condiments that we asked for after we placed our order and in checking in on us as we ate our meals, she also asked if we wanted dessert..many servers seem to not ask this question anymore (not sure why). We said no thanks for the dessert, she kindly brought out the hot towels so we could wipe our hands. Just as a side note...the fish sandwiches were delicious, but we both felt that the Brioche bun was too heavy....everything else was good (considering I gave my tomato to Debbie..lol). I will say the only thing that Xena could've done better was remember that we asked for two separate checks before placing our order and that one sandwich was to be without Tomato. The be nice folks do it again! G and B Dockside is outstanding. Parking is easy and the setting breathtaking. There is something for everybody on the menu and according to our group, it was all delicious. The calamari appetizer was so tender and tasty I considered ordering a second one. What really sets the experience apart is the "be nice" attitude. We were greeted with a big smile, and every interaction we had with the professional staff was stellar. Jeffrey was an incredibly competent server with a great personality and attitude. He was assisted by another gentleman who was just finishing up training, but already worked like a pro. The food at G & B Dockside was all about the average and it's one of those waterfront restaurants that offers little except for the nice view. What elevated the restaurant was the all around good service and G & B Dockside is operated and managed quite well. There are items from the restaurant group's other locations and the waiter recommended crab appetizer (Scoobies) was a disappointment. The crab had a rough grainy texture without much taste. A Lobster Roll was okay and basically just forgettable but the accompanying fries were very good. A simple Pasta dish was basic dull and flavorless and even Burrata couldn't help bring this out of mediocrity. A Bread Pudding dessert was fine and would have been better without the commercial quality ice cream. Despite some food that was lackluster I would go back and give it another try. read more

I live in a neighborhood adjacent to G & B so I eat there quite often. It is in walking distance, and the walk does me good. So does the food. I happen to love the chicken wings so I rarely stray. For reasons to long to go into, we stayed at the Residence Inn at the Marriott for a few days last month, and ate there at least twice a day. The breakfast buffet is very nice, kids friendly and adult friendly also. The lunch menu and dinner menu are both excellent, and if you want to take dinner up to the room I'd highly recommend having a beer at the bar while you wait for your food. The kicker is the price, it is very reasonable. Good food, great prices, friendly staff and gorgeous view, what's not to like. read more

We came sat at the bar 6 pm, we ordered the fish dip and the coconut shrimp. The fish dip was a little salty for my taste, but we balanced it out with the pickled onions/veggies. The coconut shrimp, lacked the coconutiness. 30 mins later we were sat at our table, we ordered the baby kale /gem caesar w/ grilled shrimp. The shrimp had a nice to size to them just a little salty. The best meal hands down was the crab crusted mahi mahi with cilantro citrus sauce. Our server was a tall gentleman who wasn't the most pleasant, I don't know what was his problem. Maybe we caught him on a bad day, it's unfortunate how service can ruin an overall experience at a restaurant. The crowd was tanned and retired, everyone looked great. Had an absolutely amazing meal at G&B Dockside last night (3333 NE 32nd Ave). Our server was Jeff and he was fantastic, haven't had service like his in a long time. Do yourself a a favor and ask for him. We went for happy hour, 50% off bottles Monday and Tuesday and 50% off select apps. We decided to eat all the happy hour apps. The fish dip is the best in SFlo. The lemon Pepper wings were cooked perfectly and come with a large portion of peppers and onions on top. The coconut shrimp are best in the area and we had a shrimp plate as well. Delicious but not the stand out. The key lime pie was extremely balanced and not too citrusy (I prefer a little more citrus). You absolutely can not beat the price. The views were gorgeous, sunset, boats passing by and if you sit outside it appears your over the water. Lastly, the oyster selection was awesome. $3.75 per oyster. We tried them all and there was no disappointment. In addition you receive 3 sauces and the shells were perfectly cleaned. I can not recommend a better *new* restaurant to get to for happy hour.
