First time. Catfish with fries. Excellent on both. Best catfish I have found in the NW. Will be going back for more and to try other items.

WHAT!?!? Love…read moreBelizean is an absolute hidden gem in Portland! From the moment my wife and I walked in, we were greeted by the warmest couple running the place. Their kindness and friendliness made us feel right at home, and they offered wonderful insights into the food and culture of Belize--a destination we're eager to visit. The menu is delightfully simple, featuring chicken and rice, but don't let that fool you. This isn't like anything you've tasted before! The chicken is bursting with flavor, and the rice is simply to die for. They serve the food in take-out containers, which adds a casual charm to the dining experience--it's actually quite brilliant. Portland, you absolutely need to check these folks out and tell all your friends. Love Belizean is a culinary treasure that deserves all the attention it can get. Thank you both for such a memorable meal!

For a double chicken plate at $16 that comes with your choice of: arugula salad or Mixed greens, habanero sauce (refer to menu picture for their options) and it comes with a nice citrus vinaigrette, and an onion relish and chicken "gravy" sauce. I am drooling thinking about this place already. The service was on par. Our server came over and described the makings of the plate, and the sauces and how to use. A++++

Oh goodness was this great! What an experience from when you walk into the door til you pay. Just a treat. Maybe one of the best restaurants in the country. The space is bright, alive, loud, and fun. It feels like Haitian fine dining should feel. Everything about it evokes Haitian vibe from the colors to the noise to the smell. Then comes the cocktails, these were out of this world amazing! Just everything tasted so well balanced while being so beautiful at the same time. Cocktail kings over here! Their equivalent of an espresso martini is maybe the best riff I've ever had on an espresso martini. Somehow this restaurant is entirely gluten free, you would never expect that from the buns you are served, they are plantain based, but are brioche goodness. The crudo was great, the cauliflower the best version of Cauliflower I've ever had, the greens were so tasty I'd become a vegetarian for them, and the rib so good that I could never become a vegetarian, haha. Truly every dish was amazing, and the flavor party never stopped in your mouth. It feels required to get a baked Haiti, so we did. It was good, but not the pinnacle of the meal by any stretch.

We made our way through 4 dishes, from appetizer to desert, and were very happy with our selections. The service itself was absolutely outstanding. Contrary to some other reviews that we've read, we found the prices to be in line with the quality of food and service as well as the portion sizes. We left quite satisfied all around. Great job!

I got the croissant triple 'B' and my partner got the oeufs au benedicte. Although both dishes were good portions, I do believe that the prices were a bit pricey for what they are. Moreover, I thought that the service was okay. When we first came in, they said they were cleaning a table for us but it took about 15 minutes for us to get seated. In addition, the dishes took about 30 minutes to come out, so it was a bit longer than I expected for brunch. However! We did get a change to meet the owner, who came in as we dined. You could tell how involved he is in the business and he is so lively. It made the whole experience very fun, and we even sang 'Happy Birthday' for a couple people who were celebrating their birthdays that week! Because of that, I think the experience of the bistro itself was one of my favorites. Aside from that, I thought that the food and service were alright.

From the front gate to the front room, you can feel the calm, one-ness of Jamaican hospitality. We were greeted at the gate and lead to our seats by a wonderfully positive gentleman who welcomed us to our first visit and took our order with a smile. We tried the Jerk Chicken with Bread. Served with rice and cabbage. All very flavorful and well portioned. Couldn't pass up trying several Pies. The beef patty was solid...but that Jerk Chicken is SOOOOO good, it was the Chicken patty that edged out above the veggie and beef. All were baked with the best patty crust any hand pie could offer. We're going back and this time we're bringing the girls because the other folks dining there were raving about the Ox tail. Wife loves Ox tail and we had no room in our belly to give it a go. Also, recommend the Watermemlon juice. It was perfect with the spices of the Jerk Chicken.

I grabbed a beer and waited because things like this happen. But the food!!! Holy moly was it terrible!!! Microwaved meatballs were still cold. The salad and breadstick that made one of the items an entree was embarrassing. It was literally the smallest salad I've ever seen. Ordered chicken on both Alfredos but only got it on one. Doesn't matter because the pasta was grossly undercooked and the sauce was bland. Microwaved lasagna was a big pile of mush. But the carrot cake was good. So there's that. I guess...
