We've been here maybe 5-6 times, and the experience has been the same every single time, which is half their menu is not available, and that you have to take your food to-go. Came in today at 8:10 like usual. Immediately told half their menu was, surprise surprise, not available, and that we could not dine in despite being open for another 50 minutes. Everything went about as usual until my daughter asked if she could get a refill, like she has multiple times before, while we were waiting on the food. The girl running the register, who somehow managed to get our 2-item order wrong three times while taking it, refused to allow her a refill. When I asked why not, she stated it was store policy that refills were only allowed for guests dining in. When I pointed out that she was not allowing us to dine in, she smuggly replied "that is correct." Rather than demand a manager, who presumably wadn't present since it was only the two teenagers running the kitchen and register, we've decided this will just be our last trip and advise all of you other yelpers of the substandard service this place has made a practice of providing. read more

The fried chicken is good. And that's the headliner, right? I had a 5-piece chicken finger combo (about $16). The chicken fingers are huge, much larger than the usual size you get in other places. The serving of fries is also huge. The drink that comes with the combo is small. Diminutive, even. It was too much food for me, but I didn't know how big the chicken fingers are here, because I had never eaten here before. Same with the fries. Two of me (and I'm not a small guy) would have been happy with what I ordered. I ordered Cajun sauce to go with my chicken and that was a terrible mistake. I am from New Orleans, so as you might imagine, I've eaten a lot of Cajun food in my life, and the sauce did not resemble anything Cajun I've ever had. I daresay it tasted more like Mexican hot sauce than anything else, but mostly, it just tasted bad. And not that hot, either. I went back up to the register and paid for another two containers of sauce, and this time the selection was more mainstream, that is, honey barbecue. Which was good. Not great, but, you know, good. The dining area is very basic, very spartan, some inexpensive chairs and tables and a muted flat-screen TV (with closed-caption) on the wall. The single staff person at the register was very solicitous, too much so, frankly. Cloyingly nice, almost to the point of being obsequious. But perhaps I am just too jaded and cynical, other people may love the immediate high level of friendliness and familiarity. Country music was playing loudly while I was eating. After a while I realised that it was not actually country music, but rather, Christian pop music. If you're on the Pepsi side of The Great Soda Schism, you'll be happy here. If you're on the Coke side, you're not going to be happy. I like Coca-Cola, so I ordered a lemonade, which turned out to be not lemonade, really, but water with almost no lemon taste in it. It came out of the dispenser, so maybe the tank was almost empty or something, I don't know. It was water with the faintest taste of lemon. That's what I got for a drink. There are a great many restaurants that do wonderful things with a chicken. The chicken-lover landscape offers up an embarrassment of riches. With that in mind, I think I'd pick another spot for fried chicken. Not because the chicken was bad (it was not), but other things about the place were not particularly appealing to me, and it's not as if the main drawing card here (which is the bird) is so completely fantastic that you brush all the shortcomings aside. I visited the Dave's service location today at 4:30 for late lunch and unfortunately got a 5 finger and fry's and the breading on all 5 pieces of chicken were soggy uneatable. This is only the 2nd time ordering from this place and first time chicken was crispy and crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. This time definitely not the same quality at all. I contacted staff about the quality of my chicken and I got a long list of reasons chicken was soggy which I question every excuse they gave me none made sense. The chicken in the garlic chicken cheese fries were crispier than the chicken fingers I received even though they were covered in cheese and garlic sauce . Winner winner, chicken dinner! This place just hit the spot perfectly when I was craving some chicken wings. I ordered over the food and was a bit overwhelmed with all of the different flavors that they had to offer for their wings. The woman over the phone was very easy to talk to and helped me choose between the menu options. We ended up getting the Shack Pack, which comes with 25 wings and 3 sides. We got two orders of garlic fries and a potato salad. For chicken wing flavors, we got the Honey Garlic, Lemon Pepper, Garlic Parmesan, and Hot BBQ. Everything was great! The garlic fries were thin & crispy and had a good garlic flavor. The potato salad was pretty tangy and had lots of potato. We got all flats for the chicken wings and the pieces were pretty big! Much bigger than some chicken wing places that I've had. For the price, I highly recommend the Shack Pack for an easy chicken wing dinner with your family. My kids and I were in the area and so we decided to check this place out finally. It's stuck in a strip mall and doesn't have a lot of signage, but we knew it was there. It was very quiet when we got inside, and there were already some people sitting down. The wait seemed incredibly long. I watched one man come in and out several times, appearing aggravated that his order wasn't ready. Other people present seem to have been waiting a while since we arrived. The menu is rather large and has a lot of options. The young man who took my order seemed rather new and/or very nervous behind the counter. He missed numerous requests, like adding cheese or asking for a large soda. The prices seem fairly high and portions seem small. Refills are supposedly free but the machine is behind the counter, meaning you have to ask for them. The cups are small, Styrofoam types that don't hold up very well, and it's awkward to keep going back and asking for more refills. I will never give a quick service restaurant five stars when they don't have the soda machine available for self-refills, but with the Chicken Shack, there just wasn't much to write home about. The fries were pretty decent. The chicken was alright; nothing great about it. The hot sauce was based on Frank's Red Hot, which seems to be a go-to for all the "super hot sauce" places I run into. I have a personal dislike of FRH, so while it's a personal choice, I also get kind of tired about how every place seems to think they have a special hot sauce recipe when really they're just doctoring up a bottle of mass-produced liquid. We don't live in Keizer anymore and don't go out there very often. The Chicken Shack doesn't do anything that makes me want to go out of my way to go here again. TLDR: really shitty food for too expensive and waiting for too long in a place with STICKY floors. Prepare yourself. This is possibly the most disappointing food experience I have had in the state of Oregon. I ate this food an hour ago and my stomach doesn't feel fantastic. We spent a loooong time waiting for garlic chicken French fries, fried pickles and a chicken wrap. The fries and pickles were heavily skimped on. The pickles were so disappointing visually upon me opening the to-go container that I almost considered going back in and showing them. There were about 10 fried pickles at the bottom of the container barely covering the bottom and it was clear it was whatever they had left. The fries were the best part because the garlic overpowered everything else and made it okay because I enjoy strong garlic but there was hardly any sauce at all. The wrap was straight up garbage and the flavor was BAD and the chicken was COLD. Also just terrible buffalo flavor. Menu pictures are misleading and do not reflect what you will receive. The electronic menu switches at a frustratingly fast rate and the menu is kinda large. We ignored the fact that the floors were literally so sticky spilling honey on it wouldn't have made it any more sticky because we heard they were better than Chicken Shanty. So untrue. Go to chicken shanty if you want a quality experience in a quality shop. Please don't go to chicken SHACK this place is just not good and we paid 37 dollars for okay fries, 10 or less fried pickles and a wrap that I am quite literally going to throw away. Besides the sticky floors my partner pointed out that some of the wall panels have sharp rusted metal that is bent outward. We watched like half of a movie while sitting there which makes sense now. If they didn't have the TVs we probably would have realized just how long we waited there for food that the Chicken Shanty would have had done in 10 minutes with several groups of other customers. Having been one other time shortly after they first opened I was happy with the wings and garlic Parmesan sauce so when my daughter wanted a chicken sandwich and said to go to Chic Fil A food truck I decided to come here instead to try the chicken sandwich. Unfortunately I was not impressed while big in size with two large tenders on the bun and fresh produce there was ZERO sauce and nearly ZERO flavor of the meat and was also extremely chewy. The wings and strips were really good-- crisp, hot, and delicious. I do think they were the best wings I've had in a long time. The fries were fairly meh-- a bit soft and soggy. I'm not sure if that's the result of take out, or if perhaps the fries sat a bit while the chicken cooked. They were out of mac n cheese so I had to sub potato salad-- it's a fairly sweet potato salad, so not my preference and won't order that again.
