I'm a big fan of Club Studio and have been going for years now. Here's why I love it:…read more* The Gym is well lit, has all the equipment you'd need, and is never too crowded (or empty) to help us stay motivated to work out. * The Studios have great marked spots for each person, with instructors who bring the energy and fun to their classes. Plus, I appreciate that every class starts on time. I personally can't get enough of the Hot Yoga with Sandi! * The amenities are plentiful with towels, hairdryers, lockers and plenty of spaces throughout with everything we need. * The service is great. The Club Manager, Ricky, excels at taking care of the members. * And, there's plenty of free parking so you're never stressed looking for a place for your car or bike. This is a fantastic facility. Check it out!

I was on the waitlist for a 7:30 PM class and was only added at 7:00 PM--giving me just 30 minutes' notice. That evening, I came down with a fever. Wanting to be considerate and avoid getting other members sick, I had my partner go to the front desk in person to explain the situation and cancel. Despite this, I was charged a $10 cancellation fee. When I followed up, I was told they have a strict 'zero exceptions' policy. While I understand having rules around attendance, penalizing members for acting responsibly when ill, especially after being added from a waitlist on such short notice, is poor customer service. The facility and classes are great but this really rubbed me the wrong way.

I want to thank Raymond, the new manager of 24 HR fitness center in Long Beach at the World Trade Center on Ocean blvd for cleaning up the facility and making it my fun place again. The main changes he has made is to insure that the men's locker room areas, toilet facility are being kept clean and sanitary. The locker room, lockers are being checked and emptied each day and not used for storage by members. We were having problems with lockers space not being available. The shower areas are now being steamed cleaned, and also the steam room and dry sauna area being cleaned. One of the most important area is security, he is having the front desk personnel required to check every one coming into club to insure that they are member of the club and not someone just walking in off the street. I know all the above is just common sense, but when managers are not doing it, it's a problem for members of 24 HR fitness. Keep up the good work Raymond. Ron Roberts

The amount of dust and hair and other crap all over the floor and in between the machines is disgusting. There's always weird. Smell like rotten water. Half the time they are out of paper towels or the sprayers are empty or not working. And the part that probably pisses me off the most is the weights are everywhere. Besides, the fact that there are a bunch of selfish entitled people that go there, I don't think there's anyone that works at the gym that re racks the weights or puts any of the dumbbells back. They are EVERYWHERE. The plates on the squat rack are a joke. Like what are yall doin? But of course, I'm just venting because no one does anything about it ever and no one cares. Anyway, this gym sucks. But it's convenient.

They are all super attentive, constantly checking on you to offer corrections, adjustments, and encouragement so you're getting the most out of every movement. The workout itself is incredible every single class! Each day targets different muscle groups and the classes are structured into five stations with 2-3 exercises at each, giving you a nice mix of strength and cardio while letting you push at your own pace. Usually there are more men than women in class but it never feels "bro-ey" or intimidating at all. The environment feels very welcoming and inclusive. It's honestly one of the least intimidating fitness spaces I've ever been in and it's so easy to make friends here! If you go at the same times each week, you start seeing the same faces, exchanging fist bumps, and building that sense of community. It makes showing up something you actually look forward to. One thing that really sets this gym apart for me is the accountability. They actually check in on you! Like if you haven't shown up in a while, they'll text you to check in and encourage you to get back in. I personally NEED that kind of structure and motivation and it makes such a difference in staying consistent. It can be considered a bit on the pricier side but it's completely worth it. PLUS they have parking. In downtown Long Beach (!!). If you're looking for a gym that keeps you accountable, pushes you, and makes you feel part of a supportive community, this is it!!!

On a whim, while doom scrolling before bed, I came across an ad on Instagram for a 6 week sponsored program at Hardcore Fitness. Being a marketer, I knew it was a ploy to get me in the door and sell me something else, but something told me to go anyways. I hadn't read a single review. I didn't ask anyone if they had been before. I just went with my gut and walked in. I met with them for about 35 minutes where I was actually listened to, and sure enough, I ended up signing up for a 10 week Pro membership. For someone that has a full set of dumbbells sitting on her floor, a walking pad, a vibrating pad, one of those hoola hoop waist weight belts that have all sat unused for at least a year or two, it was a big commitment! I thought maybe if I make myself financially responsible for doing the work, I will get more out of it. Well today, I made it to day three. I figured out already that what is driving me is the community. Yes the workouts are great. I love the way it's set up. It's 8 minute workouts at 5 different stations, doing as many reps as you can, which keeps each workout exciting and makes sure to work out a variety of muscles within the hour. Really is a good fit with my ADHD. But I have seen a lot of the same faces when I've been just these few days and everyone has been really encouraging and helpful. No one has made fun of me for only being able to lift the bar with no weights on it LOL or that I can't do one pullup yet, or even a pushup. But it hasn't even been a week yet, and I can already feel a mental change in how I feel about working out. I think this 10 week program is the swift kick in the ass that I needed to truly make a difference in my health journey. I just turned 50, I lost 50 pounds, and I don't want to have bat wing arms!! There's no creepy dudes in here looking at your butt. The other ladies I have met so far have all been so supportive and cheering me on. I have experienced nothing but encouragement. What's stopping you from joining? Come do it with me!! I only took off a star because the floor is kind of in need of an upgrade, but they have a ton of yoga mats to help make it more comfy!! Oh, and this is a huge bonus, they have parking!!!

I've gained about 20 pounds and I haven't been able to take it off and not because I've been trying, but I haven't been motivated to try. So I knew it was time to make a change. I walked in there and met Krystina (I think that's how you spell her name.) She was really friendly and motivating, and we made an appointment for a consultation for the next day (yesterday.) I already knew that if I felt rushed or pushed or if it felt sales-y, then I wasn't going to do it. But she was so nice there was like not only zero pressure it was like minus hundred pressure lol. She seemed like she was mainly interested in getting to know me and find out what my needs were. Struggled through the work that we did together, but she was super motivating and spotted me when I needed it. I will be starting with her next month and I can't wait. I know that this is going to be a transformational journey and I don't mean physically.

I feel like if you have heritage in Cambodia, this place is a must to experience. Oum Ry is the only one who has a reason in keeping Pradal Serey alive in Southern California. He is 80 years old and is so agile and sharp. If you care about Cambodian culture, humble beginnings, rooting for the underdog, and a great work out,  this IS THE only PLACE to be. I wished I learned about him earlier to support him.  They have kids classes during the week and sparring sessions every weekend. All the kids seem like they are having fun when I dropped by. Instructor Ron is super helpful, very kind, and a funny guy. Parking is street. I've been to the gym numerous times and had zero problems.  There is a ring, heavy bags, speed bags, aqua bag, squat rack, There are zero frills and its raw as it can be here. I freaking love it. They don't try to sell you anything extra and they appreciate every member. You can drop in for the cost of a day pass, join to be a hobbyist to going pro. If you haven't gotten the book, I highly recommend it. It's an easy read with action and heartbreak. I was able to find solace in reading about experiences in the killing fields. I would also highly suggest dropping by the gym to purchase. They have available paperback copies. Bring cash to support.  Private sessions with Oum Ry is available. I got the honor and privilege to train with him privately and he will teach you the basics. You don't need equipment because you can use and borrow a loaner. There is some equipment you can purchase too. I was able to bring my own wraps and gloves, which was all you need to start. Oum Ry is super pleasant to work with, wrapped my hands, and held mitts for me to work on my technique. He is a bit shy but so humble, he speaks English well and if you know Khmer thats a plus.  I've link a way to purchase his book below. They do have paperback copies at the gym and you can even get it signed by Oum Ry himself. Just call.  I purchased mine with cash. https://doppelhousepress.myshopify.com/products/i-am-oum-ry-a-champion-kickboxer-s-story-of-surviving-the-cambodian-genocide-and-discovering-peace Would love to see some fight shorts or shirts for sale.
