I didnt dine it, but during lunch time it wasnt that crowded in the inside so i was in and out which is a plus during lunch....The baked potato was HUGE, and this wasnt one with the chopped beef, just plain jane with traditional baked potato trimmings... I had an amazing experience at Gabbys. $28 for a 2 meat plate w/ 2 sides, a drink, and baked potato loaded with turkey. Sounds a little steep, but definitely worth it on occasion. The brisket was so soft, we couldn't even keep it on the fork. My girlfriend and I came on a Friday night, and they had a great little live music duo covering old country songs surrounded by a crowd of golden-aged dancers. Gabby, Gabby, Gabby, you're killing me. Years back, I used to go here regularly for lunch. I was never disappointed. Well, we returned yesterday. I had hoped to try a nearby BBQ, place that is getting a lot of attention lately, but the line there were ridiculous. I thought Gabby's would be a good go to for a bbq fix. I ordered the ribs and brisket with cole slaw and potato salad. It was all fine and I thought all was well. Then we started the drive home....... I made it about five miles before it started. You know the feeling. That....you better speed up because you have a date with the bathroom feeling..... Need I say more? This place was a surprise for me. The best Texan BBq I had. Way better than Rudy's and guess what! Even better than The Goode Company. Moist brisket was awesome. Delicious and really moist meet not just meet with a lot of untrimmed fat like many bbq places know about the moist brisket. Sausage is great too. Potato salad and fried okra were gorgeous. I tried their peach coupler dessert was great too. In general it was a great experience, very good quality, smilie neat staff and they also have nice atmosphere and good live music on Friday's. I like to avoid the crowd and live music at this place, so I hit up their DRIVE-THRU! Yeah! Hubby and I always order the stuffed baked potatoes with chopped beef and with extra bbq sauce on the side. Their sweet tea is also awesome. I've also had the privilege of having Gabby's cater a few lunches at my old work place, and the meat selection was awesome. I was craving good barbeque and stopped in as I was driving by. My wife and I tried the pork and brisket sandwiches. The cafeteria style service wasn't my favorite, but acceptable as long as it's a means to a delicious meal. My favorite thing about BBQ is the sauce... something smoky, peppery, and tangy. This place has pretty good BBQ at a very reasonable price, and they are quick! The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but it isn't too loud, or uncomfortable, but maybe a bit too plain. I like the spare ribs, which are nice and smokey, and not swimming in sticky-sweet sauce like at Chilli's. The BBQ chicken is not bad at all, and the brisket is delicious. Meh. Average. I've driven by for years and have always considered myself a little bbq snob but I was hungry and needed a sandwich. I skipped the drive through and decided to go inside and check it all out. No line, no fuss. Not bad for a guy who wanted quick. Went with the sliced brisket sandwich and a side of mashed potatoes. Skip the potatoes, they're basic and boring. The sandwich had a nice smoke to it although not the best crust or amount of juice. I dont know who made the decision to stop using plates at a BBQ place and start using trays with a wax paper mat, but it's very very unappealing. When eating juicy BBQ or salad or a chicken fried steak on a tray lined with paper that is sure to get soggy, it is not appetizing at all. BBQ is one of my big passions, being (mostly) a Southerner. When the BBQ sauce level in my blood gets too low, I get all light-headed. I've been past Gabby's often, and I've had it a couple of times now. For the Cliff's Notes version, I can sum up the rest of the review to save you time - "eh." The meat, to my mind, is too lightly smoked, which is an individual taste thing I know, but it's my review, so sue me. I like a robust smoke to my BBQ. I had the pulled pork platter, pork being the original BBQ, and the serving was a bit small for the price. Sides were decent, but unremarkable, the exception being the GREAT potato salad. Desserts are ok, but don't seem homemade. Dining room is kitchy Texas ranch, but endearing somehow. You order at the counter and then wait there to pick up your food. I've not waited more the 3-4 mins, which is great service. Staff are friendly and efficient. The place is spotless. The food is ok, fair, worth eating, but it's not great BBQ. Gabbys is a great barbecue restaurant if you are out of the loop and not near Goode Company. I go to Gabbys for lunch because they are conveniently fast and are very close to where I work. Now, if I had a choice I would choose Goode Company over Gabbys. But this is not to say Gabbys does not measure up. They have great barbecue, ice tea and mac & cheese. The sauce is spicier compared to many other sauces I have tried in the Houston area. They are also very accommodating when you ask for your meat lean. One thing I wish they would do, is to place a trash bin by all of the fountain drinks and salad bar. When I get the things to-go, I do not want to keep my receipt along with straw trash and a sugar packet, in my hand. Wondering where to place it, I find myself frustrated to continually ask the waitstaff to throw away my trash. If you can get pass the trash bin issue, you should give Gabbys a try. read more

Sausage was the best thing there, spicy and flavorful. Tender and flavorful pork. Brisket was just ok - not as tender or flavorful and a bit dry. BBQ sauce had a good balance between sweet and tangy but was a bit plain. The ribs were a bit dry and tough. The potato salad was good. It was the chunky red russets and mayo/celery style. The mac and cheese was plain, thin and uninspired. I love the fact that they have a four meat plate: brisket, sausage, pulled pork and two spare ribs. Barbecue is always good when I come here, and there's one dish that I will specifically love whenever I come back. You walk up to the counter and order there and usually they have your food prepared in as little as a minute. I usually get the sausage link plate, which is a dinner, and two sides come with it. There's also a drink that comes with the meal. Seating is good, and I can find a table easily. Some nights they have live music and I hear it sometimes when I come in. They have tables and booths, and clean restrooms. Parking is okay; it is very dispersed if you can find a good place to park. Plus I would come back every day if I could eat barbecue. Bellville meat market is also good, but this is a closer location I would come to that's only about 15 miles from my house. Face it, I love barbecue everywhere it is whatever people recommend a new barbecue place to me. Usually before a game in Houston I come here, or a concert. I would suggest if you want to good barbecue meal come try it! read more

Very friendly service at the ordering counter, and very fast as well-- a huge plus for a workday meal. My food started coming out as I was ordering, and my plate and sides were ready within one minute! I think the price-- $12.99 for a two meat plate with two sides-- is fair for what you get. The portions are very generous, to be sure. The food itself is just average though. The ribs were very tender but lacked any real flavor. Instead, they just poured BBQ sauce over the plate. The sauce was undeniably tasty, but the real judge of good BBQ is the flavor of the meat itself. The brisket was similarly flavorless, and not as tender as it should've been. Overpriced for the quality. The meats were OK. Sides not so good. Mac-cheese was ok, but coleslaw was bad with no flavor. The white bread even when fresh seemed old. It could be that it is refrigerated in the back. Atmosphere was a bit too cold. Customer service was great. Very helpful and nice. When asked about the potato salad, he offered me a taste.
