I had this at the rodeo after waiting in a super long line for it. Line was long but the service was quick. It was pretty decent and rodeo priced. I always had it saved on my favorites and kept it because I knew I would want to go to get the real experience of the location. I finally made the trek over to the actual location and they did NOT disappoint. They're not open everyday. I got here and the line was pretty long. The line was long, but they are literally making plates to order and really fast. Impressively fast. The brisket was a little over cooked, but the chopped brisket, ribs , sausage, potato , potato salad and green beans all were fire. Hence the review still getting 5 stars. The ribs were tender. Fell off the bone. Even at the moment I don't know why that potato was so big, but who am I to question such delicious foods. A note for me mainly and anyone else who enjoys sauce get the sauce on the food and some on the side. Or make sure you get extra on the side. In comparison to my meat portion I needed way more sauce. Maybe 2 cups instead of one. I didn't get sauce on my food. The customer service was good, the guys were helpful and made the food so fast. Definitely worth the trek over here. I decided to stop in this spot as I heard this spot use to be a great place for bbq. I came into the establishment and there was a line in which is a great sign that the food was worth the wait. When I arrived I viewed the menu as I knew I wanted to try the baked potatoe. There is a decent parking lot as they are located in a neighborhood off the Northside on homestead. I decided to order the "Lil J baked potatoe" which included chopped brisket. Now when I placed the order I stated no chives and no sour cream. What I will say is that potatoe had an overwhelming amount of meat and I wasn't complaining. I watched the guy make the potatoe and I noticed there was no cheese. I said add cheese he repeated and I also told the guy I want cheese and butter no sour no chives. I was standing in the line and moved up waiting to pay. I didn't look at it as I had repeated three times what I wanted. As I was driving and almost home I opened the potatoe and noticed there was NO CHEESE. I was so upset. I had to run to the grocery store to buy cheese. Now the meat was good but to eat a potatoes without cheese and have to buy your own was disappointing. Would I go back not sure but I would suggested you review your order prior to leaving the establishment. I'd say give them a try as I past two potatoe spots to go here and they messed up my order. This is what dreams were made of. With loaded potatoes, I expect that some elements might lack such as the tenderness or flavor of the meat since it will be smothered in toppings anyway. That is not the case here! Everything on top was just enough to make me want a little more. This food is enough for two generous servings, which I'm loving in this era of sticker shock casual dining. Once we were at the front though, there were several staff on the line expediting and the ordering to the check out process was pretty fast. We decided to stay and eat inside. After getting BBQ recommendations from the locals, we set out to dine at Triple J's. We arrived minutes before they opened and there was already a line out to the parking lot (always a good sign). The staff runs the restaurant like a well oiled machine which we loved. If you did do not preorder, you get in line, give the staff your order, meal is plated and you end up at the cashier...genius! We ordered the three meat combo, beans, green beans and added dirty rice, potato salad, boudin (regular and seafood), strawberry crunch cake and peach cobbler. Best BBQ I've had. I thought I was smart to visit at 11 am BUT there was already a line so that was a great sign. The ribs were scrumptious, fries hit, bbq sauce was wonderful. I ordered the two way ribs very tender the sliced brisketr was how I emembered it the first time a little too over smoked for my liking ,the potatoe salad is sweet and the beans were seasoned well. I arrived around 10:45 am and they open up at 11am... there were about maybe 10 good people in line already. Once they open up they are friendly and move the line pretty quickly. I've been searching for good bbq spot and this ain't it. I tried the ribs, boudin, and brisket which were all terrible for the price. Especially the brisket becase it was tasteless and dried out. Sadly, this was the one of the worst barbecue restaurant experiences that I've had and if I didn't live so far from them I would of brought it back. Total waste of my time and money. read more

Great portions for the prices. Seems high but worth it. I definitely recommend this place in the hood. Lots of seating if you want to eat in. They have some outdoor seating as well. I was in Houston for work, I told my friend I need to have BBQ there, they treated me for lunch, I am not sure what they ordered but when I opened the box it was full of meat. The portion was big, the ribs and sausage was good, but not as good as pinkerston, I like the sausage and the brisket. Overall it was fine but I think it need more flavor vs quantity. We're from Kansas City, MO home of the best BBQ! While in Houston the owner of the Breakfast Klub said they have the best bbq and to try this location. It was a loooong drive from where we were staying in Katy, TX but we wanted to try it out. It was a small establishment, and you can easily be fooled because the parking lot wasn't very big (but we realized there was a small parking area behind the building). We arrive a little before 4pm and there was a line. The set up is kind of awkwards as the buffet where you place your order is right when you open the door, then you have to squeeze through the line to get to the back of the line. It's like going through a cafeteria line as you can see the food through the glass when ordering and as they prepare it. I will admit it all looked good and it smelled good as well. I prefer to eat my food at the restaurant, but we drove back to the hotel because we knew the traffic was going to get bad. Between the two of us we were able to try the ribs, brisket, burnt ends, chicken, beans, potato salad. We enjoyed it but I still prefer KC bbq but we all know everyone have the preferences. After all the hype I've heard over the years, I finally decided to trek to Triple J's from Cypress while I was home for the Christmas holiday. Most of y'all were probably still eating leftovers so that's why I was able to pull up and find a spot right in front. No line out the door but one on the inside. Roughly 10-12 ppl ahead of me. Not bad from what I've heard. The restaurant is very small but they do offer a little room to eat inside if you so desire. I think most ppl probably are take and go here cause it was empty the whole time. In terms of service, the guy taking the order and plating the meat was just ok. The guy assembling the rest of the plate was friendlier but the man at the register was the friendliest! I was disappointed I didn't see any cobbler for purchasing. I asked him about it and he said hold on, let me see if I have some in the back. He didn't but I really appreciated the gesture nonetheless. Now the food: I ordered the J's three meat special which came with brisket, sausage and ribs. I saw negative reviews on the Mac & cheese and literally no one was ordering it as I was in line but I still wanted to taste it. Ordered green beans as my 2nd side. It was a no for me dawg on almost all of that food. And I ate it minutes later since I wasn't going home right away. The mac & cheese, yeah reviews confirmed. The seasonings aren't typical, I kind of like a little pepper on my mac so that wasn't the issue. It didn't taste that cheesy either. My green beans were mush, completely overcooked and devoid of texture. Now the meats: they didn't taste all that smoky. The brisket had no real smoke ring on most of the slices. The sausage was ok but missing that good pit taste. The 2 ribs that came in the special redeemed them, best meat on the plate, tender to eat. The BBQ sauce needs work so it didn't help the meats at all. I almost got the boudin and crackers but I didn't want to do too much since again, I wasn't going home. It actually looked pretty smoked. The place is small with a very small area to sit and eat. Now while this is an option, most do not. Soon as you walk in you will be met with a line that wraps around the inside of the establishment. While in line there are coolers filled with BBQ sauce and to go dishes to load yourself up as they will not do this for you. It took 40 minutes for me to get to counter and order and while I wasn't feeling the wait, I'm glad I stayed. The food is definitely worth it. Texas seems to know how to get BBQ right. The brisket was smoked perfectly and basically fell apart in my mouth. The ribs was just okay, I was honestly a little let down but hey. The greens beans were so good! They took their time with them. The baked beans did not disappoint either. That slice of bread did not go to waste either, I soaked up the grease and sauce and slab me some pieces of brisket on it.
