Tucked away near downtown Grants Former Tiendita front I saw that it's now Gabby's Caf Breakfast was my want. River Park across the street early in the day had geese and ducks and walking dogs they wanted me to stay. Gabby's called I could not wait and so I walked away. "Your early sir." said smiling Tam, "The cook is on his way." "Restroom please." "It's down the hall and to the left. waiting for your stay." Music Country, art the same - it's rural N.M. here my friend, horses, cows and lambs. Star of The West brought the list. She shined her light, she spoke her words she made my morning bright. What rhymes with Huevos Rancheros? Farmer Brothers coffee and a tall cold glass of H2O. The beans were swell, the eggs were fine, green chile sauce was gentle on my mind. And into prose I wind. Gabby's Cafe is the in-town Mom of Gabby's Diner in Milan. You can get dinner there if you're on time. I love small town cafes! Cozy and nicely decorated - clearly an older building not too far from Rte. 66. What I loved was the service. I didn't get her name, but she was just the nicest person ever! The reviews raved about the burgers so we decided to try them. My husband had the double cheeseburger, and I tried the Bourbon Feta and grilled onion burger. First, they used quality beef, hand-formed snd smashed, so I love the texture of the patties and the way they were cooked. Buns were buttered and toasted on the grill lightly. Fries were decent. The only downside was that I could not taste the bourbon on my burger, but the feta and onions were on point. We also tried the strawberry lemonade - perfect - not too sweet. It was nice to watch the service team interact, and how they hustled. They do a lively to-go business as well. Great place to stay. read more

In my travels, I have eaten at restaurants that were finely polished on the outside and absolutely falling apart on the inside. I have found that most places that look like they are in disrepair on the outside are the one's that are killin' it in the kitchen. This place DID NOT disappoint. Everything easy to get to was closed on a Monday. Despite the boring burger photo that was on Yelp and the very few reviews, this vegetarian took a chance and went to Gabbys with a friend. Very happy with the service! The food was great and they have Gabbys secret sauce which is like thousand island dressing and is delicious with a basket of fries. Hopefully more reviews get posted so more people venture here. read more

This is a place of you get what you get and be happy. The management does care if you are happy or not. Out Oder said and choice of Potato, when told they were out of mashed potatoes we were told we got French fries or pay an up charge for a baked potato. Apparently the choice is theirs not yours. Don't you make mashed potatoes out of whole potatoes???? Maybe they use a box ‍. The waitress even said the manager doesn't take kindly to suggestions. Food was lacking in flavor. There aren't a lot of choices fir places to eat in Grant's NM so we found this place and in spite of being the only customer at 5:30 in the afternoon we stopped in. I had the taco plate and my wife had the burrito, both with carne adovada. The food was great. I also had a piece of lemon meringue pie. The pie was good but didn't match the other food. Service was exceptional. Prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend stopping by when you are in Grants NM. read more

Service was slow but our waitress was nice. So the food... They list a deep fried blt in the menu which my wife ordered out of curiosity. It was just a toasted blt when I asked about it they said the bacon was deep fried. Kind of annoying and misleading. I got some loaded cheese fries. There wasn't much beef, lots of huge chunks of flavorless mushrooms and soggy fries sitting in a puddle of flavorless jus. Maybe we just picked the wrong stuff but I have no idea how this place is rated 4.5 stars based on my experience. read more

Don't be hesitant from viewing the outside The building isn't much to write home about but then again ... we didn't stop for the building . Traveling thru the area, and after reading reviews, we decided on this place. We had a small puppy so the option to sit and eat inside was non existent. We ordered carry out and took it across the road to the near by park with picnic tables. I was ready to go check to see if our order was ready, looked up and one of the servers was happily bringing our lunch to us. Table service was added to bag without even asking - thank you I ordered the burrito plate and my husband had the 3 tacos. All was delish and he said he liked the beans ( which is coming from a guy who doesn't eat beans) and his salsa was nice and zesty My burrito was delightful - I requested 1/2 red 1/2 green sauce and they happily served my request and both were on point. Fantastic hamburgers! My family and I went to El Malpais and the ice cave and planned to eat lunch in Grants. Found this place on Yelp when looking for a burger and turned out this place was perfect. Big hamburgers (8 oz, I think) loaded with green chile. Good fries. The perfect part for us was that since we aren't ready to eat indoors, yet, there's a nice waterfront park across the street. A couple blocks off the main road and worth searching out. An unassuming little place with minimal decor and fabulous burgers. I had the Mushroom Swiss Smashed burger. This is an incredible hole in the wall place!!! I had the Gabby Burger with green chiles on top. It was absolutely delicious! The meat was cooked well and seasoned. The green chiles added a nice little kick to the meal. Fries were nice and crispy, everything you would want from a good homestyle fry. We discovered Gabby's about 4 years ago, and were delighted that we found this place for great burgers. My go to was the patty melt and my husband's was the bacon cheeseburger. We took friends and family from out of town. However, we recently took our son and a friend. We were the only people there. 12:30 pm. Lunchtime. Something seemed wrong, a little surprised since we bragged it up. I ordered my go to as did my husband. Our son ordered the smash burger, substituted the chips for fries at an extra charge, our friend order chicken fried steak that comes with 2 eggs any style hash browns and a biscuit. Our order was not complicated, and since we were the only people there, surprised it took at least 45 minutes to get our food. The chicken fried steak was delayed a few more minutes. The cook came out to apologize because she overcooked the first one. The eggs that were ordered over easy were over hard. The steak was just mediocre and the biscuit was like a hockey puck. As for our burgers and patty melt, all over cooked and dry. We paid our bill and tipped well, since the server was courteous. Not her fault the food was sub par. We used to love you Gabby's. Sorry we won't be back unless you read this and step up your game. Disappointing! read more

We read the reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The exterior is not impressive but there were many cars parked all around the café so we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Very cute and clean inside. Courteous and friendly staff and the burgers were delicious! My husband and I decided to split one because they're so big!
