Wow, what a bagel! Came here on a Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the selection and freshness of bagels given the time. I got the garlic bagel toasted with butter and my mom got the everything bagel toasted with butter. We were both delighted by the lightness of our bagels. Light and fluffy with a crisp exterior. I see a lot of comments on service, but it's what you'd expect for a Jersey bagel joint, no frills, but the order is accurate and delicious. It was $7.00 for two bagels, a little expensive but worth it in my humble opinion. I'm always looking for a good local spot for bagels, and Gabe's did not disappoint. Check them out! My son lives in Chicago die over a year and a half and couldn't believe they can't make not only bagels there, but no Taylor ham! Doesn't get better than this! I came in craving a breakfast burrito and was NOT disappointed. I'm vegetarian so I asked the cashier if I could remove the meat and eggs from the Spanish burrito. He was super accommodating and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. My burrito was SO GOOD, wow. This is a cute little spot with 1-2 tables and self serve coffee in the corner. I just had an absolutely perfect sesame bagel with veggie cream cheese in this place. Perfectly fresh. Bake long enough so that both the dough and the sesame seeds had that toasty flavor on a chewy crust that you look for in a real bagel. The veggie cream cheese was excellent. I believe this is under new owners from my last visit over 15 years ago. Very clean inside. It's not meant for indoor dining. I ordered a THEC SPK. There was hardly any cheese on it. I didn't taste any salt or pepper. And they almost forgot the ketchup. I heard the cook ask the counter person if there's ketchup on it. He had to open the outer foil wrap and add the ketchup. There were four slices of Taylor ham and they had char which was good. I think there were two eggs on it but it was hard to tell. There could've been more eggs. There was no cheese pull. The sandwich tasted good but could've been bigger and better. I also ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with butter. The bagel seemed under cooked and doughy. The other bagel flavors seemed more cooked and bigger. It's iffy if I will be back. I can't recommend them. read more

Unfortunately I find Gabe's bagels are shaped differently than traditional bagels. They are very puffy and tall and make a poor vehicle for a sandwich due to so much bread. read more

Service is not always the best. Bagels are great. Customer Service could be better, food can be great however, customer service is key.

I just had a freshly made bagel with a large smear of lox cream cheese and it was only 4 bucks! When I say large, it's like every bite you have the amount of those tiny cups of cream cheese you get at hotel breakfast. The bagels are chewy and warm and the flavors just come out; so enjoyable. This is my first time trying Gabe's, but first impression is a good one. You can see directly into the kitchen and see a massive circular vessel, which I assume is for boiling bagels and then to the left a massive oven. Not a fan of having my time wasted. Ordered a dozen bagels over the phone at 7am. Girl on the line said OK to everything. Go to pickup at 9:30am and my order isn't there. Based on the other reviews, I don't know if I went on an off day or if I just have completely unique taste to these people. First off the staff was not very welcoming. Kind of surprising since you would think they want to give a good impression to a new customer. Then got 4 bagels, 2 of which had what was supposed to be butter, but the butter tasted like oil spread. Didn't seem to have any salt in it. Also had a cinnamon raisin that my daughter said had no flavor. We were quite disappointed. I will not be returning. The only reason it is not a one star is that 3 of us said the bagel itself would have been ok if it was plain, but the butter ruined 2 of the 3. read more

Be prepared to overpay and be met with poor, rude staff. Paid $4.50 for a plain bagel with cream cheese and jelly. I was planning on getting more but, the woman at the counter was so rude! Ordered two bagels with plain cream cheese at the counter. Got to work 10 minutes later. Had to call them back and ask them why did they give me very warm bagels with cream cheese! The guy says that is what we do. I asked him if he knows what happens to the cream cheese. He said "Yes, it melts." I said thanks for the bagels and the cream cheese SOUP! This is the second time I've tried them and both times I left due to food safety issues. I was the 3rd person in line and watched as the gentleman behind the counter handled cash with gloves on and then preceded to grab a bagel and make the customers sandwich, without changing his gloves. This is a food safety issue as money is very dirty, this is a direct cross contamination issue and should be taken seriously. I suggest that the owner review his food handling procedures and re-educate his staff before some get ill. read more

We recently moved to this neighborhood. I was craving for Bagels and learned about this place through yelp. We were not disappointed! This place has very fresh bagels and has a wide range of selection. A lot of people are returning customers as the cashier seems to know most of the them. The one thing I did not like though is that their menu is hard to understand so I had trouble understanding how to order and the cashier wasn't being very helpful in clarifying my options. This is frustrating especially when there are people waiting in line behind you. My boyfriend had the same feedback after the one time he went by himself. This might not be an issue for all those returning customers but is very awkward for new customers. I would suggest either improve the menu or give more training to the employee. Fresh bagels are fine except for the cinnamon raisin, which have too little (if any) cinnamon. If you buy bagels by the dozen to freeze, they will slice them for you which is very nice. But too many of their bagels are too thick to fit in my bagel-friendly toaster. To fit I need to slice them into three slices, a pain in the neck, and not what I want. read more
