We had a great experience with Gabriel's Fire delivery. The food was mainly delicious and the delivery service was speedy. We ordered brisket, pulled pork, collards, mac n cheese, and gumbo. The meats were the absolute highlight. The brisket was phenomenal--very tender, fatty, and ultra smoky. Others in our group felt similarly about the pork. We got the Kansas City sauce and, while it wasn't the best I've ever had, it absolutely avoided the common pitfall of being cloyingly sweet. They promise that it isn't too sweet on their menu, and they're right. For BBQ meat, I think Gabriel's Fire is up there among the top offerings in the area. The sides were less great. The collards were divisive in our group. I liked the initial hit of vinegar and the oh-so-subtle kick in the aftertaste. But others found them bland. I will say I appreciated that they at least appeared to be vegetarian/pork-less. The gumbo was quite bad in my estimation. Its only flavor was the roux and salt, and its texture was unsettlingly uniform. The Mac and cheese wasn't bad; very plain but inoffensive. The fries were immensely greasy, borderline burned, but soggy. The only one of these I'd consider ordering again is the greens. They also have no options for any kind of bread--no rolls, no cornbread, nothing of the sort. Maybe it's unfair to judge a restaurant on what the don't serve, but this felt like something that made the meal feel unbalanced. There is a lot of intense BBQ snobbery in Seattle, with many claiming that we don't have any good options here. I disagree, and my credentials are having done a lot of eating in the South (AR & TX mainly). Gabriel's Fire is good BBQ. We are so happy to have it nearby and look forward to returning. read more

I'd give it a solid 3.5 Place is a super small probably old dive bar, couple tables and a long bar top. She loves bbq places and wanted to try another one. So between two places this one won. By the looks they probably have a ton of to go orders or single guys having a beer and bbq at the bar top. She's loves baked beans and they weren't her favorite here. The habanero Mac salad was very well taken by everyone at the table. The plates for 1 they have gives great a pile of meat, fries, hand made and little crispy and Mac n cheese, which was good. We had pork, brisket and ribs at the table. All of which was smoked fairly well. The brisket was good and tender. Pork was a tiny bit dry but the homemade bbq sauces made for it. And the spare ribs were cooked well, they were good for spare ribs but I generally prefer a baby back. Overall the service was stoic, he was spot on with everything but looked as if he was busy with a lot of other stuff throughout the restaurant as well. It's a solid place for bbq, so if you're a bbq fan give it a try. Def a solid lunch spot if you and a couple guys were looking for a place to stop. read more

In the past 10+ years of living in Mountlake Terrace, this was our second time trying Gabriel's Fire as I hadn't really enjoyed it the first time. This time, we tried a variety of things. The biggest thing we found from all that we tried is everything was bland and had no flavor. The collard greens and mac-n-cheese needed seasoning. The ribs and chicken sandwich were dry and chewy with no flavor with the bun also being stale on the sandwich. We were disappointed for sure but this bbq place isn't the bbq style for us. read more

At around $25 to $30, these are quite pricey and lower quality. Clearly not comparing to Texas because no BBQ around Seattle comes close, but I believe there are better BBQ spots nearby. Brisket Plate - four slices of dry sliced brisket and basically two sides in mac and fries. Sauce definitely makes the brisket better, but good BBQ shouldn't be dependent on sauce. so close to me, yet, it's been more than "a while" since my one and only visit to Gabriel's Fire. i'll be returning more often. we 3 were the 1st to arrive at 11:30 a.m. our server was friendly. looks like there was 1 person in the kitchen. 2 ordered ordered the generously piled high and smokey (pulled) pork sandwich. one had the beans which were declared deliciously smokey. the other had the gumbo - more on that later i had the brisket plate with mac & cheese, potato salad, and extra side of gumbo. i asked for the fatty end of the brisket. received 6 generous moist, tender, and smokey slices that passed the pull test. the mac & cheese: creamy. the potato salad: "dry" but i didn't miss the super-wet-mayo-ey dressing. tasty with a touch of pickle dill flavor. i liked it. the gumbo: it was good but not the flavors i was used to. maybe more bell peppers than usual? maybe lacked okra and/or file gumbo? KC Original BBQ sauce: delicious! will buy some to bring home. next visit will be the ribs and more side dishes. read more

Ordering by the pound was not so clear. You should put an average count of how many ribs per pound could be expected. Ordering entrée without the combo doesn't make sense how we received less (appearance wise) from what we see with the same price for a combo in the pictures. The collard greens were like overcooked bland canned stuff with maybe a hint of sugar or something sweet. Nothing close to being seasoned with anything else. The brisket portion was tiny. Definitely not happy and most likely never gonna go again or order...even if someone else is paying. I'd rather save them some money and not jump on that free meal. read more

I've been a customer of this place around 15 years and this is my favorite bbq place. Monty is hard working man and friendly. My favorite food on the menu is Brisket, coleslaw and beans. Let's just say my favorite part of Gabriel's Fire was the sauce. And the fries. Everything else was quite lackluster. I want to like this place, and the service was fantastic, but the food was very subpar at best. I came here on a Friday night and it was quite empty. But I don't want to mark that as a red flag - this is a local joint and had a really cool bar vibe. Seattle pride with sports posters plastered everywhere, that's pretty cool. I ordered the brisket plate with fries, and all plates come with Mac n cheese. The brisket.. was ok. It's tender but super dry. I had to drench the meat with the sauce (which was great and so flavorful). The fat barely held up and it was just a meh to me. The Mac n cheese was so poor. Lacked flavor and it was dry as well. I love it when the cheese is piping hot and melty and gooey - this seemed like it came from a Kraft box. Best part was the fries. Solid fries, 5/5. Maybe I'm being generous because everything else was so lackluster and mediocre, but I did like the fries. This doesn't even hold a flame to other BBQ areas in Seattle, yet alone the country (I'm looking at you, Texas). Wow. The brisket was amazing. Literally melted like butter and broke apart with a touch. Not dry at all extremely flavorful. Great seasonings. I ordered for take out got the slaw. Mac and cheese and chili cheese fries. Everything was amazing serving size was great definitely filling. I had some Hawaiian rolls at home to make a sandwich out of it. Amazing. I definitely recommend. Service was quick and got my order within a few minutes. The place looks nice sports bar. I wonder if they show ufc fights there. I'll ask next time I order. The brisket was tender and flavorful. Loved the hot sauce. The best sides we tried were the slaw and the greens. Wow, those greens had tremendous and complex flavor. Best I've ever had. The mac and cheese had good cheese flavor, but tasted like made only stovetop. Would benefit from some time in the oven. The beans were good, but not special. The gumbo was outstanding. It was rich and very satisfying. The fries were also very good. We ordered about 6:00 on this Saturday evening, and they were already out of ribs. We were advised it would be an hour before more ribs were available. The service was odd. Very antagonistic over the phone and very pleasant in person. I like bbq and have come here four times. Monty is the one who takes my order. I don't think I will come back to dine in, I feel my mere presence annoys him. One needs to brace themselves for the prickly to non-existent service. After 15 minutes, I spotted him in the back, sitting down. I asked for silverware to eat my food. He snarled at me"I only have two hands and have to do everything around here." Almost if I should apologize for asking. I have tried to overlook his apparent unhappiness with having customers. In seriousness, there is a real feel of overwhelming anger in this man, which makes it unpleasant to be in contact with him. Food Is good, I enjoyed the chicken, potato salad and baked beans. He has a skill with bbq. Possibly could invest in a robot that delivers food from the kitchen to the table. Prices have increased at least 30-50% in a year. I understand that everything is more expensive right now but this is the fastest price increase of any restaurant around. I used to be a regular on my way home from work but I will not be paying over $17 for a sandwich I used to get for $6.95 and definitely under $10 in the last year. Their BBQ is good but it is not worth that. I want to note that their service has always been timely and friendly but I can't justify those prices. read more

We were in the area this Saturday evening and I saw this BBQ joint was nearby with good ratings so doing our Texan (and honorary Texan) duty to stop by and try the 'cue. There is almost no parking, just like 6 spots but there are some street parking or other lots nearby. Walking in, the space is small but not too crowded - really just right and feels like a real authentic local BBQ place. The right side is bar seating with some taps and the left side has 5 or 6 tables of various sizes. There was a decent number of happy groups tonight. We got seated immediately while the Lakers vs Rockets game was on (on 4 TVs!) Service was prompt and cordial while also being straightforward, all which we liked. We got waters and beer ordered fast. They have a brand of kolsch I hadnt heard before but it was nice and crisp, served in a frosty coldglass. Everything on the menu sounded great. Their meat selections are brisket, pulled pork, chicken and pork ribs. Though they don't do set plates here, you can order meats by the lb and the sides to make yourself a plate. The sides are really reasonably priced at less than $3 to $5 while the sandwiches are all just under $9. These are great prices for BBQ so far from the South. We got their 2 best meats (brisket and pork ribs) and the collard greens and potato salad. (BTW Southern friends- It's hard to find collard greens, gumbo, Texas potato skins and blackened fish this far NW, but they have those here!) Food came out fast and it was meaty and juicy looking. The bark on both meats looked great and the brisket cut thick (thin slices often compensate for chewy overcooked brisket). The meats were as tender and juicy as they looked. You don't need a knife to break through them and the place knows it. They only give you a fork and spoon! The brisket is the best I've had in the greater Seattle area. The pork ribs as well but I don't have those often anywhere. The collard greens were good and I loved that tangy tomato BBQ sauce. The potato salad was pretty good but needed a bit more seasoning. The bf said the meat was great but the bark coulda used a bit more black pepper and salt. We really enjoyed our meal here. Service was friendly and swift, food was phenomenal, and price was just right. As a hot-sauce aficionado who enjoys a variety of ghost/reaper sauces, I can tell you that this place is NOT MESSING AROUND with their Level 7 Fallen sauce!! I actually ordered it by accident. Roommate was ordering on her phone and told me to pick the sauce I wanted. I was in a rush and saw "hot" and clicked it, expecting it to be the average "spicy bqq sauce". It is not average. I dumped the whole 2oz container on my order of pulled pork. It pushed me to the absolute limit of my tolerance, and were it not for the generous portions of mac/cheese and coleslaw, I'm not ashamed to admit I would have had to run to the kitchen for milk. 5/5. It's VERY rare that a restaurant can actually meet (let alone exceed) my desire for spicy. Will order again soon, and maybe try the levels 1 and 4 as comparison points. read more

This place sucks. We stopped in because we love BBQ and surprisingly, they were actually open (they are usually closed). We were "greeted" by chairs blocking off entry to any seating. The cook saw us and gestured to the "host"? that we had arrived. The interaction was incredibly rude. Not just business like, but out and out RUDE. He was especially rude to my wife for no reason. Still, we placed an order to go (you can't dine in), got it home and wow, what a disappointment. We ordered a half pound of brisket. The portion was about 3oz. We ordered a pound of ribs. The portion was maybe 8oz. I am pretty sure the ribs are pre-cooked and frozen from Hormel Foods. In other words, they don't smoke them on site. Fire in the hole!!! Ghost pepper fire to be exact. I pop in to G.F. on occasion and have nothing but great things to say. Their pulled pork is savory, tender and portions are ample. I also love their brisket. Can't decide? Go ahead and risk it! Now back to the ghost pepper sauce; you're gonna want a sample. It's a hot sauce, which can be pretty hot, but it still has plenty of flavor. The point isn't pain, it's heat with flavor. Depending on your senses and tolerance, it could make you cry. *Their other sauces are superb too, but the ghost is the one for me. Nicely done! The servers can be fun and the beers are cold.
